Lorena Ochoa (born in Guadalajara, Jalisco on 15 November 1981) is a Mexican golfer who plays on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is currently the number one ranked woman golfer in the world. She was only the second Mexican to become a member of the world's leading women's golf tour, where she quickly became one of the tour's top players and the first Mexican golfer of either gender to be ranked number one in the world.

Ochoa grew up next door to the Guadalajara Country Club and took up golf at the age of five. She won her first state event at the age of six and her first national event at seven. All told as a junior she captured 22 state events in Guadalajara and 44 national events in Mexico. She won five consecutive titles at the Junior World Golf Championships and in 2000 she enrolled at the University of Arizona in the United States.

She was very successful in women's collegiate golf in the next two years, winning the NCAA Player of the Year Awards for 2001 and 2002, finishing runner-up at both the 2001 and 2002 NCAA National Championship and being named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) 2001 All-America First team. She won the 2001 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships, was named PAC-10 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year 2001 and was All Pac-10 First team in 2001 and 2002.

In her sophomore year she had eight tournament wins in ten events she entered and set an NCAA record with seven consecutive victories in her first seven events. She won the Golfstat Cup, which is given to the player who has the best scoring average versus par with at least 20 full rounds played during a season in both 2001 and 2002, setting the single-season NCAA scoring average record as a freshman at 71.33 and beating her own record the next year by just over a stroke per round with a 70.13 average.

In November 2001, Ochoa was presented with Mexico's National Sports Award by Mexican President Vicente Fox. She was the youngest recipient of her country's highest sporting accolade, and the first golfer to receive it. In 2006 she was named NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Most Outstanding Student Athlete, an award which was bestowed as part of the 25th Anniversary of Women’s Championships celebration, taking into account outstanding performances over the past 25 years. She was the recipient of the 2003 Nancy Lopez Award which is presented annually to the world's most outstanding female amateur golfer.

Ochoa left university after her sophomore year to turn professional. She won three of her ten events on the 2002 Futures Tour, and topped the money list to earn membership on the LPGA Tour for the following season. She was also Duramed FUTURES Tour Player of the Year.

In her rookie season she gained eight top-10 finishes including two runner up finishes at the Wegmans Rochester and Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill ending the season as the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award and ninth on the money list. In 2004 she won her first two LPGA Tour titles, the Franklin American Mortgage Championship (where she became the first Mexican born player to win on the LPGA Tour) and the Wachovia LPGA Classic. That same year she placed in the top ten in three of the four majors.

In 2005, she won the Wegman's Rochester LPGA. In 2006, her first round score of 62 in the Kraft Nabisco Championship tied the record for lowest score ever by a golfer, male or female, in any major tournament. Her playoff loss to Karrie Webb marked her best finish until 2007 in an LPGA major. By the end of the year she won six tournaments, topped the moneylist and claimed her first LPGA Tour Player of the Year award which goes to the player who gains the most number of points throughout the season based on a formula in which points are awarded for top-10 finishes and are doubled at the LPGA's four major championships and at the season-ending ADT Championship. She also won the LPGA Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average on the LPGA Tour.

Her achievements were recognized outside the sport of golf when Ochoa won the 2006 Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year award and received the National Sports Prize for the second time.

In April 2007, Ochoa overtook Annika Sörenstam to become World number one ranked golfer.

In August 2007, Ochoa won her first major championship at the historic home of golf, the Old Course at St. Andrews, with a wire-to-wire win by four shots at the Women's British Open. She won the next two LPGA events, the CN Canadian Women's Open and the Safeway Classic, the first to win three consecutive events since Annika Sörenstam in 2005.

Also in 2007, Ochoa became the first woman ever to earn more than $4,000,000 in a single season, surpasing Annika Sörenstam's previous record of $2,863,904.

Laura Harring

With an impressive body of work that encompasses film, television and theater, Laura Elena Harring is quickly emerging as one of Hollywood's most versatile and sought after talents.

Harring also has a role in the darkly poetic tale, Masked and Anonymous, for director Larry Charles. Laura has lived a very diverse life. She lived the first ten years of her life in Mexico, before her family relocated to San Antonio, Texas. At age 16 she convinced her family to let her study in Switzerland at one of the top schools, Aiglon College, where she graduated with an academic diploma. Upon graduating, she spent the next year traveling through Asia, exploring Europe and spending time as a social worker in India.

Montijo started her career when she won the contest La Chica TV in 1993. After that, she starred in several telenovelas and shows.

In 2004, she participated in the reality show Big Brother VIP and ended up winning. During this time she was the girlfriend of mexican football star Cuauhtemoc Blanco. She also participated in the second season of Bailando por un Sueño (Dancing for a Dream).

In 2006, Montijo starred in the Mexican telenovela La Verdad Oculta, opposite Gabriel Soto.

In 2007, a sex video surfaced that featured a woman purported to be Montijo. Montijo repeatedly denied that she was the actress in the movie, assertions that proved correct when the actress in question was revealed as Latin porn star Monique Fuentes.

Elsa Benítez (born on December 8, 1977) is a Mexican supermodel. Benítez was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, and she got her modeling start after winning an international model search, held in Costa Rica in 1995. With Linda Evangelista as one of her childhood idols, Benítez decided to follow her dream of modeling. Modeling opportunities opened up for Benítez soon after, first in Mexico, where she started out her career, and then in the United States and Europe.

She become a supermodel after being chosen by photographer Steven Meisel and being featured many times on the US and Italian Vogue for Meisel's layouts.

