Coin Folding Trick

After a longer pause, I'm back with yet another money trick. Money is something we all need, it's just that we never have enough of it. Thats why money tricks are always awesome, just watch out so you don't get into trouble. This one uses coins and not paper money but the effect is the same, your friend loses a buck, and you get a buck. All you need is a piece of paper, one coin (just make sure that the paper is big enough so you can fold it correctly over the coin) and a magic wand or something similar which you will keep in your pocket. You just need to learn how to fold the paper so you can use it right during the trick. The video will show you how to do it as well how to improve your performance.

Money Making Trick

After several rounds of drinks at your local pub with your friends, you could find yourself out of money. But in those cases you could easily impress your good (and a bit drunk :) ) friends by turning normal paper into money. This video details how you do it exactly as you need 5 or more pieces of paper that are cut so they have the same dimensions as the money you are going to turn it in. Also, an idea that I find funny is that, after you pay the tab, your friends might ask you to make more money. But this time use their money (say something like you are gonna multiply it) and do the reverse version, "destroying" their money into several pieces of paper...Just remember to give it back or you could have trouble with you good (and drunk) friends.

Magic Wand Trick

Now, as a skilled magician, you will probably need a magical wand. But waving it around isn't enough to make it magical, so you will need to learn how to perform some tricks with it. This And That Card Trick

It's time for another magic trick, and it's a card one. The trick looks simple, but the narrator may try to confuse you with his speech about This'n'that. Ignore him and try to crack the puzzle how did he manage to fool you, because I'm sure he did. He must have held the three different cards from the beginning, but he somehow managed to show us only two of them by clever card manipulation. I advise that after watching it for the first time, you watch it again but put the sound on mute so you can concentrate on only his hand movement.

After those normal and "serious" tricks and illusionist, I've decided to show you how many of those trick were done. As it may be violating their rights it may not be long before I have to remove this one, so hurry up and watch it for yourself. Because many of the ideas displayed here were so revolutionary, but still too complex for a regular person, the Illusionist (real name Chris Van Den Durpel) was thought to be a real magician and was overwhelmed with calls and E-mails. David Copperfield And The Staute Of Liberty

Okey, I'm sick again so todays trick is just a video, but not from Criss Angel or some other "illusionist". It's from, non other, then David Copperfield. This time he doesn't mess with the small, childish tricks, but goes for the big league. He makes the whole Statue of Liberty disappear! Now there are a lot of speculations about how this trick was performed, from fake statue to a rotating platform where the audience was sited. I tried looking for a clue for any possibility but was without luck. Let me hear if you find something.

Simple Yet Effective Rope Trick

Well I will try to fulfill your first request with this trick. It is very simple as you only need a rope long enough and two hands. Just tie the ends together so they hold during the trick (so you don't embarrass yourself) and let the magic flow. The video below is very helpful in the demonstration as it shows how it's exactly done and it gives you some ideas to make your performance more original.

Cards And Coins

Thanks to Mourits de Beer (nice name) for sending this simple yet effective trick with both cards and coins. The trick explanation is rather long but very simple to master. I, by the way, have just returned from my vacation so I am back on my lovely ADSL connection speed (unlike my brother who is still on modem-speed...hehehe) so expect better tricks with video attachments anytime soon. Anyway back at the trick. You will need a deck of cards, a card container, two coins (identical) and you must be sited behind a table covered so it is impossible to see through...

Overview:
The magician pulls out a deck of cards and asks a member of the audience to split the deck in half randomly and separate the two halves. After the are separated the magician takes the top deck and asks a member of the audience to lift the card on the top of the bottom half, memorize the card and place it back on top of the bottom half, without the magician knowing what was the card. Now the magician places the top half on top of the bottom half again and places it in the card container, so that the magician cannot temper with them or anything.

Now the magician pulls a small coin out from under the table and shows it the audience, and then hands it out to the audience for them to inspect it. The audience hands it back and the magician holds the coin in his left hand, showing it to the audience.

