I always want more of weddings at Moore and Moore Cafe at the Moores Building in Fremantle! So much fun, so quirky and laid back yet ultra cool. With a live singer in the courtyard, long tables under string lights and flowers in the art gallery, and dancing into the night in one of the galleries – the vibe was all happening. But above all of that Vicky and Dwain’s vibe shined brightest of all.

Rottnest Wedding at The Basin and Aristos Restaurant – Cassie and Adrian

It’s not often I get to bike ride too and from a wedding, but oh to feel the wind woosh through your hair, camera gear thrown in the back basket of the bike and head back to your villa after the most glorious Rottnest wedding makes it feel like it really is not a job at all. Just part of the holiday experience with the added bonus of photographing a wedding while you’re there. Cassie and Adrian’s wedding ceremony was at the infamous Basin lagoon, followed by a reception at Aristos Restaurant – transformed from fish and chip restaurant into a intimate beautiful, intimate setting overlooking the boats bopping gently in the breeze at Thomson’s Bay.

Stunning Exmouth Wedding – Novotel, Tarna and Ross

I can’t quite describe the beauty of a wedding in Exmouth. There is the ruggedness of it, the raw untouched beauty that lies beyond the town in the protected enclaves of the National Park where the sea glimmers such a shade of turquoise and the earth so vibrantly red that you would think it has been Photoshopped. It’s the quietness that I love though, where it is just the wind that whispers through the mountain ranges and the waves that crash onto the Ningaloo Reef. I love photographing weddings here – not just for the scenery but because I feel an instant rapport with couples who choose to wed here, and their connection with Exmouth. Tarna and Ross drove nearly 2000km from Kalgoorlie to Exmouth to get to their wedding – it was worth every kilometre for the magic. Ceremony and reception at Novotel Ningaloo.

Beautiful Serbian Perth Wedding – Ana and Andjleko

I’ve been treated to a feast of culturally diverse weddings so far this year. Following the wedding I shot in Oman last month (of which I can’t show the images, sorry – out of respect to their privacy and cultural reasons) I am excited to share this beautiful Serbian wedding with you. This was my first traditional Serbian wedding that I have shot and I have never seen guests so keen to begin dancing, even before they have left for the ceremony! I didn’t understand a word of the ceremony at the Serbian Orthodox Church of St Sava in Highgate (all in Serbian of course) or the speeches, but in a way this made me even more alert to people’s body language to anticipate what might happen next to get the shots I wanted. There was so much vibrancy, so much passion, and a solidarity amongst the guests, celebrating Ana and Andy’s wedding at the The University Club of Western Australia with such fervour, that there was always a moment to be captured.

South of Perth Yacht Club Wedding – Melanie and John

This was a wedding that epitomised chill. With just forty close friends and family Melanie and John arrived with them all via boat that sailed from the Barrack Street Jetty in the city to the South Of Perth Yacht Club South of Perth Yacht Clubwhere they had their nuptials on the beach. The reception followed in the marquee by the beach with lawn games, icy poles, jugs of pimms and plenty of wine and good food (I particularly loved the casualness of Melanie’s bouquet using her graphic designer skills to create everlasting flowers!) The closeness and intimacy of it was a reflection of Melanie and John and made me feel like I was a guest rather than doing my job.

Fremantle Maritime Museum – Maddie and Adam

In the words of Tim Winton, there is no place I would rather be, than when I was photographing Maddie and Adam’s wedding. From Maddie’s infectious laugh and the magic that happened when she was with Adam, to the bubbles by the beach with guests outside of the Kidogo Art House where they tied the knot and the amazing setting at the Maritime Museum created by Jess from the Butcher the Baker the Stylist Creator. It was hard to select just a few images of their wedding to blog. It was indeed a photographer’s dream wedding.

Lamont’s Bishops House lunch time wedding – Rachael and Todd

Oh I do love a long lingering lunch wedding on a Sunday afternoon. There’s something so decadent and carefree about it, sharing fine food and wine at long tables with your favourite people, especially when it’s outside in the stunning garden setting of the historic Lamont’s Bishops House in the heart of the city. Rachael and Todd defied tradition with their intimate wedding, getting ready together and having photos before walking down the aisle together at their garden ceremony at Lamont’s Bishop House, followed by celebrating with their closest friends and family over lunch. With the velvety voice of Cathrine Summers and her jazz band performing soulful old time favourites, it was a dreamy afternoon that saw the arrival of dusk as the city lights twinkled down on this beautiful and genuine couple at end of an incredible day.

Riverbank Estate Swan Valley Wedding – Bronte and Robin

Tis the season for a non white wedding dress I feel. I love Bronte’s unconventional stunning floral dress. But more importantly I loved the way how it suited her personality. She was never going to wear a traditional white dress, Robin probably knew that much! It matched their very relaxed and non traditional wedding at the Riverbank Estate Winery in the Swan Valley with stunning views of the vineyards as they celebrated with their friends and family.

A wedding is as much about family as it is two people committing to each other. I love photographing weddings where family is everything. It shows the strength of the couple and you can see that their journey together will be strong with foundations built on solid family values. Michelle and Eddie’s wedding at Little Creatures Brewery was one of those weddings that filled the quirky harbour side venue with so much fun and love and emotion it swept you up and made you feel alive, buzzing and part of a big vibrant close knit family.

Brookside Winery Wedding Bickley – Sarah and Jack

I love shooting weddings at Brookside Winery. Not just because it’s a beautiful setting in the Perth hills, at the foot of a valley with vineyards gently rolling down green lush hills to a babbling stream that runs through the property. Not just because it never fails to provide the kind of lighting that photographer’s dream about within its lush green gardens and golden vines. And not just because the food is so beautifully presented and equally mouth watering delightful, that you momentarily forget that it is not the main attraction of the day that needs to be photographed. No the main reason that I love photographing at Brookside Winery is that the couples who choose to have their weddings here are the no-fuss, remember what it’s all about kind of people. They are always fun, relaxed and always always so perfectly matched. Sarah and Jack are all of that. Photographing them together with all their friends and family at their beautifully intimate wedding was truly magical.