In 1996, she appeared on the cover of Vogue Italy three times in April, August and September. After signing with Elite Model Management, she then appeared on the covers of many fashion magazines, including Vogue, ELLE, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Harper's Bazaar, and Marie Claire. Benítez has also done advertising campaign work for Dolce & Gabbana, Macy's, Episode, I-N-C, J.Crew, Óscar de la Renta, Rena Lange, Nine West, Valentino, and Jones New York, and has modelled for Victoria's Secret. Benítez appeared in the 1999 Pirelli Calendar that featured "Women Through the Decades." She was photographed as a representative of the "groovy '70s."

She also appeared in Enrique Iglesias' music video "Love to See You Cry" in 2002 and in the beautiful ad for the perfume Mahora Guerlain shooted by Bruno Aveillan in 2003. Benítez was also selected to be on the cover of the 2001 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She has appeared in the Swimsuit Edition five times since her debut in the magazine. In the 2004 issue, Sports Illustrated reported Benítez's story of nearly boarding the doomed TWA Flight 800–a Boeing 747 that exploded over the Atlantic soon after takeoff. She was crying on the phone to her husband and said, "I feel something is going to happen on the flight." Her husband told her not to worry, but she continued to cry. She changed her ticket and took off ten minutes after TWA Flight 800. "It made me appreciate so much that just being alive is a gift."

Benítez plans to enter the film industry and as such has taken acting lessons. She hopes to work in both Spanish and English language films. She married former NBA player, Rony Seikaly -- 12 years her senior -- in September 1999, and she filed for divorce in August 2005. They have one daughter together, Mila.

Growing up in an artistic household, actress Constance Marie (the George Lopez show) always had to enhance the little she had to create a fabulous look. "I didn't grow up with a lot of money," she says. "But as an adult, I have been fortunate to wear the very best in clothing and I wanted all women, Latin women in particular, to experience the same thing."

Enter the Constance Marie Collection, which launched in 147 Mervyn's department stores throughout the West and Southwest on Friday. With a collection that offers chic on the cheap (think low-rise jeans that provide the perfect posterior cover-up and still make you look sexy; sweaters; skirts and flirty tops in rich jewel-shade tones), she's set to bring a little sabor to the ready-to-wear world. But more than another celebrity-turned-designer, this line has a purpose. Five percent of the proceeds go toward b.i.y.a.y.c.d.a., a local charity in California, which supports children's aspirations. Here, in our exclusive interview, Constance Marie shares her passion for design, giving back into the community and the top five chic on the cheap shopping tips every mujer should know.

Latina.com: What made you decide to become a designer?

Constance Marie: I've always loved fashion and for a couple of years I wanted to do something. I ended up calling the line Constance Marie, because this line is who I am. This is what I like and this is what I feel makes a Latin woman's body look the best. As an actor, you have to show the best of you always. I learned from all the gifted wardrobe people over the past 20 years and took all of that knowledge to create clothes that work for our bodies. I've had a butt since I was nine years old and when I bend over, my whole plumber's crack shows. So I created jeans that are a combination of all the best jeans that I've worn, plus I've added extra fabric at the back so it covers you up. For the skirts, dresses and tops, the colors are ethnic-friendly. There is actual color! You can find items in garnet, blue, white, all colors that look nice on olive skin.

Latina.com: Are you targeting a particular age group?

CM: It's for any age, especially if it's in the Latin community because even if she's a grandma, she still wants to look sexy. It is contemporary with a trendy flair. There are very cute tops that go with the jeans; plus jackets for the office. And you can find it from size 4 to 24.

Latina.com: What caused you to connect with Mervyn's and the b.i.y.a.y.c.d.a. foundation?

CM: I believe to whom much is given, much is required. I studied art and I come from an artistic family; I didn't grow up with a lot of money. I grew up with a single mom and she worked two jobs. I know how hard it was to have to buy my own things. Starting at 13 years old, I had to buy my own books, my own clothes and I wanted [to do] something that gives back. I was in talks with a few different people and it's taken a while, but when we sat down with Mervyn's, it was a perfect match. Mervyn's gives underprivileged kids a "Child Spree" at the beginning of each school year; and they give scholarships to kids who have overcome the most obstacles to graduate. It was perfect. B.i.y.a.y.c.d.a., which means Believe in Yourself and You Can Do Anything, creates after-school programs that include math tutoring, dance and soccer, which help to keep kids out of harm's way. It's a local program for now, but it would be amazing to see it go national. Five percent of the clothing line's proceeds go to them. What they are doing in the community is really great. I just remember as I kid, if I hadn't gotten the little extra attention from my teacher, who made me believe in myself, I don't know where I would be today.

Latina.com: What are your favorite pieces from your fall and holiday collections?

CM: I love them all, but I would have to say the charmeuse and lace tops, in royal blue and garnet; you can dress them up or down. There's also a beautiful boatneck knit sweater with beading. The holiday collection has beautiful dresses in cream-colored knits.

Latina.com: Can you give us your top five chic on the cheap buying tips?

CM: Sure. I've always told people that just because you pay more for something doesn't mean it's quality. So, no matter where I shop, I always apply these rules:

1. Look for even legs when you buy slacks; oftentimes the legs are cut on the machine and if the legs aren't even it will become a problem for you later.

2. Check all the buttons and zippers to make sure they have been sewn on properly.

3. Look at the hems of the skirt; make sure it is cut even. It should not be longer in the back than it is in the front.

4. Feel the weight of the fabric; the heavier and stronger the weave, the longer it may last.

5. Always splurge on comfortable underwear, and for sure, shoes. Shoes will carry you all through your life and if you wear bad shoes they can damage your feet.

Eva Longoria

Golden Globe Award-nominated American film and television actress. She plays Gabrielle Solis in the ABC television series Desperate Housewives. She has also become an internationally recognized model after appearing in several high-profile advertising campaigns and numerous men's magazines. Longoria is also known for her high profile relationship with French NBA guard Tony Parker, whom she married in 2007.