Then he puts it in his right hand with his fingers blocking the view of the coin. He then hits his tips of his fingers on the card pack and shows the audience that the coin has disappeared. Now he opens the pack, removes the cards and right in the middle: there is a coin, the same coin that has just disappeared. And guess on which card it is lying on? Yes, the exact same card chosen by the audience earlier.

How to do it:
When sitting at the table, place the 2 identical coins on your leg, so that the audience cannot see them. After the audience splits the deck you distract them by explaining that they have to
lift the top of the bottom-halve deck and memorize the card, without letting you to see the card. Be sure that the audience is seated.
Now, while the audience lifts the card, you take the top half of the deck and place it under the table, casually. Then you take a coin from your leg and place it below the bottom card of the top deck, holding it with your middle finger, in the centre of the bottom card. Now after the audience is done, you rejoin the two halves of the deck, making sure that as you join them the audience is not focusing on the deck of cards, as you explain it to them on and on about what your going to do (don't mention the coin) so that they are looking at you and not the deck. As the coin is in the middle and you place the deck of cards back into it's container close it so you can't temper with it. Now you take the second coin from under the table and give it to the audience so they can inspect it.

Once it's handed back, you perform a 'french drop' (a french drop is where you show them the coin in the left hand, and then you make it is if you take it with the other hand while it is still in your left hand), making sure that your talking a lot so as you do this they are focussing on you and not what you are doing.

Afterwards place the coin back on your leg while they aren't looking. Now you take the 'imaginary coin' in your right hand and hit it into the deck, and show them that the coin has disappeared. Now you open the pack of cards, and reveal to them that the coin is in the middle
of the deck and it is lying on the card previously selected by the audience

This trick is really easy to master but I advise that you to practice it once or twice in front of a mirror to perfect it. I hope you enjoy it!

Criss Angels Walk Over Water

After a five day break, I bring to you a new magic trick performed by the famous Criss Angel. This time he walks over a pool filled with people (and water of course). Guess how it is done. Note as he walks over it, how people swim in front of him and dive under him eliminating the possibility of a glass "bridge". His tricks are always stunning and performed during the day with normal people as his audience. Could it be possible that Criss has divine powers or is he just another illusionist who knows his job?

The Traveling Knot

Rope tricks are one of the most common used magic tricks. So this trick could also be the most frequently used trick and one of the simpler ones. All you need is a rope long enough and a wire hanger. You will demonstrate your magical skill by moving the wire hanger, which is hanged on the central knot , to the right/left one, which ever suits you better. You need to prepare your rope by tying 3 regular knots on the rope, one near the other, and also one special '' slip'' knot (which isn't a normal knot as it vanishes when the two ends are pulled) at the far left or right end. Now when you pick up the rope, grab it at the far right knot so it doesn't show, and at the left end of the rope. The wire hanger should already be hanged at the central knot. Now quickly pull the whole rope and at the same time release the hidden rope. Now the slip knot will disappear, and the hidden one will appear, magically moving the wire hanger from the center to the left.

This picture demonstrates the four knots, where the A knot is the slip knot and the D knot is the one hidden in your palm.

How to make a slip knot:

Start by placing an 18" string or rope in a straight line on a flat surface. Grab the rope at a spot about 4" from one end.

Twist it so that a "circle" is created.

Pull the string through the center of the circle and you are done!

Water Magic

Because of my not so blazing fast dial-up connection, I am unable to post you those neat tricks with a video demonstrating them. However I will post you those simpler tricks, which you can do at any time. This trick is one of them. It is a great refreshment during this hot summer (or maybe rainy for the unlucky ones). All you need is a non transparent cup, a sponge, few ice-cubes and some water. All you have to do is squeeze the sponge at the bottom of the cup (the sponge has to be big enough so it doesn't fall out and so it can absorb enough water) and then put the ice cubes on the sponge. Now you are ready. Pour some water into the cup (not too much, so the sponge can't absorb it), wave your hands around it, mutter a few words and turn the cup upside down. Magic I tell you.

