According to new figures released by the Official Charts Company, Michael’s 2005 greatest hits compilation, The Essential Michael Jackson, is currently the UK’s best-selling album of 2026, having accumulated more than 508,000 chart units during the first nine months of the year.

The impressive achievement puts Michael ahead of Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving, which sits in second place, and Harry Styles’ Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, in third.

The figures combine physical sales, digital downloads and streaming activity, demonstrating the continued popularity of Michael’s music more than two decades after the compilation was originally released.

Michael’s success extends beyond his greatest hits collection. Two of his most celebrated studio albums have also secured places among the UK’s 20 biggest albums of the year so far. Thriller, originally released in 1982, occupies the No. 16 position, while 1987’s Bad sits at No. 20.

The renewed interest in Michael’s catalogue follows the April release of Michael, the highly anticipated biographical film starring his nephew, Jaafar Jackson. The film has helped introduce Michael’s music to a new generation of listeners, contributing to a significant resurgence in streaming activity and album consumption throughout 2026.

With three albums appearing in the Top 20, Michael remains one of the most commercially successful artists in the UK, despite having passed away in June 2009.

Although the final rankings will not be confirmed until the end of December, Michael is currently on course to finish 2026 with the UK’s biggest album of the year.

“Michael Jackson at the Super Bowl,” is a feature-length documentary that will examine the preparations, production and lasting impact of a performance that helped transform the Super Bowl halftime show into one of television’s biggest entertainment events.

The documentary will be directed and produced by Bao Nguyen, who previously the directed Netflix’s critically acclaimed “The Greatest Night in Pop,” which explored the recording of the charity single “We Are the World,” co-written by Michael and Lionel Richie.

The project is a Skydance Sports production, in association with Optimum Productions and NFL Films. Michael Jackson Estate co-executor John Branca is among the producers, while Karen Langford serves as an executive producer.

On January 31, 1993, Michael performed during Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, delivering a performance that would change the expectations of halftime entertainment.

His entrance remains one of the most memorable moments in Super Bowl history. Appearing on stage before an enormous television audience, Michael stood motionless for nearly two minutes as the crowd erupted in cheers, as he did for the opening of his “Dangerous World Tour.”

The performance featured “Jam,” “Billie Jean” and “Black or White,” before concluding with “Heal the World,” with more than 3,000 children participating in the spectacular finale.

Before Michael’s appearance, Super Bowl halftime shows had traditionally featured marching bands, themed productions and musical acts. His performance helped establish a new standard for the event, paving the way for future appearances by artists including Prince, Madonna, Beyoncé and many others.

According to the official announcement, the documentary will explore the story behind the performance, featuring never-before-seen footage of Michael and his team while examining its enduring influence on popular culture.

More than three decades later, Michael’s Super Bowl appearance remains a defining moment in music and television history.

Julien’s Auctions has announced that four historic items will be offered as part of Michael Jackson: The Fashion Legacy, taking place on December 7 in Abu Dhabi. The auction forms part of Julien’s three-day Celebrity & Pop Culture Experience at Rosewood Abu Dhabi.

Leading the auction is Michael’s red and black leather “Thriller” jacket. Designed by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, the jacket is one of two originally created for the 1983 short film and was worn by Michael during the scenes in which he does not appear in zombie makeup. The other jacket was deliberately distressed for the transformation sequences and remains with the Michael Jackson Estate.

No public estimate has been placed on the jacket, which previously made headlines when Julien’s sold it for $1.8 million in 2011.

Also returning to auction is Michael’s rhinestone-covered glove from Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever. Worn during the performance of “Billie Jean” in which Michael introduced the Moonwalk to a television audience, the glove is estimated at $600,000 to $800,000. It last sold through Julien’s in 2009 for $430,000.

Two pairs of Michael’s shoes will also be offered. The black Florsheim loafers worn during “Thriller” rehearsals and filming are estimated at $30,000 to $50,000, while the loafers worn for the Motown 25 performance are expected to fetch between $60,000 and $80,000.

Ahead of the December auction, the collection will embark on an international preview tour, with stops in Los Angeles, Osaka, New York, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. The pieces will also be displayed at Prince Jackson’s Heal Los Angeles Foundation “This Is Thriller” event at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles on October 24.

The auction takes place on December 7 at 8:00pm GST in Abu Dhabi.

Directed by Bob Giraldi, the video casts Michael and Paul as “Mac and Jack,” a pair of traveling confidence men who sell a questionable miracle potion before revealing their talents as entertainers. She oversaw the publication of multiple magazines, and collaborated with fan clubs around the world to produce ‘Support Michael’ in 2004, an international campaign that united fans during Michael’s trial.

Jayne’s dedication to the fans and to Michael was at the core of who she was. Whether she was helping fans secure tickets to the ‘Michael Jackson & Friends’ and ‘30th Anniversary’ concerts, ensuring thousands of fan letters reached Michael, or helping organize fan events that Michael himself attended, including MJ Day in 2001 and his 45th birthday celebration in 2003, her passion never diminished.

Despite her extraordinary contribution, Jayne never sought recognition. She remained humble and intensely private, always insisting that she was simply a fan among fans, motivated by her love for Michael.

When the news of Michael’s passing broke, Jayne’s response revealed everything you needed to know about the person she was.
