Dr. Conrad Murray Faces Charges In Michael Jackson Death

Dr. Conrad Murray, MD is the cardiologist accused of playing a role in the death of music legend Michael Jackson. Murray is a licensed doctor who had been acting as Jackson’s personal physician in the state of California. He had been hired by AEG Live executives to accompany Jackson on his upcoming tour.

The company claims they only hired the doctor because Jackson insisted. The pop star was familiar with Murray and felt comfortable with him. Murray had been treating Jackson for a little over three years. Jackson’s health was not a concern for the promoters but in order to keep the singer happy they fronted Jackson the cash up front to pay for the cost of having a doctor on staff.

Dr. Conrad Murray, MD is licensed in his home state of Texas as well as California, Hawaii and Nevada. He has practices set up in Texas and Nevada. His current residence listed is a country club community just outside of Las Vegas. He graduated in the top 50 percent at Meharry Medical College in 1989. He completed his internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University in 1992. He went on to complete his cardiology fellowship at the University of Arizona in 1995. Dr. Conrad Murray, MD also completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Foundation for Cardiovascular medicine in 1996. He has been practicing cardiology for 17 years.

At the time of Jackson’s death on June 25, 2009, Murray was in residence. He was performing CPR when the emergency service personnel arrived but disappeared after it was announced that Jackson had passed away. Murray has been accused of issuing a lethal drug cocktail that ultimately caused the singer’s death.

After nearly eight months since the singer’s death, Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter on February 8. Murray entered a not guilty plea on February 10. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison. He was released on 75,000 dollar bail and will be returning home to his family and practice. The judge also restricted his medical license, but it has not been revoked, yet. Dr. Conrad Murray, MD is not expected back in court until April.

The California attorney general has begun the process to revoke Murray’s medical license.

Chronicling the months from April through June 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show. Audiences will be given a privileged and private look at Jackson as he has never been seen before. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson's This Is It captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show. Directed by Kenny Ortega, who was both Michael Jackson's creative partner and the director of the stage show.

It's hard not to watch This Is It without feeling a mixture of sorrow and elation. When he passed away in the summer of 2009, Michael Jackson was in the midst of rehearsals for his final tour, an ambitious 50-date engagement. In editing 120 hours of rehearsal footage together, Jackson producer Kenny Ortega proves that it would've been an event for the ages. Michael performs material that spans his career, from a Motown medley to multi-platinum hits from Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Though he hadn't toured in 10 years, it becomes instantly apparent, despite rumors to the contrary, that Jackson was still in full possession of that unmistakable voice--high-pitched whoops and all--and that he still had the gravity-defying moves of a man half his age. Jackson and Ortega also collaborated on some real showstoppers, such as a graveyard-set "Thriller"; an imposing "They Don't Care About Us," in which several dancers appear to morph into thousands; and a film noir sequence in which the singer slides in and out of Gilda and other black-and-white classics, singing "Smooth Criminal" all the while. Not everything works, like the Jackson 5 numbers, in which he flubs a few lyrics, claiming that his earpiece isn't working properly, but as he readily acknowledges, "That's what rehearsal is for." It's a tragedy that he didn't get the chance to share this dazzling show with the world, but Ortega allows fans to feel as if it actually happened--at least onscreen.

Since the death of the beloved King Of Pop fans have wondered when someone would be charged for contributing to his early demise. Many think that those who prescribe drugs should be held responsible. Though personal responsibility is key in this case, it is clear that someone dropped the ball.
If Jackson was under the care of a doctor them one would think that Doctor would be responsible for MJ's care during that time.

According to ABC News "Dr. Conrad Murray, the Las Vegas-based cardiologist who was with Jackson when the pop singer died after receiving a lethal cocktail of painkillers and anesthetics June 25, has long been the focus of a homicide investigation.

Officially, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office said that no final decisions had been made in the Jackson case.

"We don't have a case. It hasn't been presented. Don't know when we'll get it," Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the DA's office, told ABC News.

Murray's lawyer said his client had not yet been made aware of any indictment.

"We have refused to comment on stories involving unnamed sources and will continue to do so. However, we can confirm that we have not received notice of an impaneled grand jury and Dr. Murray has not been invited to testify," said Ed Chernoff in a statement.

According to police reports, Murray found Jackson dead in the singer's Los Angeles rental home before administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation and calling 911.

In October, the coroner's office released a statement saying Jackson had died from an overdose of the hospital-grade anesthetic propofol.

The coroner also cited the powerful sedative benzodiazepine as contributing to the singer's death. A toxicology screen and search of Jackson's home found several other drugs in the singer's body and bedroom.