Longoria Parker was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Mexican-American Catholic parents, Enrique Longoria Jr. (born in Rachal, Brooks County, Texas) and Ella Eva Mireles (married in Falfurrias, Brooks County, Texas). She has three older sisters: Elizabeth Judina, Emily Jeannette, and Esmeralda Josephina. The family lived and worked on farmland that had been handed down to them from past generations, but they often had very little money; Enrique and Ella struggled for many years to give their children a decent upbringing. Eva showed viewers an introspect into the hardship she faced in her formative years growing up poor on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006; she took cameras on location to the family farm, and showed how spartan they were still living. Longoria admitted that things looked slightly better for them financially, only when she made it in show business.

In an interview with Dateline's Stone Phillips, Longoria also revealed the snubbing she received from her siblings. She said "I grew up as the ugly duckling. They used to call me 'la prieta fea,' which means 'the ugly dark one.'"

For middle school, Longoria attended Marvin Baker Middle School.

She attended Roy Miller High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology at nearby Texas A&M University-Kingsville. During this time, she won the title of Miss Corpus Christi, USA in 1998. After completing college, Longoria entered a talent contest that led her to Los Angeles; shortly after, she was spotted and signed by a theatrical agent. With many family members still living in Corpus Christi, she still returns to her home town for visits.

Longoria landed her first television role in 2000, guest-starring in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. Another guest appearance in General Hospital the same year brought her big break on the popular American soap opera The Young and the Restless, in which she played psychotic Isabella Braña Williams from 2001 to 2003. People en Español listed her among its "Most Beautiful People" for 2003. After leaving The Young and the Restless, she was seen on the now-cancelled Dick Wolf revival of Dragnet. Although it lasted only two seasons, the show gave Longoria another leading star credit to her name. Following Dragnet, she starred in two ill-fated productions - Señorita Justice, a poorly received direct-to-video film, and a television film titled The Dead Will Tell.

In 2004, Longoria landed a role that elevated her to the A-List. She starred as adulteress Gabrielle Solis in the worldwide break-out ABC hit Desperate Housewives. As the show became an overnight sensation, Longoria's career was well and truly launched. But she has never considered her career to have jumped off so suddenly, "I think it’s funny when people say I’m an overnight sensation, because I’ve been working at it for 10 years."

Shortly after her debut on Desperate Housewives, Longoria starred in a poorly received direct-to-video film titled Carlita's Secret, for which she was also co-producer. In 2005, she was rewarded for her performance as Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives when she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy along with her co-stars. Even though neither Longoria nor any of the rest of the cast won, she was awarded the prestigious ALMA AWARD and named entertainer of the year. She also starred opposite Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland in the 2006 thriller The Sentinel, which was her first major role in a theatrical movie (both Douglas and Sutherland noted that much to their surprise Eva whipped both of them in gun practice). Longoria continues to be included in lists of Hollywood's Most Beautiful and was listed #1 in Maxim's Hottest Female Stars of 2005 and 2006, becoming the first woman to top the list in two consecutive years. In her most recently released film, Harsh Times, she plays the character Sylvia and co-stars with actors Freddy Rodriguez and Christian Bale.

In her interview with Ryan Seacrest on The Interview with Ryan Seacrest on E!, she stated: "I don't want to be on 7th Heaven -- on for 20 years and no one's really watching, and it's hanging on by a thread." She has also stated multiple times that she will not renew her Desperate Housewives contract once it is up. Instead, she has set her sights on the film industry. At the time of her statements, the length of her contract was not known, but she has since revealed it to be 10 years, starting from the first season.

In 2006, Longoria appeared in Jessica Simpson's music video "A Public Affair" along with Christina Milian, Christina Applegate, Ryan Seacrest, Maria Menounos, and Andy Dick.

Longoria was on the cover of the September 2006 issue of Maxim Magazine. She sat down with Maxim and discussed how contrary to belief, her life really is normal. "Tony [Parker] and I spend most of our time in San Antonio. We have such a normal life there. I mean, we hang out and have breakfast, go to his parents', go to my parents'. Do laundry."

Longoria recently won a People's Choice Award for Best TV Actress.

In January 2007, Longoria was chosen to be the first face of Bebe Sport. She will appear in the Spring/Summer 2007 campaign, photographed by Greg Kadel. The actress also holds model contracts with L’Oreal and Hanes, New York & Co.

Longoria also hosted the 2007 NCLR ALMA Awards on June 5, 2007, on ABC.

In 2007, the ladies of Desperate Housewives each renewed their contracts with ABC for four years, worth $40 million.

Longoria was married to General Hospital star Tyler Christopher from January 20, 2002, to January 19, 2004, and as such, was also credited as Eva Longoria Christopher. She has been romantically linked to successful writer Milan Gracanin, ex-*NSYNC member JC Chasez, actor Mousir Syed and Life As We Know It star Sean Faris (although both Faris and Longoria deny any romantic link). Like many South Texans, Longoria is an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and is a courtside regular at Spurs games. On November 30, 2006, she became engaged to Spurs point guard Tony Parker. The two called in to the Ryan Seacrest radio show to announce it. She said the way he proposed was "perfect, personal, and sweet." After playing against the Utah Jazz, Parker flew out to Los Angeles, which was unexpected because she never thought he would come there after the game. She got off work at about midnight and found Parker waiting for her. The couple were officially married on July 6, 2007 because French law requires couples who marry to make their vows official at a city hall. They had their lavish church wedding on July 7, 2007 in Paris. Although they are now married, Eva's boss Marc Cherry has insisted that Eva does not get pregnant for a year as it hasn't been written into the storylines for Desperate Housewives during the fourth season (2007-8). Eva herself said she wants to concentrate on the TV series and so has put babies on hold.

