Honestly I haven’t seen ANY of the other shows and I am not interested in watching them.   So I would say that Dexter should win just because I have interested enough to watch all five seasons more than once.  There is no other show that is as gritty, gripping, and at the same time darkly humorous as Dexter.  Also, no other show has Michael C. Hall!

A: I watch a lot of sports on TV. As far as series go, I often catch up with stuff. I just picked up all of the DVDs of Breaking Bad, which I haven’t seen yet. I’m looking forward to doing a marathon of that. Just recently, I made my way through The Wire well after the fact. That show is mind-blowing. The expansiveness of their storytelling is just unbelievable, and I think Omar is one of the greatest characters in the history of television.

My husband and I have really enjoyed the Dexter series, especially the role of Dexter. It’s a shame, I never caught much of Six Feet Under to see some of Mr. Hall’s other work. I’ll have to go back and check it out some time.

After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.

I was away for many days at the first of the month and just busy with other things these past few weeks but I have slowly been catching up screencaps of the missing episodes of this season of Dexter. Episodes 5×05-5×07 have been added, with 5×08 to be sorted sometime tomorrow and I’ll cap tonight’s episode (Nov. 21) later as early as possible! Check out all the HD caps in the gallery. Everyone dies, Jonny Lee Miller’s self-help guru – and suspected serial kidnapper – Jordan Chase said in a recent episode of Dexter.

And every story has an end, even Dexter Morgan’s.

In person, Michael C. Hall, the veteran Broadway actor who has played moonlighting vigilante murderer Dexter Morgan for five seasons on the Emmy-nominated Dexter, is circumspect and soft-spoken – about his personal battle with cancer, about the dividing line between real life and playing a fictional character, and about his character’s future. However it ends for Dexter Morgan, Hall told Postmedia News it can’t end well.

“As I think about it, I think it’s hard – especially after the way the fourth season ended – to imagine Dexter walking off into the sunset,” Hall said quietly. “I think we’ve made a choice that suggests there are going to be real consequences for the way this man has conducted his life. Beyond that, I really don’t know – though we’re certainly coming to a time where we’re starting to talk about what the end game might be.”

The current season, in which Dexter Morgan has found an unwanted co-conspirator and protegee in recovering kidnap victim Lumen Pierce, played by Julia Stiles, has been particularly gruelling, Hall admits. The burden has been more emotional than physical, though.

“This season has been uniquely challenging,” Hall admitted. “This show has always felt like walking a tightrope, one that honors Dexter’s emerging humanity and broader experience of himself as a human being. But this is the first time there have been real consequences. And I think Dexter, in ways that he never anticipated, is confronting those consequences. There’s a disconnect between what he understands and what he feels. I don’t think he can deny that he’s about to face what his indulgence has wrought. And I think that, in his way, he wants to atone for his sins.

“Dexter is not going to completely change his ways. He’s going to continue to give into his compulsions. But the theme of atonement is very prominent this season – and I don’t think that was on anyone’s radar, when we started.”

Hall got a personal scare earlier this year when, in January, he was diagnosed with a treatable form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The cancer is in remission, but Hall is continuing treatment.

Ironically, Hall’s tour of the award-show circuit at the beginning of the year – including January’s Golden Globes, where Dexter garnered awards for both Hall as best actor and John Lithgow as best supporting actor – helped keep Hall preoccupied while he was dealing with his cancer.

“It’s been a tough year, but it’s been an amazing year, too,” Hall said softly. “Thankfully, the Hodgkin’s, or my treatment, rather, coincided with our hiatus, so I was able to deal with it without interrupting our production schedule. Which was nice for me, and nice for others, too, because this show employs a lot of people.

“I was glad to receive the support that I did, from strangers, but also from people who had been part of my life but weren’t necessarily in that circle of people that I’d let know about it. And in as much as it meant something to people who themselves had gone through it, or were going through treatments, that was gratifying, too, to know that it meant something to them.”

Dexter‘s season ends Dec. 12. Inevitably, it will leave Dexter Morgan in a characteristically difficult situation, which, this time, he might not be able to extricate himself from. A sixth season has already been decided. Beyond that, Hall doesn’t know what the future holds.

“Dexter continues to evolve, but I do have an appetite to play different characters. Certainly, I look forward to the possibility of wrapping my head around some other person before I head back to work in the spring. At the same time, I feel so lucky to continue with a show and a character that continues to challenge me and keep me on my toes. I find that, while I’ve been playing him for a long time, he’s as elusive as he’s ever been – which is kind of great.”

Dexter Morgan sleeps just fine at night, Hall added.

“He doesn’t lose sleep over the things he does. I think he loses sleep for logistical reasons. But when he puts his head on his pillow, I don’t think he has much trouble sleeping, and I don’t think he’s much of a dreamer.”

For a boutique cable drama, Dexter has achieved remarkable success. Last season’s finale on the U.S. pay-cable channel Showtime was seen by nearly three million U.S. viewers, making it Showtime’s most-watched program in more than 10 years. It has been licensed in more than 200 markets around the world, according to its producing partner CBS Studios International. In Canada, Dexter remains one of The Movie Network and Movie Central’s biggest draws.

“I don’t think any of us imagined, when we began, that this show would have as broad an appeal as it has. That’s been a pleasant surprise.”

Once Dexter ends for good, as it surely will, Hall will be looking for a change of pace in his next role, something different from both Dexter and Six Feet Under, in which he played mortician David Fisher for five seasons.

“I recognize that I’m primarily associated with Dexter or with David Fisher at this point,” he said. “I don’t know that that’ll ever change, and I’m OK with that. But next time, I want to be able to do something that won’t require me to be surrounded by dead bodies. I’m totally serious. I’d like to play more normal, everyday characters under extraordinary circumstances, as opposed to characters who are uniquely extraordinary at something.

“But I never knew David was around the corner, and when that ended, I didn’t know Dexter was around the corner. So I’d like to think there are other characters in my future, that I can’t tell you about right now.”

Dexter airs Sundays on The Movie Network at 10 ET and Movie Central at 10 MT/9 PT. The season finale airs Dec. 12.

Michael C. Hall, known as either the gay guy from Six Feet Under or the badass in Dexter, here plays a giant coward who does nothing when his father (Ron Rifkin) gives him a good tongue-lashing. It’s nice to see Hall spread out his abilities. He’s now completed the trifecta in acting (gay, badass, sissy).

Peep World plays out like a 90 minute episode of your favorite sitcom. Larry David, Bill Cosby, Ray Romano, etc. should be proud of director Barry W. Blaustein’s latest work. Every decision the characters make on screen result in an awkward and hilarious moment nobody wants to get caught in. The only thought that comes to mind is: better them than me. Peep World is a strangly enjoyable look at how sometimes family can be an asshole. Not mine, of course.