Mind Memory Trick

Short term and long term memory is something we use every day, be it remembering our PIN codes or what grocery's we need to buy. Thats why manipulating your audiences memory will surely freak them out. This is not a psychological trick, but a coin one and good coin manipulation is required. Start your trick by talking about the short term memory and how we remember it only while we need it. Then show the audience three coins: a silver, brass and copper one (the material is not obligatory, but the coins must differ from one other). Then ask someone to pick one coin and concentrate on it. You then put the coins in his palm and you take your wrist watch off your wrist. You move the time 3 hours upfront and ask the ''holder'' to tell you again which coin was his favorite one. When he opens his palm the favorite coin is gone, as it never existed!

As I said, this trick will require good coin manipulation as you will move it around your right hand (if you are a right-hander) with only one arm.

The coins are shown resting on the open hand. The spectator selects one. The thumb moves the coins around, eventually sliding the selected coin so it rests over the first and second fingers.

Now it gets a little tricky. You close your palm and rotate it so it facing down. As you do this you slide the selected coin with your thumb over the second finger and lower as far you can without the thumb losing the coin.

Now the fourth finger curls up, and the tip of the fourth finger presses the edge of the coin against the third finger. The thumb moves up. The coin is now held behind the hand, held on the edge between the third and fourth fingers.

The photograph above shows a back view of the hand with the held out coin. In performing the routine, the hand is not opened yet at this point, rather it remains curled in a fist which holds the coins, the back of the hand is kept towards the spectators so the back palmed coin cannot be seen.

Now you ask someone to open his palm and you slip him the other two coins, but carefully so you don't accidentally slip the third one or show it to the audience/helper. As you slide the coins your hand should block the view so no one suspects that only two coins were dropped.
Once the coins are given, you close his palm and take a step back. Tell the holder to concentrate on the three coins and the selected one particular. You pull the sleeve of your coat with the coin hand reveling the watch. As you unbuckle the watch you let the third coin slip in the sleeve and further in (so it doesn't fall out).

Now you can start saying how short term memory is short lived and you turn the time 3-4 hour upfront. Now you ask the holder what was his favorite coin. As he opens his palm, he discovers that the mentioned coin is missing!

It takes a lot of practice to master this trick, but once you've done it, you will have a simple trick which you can do at any time and place and it will leave your audience.

Money Earning Trick

OK, I was kinda sick for the last 2-3 days, and that's why I haven't posted any new tricks (and why my previous trick wasn't so good). I will try to find you the newest and coolest tricks around, and not only the card ones. That's why with this trick, you will not only do magic, but can also earn you some money (depending on your victim's sense of humor and intelligence). All you need is some money, a friend with more money and a container/box (an empty box of matches will do just fine). Put 20$ (or any other amount, but don't push it) in a box, then ask your friend to give you the same amount of money which you will put in the box too. Now start telling him how there are $40 in the box and what can a man do with them...in other words: keep yapping . Now ask him if he would like to buy the box for a bargain of $30. If you played your part good, he won't suspect a thing and he will buy it. Now thank him, pack the money and get going...you just made $10. Just don't expect any favors from the guy in a while.

Mind Reading Trick

How many fingers am I holding behind my back? What number am I picturing in my head? To ''mind read'' your friends and astound them with it, use this simple trick. You need a deck of cards, but you have to put the four sixes on top of it before the trick. When you start your performance, put the first four cards in a pile on the table, faced down (these are the sixes), then put the next six cards on another pile next to it in the same way. Tell the audience (or the victim) that you will read his mind and see which pile he will chose. Then write on a piece of paper ''you chose the six pile''. Tell him to pick a pile and show him the note (or ask someone else to read it). You will be right which ever pile he picked, because he could either choose the pile with the sixes in it or the pile with the six (random) cards.

The Chicken Bone Trick

This is a good trick. It will require a few days preparation (and practice) but it's guaranteed to amaze the audience whether the trick succeed or failed. It requires 2 chicken bones, 2 tables (one must be shorter then the other, and the bigger one must be covered with table cloth) and 2 "magic" boxes. The trick is that you will mess up your trick. You will say that you wanted to do a rope trick, but you forgot the rope. Then you will say that you will use the bone of the chicken from your recent meal instead. You will say that you will turn it into a rope with a knot in the middle. Then you do the magic on it but you will miss the magical words on it, the result will be a bone with a knot on it!