On June 14, 2007, the Spurs won the 2007 NBA Finals in Cleveland, Ohio against the Cavaliers, and Parker was honored as the Finals MVP for the series. Longoria was shown wiping many tears as Parker was awarded the trophy.

In September 2007, Eva started a restaurant in Los Angeles called Beso which translates to kiss.

On December 24, 2005, a car driven by Parker was cited for impeding traffic. Longoria, who was a passenger, allegedly began verbally abusing the officer by yelling: "He's just a Mexican bike cop. He only wants your autograph." She later denied the allegations, saying through her publicist: "I never made any sort of racial slurs, let alone made any comments about the officer being Mexican, as a Mexican myself."

Paulina Rubio: Bordering on Superstardom

Born in Mexico City and raised in Mexico, Los Angeles, and Spain, Paulina Rubio was no stranger to showbiz, thanks to years of traveling around with her Mexican actress mother, Susana Dosamantes. But rather than follow in mom's footsteps, Rubio charted a course for singing stardom, starting with Timbiriche (which included fellow Latina Thal?a) before moving on to a solo career with her 1992 debut album "La Chica Dorada" ("The Golden Girl"). The 22-year-old singer also dabbled in acting along the way, but the success of her recent English-language debut, "Border Girl," has convinced her more than ever to focus on her music career. "Acting was like a hobby for me, but music is my priority," she told Orcasound magazine. "I like to be myself and improvise. In acting you have to be someone else and wait hours for your call. You also have to memorize dialogue. It's not for me anymore."

Daughter of Mexican actress Susana Dosamantes, Rubio was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. Her music is popular in Latin America, Spain, Italy and the United States. English-speakers may recognize her from her 2002 hit single "Don't Say Goodbye". Paulina Rubio has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Paulina Rubio released her latest album Ananda on September 19th, 2006 in th U.S. and on September 18th, 2006 worldwide. It reached the #1 spot in the U.S. and countries all over Latin America. It reached #25 on U.S. Billboard's "Billboard Hot 200" albums chart, and it reached the #1 spot on Billboards "Top Latin Albums." Ni Una Sola Palabra has reached the #1 spot on radio in many Latin American countries, as well as the U.S. and Spain. It reached #1 on U.S. Billboard's "Hot Latin Tracks." Paulina Rubio's last three Spanish language albums have all consecutively peaked at the #1 spot on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums" chart.

On April 30, 2007, she married Spanish public relations executive Nicolas Vallejo Najera "Colate" in Xcaret, a Mexican eco-tourism park on the Mayan Riviera.

Paulina Rubio is the older of two siblings. She has a younger brother named Enrique. At age 5, Paulina was taking singing, acting, jazz, painting, and dance lessons while enrolled at what is now the Centro de Educación Artística (CEA) in Mexico. After two years of being there, Pedro Damián and Martha Zavaleta contacted Paulina's parents for their approval in Paulina joining a band that would be formed by children from the center.

On April 30, 1982, she began her career when she was ten years old, under the guidance of Miguel Bosé and debuting in a children's pop group called Timbiriche. The original band had 7 members: Alix Bauer, Benny Ibarra, Diego Schoening, Mariana Garza, Paulina Rubio, Sasha Sökol, and Erick Rubin (who joined a year later). Rubio recorded a total of 11 albums as part of Timbiriche. In 1985, Timbiriche participated in the musical Vaselina (Spanish adaptation of the American musical Grease). While in Timbiriche, Rubio also turned to acting in telenovelas with Televisa. She landed her first role in 1988, as the villain Paulina Montenegro in Pasión y Poder (Passion and Power). In 1992, she also starred in Baila Conmigo as Andrea, one of the biggest telenovelas of that year. Two soundtracks, Baila Conmigo and Recuerdos de Baila Conmigo, were released. Many members of the popular soap opera made many television performances on Siempre en Domingo, among other TV programs.

In 1991, Rubio left Timbiriche and focused on launching a solo career. She traveled to Spain to begin work on her first project as a solo artist. In 1992, she released her solo debut album, La Chica Dorada (The Golden Girl) under the EMI Latin record label. The album's title stuck and to this day Paulina is known as "la chica dorada" or "the golden girl" in Latin America. The album's first single "Mío" (Mine) quickly became one of her trademark songs. La Chica Dorada was certified Diamond in 1997, and she was presented with an award during her promotion of Planeta Paulina on Veronica Castro's extinct music show, La Tocada. After many reissues in countries like Mexico, USA, and Spain, the album "La Chica Dorada" has gone on to sell more than 1.2 million copies worldwide.

In 1993, she released 24 Kilates (24 Karats), which sold more than 150,000 copies in just three weeks after its release. In 1995, El Tiempo Es Oro (Time Is Gold) was released. It included the hit Te Daría Mi Vida (I Would Die For You) and the theme song to the 1994 Mexican film Bésame En La Boca (Kiss Me), which starred Paulina Rubio. In 1996, she released her last album with the EMI Latin record label, Planeta Paulina, which included the hit single Enamorada (In Love) and featured the theme song of the 1995 telenovela of the same name in which Rubio starred as Alma, Pobre Niña Rica (Poor Rich Girl). Rubio also recorded English versions of the songs appearing in the album. Some of these would be released years later in a hits compilation.

After Planeta Paulina, Rubio took the longest retirement of her career. She left the music scene and moved to Spain where she did a little bit of everything. Except for her participation in 1998's Reencuentro Tour with Timbiriche, Paulina was absent from the music scene for nearly four years.

