7 day old handsome boy!!!

I was blessed on Tuesday with the opportunity to share this little boy's 7th day of life. He was sleeping when I arrived but once I pulled out the camera he opened his eyes and didn't want to miss a moment! He was a fabulous little guy and we created some stunning images for his family. Thank you Jenny for letting me share these moments with your family! Big brother was as handsome as ever. I always melt when I see his green eyes!

I love playing with photoshop..... You know it is kind of goofy, but when I'm not working with clients I am working on my skills or scouting locations. I am really looking forward to a scouting trip with a fellow photographer. The holiday rush is here! Check back for images of some amazing families. For now I have been playing with photoshop and taking a little break. The wedding photos have been posted in the gallery and now I can breathe a bit... Emily - your day was so special!!! This weekend I had the pleasure of capturing Emily & Erik's Wedding! The weather was hit or miss the whole week before their special day and we were all praying the rain would stay away! The clouds parted, the temperature dropped, and we had a beautiful day for an outdoor ceremony. They had an intimate ceremony at the Lovett Inn and a large reception at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Houston. Thank you for letting me share this special day with your family! My family and I moved here last year, so I am still discovering all the amazing spots that Houston has to offer! I have started making a list of my favorite spots to shoot and I will post some photos from those locations as this blog grows. So, my son got a haircut. This may sound like a simple thing to some, but he is NOT good with haircuts! We were in Austin visiting my sister, and since he LOVES her, we thought we would try for the haircut.... I was not optimistic, but I thought we should find a "cool" place and then, maybe with my sister there watching; he would let them work their magic. Well, I can say that he didn't love the experience, but he let the lady cut his hair, and he was smiling at the end. (we all were) From now on we will be heading out to Austin for his haircuts!!! (it's a good excuse to visit my sister)

I am posting some pics from that experience, because I am going to start offering "event" photography. If you have something BIG coming up that you would like to document I will be available to capture it for you. That way you can always look back on their 1st birthday, parent’s 60th wedding anniversary or in my case, the dreaded haircut, and remember that experience. I know a haircut doesn't seem like it is a big deal, but for us it was and I am lucky to be able to have those moments captured.... I want to share them with him when he is older and has kids of his own! Okay, now I sound like a mushy mom..... On to the pics!!!

Okay, this may sound a little crazy..... I am in love with a new location! I just stumbled upon this location today. Maybe stumbled isn't the right word.... My awesome friend Amy told me about this location and I couldn't be more thrilled! SO, today when I got off the phone and picked my son up from school, we checked the place out. He wasn't up for the shoot, but that is what happens when Mommy is a photographer! So, here are some shots of my unhappy son in a location that I now love.

I am realizing that the blog is being neglected. I have been so busy with getting the new website ready that I haven't been posting anything! It has been a great month filled with a variety of work. I have been busy with everything from corporate headshots to engagement photos. I am going to try to be better about the blog.

Houston is getting H O T!!!! I would love to know when we will see rain here in the desert that is Spring, TX..... Well, I have been taking a break from the heat, but Summer Mini-Sessions are on their way! I will post some pics here later. For now I will leave you with some pics I took of my own kids recently. If you follow me on facebook you have probably already seen these! All I can tell you is that this photo really captures them at these ages!

This family is amazing and our photo shoot took place on their ranch. They were all so laid back and the shoot was awesome! It is hard to believe that April is over already and it is time to welcome May 2009.

When did Spring arrive?

I don't know how many of you know this about me... but I have been working on my teaching certification. I have been student teaching and I haven't had much time for anything else! I will complete my teaching certification and be certified to teach Early Childhood-4th grade as well as All level Art! I have wanted to get my teaching certification for years and at the end of April I will be able to say I am a certified teacher!

Artistically I have been branching out.... I shot a fashion show for a designer based here in Houston. (Susan B.) Her line is called Tropi Couture and this was their Spring Fashion Show. I had a lot of fun and the designer, stylist, and models were all wonderful to work with! I am still passionate about working with children and I managed to squeeze in a shoot for a beautiful girl who was turning 13! What a great age!!!! At the end of this month I have a family portrait lined up and I am really looking forward to that shoot because it is out of town which will be fun! My kids and husband will be along for the adventure.

Once I have completed my student teaching and May has arrived I will have a little time to breath and take more clients. I hope 2009 is treating everyone well!!!

The New Year has Arrived!

Happy New Year to Everyone!

With the new year comes new adventures and I am excited to embrace all that this year has to offer. I will be working with returning clients as well as meeting many new sparkling personalities and I can hardly wait! I had a great photo shoot yesterday with a new client and I'm sure we will be seeing more of each other in the future. I also plan to work on some of my more artistic endeavors and I find that really rejuvinating!!! I hope you all have a wonderful new year and I look forward to posting more in the coming months! The Christmas Rush is OVER!

All the Christmas shoots have been done and booking has started for the new year. I have had a great time transitioning to Houston. My Client list is growing and I'm interested in looking into the art scene a little further. I may start spending some time on some personal work in the new year in preparation for an art show. I have had several people ask why I don't do any gallery shows. I think that is an area that I will explore in the new year. 2008 was all about transitions for our family and to some extent 2009 will still be that way but I will be working on settling into this area and making a name for myself here. I'm excited about the future! SO, here is a toast to ringing in the new year!

Swimming in Boxes...

I can't wait to get things unpacked here in Spring, TX. The move has been a lot of work but I really believe that this will be a wonderful adventure for all of us. I am looking forward to setting things up and pulling out my cameras!!! Of course getting settled will take a little while and I am up for the challege. We are already making a great deal of progress with all the boxes and getting the house in order. I have so many friends in this area that in a way it is like coming home for me. We will miss our friends in Dallas but I have let everyone know we have plenty of room for guests and there is no need to wait for a formal invitation to visit! We love our new home and it is wonderful to be near family! I will update with photos soon!

Just after we moved in we celebrated Fia's 1st birthday. The house was a wreck and it was HOT so we spent the day outside in the sprinkler!