After the investigation, a slew of liens and lawsuits against Murray was discovered. In the last three years, Murray has faced lawsuits for unpaid business bills totaling over $700,000, including rent on his medical offices.

Since this man was hired to take care of Michael Jackson he was responsible for taking care of him. He should be charged if not for this case but to show other doctors this behavour will not be tolerated. Prescription drugs are a huge problem in the US. This man needs to be used as a example.

The case of Dr Murray needs to go in front of a Grand Jury then be sent to the DA's Office before the public will see further action taken against him.

If you've heard the songs "ABC", "Reach Out, I'll Be There" and "2-4-6-8" then I am sure you are familiar with the Motown teen idols The Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 consisted of five brothers from Eerie Indiana. Michael, Tito, Jackie, Jermaine and Marlon started blowing our minds with their angelic and innocent voices in 1968 and continued to be on the top of the charts until 1989. The most known member of this quintet was Michael Jackson who had passed away earlier this year on June 25th, 2009. Michael was not only the lead singer of The Jackson 5 but he also went on to have a very successful solo music career.

After Michael's passing the remaining Jackson 5 decided to sign on for a cable show that is called "The Jackson's: A Family Dynasty". This show premiered on the A&E network on December 13th, 2009. "The Jackson's: A Family Dynasty is a reality show that is expected to be extremely popular this season. The show is known to take a glimpse into the personal lives of the remaining brothers including all the sibling bickering, individual trials and tribulations and allowing viewers to watch the brothers as they get ready to celebrate their 40th anniversary and prepare to go back on the road for a tour.

With 2009 ending we thought a recap of the Jackson Brothers Television show would be in good taste.
Some may think that the family was capitalizing on their brothers death. The A&E show clearly tells the true story. The family had obligations before brother Michael died. That's all.

The new TV Show has several episodes starting with "The Jackson Family"
The Jackson Brother's announce their plans to do a 40th Anniversary Album, but all of this falls into jeopardy when Jackie erases Jermaine's vocals, infuriating him. To get back to their roots the brothers visit Gary Indiana. When Jermaine confronts his brothers about his departure from the Jackson 5 over 30 years ago, unresolved issues surface. The untimely death of their brother Michael puts their dream of a Jackson 5 reunion on hold...indefinitely.

The Aftermath:
After laying Michael to rest, the Jackson brothers learn that they're expected to make good on a concert agreement they signed before Michael's passing. With the fear of negative media attention so soon after Micheal's death and an apparent rift between Jermaine and his siblings, the brothers debate whether to go forward with the show.

The Documentary Movie is a inside look at the rehearsals at the Staples Center in LA. Jackson was said to upbeat and encouraged by the way rehearsal where proceeding. Great deal,i got it in about 2-3days which was also great,and of course its MJ so that is even Greater,thanks for the cd

My girl friend gave me this CD for Christmas, but my copy is only 1 disc! I only have the 16 track disc. It does say "disc 1" on the disc, but there is no other sign of a second disc. My copy is in a cardboard gatefold style jacket (like some LP's were issued in in the 70's) with a photo booklet in one jacket & the disc in the other. She bought this at Walmart for about the same price as here,too. I wish she'd gotten me "The Essential Michael Jackson", a true 2 CD set that covers Jackson's entire career instead.

I bought this cd just for the fact I had top quality songs to keep in the car. I was extremly shocked when I heard never before released demos of beat it and an acoustic version of she's out of my life. Good product

Michael sounds just like he did when he first sang these songs. My very favorite song on the CD is "This Is It". You get to hear him instruct the musicians in the beginning, and as you listen to the words and reflect on the title, you realize that perhaps Michael gave us this song as his last. It is beautiful and gives me chills everytime I play it. Marilyn

When Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, the artist was in the middle of preparing for his comeback tour. Millions of fans mourned not only the loss of the pop icon, but they also mourned over the concerts Jackson didn't live to perform. This Guy can really sing. This is one of the best YouTube Video Tributes to Michael Jackson so far. A Yale University junior is making a name for himself by honoring the legendary Michael Jackson. Along with a buddy from school he's created a video that appears to be an a Capella group performing a Michael Jackson medley.

You might be impressed with the vocals and even more impressed with the magical editing. Turns out they're all the same guy! Connecticut student Sam Tsui is wearing the same jeans and sneakers but 3 different shirts.

He's singing all the parts and his classmate, Kurt Schneider, standing off to the side did all the fancy editing to form the make believe group paying tribute to Jackson.