Rubio's strong comeback to the music scene began in summer of 1999 when she recorded Vive El Verano, the theme song to a summer TV show she was presenting in Spain, which was her first single under her new contract with Universal. In early 2000, the single Lo Haré Por Ti launched her fifth studio album, the self-titled Paulina. Paulina was nominated three times at the second annual Latin Grammy Awards for "Album Of The Year," "Song Of The Year," and "Best Female Pop Vocal Album." She became the winner of multiple awards. It became Rubio's first no. 1 album on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums" chart, as well as the highest selling Latin album of 2001. The album Paulina has sold more than 4 million albums worldwide to this date. Other singles released from the album include the ranchera El Ultimo Adios, Y Yo Sigo Aquí, Yo No Soy Esa Mujer, Sexi Dance, and Tal Vez, Quizá. Such was the success of Paulina that Universal Records decided it was time for Rubio to prepare her first English-language production.

Paulina Rubio's presence in the English-language market came in 2002. The hit single Don't Say Goodbye rose to the 41st position on the "Billboard Hot 100" Chart and whose music video became a regular on MTV's Total Request Live. On June 18, 2002, Border Girl, Rubio's first foray into English-language-Pop, was released. The album debuted at the 11th position on the "Billboard Hot 200" Chart and was certified Gold in the US. Although her debut English album did not launch her into superstardom out of the Hispanic world, it did give Paulina the international recognition she sought for years. As of June 21, 2002, the Houston, TX radio station 104 KRBE declared the 21st of June as "Paulina Day" in Houston. Rubio also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and CD:UK, among others. She also performed at many international festivals, including Wango Tango, Festivalbar, and Festival di Sanremo in Italy. With Border Girl, Rubio managed to appear in magazines like Rolling Stone, Stuff, and Blender. In Fall 2002, Rubio toured and performed material from Border Girl with fellow Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias.

Paulina Rubio's 2004 comeback album, Pau-Latina, proved to be a smash success. The album's first single, Te Quise Tanto, became her biggest single to date, reaching the top position on Billboard's "Hot Latin Tracks" for several weeks. Pau-Latina became Rubio's second consecutive album to debut at #1 on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums." Other singles released from the album include the #1 track Dame Otro Tequila and the top ten hits Algo Tienes and Mia. Pau-Latina won several awards during the year and was nominated for a Latin Grammy for "Best Pop Female Vocal Album" in 2004. In 2005, she was nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Latin Pop Vocal Album." She was the only woman nominated in that category.

The success of Pau-Latina opened doors for Paulina, as she hosted The MTV Latin America Awards for the first time. It was the first time a female artist hosted and proved Paulina is a force to be reckoned with. Paulina Rubio was also named People En Espanol's 2005 Star of the Year.

Paulina Rubio released her latest Album Ananda on September 19th, 2006 in th U.S. and on September 18th, 2006 worldwide. It reached the #1 spot in the U.S. and countries all over Latin America. It reached #25 on U.S. Billboard's "Billboard Hot 200" albums chart, and it reached the #1 spot on Billboard's "Top Latin Albums." Ni Una Sola Palabra has reached the #1 spot on radio in many Latin American countries, as well as the U.S. and Spain. It reached #1 on U.S. Billboard's "Hot Latin Tracks."

Ananda was certified a multi-platino award for album sales of 250,000 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Paulina performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Gala in Oslo, Norway, alongside such acts as Rihanna, John Legend, and Lionel Richie, who also lined up to honor 2006 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Muhammad Yunus.

"Spanish people need to start writing better roles for themselves, not just roles touching on racism," she once told Interview. "We've seen those films already. We have to get past that and write films about life." In the meantime, Rodriguez is proud of what she's accomplished on-screen as an independent-minded female. "If you don't feel like playing with Barbie dolls, then don't," she says. "If you like hanging out with guys more than you like hanging out with girls, then do."

when she was 11, later settling in Rodríguez was born in San Antonio, Texas to Carmen Milady (née Pared), a native of the Dominican Republic, and Rafael Rodríguez, a Puerto Rican who served in the military. She has a total of ten half-siblings or siblings. She was raised by her devoutly religious maternal grandmother and was brought up in her mother's Jehovah's Witnesses religion. Rodríguez moved to the Dominican Republic with her mother when she was eight and lived in Puerto RicoJersey City, New Jersey. She dropped out of high school at age 17 and later earned her GED.

Rodríguez won her first role, in the low-budget independent film, Girlfight (2000), after attending her first audition, having run across an ad for an open casting call. She beat 350 other applicants for the starring part of Diana Guzman, a troubled teen who decides to channel her aggression by training to become a boxer. Rodríguez's performance was recognized by both critics and audiences. Despite major industry buzz of a possible Academy Award nomination, she did not receive the Oscar nom. Rodríguez did however accumulate several other significant awards and nominations for the role in independent circles, including major acting accolades from the National Board of Review, Deauville Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Las Vegas Film Ciritics Sierra Awards and many others and the film itself took home top prizes at both the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals.

Subsequently, she has had notable roles in other successful movies, including S.W.A.T., The Fast and the Furious and Resident Evil. In 2002, she was ranked #77 in Stuff magazine’s “102 Sexiest Women In The World”, and #34 in Maxim’s "100 Sexiest Women". 2002 also saw her play Eden in the surfer girlpower flick Blue Crush.

In 2004, Rodríguez gave her voice to the hit video game "Halo 2", playing one of the Marines. She also currently provides the voice of Liz Ricarro in the Cartoon Network series IGPX. Most recently, Rodriguez was linked by newspapers to Kylie Minogue's ex Olivier Martinez after the two were seen dining at Chateau Marmont. Eye witnesses claim Rodriguez spent the night at his hotel room. The two have been spotted together several times over the course of the last 4 years, this being the most recent.

In March 2002, Rodríguez was arrested for assault after getting into a fight with her roommate. The charges were later dropped after the roommate declined to press the allegations in court.

