Investigation Form: Carolands Mansion

1. Is there an unexplainable/horrific history associated with the site?

- A teenage girl was murdered in the mansion in 1985. Her friend, also attacked, survived the incident. Also, it's said that when the house was uninhabited for the decades following the murders a light inside the mansion would stay on all night long.

2. Who/What were we investigating?

- Carolands Mansion, Burlingame.

3. What were we trying to prove/disprove?

- If there was any strange energy associated with the site.

4. When did we commence/finish our investigation?

- 9:00 PM-10:00 PM; February 25, 2011

5.. Where did we start/finish investigate?

- We parked down the block and walked up to the mansions front Gate. Then we returned to our car and conducted our verbal analysis in another part of the neighborhood.

6. Why were we investigating?

- The Mansion has a unique combined history of murder and paranormal activity.

7. Was there any kind of activity?

- No. We only were infront of the mansion for a couple of minutes, but seemed to be inhabited by a family, as a majority of the lights inside were still on at 10:00 PM.

8. Did we collect evidence?

- No.

9. Follow up investigation justified?

- If we can get permission to get inside the Mansion, yes.

Debriefing: Ghost-Busted!! Carolands Mansion Is Scared Of You

Carolands Château is a mansion in Hillsborough, Ca. We thought there might be some creepy energy around the neighborhood left over from a murder in the 1980's. A little back story:

"During its years of abandonment in the 1970s and 1980s, the grounds and structure were visited by many local high school students who regarded it as "their" haunted house. On February 2, 1985, Laurie McKenna and Jeanine Grinsell, two students at a local high school, went to tour the vacant Chateau and were kidnapped, sexually assaulted, beaten, and tortured by David Raley, a security guard for the property. Raley bound both women and dumped their bodies in a ravine near his house. While Laurie McKenna survived the ordeal, Jeanine Grinsell later succumbed to her wounds in a nearby hospital. David Raley was sentenced to death in 1988 and is presently awaiting execution." - Ask.Com

While we were not able to conduct a proper investigation, we definably were able to form an opinion. Likewise, the Hillsborough police we also able to form an opinion about us. There is unfinished research here, and we will follow up with any information we obtain, but until then enjoy our initial field report, recorded in the Hillsborough Hills immediately after our brief survey of the property.

Yes, the police were involved.

Investigation Form:Twin Pines Park Barber Shop

1. Is there an unexplainable history associated with the site?

- Besides being an abandoned Barber Shop in the middle of Twin pines Park, No.

2. Who/What were we investigating?

- A Barber shop used for the patients at the former Twin Pines Asylum that has decomposed to just a couple cement walls.

3. What were we trying to prove/disprove?

- If there is any kind of unusual energy at the site.

4. When did we commence/finish our investigation?

- 10:00 PM-11:30 PM; February 2, 2010

5.. Where did we start/finish our investigation?

- We entered Twin Pines Park through the bridge on the 6th Ave side, then proceeded to walk the legnth of the park until we reached the far playground, where we then u-turned around the playground into the woods, and up a path that leads to the abandoned Barber shop. We followed the same path back to our vehichle after the investigation.

6. Why were we investigating?

- Twin Pines park is dark and quiet at night. We thought we might be able to visit at night, and maybe find something interesting. Also, the grounds the park is built on used to be the recreation area for the Twin Pines Asylum; which was built on top of an Indian Burial Ground that stood until the 1960's.

7. Was there any kind of activity?

- No. The only noise's we heard were either made from us, or the pack of wild Deer that was stalking us.

8. Did we collect evidence?

- Just the picture included in the post.

9. Follow Up investigation justified?

- Maybe. We were neither quiet or focused, and we rushed the investigation.

Is The Ralston Mansion Haunted?

Could there be ghosts right down our street? I was researching local folklore and decided to look into the paranormal history of the Ralston Mansion, and if there was anything we could further investigate.

The mansion was built in 1867, and served many purposes, including being a finishing school for girls, and even a sanitarium for a period of time. With that much history, intertwined with the controversy that surrounded William Ralston's death; he while swimming in the San Francisco bay, and his failing business at the time, there is a high probability that some one passed tragically and left their energy behind.

The article below doesn't present much information, but it does offer our first lead. The story goes that Mr. Ralston has never actually been seen himself, but the bowling alley he had built can still be heard any time during the day, even though it was removed after the building was sold.

“It’s unexplainable,” said Matthew Irvine, an administration employee who heard the noise. “I’m a skeptic myself, but once I heard that loud crash, I didn't know what to think. I have to admit that was creepy.”
