One that I came across and really liked the layout on was the Simple Site from PremiumThemes.net. I decided to take the plunge and make the purchase and with my limited technical expertise (ahem) I pushed ahead.

Firstly, the theme was easy to install and upload to Wordpress and it also came with a theme guide, which proved very helpful. The website also has a forum where you can ask other questions if they are not covered by the guide. The theme itself has a visual editor where you can change certain information at the pointand click of a mouse. It also come pre-packed with a Home Page, Blog Page and Gallery if that is your thing. For example you can feature certain products here and link directly to where they can be purchased.

The only thing I had problems with was getting the thumbnails to appear on the top of the homepage. The guide does explain how to do this, but as I say I am technically challenged. However, I posted in the forum and very quickly I was in touch with the owner of the site who put it right for me – a definite plus point was how helpful he was.

Another big plus point that I discovered after I had bought the theme was that on the 1st Oct 2009 Premium Themes switched over to GPL (General Public License) so that the theme I bought, which I thought could only be used on one site, can now be used on as many sites as I wish, hurrah! In consequence an overhaul to this very website is coming soon.

If you want a professional, easy to use theme, with helpful customer support if you need it, I would say that you can’t go very far wrong with ==>> Premium Themes.

Update: 1st November. This site has now been updated using the Premium Theme, but the blog part only – I love the clean look. Any thoughts let me know!

The problem though can be in the time that it takes to submit the article to all the article directories and to also provide different variations so that the search engines are more likely to pick up your content.

I was interested then in hearing about SubmitYourArticle.com which seems to offer a huge boost to your article marketing efforts. Not only does it feature your article in its own article directory, which only members can feature in, but then it also distributes your article to literally thousands of places. In addition the new Article Leverage moves things on to the next level.

I have joined and over the new few weeks I am going to bring you the results I am achieving. Of the 8 articles I have submitted since the 3rd October 2009 and which now appear in the SubmitYourAticle directory they have been viewed 892 times and re-published through Easy Publish 232 times.  This does not include all the places that my articles get submitted to, such as other article directories, ezine publishers etc. This is just one source and so far I am very pleased with the results. This was my story until I started to wake up to the reality of what it means to make money online. Possibly I was lucky because I came across a couple of people who weren’t all about hype, but who pointed me in the right direction. The funny thing is that what I learnt from these people is that making money is actually quite easy. The first step is to build an online presence from where you can promote either your own products, or more likely when you are first starting out, affiliate links.

2. Drive Traffic To Your Site

There are many, many ways of driving traffic to your site, including Squidoo, Hubpages, Social Sites, Bookmarking, Forums, Bum marketing, the list really does go on and on and more importantly all of these methods are free.  So if you are starting out with very little budget, as most of us did, then you are in a no-risk situation.

3. Building Your List

The third step is to capture the traffic that arrives at your site and to start building a list. One of the phrases that you will hear over and over online is that the ‘money is in the list’ and in this case the phrase really is true.

However, it is all very well saying that you must build a list, but how do you go about that and once you have the list what the heck do you do with it to make it profitable.

All of this isn’t difficult but what you probably need is someone to just explain the steps to you in a straightforward manner.

So there you have it, three simple steps to start making money online.

1. Create a Blog
2. Drive Traffic
3. Build a List

When you are starting out, disregard all the million other things and focus on these three steps. Once you start making some cash I promise you will be bitten and then you can start to expand your skillset. But as with anything in life we need to start seeing result before we get totally hooked.

After all you aren’t doing this purely for the fun of it, although believe me it is more fun than working a 9 to 5, but to see results and to start paying off some debts or to make things better for you and your family.
