Hello Monday – hope everyone had a great weekend…

Tee Off. Looking for some new (albeit sweaty) summer fun? Lather your munchkins in sunscreen, pack some water & head to Palmetto Mini Golf. The course is open seven days a week from 10am to 8pm (9pm on Friday & Saturday) and is stocked with 18 holes of waterfalls, pools, foliage & munchkin-sized fun. Older kids will like sharpening their skills, little ones will love the pint-sized setting and parents will love the hour of entertainment. One caveat – call ahead to make sure the course isn’t reserved for a field trip or special event. Make a morning of it with brunch (or lunch) at nearby Lots of Lox Deli for old school deli deliciousness.
Get Festive. Lots of fun happening in the Magic City this week. Tuesday treat your little ones to a Princess & Superheroes Disco Party at Café Bambini, Wednesday celebrate the grand opening of Sunkist Park Playground, Thursday head to MCM for Tale of Peter Rabbit stories & crafts in honor of Beatrix Potter’s birthday and Saturday get sporty at the Miami Soccer Festival in Kendall.

Go blue with the Smurfs, celebrate summer at Miami Intl Mall, have fun with food at the Gold Coast Rail Road Museum, treat your sweet tooth to cheesecake, have a dance party at the Arsht Center, Dine with Diego at Zoo Miami and play with shadow puppets in the Gables.

Happy weekend! Let the relaxation begin

Friday kick start the fun with some ice cream & air conditioned arts & crafts at Gables ice cream shot Cocolimon. Come 6pm, head to Miami International Mall for a theatrical performance by the Alegria Perofrming Arts Center courtesy of Family Fun Fridays.
Saturday head south to celebrate back to school season with Sprinkles Magazine at Southland Mall. Alternately, hang out with NFL players in North Miami Beach, brush up on bike safety in West Kendall or decorate cupcakes in Bloomingdales Aventura.
Sunday, get your groove on at Zo’s Summer Groove Block Party at Sun Life Stadium, feast on food trucks at Haulover Beach, drum for wellness at MCM or catch a film at the International Film Series for Children in the Gables.

Love the Library. We love a good library – air conditioned, free and filled with munchkin-friendly programming. Check your local branch for weekly baby, toddler, preschooler and/or family storytimes then book your calendar with special events like an Eco-Man show, an around the world scavenger hunt, a birthday bash and an end-of-the-season soiree with Ronald McDonald.
Park Hop. Stuck in a playground rut? Change it up this week with a trip to North Miami’s Oleta River State Park. Billed as Florida’s largest urban park, Oleta is a munchkin bonanza of fun waiting to happen. Rent kayaks and paddle the river, slip into suits and swim along the 1,200-foot beach or bring your bike and hit the 10 miles of trails. Top it all off with a picnic.
Seek Solace. Temps are climbing & camp and classes are winding down, which means mommy needs some distractions – stat. Browse our calendar for movies, markets, food truck fiestas & Spa Month bliss. Come sunset, celebrate summer at Miami International Mall, bowl for rhinos at Bird Bowl, get your grove on at a Big Night in Little Haiti or enjoy a Parent’s Night Out in Aventura or Coral Gables.
Saturday enjoy arts & crafts, balloon art & face painting at Kidville Miami’s grand opening, walk the plank at pirate camp at the Seaquarium, P.L.A.Y. for free at Deering Estate or get in the kitchen with the MCM kids cooking club.
Sunday beat the heat with a trip to the Gables for the International Film Series for Children. Alternately, head to Haulover Park for grilled cheese, tacos, pizza and more at the food truck fiesta.

Amelia Bedelia’s First Field Trip

Amelia and her classmates are going on their first field trip – to a farm stocked with cows, chickens, gardens and pun opportunities galore. Hit the Big Screen. It’s a big movie week in the Magic City. Winnie the Pooh & Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 make their big screen debut Friday. Friendly, upbeat Pooh clocks in at about an hour – a great first movie for mini munchkins. Looking for something a bit different? Dive into Grapeland Water Park Saturday for a poolside screening of Despicable Me.
Make it a Family Night Out. Thursday is family night all over town. The Beach hosts its annual Playground Revue at the Fillmore while Tamiami Park Fairgrounds treat locals to a food truck feast from 6-11pm.
Weekend Plan. Is it Friday yet? Lots to look forward to – celebrate part b of Kidville Miami’s grand opening, get acquainted with Madeline & the Gypsies, indulge in a summer shopping extravaganza, enjoy some free P.L.A.Y at Deering Estate, feast on a food truck weekend at Haulover Park or catch a film courtesy of the International Film Series for Children in the Gables.
