I have been learning English for almost seven years. That is why, I wanted to create a blog to share my experience about learning the English Language with people from all over the world to be able to help them. I like travelling and taking photos. TEFL Diary Day 1

TEFL Course Day 1
My Tefl course has started today. It has taken place in a school called Saint Georges International. I was late for the first lesson because of not being able to sleep last night. I was so nervous about the course as well as I was excited. I had finally had a place in a Tefl course after studying hard to learn the English language. It was amazing!

When I arrive there in the morning, they had already started. The first lesson was about warming and welcoming us to the course and she was giving given some information about the course. There were 14 people in the class. Few of them are foreigners like me and others are English. We were divided into groups of three people to get to know each other and to tell each other a bit about us and about why we want to take the Tefl course. Soon we warmed to each other as we did warm to the lesson. Before she finished the lesson, she had divided us into three groups and gave us our teaching practice arrangement papers and school time table. We will work together as a team and help each other till the end of the course.

After having half an hour break new lesson begin with another teacher called Barney. He gave a lesson about how to teach vocabulary. We learned the stages of teaching vocabulary and also what to consider when we are choosing words to teach students. It was a pleasant lesson and we all liked him.

We had forty five minutes break and another lesson began afterwards. Its subject was 'Preparation for Teaching'. It was guided by one of the teachers called Steven. We were going to start our first teaching session at half past three. That is why we had this lesson and him to help us how to prepare our lesson plan. First teaching was going to be meeting our students. We were going to play games, for that reason we were given a warmer activity paper to choose some games to play with them. We prepared for it for two hours.

Before half past three, we went to our classroom in which we were going to teach and made arrangements there. We had four students and a teacher who was going to observe out teaching. We started with a ball game to get to know our names and nationalities. First person who had the ball said their first name and thrown the ball at another person and after each of us did the same thing, the ball game finished. After that all of us explained their games and students played them.

After the lesson the teacher who was observing us gave us some feedback. She told us where we did mistakes and gave us nex lesson's topics. Each of us chose one topic to teach next time.

Cornwall Visit

We went on holiday to Cornwall. It was planned to last one week and booked for ten people. We booked two caravans, and it cost us 400 pounds.

On Saturday evening we set off for the road. After driving through London, we left the city heading south towards Cornwall. On the way we stopped at a petrol station to get some gas and at another one to get some refreshments. We were very excited about the trip. Every one of us was looking forward to having a holiday after working hard the whole year. We had a nice time on the way. We had chatted amongst ourselves and some of us slept for a while. It rained a short while then it stopped, but there was a patch of fog further on.

It took us six hours to get to Tencreek Park where the caravans were located. We really liked the scenery the moment we set eyes on it. The caravans were situated on a hill overlooking the sea. At a glance it seemed like there were at least a hundred of them.

We entered our caravan. It we designed very much like a small house. Every caravan had 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. The living room had a sofa that could be converted into a double sized bed. After allocating the rooms we went to bed so that we could have some rest after our long journey.

Although I could not sleep till four o'clock in the morning, I woke up very early. We gathered in our caravan and made breakfast together. It was a good breakfast and a healthy one. Everyone contributed some dish for use at breakfast. There was fried pastry, sausages, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuces, green and black olives, feta cheese and some eggs, that is to say it was a typical Mediterranean breakfast and everyone ate a lot.

After breakfast, as we decided, we set off for to see Eden Project which is open to the public but has been under construction since 1998 and is still not completed. They built two big green houses and started to plant trees from all over the world in a temperature controlled environment, which enables tropical and temperate trees to grow. It is said that it is going to be the eighth wonder of the world. We saw many plants and trees there such as; banana, coconut, papaya, cashew, bamboo, rubber and cocoa trees. One of our friends from St Lucia and he explained many things about the plants. It was like a guided tour, so we felt lucky to have him with us. Since it is not difficult to build a green house whenever you want, I do not think it should be called the world’s eighth wonder. However when I thought about the time the project started, then it can be considered as such.