This trick is half science.

Drop one of the chicken bones into the vinegar. Make sure it's totally immersed. Leave it there for a day. The bone will now be like a piece of string. Tie it in a knot. Leave it sit on the table for another day. In time it will be hard again. Place two tables one by the other but so that the audience doesn't see tthe smaller one (you covered the big one with table cloth). Put the knotted bone inside one of the magic boxes. Leave the other one empty, set them both on the low table that no one but the magician can see.

DURING THE TRICK:
Take the empty magic box and put it on the table. Let everyone see that it's empty. Place the chicken bone in the box. Wave your magic wand over it and say Abracadabra, pull out the bone and look very disappointed.

When you're revealing that nothing happened, look embarrassed and quickly put everything back on the table. Make sure you put the box as close as possible to the other box.

Make it look like you're starting to explain the next trick. Then have your assistant (or do it yourself) remind you that you used the wrong magic word. Look very excited and start repeating the correct magic word ALAKA-CHICKEN to yourself. Moving quickly like you're excited to get going again, put the bone back in the empty box while it's still on the low table.

Now turn to the audience and ask them to help you remember the new magic word.
Pick up the box with the knotted bone inside. Wave the wand and say ABRACA-CHICKEN!

In all the excitement and confusion the audience should miss the fact that you switched boxes.

Realize that you've said the wrong word again. Look nervous -- it's an advanced magic word *gulp*. Reach in and pull out the chicken bone with a knot in it.

(you can say something like: The bad news is that it didn't turn into a rope. The good news is that it does have a knot in it).

The thing I really like about this trick is that even if they do figure out you switched boxes they'll be hard pressed to sort out how you tied a knot in a chicken bone.

Magical Pen Trick

I remember that during my elementary school, an illusionist came to our school to entertain us. Most of his tricks were crappy and easily figured out, but one trick stood out from the rest. The magic pen trick. He took one 10 kuna bill, and he folded it. Then he used his pen to poke a hole in the bill and he let it stay there (like the picture). After a few moments showing us the pen and the bill he pulled the pen out and showed us the bill. It was unscratched! He said that it was a magical pen which he bought in a special place (I'm thinking eBay). Here is a video demonstrating the trick, so help me out to explain it (this time for real :) )

Criss Angel Goes Through Glass

Some call him the greatest illusionist after Copperfield, others see the unholy one in him. It's Criss Angel and yet again he breaks the laws of physics. This time he will try to prove that glass can be a liquid even at room temperature. The video demonstrates his "walk" through glass. Now, I found a video demonstrating how it could have been done, but I want to hear your opinion on the trick and how it is done. Post your ideas in the comments (Just don't cheat and look around the internet for the possible solutions).

Also this is my last post here, as I'm leaving for vacation. Vurdlak will try to replace me for the time being, but I will return, maybe even during month. So be nice to him and be sure to laugh on his jokes.

Simple Water Trick

Ever wanted to make your friends (and enemy's) think that you have divine powers? Well with this simple and easy to make trick they will see the inner Moses in you. You need a simple bowl or plate filled with water and sprinkle it with some pepper. Put just enough so it covers the surface but so you can still see the bottom. Then put some dish-washing liquid on the tip of your finger, but be careful not to wipe it or show it to the potential "audience". Now ask your friend/enemy to put his finger in the middle of the bowl and touch the bottom. He may be skeptical that nothing will happen, but he will be right. Now you touch it. Was that a trick or what? Here is a video explaining the trick, but I suggest you do it first yourself before seeing it to surprise yourself with the result.

Ball And Vase

This is a nifty trick that I found, showing magic only with a little vase and ball(s). The performer shows one ball, then another as he opens and closes the vase. How did both balls manage to stay in that little vase at the same time? Anyone has an idea how this trick is done?

