This little guy sure is making it difficult for Mommy to get any work done. Could also be due to my advanced maternal age and chasing around my 3 year old. That's what I get for slacking off the exercise before I got pregnant.

Megan wanted to have her party at home this year. Hmm, how to entertain 5 or 6 little 7 year olds without a huge mess? I found this idea somewhere on the Internet. We made pebble magnets. You need pebbles with at least one side somewhat flat, self adhesive magnets and whatever you want to decorate with. I chose permanent markers in various colors and some flat back crystals. They liked it. It was easy with very little mess and it was also the party favor for the girls to take home. I love functional crafts!

Moving Soon

Lots going on these days. My family and I will be moving soon to Waco, Tx where I grew up. My husband got and awesome job there and we are really looking forward to it. We have much to do getting the house ready to sell.

On the business side I will dearly miss the White Rock Local Market as well as all the other fantastic craft shows and art fairs. I will be at the White Rock Local Market in both April and May. I am looking forward to exploring the arts/crafts and handmade scene in Waco. I'll post dates for the market later.

I want to do some regular posts with some craft projects that I've done with the kids. So if you've run out of ideas...this one was fun and VERY easy. It also kept the kids occupied for quite a while.

This is actually something we did a couple of years ago. I bought the girls each a doll bed for Christmas and then we painted them later. We used non-toxic acrylic paint and varnish. The girls love to paint. I did a few touch-ups and personalized the beds with the girls' first initials on the headboard. I like this project because it's kind of an heirloom thing if you're into that. My Mom still has my doll beds, doll high chair and rocking chair.

Ha! Chocolate beard.

Where have I been? The past month or so has been really busy. We took two loooong road trips to visit family. The kids' homework right before winter break was crazy. I'm ready for a new year and some new goals. I wish everyone a great start to the new year!

Loving this new item. My latest creation is making wood rings out of wooden spools. I carved these out of the spools and then painted with acrylic paints and antique varnish. They are purposely made sort of rough and "carved" looking. You can see these at Little Bean Shop in Dallas!

So I have spent well over a month researching and working on html email. I have an email sign up sheet from shows and thought I would finally work on some emails. Grrr. This has been really difficult. I know just enough about web stuff to do this myself but it didn't quite turn out the way I hoped. I tested for a couple of days and tested again. I did not want to send a bunch of people an annoying email. However, that's exactly what happened. A few got it just fine but some saw a bunch of gibberish. Then I sent a follow up email to say "sorry" and ask politely what they did see in the email. It turns out, that email....was even worse. I'm baffled as to what happened there since it was just a couple of sentences and I did not put anything extra in there. Hopefully I will figure this out and I really hope I didn't annoy my customers so much that they "unsubscribe". I really appreciate each and every one of them.

I just posted images on the gallery page of the jewelry I made when I first started my business. You can see I have always had a thing for color and vintage elements. I still love the lucite beads and continue to use them today. My items have gone through some changes. I always new I wanted the color and some type of vintage look or feel whether it just looked "vintage" or it was modern but made with vintage items. So how did I come to my current line from the early pieces? Well, I took some time off...about 6 or more months and totally reevaluated what I wanted to do. I enjoyed these early items but I still felt like there was something missing. I also wanted to develop a more focused and cohesive product line. I did lots of thinking and remembering. I remembered when I was younger and the creative things I did that I really enjoyed. It was painting and drawing. I'm certainly no master artist but I thought of how I could incorporate that into my jewelry. I decided to make my own pendants and beads and see where that got me. That's really how it started. And here we are. I love making these fun little quirky pieces and now they have a little bit of me in them.

The Vault

The "Vault" being my closet. I have a small collection of vintage items. Jewelry from my Grandmother, clothing from Grandmothers and vintage stores. I've got shoes too. LOVE shoes. Later on that. This carved rose necklace and bracelet set is one of my favorites. I've worn them a few times. Not lately, because I'm so "practical" these days with the kids and all, but perhaps again one day. I do wish I had some information to give about this particular style of jewelry and some sort of history. I'm not much of a historian. I just love these things for whatever reason. I will show more items from the "vault" later. Since I'm not wearing them, I'll just have show-and-tell.