In November 2003, Rodriguez went to court to face eight misdemeanor charges based on two driving incidents including a hit and run and DUI. In June 2004, Rodríguez pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to three of the charges: hit and run, drunken driving, and driving with a suspended license. She went to jail for 48 hours, performed community service at the morgues of two New York hospitals, completed a three-month alcohol program, and was placed on probation for three years.

In 2005, while filming Lost in Hawaii, Rodríguez was pulled over by Honolulu police multiple times; she was cited for driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone on Oahu on Nov. 1 and was fined $357, paid a $300 fine for driving 90 mph in a 35 mph zone on Oct. 20, was fined $197 for going 80 mph in a 50 mph zone on August 24. On December 1, 2005, Rodríguez and her Lost co-star, Cynthia Watros were separately pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence. Rodríguez pleaded not guilty when arraigned, but on the day of her trial in April 2006, she pleaded guilty to one charge of driving under the influence. She chose to pay a $500 fine and spend five days in jail instead of doing 240 hours of community service. Rodríguez cited her high doses of allergy-relieving steroids as part of the reason for her erratic behaviour. The fact that her and Watros' characters were killed off (appropriately enough, in an episode titled Two for the Road) led some fans to believe that it was a result of the arrests, however Rodriguez and producers said their exit from the show had been planned before the season began and the arrests were just coincidental. Her hiatus from movie roles from 2003 to 2007 also led fans to believe she was being temporarily blacklisted for her legal troubles.

Because the Kailua incident was a violation of her Los Angeles probation, Rodríguez was sentenced to 60 days in jail, a 30 day alcohol rehabilitation program and another 30 days of community service, including work for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, by a judge in Los Angeles on May 1, 2006. Because of overcrowding, she was released from jail on the same day she entered it. As of June 2006, she will still have to serve the community service. In September 2007 however, Rodriguez allegedly violated her probation by not completing her community service and not following an alcohol education program. It was reported that Rodriguez originally submitted a document stating she performed community service on September 25, 2006, but later admitted she was actually in New York City that day. Her lawyer claimed it was a clerical error. A hearing has been set for October 12, 2007, and in the meantime Rodriguez is to spend 30 days doing road maintenance work. If found guilty, she must serve her original full sentence, 477 to 537 days in a county jail and a $2,000 fine.

Though the film took nearly a decade to come to fruition and marked an epochal moment for the actress, she doesn't worry about how she can top herself. "You have a dream and think about it, you involve other people in the dream so that it becomes better, and then when it's done you put it aside and have the courage to dream a new one," she told View London. "I am not going to compare anything else with this. I will just enjoy whatever it is. That is one lesson I learned from Se?ora Frida Kahlo."

An Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated Mexican/American actress, Daytime Emmy-winning director, and an Emmy-nominated tv and film producer. Hayek has appeared in more than thirty films and performed as an actress outside of Hollywood in Mexico and Spain. Hayek's charitable work includes increasing awareness on violence against women and discrimination against immigrants.

In July 2007, The Hollywood Reporter ranked Hayek fourth in their inaugural Latino Power 50, a list of the most powerful members of the Hollywood Latino community. That same month a poll found Hayek to be the "sexiest celebrity" out of a field of 3,000 celebrities (male and female); according to the poll, "65 percent of the U.S. population would use the term 'sexy' to describe" her.

Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, daughter of Sami Hayek, an oil company executive, and Diana Jiménez, an opera singer and talent scout. Hayek's paternal grandparents were of Lebanese descent and her mother´s family is of Spanish descent. Raised in a wealthy, devoutly Catholic family, she was sent to the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, at the age of twelve. She was also an accomplished gymnast aspiring to compete in the Olympics but her father prevented her from being recruited by the Mexican national team. The religious sisters running the Academy ejected Hayek citing behavioral problems, so she returned to Mexico. She was later sent to live with her aunt in Houston, Texas, where she stayed until she was seventeen. She attended college in Mexico City, where she studied International Relations at the Universidad Iberoamericana. To the chagrin of her family, she dropped out to pursue a career as an actress.

At the age of 23, Hayek landed the title role in Teresa (1989), a successful Mexican telenovela that made her a star in Mexico. In 1994, Hayek starred in the film El Callejón de los Milagros (Midaq Alley), which has won more awards than any other movie in the history of Mexican cinema. For her performance, Hayek was nominated for an Ariel Award.

Hayek moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1991 to study acting under Stella Adler,^[9] hoping for a career in Hollywood.^[10] Robert Rodriguez and his producer wife Elizabeth Avellan soon gave Hayek the break she needed, a starring role opposite Antonio Banderas in 1995's Desperado.^[6] The movie caught Hollywood's attention, as moviegoers proved to be as dazzled by Hayek as Rodriguez had been. Due to Hayek's loyalty to the director she would later decline playing the role Catherine Zeta-Jones eventually took in The Mask of Zorro after Rodriguez abandoned the project. She has also appeared in the Spy Kids trilogy.

Hayek followed her success in Desperado with a brief but memorable role as a vampire queen in From Dusk Till Dawn, where she provocatively danced on a table before killing Quentin Tarantino's character. In 1999, she co-starred in Will Smith's big-budget Wild Wild West, and played a supporting role in Kevin Smith's Dogma. In 2000, she had an uncredited acting part opposite Benicio del Toro in Traffic. Around this time Hayek founded production company Ventanarosa, through which she produces film and television projects. Her first feature as a producer was 1999's El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba, Mexico's official selection for submission for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.

Frida, co-produced by Hayek, was released in 2002. Starring Hayek as Frida Kahlo, and Alfred Molina as her unfaithful husband, Diego Rivera, the film was directed by Julie Taymor and also featured an entourage of stars in supporting roles, including Antonio Banderas, Ashley Judd, Geoffrey Rush, Edward Norton and Valeria Golino. She earned a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her performance. This made Hayek, along with Katy Jurado and Adriana Barraza, one of only three Mexican actresses to have been nominated for an Academy Award, and the second Latin American actress nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, after Brazilian actress Fernanda Montenegro, for Central Station (1998).