Also I wanted to announce that the, eagerly awaited author, Vurdlak will be back to continue my work here for a minimum wage while I'm at my summer villa somewhere in the Caribbean. So don't be mean to him or poke him for not being on vacation. He has a job to do, and his family is counting on him to do it (or it's the immigration office with them).

Disappearing Card Trick

Before I go with a trick, I would like to ask you what kind of tricks do you prefer more: the ones with a video or picture attached to it, explaining it, or videos of someone doing magic (D. Copperfield, C. Angel, D. Blaine) with an explanation.

Anyway, a good trick is one of those that you can repeat a lot of times before the same audience and make them drop their jaws every time. This trick is one of those and it is easy to make. You will pick up one card from a pile of cards with a handkerchief, and with a few magic words make it disappear. It's quite easy to do this. All you need is a deck of cards (or just a bundle of them), a handkerchief and a toothpick. More...

Before you start with the trick, cut the toothpick so it is the same length as the width of the card (width is the shorter side of the card). Then poke it into the hem of the handkerchief. Make sure it doesn't fall out. When you perform the trick, scramble the deck on the table and cover the pile with your handkerchief.

Now pick up the handkerchief (together with the toothpick) with your thumb and forefinger and raise it in the air. The audience will think that you are holding a card behind the handkerchief. Now mutter some magic words and wave the handkerchief in the air, showing the audience that the "card" has disappeared. Just watch out so you don't accidentally throw the toothpick into the audience.

Simple Card Trick

This is one of those tricks which you can show to your friends to amaze them while waiting for the last person to join in your poker game. All you need is eleven cards which you can easily extract from the regular play deck. The trick is that you will lay 11 cards, face down, in a line and ask someone to move several cards, one at a time, from the right side to the left side, while you turn your back so you don't see them (or you can leave the room). When they are done you will dramatically announce that you will pull one card from the "snake" that will show how much cards the volunteer has moved from right to left. How to do it - More...

The trick is in the cards you placed in the line and in which order. You need one joker, an ace and all the numbers up to 10. Then place them in this order: 6 5 4 3 2 A J 10 9 8 7, where A is the ace and J is the joker. If the person who moved the cards moved 5 cards then the new order would be: J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 A. Now all you need to do is to count (but not obviously) 7 cards and turn around the 7th card. In this case it would be the 5, which is the exact number of cards that your friend moved. No matter how many cards were moved, the 7th card will always point out the number. In the case that your friend didn't move any card, then the 7th card would be the joker.

If you are very good with math try this trick with more cards or similar .

Hamburger Magic

Alright, this trick really got my eyes staring (and my stomach working), while the guy pulls out real burgers out of an ordinary burger menu and gives them around. Think of the possibilities of this trick if it could be used on other paper adds: food, cars, money, animals (pulling an elephant from a magazine will really get you some attention, not to mention spouses). It would also satisfy the man in the picture to the left. Man I really need to get that Japanese guy come to Croatia to pull some things out of billboards, magazines...(and prison).
I also wanted to remind you of the (un)fortunate event that made our previous author go to a better place (no, he is not dead), but as the prison is not a high security one, he will be out before you know it.

Psychological Card Trick

Hey people! Did you see something unusual in this post? If you take a closer look next to the publish date you will see that Vurdlak is not the author. He had been taken by the police for illegal herb growing (if you know what I mean) so I, his brother, will take this sister site and publish new and cooler tricks for you. The good news is that the police gave him a laptop and internet connection so he can still run the illusion site from prison. So don't forget to send him a nice e-mail or a packet with a file in it.

Anyway, this is another one of those tricks that prove that we can't always trust our eyes. The narrator demonstrates a simple trick with three cards and tells us to choose one. But there are more tricks here then it meets the eye. How did he manage to find the card? Try to explain it, but not the psychological side.

Stapled Card Magic Trick

Here's a good one! Apparently the magician in this video won a "best magic trick of the year award" performing his mysterious card trick. This flick is in Spanish I think, but you should be able to understand easily just by watching it. Again, let's solve this together through comments. I understand this on is hard, but somehow I didn't feel it was spectacular enough to win some kind of award. Well, this is not my profession, so I won't be judging magicians here.
