Finding ways to make your dental practice more eco-friendly is a pursuit that is being supported by an increasing number of dental manufacturers. Last week at a dental conference at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, I was introduced to a line of green biodegradable products by Crosstex. Their representative, Ms Gaylene Baker, shared their catalog with me. Crosstex advertises biodegradable fitted latex exam gloves (with powder and powder free) in a variety of sizes from 6.5 – 9. How can you use Green Dentistry and Eco-friendly practices in your dental marketing? Talk to your patients about your new environmentally responsible practices. Here are a few suggestions:

Have a staff meeting and introduce your green initiatives to your staff. Role play ways that the staff can talk about these green intiatives to your patients at chairside
Add a page to your dental website on Green Dentistry
Add a post to your dental blog, dental Facebook page or your Twitter account
Add a paragraph to your e-newsletter
Add information to your message on hold

Make dental marketing fun! Hire a model, friend or family member to be a tooth fairy who visits your practice on a Saturday afternoon. Party City has a low cost Tooth Fairy costume you can purchase, order branded toothbrushes, tooth boxes, and create an gift certificate for the moms and dads who bring their children to meet the tooth fairy. Plan activities for the children, serve refreshments and offer tours of your beautiful practice.

Advertise your Childrens Dental Health month event with internal marketing by creating a postcard to give to patients in the weeks before the event, encouraging your patients to use their care to share cards with friends and family who they invite to the event, send a dental email blast to your patient base, discuss it with staff in your daily huddle and talk it up with your patients. Advertise your event with external marketing as well. Post the event on your dental Facebook page, dental blog & dental website, create signs for your windows, distribute flyers at day care centers, post flyers on nearby bulletin boards, take an ad in the local newspaper and write a press release to share on line and in print. The more marketing you do, the better results you will have.

Facebook’s new design is forcing every user to change their Fan/Like Us page

Facebook is dramatically changing the way it displays pages. On March 30, 2012, Facebook will change your Facebook page display.

Facebook is forcing us to use their new wall/timeline as the default landing page instead of a dental welcome/fan page.
All pages will automatically switch to the new format.
It appears that your current Facebook link from your website to your Dental Facebook Page will stop working because of the universal change that Facebook is making.
Facebook will no longer display Welcome Pages or Fan Pages.
Facebook has added a new management tool called Admin Panel
