The drawing was from registrations received at the Trenton Mid-Summer Festival, Wyandotte Art Fair, Parade & Fireworks, The Downriver Cruise and Novi Women’s International Expo. On September 10, Mr. Handyman participated in its first ever National Day of Service, contributing over 800 hours of charitable service to worthy individuals and organizations across the United States and Canada. Locally, Mr. Handyman of Southeastern Wayne County, located downtown Trenton, is also participating in this initiative by helping The Information Center, a private, non-profit organization located in Taylor that assists individuals in need. Mr. Handyman of SEWC is donating a full day of service to help a client in Trenton with several repairs on their home by sealing a leaking gutter, stopping the toilet from “running”, sealing the bathtub drain, repairing leaky bathtub faucets and applying a coat of non-skid adhesive to the outside wheelchair ramp. In addition to fixing these nagging repairs, the client should see a reduction in their water bill as well!

Mr. Handyman provides residential/commercial building maintenance and insurance repairs. They are the nation’s #1 professional handyman service with over 300 locations nationwide, Canada and China. Mr. Handyman of Southeastern Wayne County serves the Downriver community and surrounding areas and is owned by Mark Slagle, a lifelong downriver resident. His office was recognized as the #1 franchise location in North America in 2004. You can reach Mark at 888-671-5888 or at mslagle@mrhandyman.com.

Riverview Michigan, August 6, 2009 –VIP Salon and Spa located at 15580 King Road has been featured once again in National Beauty Publication Allure Magazine. This time for being “A Cut Above” other salons visited in Michigan and are on the list among five other salons chosen in the country!

Salons were visited from Arlington Virginia to Los Angeles, California by Allure Magazine and only one in Michigan chosen. VIP SALON was recognized as the best for “A Cut Above” other stylists based on how they performed when a secret shopper booked services. Allure magazine sent out undercover reporters throughout the United States to find the best salon cuts. They came back with eleven salons that were recognized for excellence in the entire country.

Stylist Karyn Sauve was chosen as one of those eleven because of the reporters’ haircut and style she received from Sauve who has been with VIP for seven years. “This is such an honor for Karyn and our Salon. We are not surprised that Karyn received this recognition because of her dedication and expertise to our industry. She is a true professional who has studied at facilities from California to Florida to hone her special techniques.” says salon owner Renee’ Borowy.

This is actually the second year in a row VIP has been recognized in Allure Magazine. Last year Ngoc Ho, a nine year VIP nail veteran was visited by Allure and awarded the distinction of “The best for obsessively precise polishing”. Ms. Borowy also commented that “Nqoc has a large clientele that comes from miles away for the very latest nail treatments. Both Karyn & Ngoc as well as all of our staff; which consists over 55+ employees, are in the business of making people happy, but it’s also wonderful to be recognized for our talent too!” In addition to this latest recognition for service, VIP has received Salon of the Year for Michigan in 1997 and 1998 and many other recognitions for excellence in their field of work. VIP SALON & SPA is constantly on the “cutting” edge of new hair design, nail techniques and spa treatments. Take advantage of the Best of Best in your own neighborhood!

Michigan’s beleaguered economy forces local tattoo studios to offer discount services. John Motyka owner of Discount Tattoos and Piercing has noticed an increase in business from budget conscious consumers. Whereas tattoos have sold for up to $1,000 a person can expect up to a 50% discount on elaborate custom artwork at Discount Tattoos and Piercings. Because of these recession offerings, the operation has seen increased traffic and is even expanding to several new locations. A grand opening will be held soon at the Southfield location and they will be opened at 14 and Mound in Warren by the end of July.

It is definitely a buyers market in terms of investing in body modification. Discount Tattoos located in Southfield and Centerline is charging less money for more work. Inevitably that is what works to keep people happy and returning.