Our second day we went to a town called Newquay which is close to Tencreek Caravan Park where we stayed. I was very worried that morning as I discovered that I left my camera charger at home. The situation did not improve as Curry's and Jesops, two of the best places to get replacements said that they did not stock them. The problem was solved when one of our friends, due to stay with us the following day, said that he could bring one.

There we saw the ocean and even though it was Christmas eve there were up to fifteen surfers in the water. We spent time on the beach watching them, collecting shells and photographing the birds and scenery. The view was spectacular. I had never seen the ocean before. So it was a good experience for me. There was a house built on a cliff by the beach and completely surrounded by the waves. The only connection to the main land was via a small bridge. We took some pictures there. There is also an aquarium which displays various fish and sea creatures for public enjoyment.
We walked around the town and did some shopping. Because it was Christmas the town center was crowded but enjoyable and relaxed.

Our third day was spent by visiting the town of Looe which is a small fishing village 10 minutes from Tencreek Caravan Park. We parked the cars at the entrance of the village and proceeded immediately along the retaining walls in the town center totally captivated by the view. We continued along to the town centre taking more photos of the local architecture and observing the various shops and businesses. We proceeded along the beach front where we collected shells and had the opportunity to take more photos. We walked as far as we could along the beach but, because the tide was coming in we were forced to climb a steep, narrow path back towards the town centre.

There were some very beautiful holiday homes in this lovely area. There was a very panoramic view of the sea area along the road in this location. We captured the view of the sea and the houses in question from that spot.
We retrieved cars and drove to the other side of the town in an effort to capture yet more of the wondrous splendor of the town of Looe.

Next day we all decided to stay at home because of the heavy rain. It rained all they. Some of us went to the nearest town to do some shopping. We stayed indoors, some watched TV, and some played card and other games that we brought with us. We cooked special dishes and had a lovely dinner in the evening.

We took a walk with a few friends on our fifth morning. We climb up and down the green hills following the narrow paths. It was a two and a half hour walk. We walked as much as we could, sometimes had rest for a few minutes and sometimes stopped to take the photos of breathtaking scenery of the sea again. It was windy and cold up there and in some places, because of the previous night's rain, the-already-rough terrain was also muddy. There were green grasses all over the place as well as bushes. We passed through the wooden doors and walk along the fences made by the land owners. I broke into a sweat as a result of wearing too many clothes on me so that I could protect myself from the wind. Fresh air made me exhausted; sometimes I really could not find any strength to walk. But overall except for being tired it was a highly delightful walk that I had done in five years. I had a sore throat and hoarse voice as a consequence of cold weather but walking made me feel good and surprisingly I got better afterwards.

Our next day was spent in caravans again due to rain. We chatted and played games as we did the other day. In the night we wanted to go to another fishing village called Porpello which is ten minutes away from the Caravan Park. Because of Christmas all the village was decorated with the lights. They had given the village a very nice view. As soon as we walked through the narrow streets, we were captivated by the magnificent sights. The streets were getting narrower as we walk through. We went to the small harbour of the village following the road sings. The view suddenly got more magnificent in our eyes. We were amazed for a little while and regretted not going there earlier. After finishing our tour around the village in a short time because of the cold, promising to come back there next morning before set off for the road, we went back to the Caravan Park. As we were driving back to the park, it started to rain again and it worsened. After long hour's rain, a terrible storm broke and it continued all night. I was terrified by its speed, because it was shaking our caravan.

We rose very early in the morning. After having a delicious and satisfying breakfast we prepared for the road. As we decided we went to Porpello again. The village was as beautiful as it was in the previous night. We had half an hour to walk around the village and take pictures. We passed through the narrow streets to go to the harbour we had seen the other night. It really was a small harbour and there were some boats inside it. Half of it was surrounded by houses. Luckily we had sun shining in the sky, so we took nice pictures. Nearly forty minutes later we left the village and set off for the road again to go back to London.

On the way we talked about our holiday, sang some songs together. We were returning home feeling happy and relaxed. It was an excellent one week for us.

