My baby is now 4 months…almost 5 months old! Time goes by FAST! She is trying out solid foods now. Mike wants me to say that now that only means that my boobs hurt more, but whatever! Anyhow, she loves and I mean LOVES bananas and apples…she was ok with the rice cereal, but it wasn’t really her favorite. Next foods we are trying are pears, peas and if Daddy will agree to it…peaches. For some reason, Mike is against giving her peaches, just because he doesn’t like them. So strange…I’m not going to deprive her of the fishies if she wants to eat them…even though I would rather die than eat fishies. Issues…

Jillian has also turned from a little lump of baby mush to a rollie pollie baby that doesn’t sit still for a second, unless she is on her way to sleeping. She started rolling over at 2 and a half months from her tummy to her back. At 4 months on the dot she started rolling over from her back to her tummy! While she is doing all this moving around, she is usually squealing with delight, or squealing just to squeal and hear the noise, or squealing for attention. She is a very active little baby and that makes her a lot of fun! It also means that she’s got me pretty busy and active entertaining her and making sure she isn’t getting into anything dangerous…which I am sure is just the beginning.

If I didn’t add enough pictures of her…here she is in her sunglasses! It was rather hot last week and the sun was pretty harsh, so she needed them when she and her babysitter went for a walk…plus, they make her look so baby posh!

FYI…my renewal stuff is all worked out…this blog will continue running, thanks to my friends at www.technstuff.com!

My renewal fees are up in August to maintain my two blogs…both of which I have had zelch time to update in the past few years.

What to do, what to do. If I give it all up, I know about a few months later, I’ll just start blogging like mad on a free site and then I’ll get frustrated with all the RULES (I’ve got an issue with authority)…and end up buying space at a higher price than I am paying now. So, I know I will renew.

Since the domain fees get hiked after July 1st, it seems appropriate to renew those ASAP.

Now the question is whether I want to continue using GoDaddy’s hosting or move. I haven’t been entirely pleased with GoDaddy. The reason being, although I pay for more freedom…that’s all I get, more freedom…there are STILL RULES, where I can’t play with some cool functionality on this site, because I’ll be nosing where GoDaddy won’t let you nose. Plus, customer service makes it damn near impossible to get into your account if you get locked out due to forgotten passwords and forgotten pins (both of which I just can’t keep in my head). I went through this a year ago, where I needed to renew a domain and damn near forgot all my info. After many guesses with customer service…I finally got access to my account…they wouldn’t even use my credit card as verification that I was the owner of my site!

GoDaddy is very cheap, but I get limited freedom and not total freedom. I’ve been looking into moving hosting to another company, but it is over twice what I will pay GoDaddy. GoDaddy is still dirt cheap…and the price of freedom is so high. Such is life, folks! You can’t have it all.

Any suggestions?

I would like to have a lesbian waitress when we go out to eat…then maybe my glass would get refilled. I’m not above batting my eyes for it either!

I’m just saying…at the Red Robin near our house, Mike always gets tons of refills. They always forget about me…the reason being that everyone who works there is either a straight female or a homosexual man. I’m not even kidding…they are always hitting on Mike when we go there. It’s totally hilarious! Mike ends up leaving in nervous laughter from embarassment…I find it completely entertaining. I keep telling him that we are going to have Jillian’s B-day party there next year, just so the guys can coo over a princess cake and belt out the birthday songs like they are Brittney Spears!

When I woke up this morning, this is what I saw out my window…

That is grass covered in ice, I thought it was snow at first. After I took a closer look, I found that the rain froze on the grass last night. Yesterday evening it was around 39 F outside, pouring rain and hailing ice cubes…It was insane! I’ve never seen weather like this in CA. The news is calling it a cold snap. My dogs actually didn’t want to go outside for once and Scout willingly came in without me having to round her up like cattle. Pretty crazy weather…I’m just glad we have a heater!

I’ve got some big news! Its not new news to me, but it is for anyone still reading. The reason I haven’t posted sooner about it, is because I hadn’t broken the news to all my IRL friends and family until Thanksgiving. I’m pregnant! I’m about 7 months pregnant…I know, how did I keep the news for sooo long? Working too much certainly helped, plus the forgetful pregnancy brain contributed as well.

