His Father took this photo and then designed this shirt. How better to use your art for good. The t-shirts are selling for $20 and it goes to help pay for Brooks hospital bills. Please contact me if you are interested.</p> </div> <div class="mceTemp">Jean Parker <a href="mailto:parker3jep@aol.com">parker3jep@aol.com</a></div> </article> <article> <h1>Summertime, Summertime, Sweet, Sweet Summertime</h1> <p>Jean Parker — Fri, 25 May 2012 13:26:44 +0000</p> <p>When I started teachng the girls on Thursday – some came in saying, “I just want to learn glass.” “I want to learn one stroke and only do acrylic” There would NEVER have been a way that if I had started with their own designs or watercolor detailed lessons that they would have stayed, but thru the years and tears, and alot of willingness to learn they have come to shine. Yesterday, one framed a gallery quality Batik, one worked on a Karlyn Holman design, and one believe it or not worked on a broken bone shirt, one doing a still life of flowers, they are all expanding and running the good race. Recently Calysta did an original little design I just had to share with you being the start of Summer. Every Summer we spend a week at our Grandparents farm, picking cotton a nickel for a big sack, riding the tractor, feeding the chickens and chasing the cows when they got out. The GAINT lightbulb in the living room over the coal stove was impossible for us to reach, but we didn’t want to anyway because the wasps were up there too. The summers meant red iron water out of a dipper and using the out house with the Sears catelog. The quick lab report could not tell if cancer so they will know in about three days. They will probably do raditation or chemo or both. During the surgery they tested his feeling and motion, and as best as they could tell, he did not lose any more, but they can’t change what he has already lost.The long recovery now starts for him and his family.</p> <p>Girls, sometimes there are moments that you NEVER forget in your life, I have to share that seeing that little boy open that art bin and saying, “Oh, Man” about 15 times will alway be in my heart, and the appreciation to you for making that happen. All he kept says was “Oh, Man, Oh, Man” I think his parents were blown away from the love and giving of Plaza Art Store, Thursday Thunder Girls, and MTDA. Thank you, so much and please keep Brooks in your prayers on Tuesday – the surgery is suppose to take 8 hours. I will let you know how he is doing. He thought he could encourage him with art. Just today I found out the little boy Brooks Russell needs our prayers and any extra art supplies, because he has a tumor in his spine. Only about 100 people have this condition and will be undergoing a surgery at Vanderbit this next Thursday 5/17. Please help me send good thoughts to this child, to this Mother of three children, 4 and under, to this Dad. Needless to say all of us know how horrible the hospital bills are and the stress of recovery. So if you have any extra little something of art supplies that we could fill a treasure chest to give to this little boy, you don’t have to go buy anything, but we all have an extra brush, or pad, or paint. As Artist we know how our art heals us, let’s help heel this family. Bring anything you would like to give this family to the MAY Meeting.
