Studio shooting…

A friend, Kellie, was visiting from Geraldton last week and we managed to get a quick studio shoot in.
Well studio’ish, instead of booking the studio we decided to build a studio in the garage, nothing fancy just a big white backdrops and some lights.
I am pretty happy with the results, check them out

Albany Sunrise

Just back from a long weekend visit to Albany. It’s the town where I grew up, also one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Not a completely photography orientated trip but I still managed to take a few shots.
The shot above was taken before setting out for the Stirling Ranges to climb Bluff Knoll. So lucky to be able to experience a sunrise over the ocean in Western Australia, really is a beautiful thing.
After a beautiful sunrise we set out for the Stirling Ranges to climb Bluff Knoll. Managed to avoid the worst weather with our timing, it started to pour just after we got back from the car. Whilst not a perfectly clear sky when we reached the top, managed to take the shot below on the way up. If you look hard, you can just make out the car park we set out from in the bottom right hand corner.

Amy & Matt’s Wedding

Well a little late, but better late than never.
Just a few shots from a good friends wedding I travelled to Melbourne to photograph.
Was a great day, thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Amy and meeting her fiancée come husband.

Been a while…

Been a while since updated the blog. Over the next few days will upload some shots from recent shoots and some travelling shots as well.
In the meantime in the name of all things vain, here are a few self portraits.
Much prefer to be the one behind the camera then in front of the lens, but still can be fun to muck around a bit at times.
This was a very straightforward set-up consisting of a single Nikon SB800 shooting through a half shrouded umbrella and a solid black background. This is a great way to play with shadows. For triggering the camera I used a aputure coworker remote release. Images were shot on the D300 using the Nikon 35mm 1.8 prime lens.

Panics and WASO Perform in Kings Park

Last night I went and shot the Panics performing with WASO in Kings Park.

With the full orchestra backing them and the surroundings of Kings park it was a pretty surreal performance, definitely worth seeing. Have enjoyed their music for a while and was surprised at how well it blended with the compositions of the orchestra. If you ever get a chance to see this, I highly recommend it.

Megan Washington was the support act, and whilst I hadn’t heard much from her before will be sure to listen to her in the future.

Denmark – Greens pool

Last week I travelled down south for a short visit to Denmark. Was only there for a few days and the majority of that time was spent ambling about Greens pool and Elephant rocks. Unfortunately the weather was being typical for teh region and very heavy cloud cover.
On the last evening down there though there was a brief break in the cloud cover and some nice colours came through.
Very wild and beautiful place.