Camden Lock Market

Hi guys
London's one of the famous and busiest markets is Camden Lock Market. It is situated in Camden Town. Bus 29 passes from there and if you want to use tube you can go there with the Northern line or the Vitoria line. Before you go, checking the place on the map will be useful to you.
In Camden Lock market you can find lots of stuff to buy. Especially jewellery. I love silver and they have lots of stalls for silver. You can find other kinds of jewellery as well. There is a man sells jade stone that comes from New Zeland, some sell candles, some sell stuff made of wood, some sell clothes and clothing accessories. You can find lots of things there. What you should do is to go there and have a look around in the market.

Paris Tour

Hi guys
Last week I was in Paris for four days. I bought our tickets from a web site on the web. It was a four days Paris tour. Price was reasonable for a student. Although it was tring, it was a good break for me. Living in London is absolutely exhausting and everyone needs breaks and go out of country for a while. We traveled by Euro Star. It took aproximetely two and a half hout to get to Paris. Our tour guide, Mike, took us to our hotel. After having a bit rest and unpacking we went out to explore Paris.
First day we went to see the Eiffel Tower and can say that it is absolutely amazing and unbeliavable. For four days we went to see it and it was still unbelievable for me. I could not believe that I was there in front of the Eiffel Tower finally. Gosh! Though, I cannot still believe that had happened. I mean, I went to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower. Waw!
Second day we went on a tour by bus and boat to see the monuments. They are, Arc de Triamphe, Musée du Louvre, Notre Dame, La Madeleine, Place de la Concorde, Opéra Garnier. We did not stop to visit them, I just took their pictures.
Third day we went on the bus tour again to visit the monuments. I did not want to see all of them that is why we just went to Arc de Triomphe, Musée du Louvre, Notre Dame and see inside of them. Architecture is perfect. I took lots of pictures.Last day we just went to see the Eiffel tower for the last time and walk in Champs-Élysées for a while. While we were walking around I bought some souvenirs for me and for my family.
Finally we went back to our hotel to get our luggage and after that we set off to Eurostar station. The trip ended with nice thoughts in our minds. At the end of the last day we were all tired but happy. I will never forget it.I would like to thank Mike for this tour to Paris. It was excellent. I will definetely go on some trips with him again. Eiffel Tower Pictures

Short Tefl Course

Hi guysThis time I am going to write about TEFL Teaching English as a Foreign Language). If you take a TEFL course you can get a certificate of teaching in English and you can teach English in many countries. I started taking a short Tefl course few weeks ago and it finished last week. It is a short Tefl Course. If you do not have much time to take an intensive Tefl course that takes one month and up to nine hours a day , you should consider taking this short Tefl course.
It takes one month. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday between 6pmand 9pm, Saturdays from 9.30 am till 5.30 pm.Lessons are really fun except for learning how to teach in the classroom. After learning some basics about teaching, you teach in a real classroom three times for about half an hour during your course. I was very nervous before I started my first lesson but then it went well. Second time my teaching was better than the first one.
We took our lessons in a language course called Malvern House. I must say that it is a good school. Our teachers were both good and qualified teachers. We all benefited from them. I am thinking of taking an intensive Tefl course soon. If you guys want to take this course there is a web site, which is very good at Tefl courses, for it. I will copy its address here.

Learning English

Hi everyone
I have been preparing for Cambridge Advanced English exam that is going to be held in June. Two weeks ago,I registered for an English class which is going to take eight weeks. But I did not like the teacher, I mean the way she teaches. So I am not going there anymore. Most of the schools are the same in London. If you are lucky, you will have a good teacher who teaches very well and you enjoy the lessons. If you are not lucky, you lose your money.Last week, while I was searching on the internet about learning English,I come accross an internet site. It was about Paltalk and I downloaded paltaLk to my computer. Later on I found some chat rooms about teaching English. In the rooms some people, who are from all around the world, teach English. You can speak there, as well.In a short time, I became friends with some of them and joined the rooms in order to listen to them or speak in the room. Meanwhile, I met someone whose nick Fad and he gave me an internet site address. It is an Ielts preparation site and I really like learning from that site. Thay is why, I wanted to post this blog to recommend it to you. I hope you go there, try and get some benefit like me.
