Kent Sterling has decided to leave 101 ESPN for personal reasons and to spend more time with his family in Indianapolis.
Kent’s last day with us will be Friday, March 15, 2013. Please make sure you stop by and say your good-bye’s before he leaves!

Hoss Neupert replaces Kent as PD.
http://stlmediastuff.blogspot.com/

This could get interesting ...

Secret Squirrel spews...

Clear Channel will be launching a new talk station on 104.9 on or around May 1. 97.1 is going to be looking to fill time when they lose Hannity and Beck. George Noory will be heard on the new station, and as soon as contractual obligations are up with KMOX, expect Rush Limbaugh to move to the new station by early 2014. A very familliar name locally is in talks for morning drive.

Discuss as you will on our message board.

93.7 The Arrow KKRW Names JC Corcoran New Morning Show Host ...

Houston, Texas – March 1, 2013 – 93.7 The Arrow KKRW, Houston’s Classic Rock Station, announced today that JC Corcoran will join the station as its new Morning Show Host. Corcoran will host weekday mornings from 5:30-10 a.m. CT, beginning March 21, 2013.

In addition to The Arrow Morning Show, Corcoran will be a contributor to Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Houston’s talk stations, KTRH and KPRC. Prior to joining the Houston market, he spent the last twenty-nine years in St. Louis as a radio personality at various stations including KSHE, KSD, KIHT and KMOX. While in St. Louis, Corcoran also served as an Entertainment Editor and Commentator at NBC, CBS and Fox television stations as well as columnist at St. Louis Sports Magazine. Corcoran’s previous radio experience also includes stops at DC101 in Washington, D.C., 97Rock in Buffalo, N.Y and The Loop in Chicago.

“After being on-air in the Midwest for so long it’s exciting to now have the opportunity to connect with people in an entirely new region,” said Corcoran.

“We’re excited to have JC on our team,’ said Marc Sherman, Operations Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Houston. “He’ll bring a fun, new approach to The Arrow that our audience will definitely enjoy.”

“People started trying to run me out of town two weeks after I got here back in 1984, so I consider it a moral victory that it took them twenty-nine years to do it,” Corcoran added. “In all seriousness, I’m proud of the longevity I had here, the scores of charities we helped raise money for, and the fact I took an unprecedented three, also-ran morning shows on the three different stations, to number one. It’s never been done before in St. Louis and I doubt it will ever happen again.”

Corcoran will continue to perform swing duty on WGN Radio in his hometown of Chicago where he’s been filling in since last April.

The deal was negotiated by Corcoran’s longtime attorney, Jeff Gershman, of Stone, Leyton & Gershman in Clayton.

You can view JC’s farewell to St. Louis on his video blog at jcontheline.com.

Fans can listen to 93.7 The Arrow KKRW on the station’s website, 937thearrow.com, as well as on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s all-in-one digital radio service. iHeartRadio delivers everything listeners want in one free, fully-integrated service: instant access to more than 1,500 of the nation’s most popular live broadcast and digital-only radio stations from 150 cities, plus user-created custom stations inspired by favorite artists and songs. iHeartRadio also offers listeners a new “Perfect For” feature which allows users to choose from thousands of curated stations based on a range of moods and activities.

This all came down today, thought you should know.

Cumulus is coming to STL, buying the CBS cluster and KTRS. Through a deal weith the Cardinals brokered by CBS, Cumulus will buy the Cards half of the station and enojgh stock from thee shareholders to gain majority control of the station. Then they'll put the CBS Sports network on it and move some KMOX sports confolct games there. Evidently frank will be toast when all this happens.

Expect this to close some time in the first quarter, definitely before baseball season so the Cards can get out of the KTRS deal cleanly.
