It was a great morning to hunt the Dansville State Game Area! Last year the weather during this time was brutally cold.

This morning I hunted back at a new bottle neck area, passed on to me as a tip from another veteran hunter I spoke with this Friday. Thanks for the tip.

The area is full of tracks showing deer moving in many directions once they funnel through the narrow passage, that is naturally setup by the geography of the land.

I will continue to wait my time with black power, in hope of crossing paths with a buck.

After black powder season ends, I will switch back to bow hunting and I will have the option of taking any deer.

12/8/11 Afternoon Bow Hunt

This afternoon I'm bow hunting a great bottleneck on the back side of one of my bigger fields. Walking out I found thousands of deer tracks where the deer have taken out everything I planted. This is my second time in this stand this year, so it could be good. It's been cold and windy most of the day and the only entertainment so far has been the sound of my neighbours sighting in there black powder guns.

If you have ever been out in the woods before light ...it is quiet. It gets light and at some point often an hour or more later...everything suddenly wakes up and the forest is alive. Today that was 8:45am. Squirrel, birds and over 15 Turkey appeared. 5 very nice Toms

Hunting the Bunker Hill Area today as we start Black Powder Season Off.

This year I am shooting a .50 cal CVA Optima with a Simmons 3 - 9 x 40 mm scope that will deliver the Power Belt 245 gr. Hollow Point Bullet.

Second Bow Season Begins

It looks like this buck had a close call and a shot just over the back in Rifle Season.

First morning of second bow season in Clare county. Got our first snow last night just in time for late bow season. Saw lots of deer tracks on my way to the woods this morning. I'll check my trail cameras after the morning hunt to see how the deer moved last night.

This is the first Doe picture at this field since 11/13/11.

Double Buck - Haslet MI

On November 19th at about 5 pm, Kyle and his stepson Andrew were hunting near Haslett, MI. They were sitting side by side in the same elevated box blind when Andrew shot his FIRST BUCK a nice 6 point about 20 minutes later Kyle took his buck using the same Remington 870 with a rifled barrel and Lightfield slugs. A great first buck memory!

Kyle let me know that the following weekend his dad and another friend were hunting in the same blind and took 2 more bucks... It sounds like Kyle's family has a great hunting spot!

Dennis Resseguie - 8 pt

Dennis Resseguie with a nice 8 Point taken in Clare County East of Harrison. This buck came out of a cedar swamp at just after 5 pm on this rainy day. The shot was just under 100 yards with a Ruger No. 1 45-70 govt delivering a 300 grain bullet. This is one of Den's favorite weapons for hunting in the swamp and brush areas because of the bullet speed and ability to punch through brush if needed.