Owner John Motyka notes “Choose your practitioner wisely. Do your due diligence and do not make any hasty decisions. Getting a tattoo has been known to be impulsive in nature. Slow down and take the time to build your project with someone you trust.” Tattoo Expert Motyka is a 17 year local veteran. He has promoted three tattoo conventions at Cobo Hall in years past and owned more than a dozen tattoo studios in the Metro Detroit area. John has given taped interviews for congress addressing tattooing.
He is a member of the National Tattoo association and a member of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists as well as a certified Laser Specialists with certification in removing tattoos.

A 2006 study done by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found that 24% of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed, and that 36% of Americans age 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo. Even in this economy, the tattooing and piercing industry is still growing with repeat clients and referrals.

There are not enough qualified tattooists to keep up with the continued growing demand for tattoos being done. Discount Tattoo and Piercings employs only the best of the industry professionals who also just happen to be the best value around. Now a person can have the best of both worlds from a tattoo studio: high level artistry and reasonable prices.

Southgate, MI, June 8 2009 – An energy savings project was just completed June 6 for the City of Southgate. The Southgate Library will now be powered by the sun. Eventually the entire community of City buildings off Dix/Toledo road could be run on solar energy since they all share the same electrical grid. The unique aspect of this project versus other solar panel work is two fold. Residents and guest can now actually have a full view of the panels from almost any Southgate service building in the civic circle area. The panels now rest on the fascia on the side of the building, where all panels are normally placed on the roof. Residents and solar enthusiasts can also now view the production of power results online.

This local solar project was headed up by Robert Kulick of Kulick Enterprises and Cresit Energy who specializes in the installation and distribution of Solar Energy. His office is located in Wyandotte. His team of specialists also included Rob Molnar of Molnar Roofing, who installed the roof stanchions and the electrical hookup was completed by Douglas Electric’s engineer Mark Skehan. Bob Lemay completed the welding services for the building fascia. Web integration was also installed and configured by Tom Lawrence of Lawrence Technologies in Taylor. Tom installed all the sensors and cabling needed for a live feed that is now available on http://www.cresitenergy.com/. The website provides in real time production power generated and all kilowatt hours and tracking information. Wyandotte Schools are currently live tracking power production and the Southgate project will be updated and in real time within the next few weeks.

For information about this project or Lawrence Technologies visit the web site at http://lawrencesystems.com/.

Company inspires to use ripple-effect thinking as tool to Michigan’s unemployed

Rochester Hills, MI. Did you know the best jobs found are not advertised? In Michigan, layoffs in auto assembly and parts manufacturing have hit both nonmetro and metro areas. In metro areas, Michigan had the highest unemployment rate at 12.5 percent. As a result, MichiganMall.com is determined to be of assistance to recruiters, headhunters, staffing and executive search firms and “make more Michigan job placements materialize” with a “ripple effect” approach.

With the Michigan’s rising tide of unemployment, MichiganMall.com is putting their resources on the table and offering a Talent Bank as a means of support for Michigan’s unemployed. Whether you are looking for a job or looking for employees, MichiganMall.com’s Talent Bank is the new place to be. Not a resume service or job finder, simply a way of augmenting other search efforts. People can list their qualifications, expertise & make this a great tool describing THEIR JOB SKILLS and become a part of Making Michigan Matter.

The goal for the “ripple effect” is to use MichiganMall.com as a resource when job searching by listing their job skills and titles on the website, utilizing the signals for a prospective employer to expand their company by checking out the Michigan businesses represented on the Michigan based online search directory. The ripple effect will work because small firms are less constrained by traditions common to major companies. In most cases, they’re making their own new rules every day. Some of the new breed of presidents answer their own phones, work in shirtsleeves, and are on the shop floor daily. Personnel departments in these firms are less likely to be screening out, but instead are probably looking at every single prospect with an open mind. In the case of many growth companies, the very reason for their growth may be their willingness to gamble on people who come into their industry without experience and without all the answers.

Please share this story by checking out www.michiganmall.com, clicking on Talent Bank and continue to Make Michigan Matter.