Following Frida, in 2003 she reprised her role from Desperado by appearing in the final film of the Mariachi Trilogy, Once Upon a Time in Mexico. In that same year she produced and directed the The Maldonado Miracle, a Showtime movie which won her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children/Youth/Family Special. In December 2005 she directed a music video for Prince, titled Te Amo Corazon ("I love you, sweetheart") that featured her good friend Mia Maestro.

Hayek is an executive producer of Ugly Betty, television series airing around the world since September 2006. Hayek adapted the series for American television with Ben Silverman, who acquired the rights and scripts from the Colombian Telenovela Yo Soy Betty La Fea in 2001. Originally intended as a half hour sitcom for NBC in 2004, the project would later be picked up by ABC for the 2006-2007 season with Silvio Horta also producing. Hayek guest-starred on Ugly Betty as Sofia Reyes, a magazine editor. She also had a cameo playing an actress in the telenovela within the show. The show quickly became a ratings hit and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series in 2007. Hayek's performance as Sofia has resulted in a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Hayek has also been credited as a song performer in three movies. The first was Desperado for the song Quedate Aquí. In Frida she performed with band Los Vega the Mexican folk song La Bruja. She also recorded Siente mi amor, which played during the end credits of Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

In April 2007 Hayek finalized negotiations with MGM to become the CEO of her own Latin themed film production company, Ventanazul. The following month she signed a two year deal with ABC to develop projects for the network through her production company, Ventanarosa.

She is developing and producing La Banda, a Spanish-language romantic comedy set in Mexico, written by Issa Lopez.

Hayek has been a spokesperson for Avon Products, Inc. since February 2004. She formerly served in the same function for Revlon in 1998. In 2001, she modeled for Chopard and was featured in 2006 Campari adverts as photographed by Mario Testino. On April 3rd of that year she helped introduce La Doña, a watch by Cartier inspired by fellow Mexican actress María Félix.

She was also featured in a series of Spanish language commercials for Lincoln cars. Consequently sales of the Lincoln Navigator among Hispanics increased by twelve percentage points.

Hayek is a naturalized U.S. citizen. She dated actor Edward Norton between 1999 and 2003, and then Josh Lucas in 2003. She has homes in Los Angeles and Mexico and is best friends with Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. The two co-starred in the 2006 film Bandidas. Hayek studied at Ramtha's School of Enlightenment.

On March 9, 2007, Salma confirmed she was expecting her first child with PPR CEO François-Henri Pinault. On September 21, 2007, Hayek gave birth to daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

For over a decade now, Daisy Fuentes has shown aspiring Latina entertainers how a little determination and a lot of hard work can go a long way. Born in Cuba, Fuentes moved to New Jersey at the age of 7. Her career began when she was plucked from her communications studies at college to become a news anchor for one of New York's Spanish-speaking stations. The bilingual reporter later became the first VJ to appear on both MTV and MTV Latino, where she hosted a string of programs. She's since graced dozens of magazine covers as a model and dabbled in acting, both on television ("Loving," "Cybill") and in movies ("Curdled"), all the while embracing her roots. "I truly believe that if it weren't for my Spanish heritage, I might not be doing what I'm doing. Spanish TV gave me a chance before anyone else did."

Daisy Fuentes was born in Cuba, but moved to Madrid, Spain when she was three years old. Four years later, she emigrated to Harrison, New Jersey. Fuentes studied communications and journalism at Bergen Community College, finally being selected as the weather-girl for WNJU Channel 47, a Telemundo station. She quickly moved up the ranks, eventually becoming news anchor and reporter for the evening news. MTV took notice of the 19-year-old and snatched her up as host of MTV Internacional, which later became MTV en Español and later MTV Latin America. She began to develop acting credits and landed a role on the ABC soap opera Loving. Fuentes had appearances on shows such as Dream On, The Larry Sanders Show, and Cybill. From 1994 to 1995, she hosted her own talk show, Daisy, on CNBC. She was the host of America's Funniest Home Videos for three seasons. She hosted The ALMA Awards, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the 1998 World Music Awards, the 1999 Billboard Latin Awards, and the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, and Miss Universe pageants. She has been a spokesmodel for Revlon, American Express, Pantene, M&M's, and Miller Lite. She was married once, but later divorced. She is currently engaged to ex-Bros member Matt Goss, who is the twin brother of well-known movie actor Luke Goss.

Fuentes played on the World Poker Tour in the Hollywood Home games for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charity. She also has designed a clothing line bearing her name, sold exclusively by Kohl's Department Stores.

She and fiance Matt Goss reside in the Los Angeles area, with their two dogs, Alfie and Rita.

Now, with her debut English-speaking album set to storm the charts, Thal?a is poised to become the latest one-name Hispanic artist to enjoy crossover success in the U.S. Born Ariadna Thal?a Sodi Miranda, the young star-to-be made her debut with the kid group Din Din, later graduating to Mexican teen pop with Timbiriche while appearing on two of Mexico's famous telenovelas. Her first self-titled solo album was released in 1990, and in the years since, Thal?a has looked forward to the day when she could conquer the language barrier to bring her music to a wider audience. "My new album is an opportunity to expand my music, my message, and my love for life in English," she told Hispanic Magazine in June. "I feel more comfortable now, talking in English and singing in it."

