The color experts at Pantone Color institute created an interactive online report combining Pantone’s top 10 colors for the season with illustrative designer sketches. Some of my best work happens when I am eating chocolate. The chocolate dessert that calls my name all the time? Mr. Chocolate Cremoso. He lives at Michael’s Genuine Food in Miami’s Design District and is a mixture of milk chocolate, olive oil and sea salt. Because I am a nice person and I like you, I am sharing Executive Pastry Chef Hedy Goldsmith’s famous recipe for this decadent milk-chocolate cremoso. You are welcome.

My childhood Saturday mornings included sounds of Eydie Gormé y Los Panchos loudly playing, me asking my mom for apple pancakes and my father nearby reading the paper (occasionally belting out parts of the canción). Wonderful memories and a wonderful introduction to the beauty of music. I loved Bolero because I could feel what they were singing, even if I didn’t understand the words. Then when I learned Spanish, I was like, “dang, that’s some serious heartache” or “dang, that’s some deep love.” I would not be surprised if these love songs planted the wedding planner seed in me. And all that time they thought they were grooming a mini-Matlock. Ha ha.

P.S. Maya Angelou once told me that “good music is good music, irrespective of the genre or language, because it’s from the heart and we have the same heart.” Wise woman. Anyhow, gotta run. Time to make some pancakes for my family and play my Eydie Gormé y Los Panchos album. Miss you dearly Dad.

En masse they look like a flutter of regal butterflies. Standing alone they look like a sophisticated sleek lady. Any way you put it, I love working with phalaenopsis orchids.

What Should I Do with my Nails Nat?

I think every bride has asked me the question, “What should I do with my nails, Nat?” Simple answer. Chanel Inattendu Nail Polish. Only one thing needs to stand out on your hand on your wedding day: that sweet ring you’ll be wearing for the rest of your life. Besides, Mademoiselle Coco always said nude nails were the epitome of elegance.

P.S. Can I tell you how much it still hurts that hubby vetoed me TWICE on naming each of our daughters Coco. Ugh.

I still curl up to read my old Domino Magazines for inspiration for my events. So many wonderful ideas on decor, color combinations and textiles. The October 2008 issue is one of my favorites. Kelley Wearstler, queen of Hollywood Regency, graced the cover and shared some great styling tips. I wish Domino Magazine would find its way back to my mailbox.

P.S. Two years later, I still want those shoes.

Can’t say I am a fan of the cold weather (I’m an island girl for life) but I do love me some fall clothing and fall colors. Such regal and rich tones. I guess it doesn’t hurt that cold weather leads to more cuddling, which leads to more love, which leads to more weddings, which leads to more phone calls for me. And you all know how I love to chat. What does your fall dream wedding look like? Inquiring minds want to know.

Mermaid Wedding Dresses

Looks like mermaid wedding dresses are best friends again with the cool girls. Supermodel Coco Rocha recently donned a stunning Zac Posen mermaid gown at her wedding in France. And actress Hillary Duff looked like a fairy princess in her Vera Wang gown. All of a sudden I am in the mood to watch the movie Splash again. I use to obsess over Daryl Hannah’s sequined mermaid tail.