However, the main reason I didn’t break the news earlier is because I really didn’t start to feel comfortable with this pregnancy going to full term until the end of the 6th month. Call me a skeptic, but I just didn’t have high hopes regardless of all the work my doctor, my husband, those that care about me and myself had done to make sure I got this far. But here I am and the baby is healthy, kicking up a storm and I am finally letting myself get excited about getting ready for the baby.

One thing I can’t tell you is the sex of the baby. It seems this kid wants to be a mystery. Months 5 and 6, the baby was turned the wrong way and the doctor couldn’t get any visual. By 6.5 months we got a visual, but it was too blurry to really tell…the doctor said, “It appears to be a girl, but I can’t be sure and I have been wrong before.” So, we are hoping that on Monday’s appointment, we will have a confirmation on the sex of the baby.

I’ll tell you though, not knowing the sex of the baby hasn’t kept me from knitting for the baby. I’ve knitted two outfits so far. Then I took a break for some holiday knitting…once that is done I will resume and hopefully by then I’ll know whether I’m carrying a girl or a boy. And if not, I’ll just have to go neutral again.

So, thats what has been going on!

That’s right! Its done! I did a big Wordpress upgrade, some back-end housekeeping and I built a new theme for this blog! You may be scratching your head as to why it isn’t up yet. All will be revealed soon enough. I’ve got to take care of a few more minor things…then I will load it up. The good news is that the bulk of the work is over with. I’ll be back again soon!

So…my blog redesign…didn’t happen this past weekend. I intended to, but Mikey started school this past Saturday and instead of counting on those 4 hours to work on my blog…I figured I’d not work on it just incase the first day of class was only an hour long. You never can tell with college courses if the first day is going to take up all the class time or only the first hour. Blog redesign will have to occur next weekend while he is in class and I have some quiet time to be creative. I’ve already got half of it done, I just need to figure out how I want the background.

Instead I will have to post about all of what has been going on in the past couple of months sometime this week without the blog facelift. I can give you all one piece of information. I got to keep my job this month. My company had a RIF this past week…and if you search hard enough, I’m sure you can figure out which one it was. Luckily, I was not affected by it, but I had a few friends who were affected. It was very sad to see them go and for some people it just seemed senseless as to why they were let go. Even though I am safe for the month of September I’m not out of the water just yet.

In the case that you haven’t ever been part of a RIF where there are mass layoffs, this is how they work in CA. If the RIF affects more than 50 people or a certain percentage of your workforce, whichever comes first, the company has to issue a WARN letter 60 days before the pending termination date. When that date comes, they do the RIF. The company then has 60 more days following the RIF to lay more people off. So, basically, they can keep laying off people every month until they have a RIF lapse of 90 days. Once 90 days elapses without any layoffs, the company has to issue another WARN letter before they can start laying people off again. I know we are facing at least one more RIF before they are done…so wish me luck.

I love my job and the company I work for. I really want to stay and continue my career there since my career has really taken off there. But if I do end up getting RIF’d, at least I will have better confidence in finding a new job and being successful at it. My current experience has shown me that I do have Engineering talent and more potential than I thought. It has also taught me that I can be competitive and successful in my career even though I am in a male dominated field.

My how I’ve grown up…just a little though, but enough. The hubby and I got a really cruel email today. In the past, I would have posted it on my blog for the world to see and I would have flamed this person to all hell, I wouldn’t care if they were family. I probably would have posted their email address as well, so that they could receive the rapture of public scorn. I also would have flamed them via email, probably saying unspeakable things, cause we all know how well I can really write a hate letter…especially when there is just so much I could write, I could fill a novel with it.

However, I am not going to do any of that. Do you know why?

Because this person is not really worth my time. Its not worth my time or energy to flame them on my blog, via email, or any other way. As a matter of fact, spending one more second putting energy into thinking about this person would be one more second too many.

Instead, I’m going to take this time to focus on the positive and say cheers to Maturity finally kicking in!