Eva Mendes didn't set out to be an actress. In fact, the Houston-born Cuban-American beauty reportedly took her first feature-film gig to make some extra cash between semesters as a marketing major at Cal State University, Northridge. But all that changed when an agent spotted her picture at a photographer friend's house. Over the last few years Mendes has become one of the hardest-working Latinas in show business, going from appearances in videos by Will Smith and Aerosmith to sizable roles in "Training Day," "2 Fast 2 Furious," and "Out of Time." "I don't see myself as a Latin or Hispanic actress," she once told the press. "I see myself as an actress, then I happen to be Latin, and I happen to be a woman. ... But I feel I'll take on the responsibility of showing the world a whole different kind of Latin woman."

Mendes was born in Miami, Floridato "lower-middle-class"Cuban-American parents and was raised in Los Angeles by her mother after her parents' divorce; Mendes has said that her mother "suffered so much to make my life OK" during her early years.Her father is a car salesman and her mother, Eva, is now an elementary school principal. As a child, Mendes was teased about her "buck teeth."She went to Hoover High School in Glendale, California and later attended California State University, Northridge to study Marketing but dropped out to seek an acting career. She studied with Ivana Chubbuck.

Mendes worked her way up through commercials to music videos (including an appearance in Will Smith's video "Miami" and a Pet Shop Boys music video in 1996) to guest roles in television soap operas and supporting film roles. She received her first big-screen break when she appeared in the award-winning and critically-acclaimed Training Day. That performance led to roles in Stuck on You, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and as the female lead in the comedy Hitch opposite Will Smith. Her role in Once Upon a Time in Mexico also gave her a nomination at the Teen Choice Awards. She has been in multiple major movie projects, the more recent, Ghost Rider, in which she costars along with Nicolas Cage. Eva also stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, and Robert Duvall in the upcoming film We Own the Night, set to open on October 12, 2007.

Mendes is a spokesmodel for Revlon. She has also worked in interior design and has written children's books. Maxim ranked her #27 in its 2006 Hot 100 issue and # 7 in 2007. In July of 2007, Eva also appeared on the cover of the last issue of Jane Magazine.

Mendes has been in a long-term relationship with film maker George Gargurevich.She lives in the Hollywood Hills. When not on the set she loves music, hiking, biking, skiing, mountain climbing and interior design. Her favorite movies are The Shining (1980), Blowup (1966) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004).

What a decade it's been for Roselyn Sanchez. Though the former Ms. America Petite had already made a brief appearance in the 1992 comedy "Captain Ron" before she won her title, the Latin lovely had no idea at the time what Hollywood had in store for her. After appearing in ill-fated series like "Fame L.A." and "Holden Caulfield: Year One," the big screen beckoned once again and Sanchez made her unforgettable breakthrough as Isabella Molinia in 2001's "Rush Hour 2." Not bad for a girl from San Juan, Puerto Rico. "I trained for many years, singing, dancing, and acting, and then started doing TV, little things here and there," she recently told About.com. "Even though the stuff I'm doing right now is relatively easy, I think in the future I would love to play things that have nothing to do with me, and that's good."

Roselyn is the youngest of four siblings, having three older brothers. She received her primary education in San Juan. At a young age, she showed an interest in both dancing and acting and would put on shows for her family.

In 1991, at the age of 18, Roselyn moved to New York City, where she took classes in dancing, acting and singing. She returned to Puerto Rico and in 1992, she made her movie debut, having landed a small part as an island girl in the movie Captain Ron, which was partly filmed on the island, starring Martin Short and Kurt Russell.

Roselyn enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico, where, like her father and brothers, she was to study marketing. However, this was not her calling, and after three years, she left the course.

In Puerto Rico, she gained public attention as a dancer and co-host of an island's variety show called Que Vacilon. At that time, in 1993, Roselyn won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest and in 1994 she won the international title of Miss America Petite. The contest rose Sanchez to international fame.

Roselyn has been named to numerous annual lists of beautiful women including Maxim Magazine Hot 100 in 2001, 2002 and 2006; AskMen.com's Top 99 Most Desirable Women in 2005 and 2006; FHM Magazine 100 Sexiest Women in 2005 and 2006.

Roselyn returned to New York and landed her first English speaking role in the CBS soap opera, As The World Turns. She played the role of "Pilar Domingo" from 1996 until 1997.

In 2001, Roselyn was cast as "Isabella Molina", an undercover United States Secret Service agent who was Jackie Chan's love interest in the hit movie Rush Hour 2. In 2003, she played the role of "Lorena" in the movie Chasing Papi starring alongside Jaci Velasquez and Sofia Vergara.

Roselyn Sanchez has already acted in 20 movies, including the role of Maria in Edison as well as the role of Karen Lopez in Underclassman. She also starred in the Puerto Rican film Cayo released in 2005.

She is in the process of composing a musical about a singer/dancer/actress who leaves Puerto Rico to hit the big time in New York, in this she is going to play the principal part. She is preparing for her role in The Perfect Sleep, a neo-noir drama, where she is co-staring with Patrick Bauchau, Tony Amendola, Isaac Singleton, and Peter Lucas.

In the Fall of 2005, she joined the cast of Without a Trace, where she plays Agent Elena Delgado.

In 2007, she released the film Yellow. Also in 2007, she acted as Monique, Peyton's ballet teacher in The Game Plan.

In 2005, her first musical recording Borinqueña was released. The album first single "Amor Amor" gained a lot of attention as well as a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Music Video.

Appears in the Fabolous video for "Make Me Better".

Sánchez was married to actor Gary Stretch from 1999 to 2001. After her divorce, she started a relationship with Puerto Rican salsa singer, Víctor Manuelle. However, in December 2005, she announced that she had ended their relationship. The separation was amicable. Currently, she has been dating actor Eric Winter for over a year.

Roselyn is a supporter of animal rights and active member of PETA. She recently appeared nude in a PETA ad in support of anti-fur campaign efforts.
