OBAMA - RUNNING FROM HIS RECORD, BUT HE WON'T BE ABLE TO HIDE FROM IT.

In a "60 Minutes" interview, Mr. Obama offered what might be insight into his 2012 presidential election strategy. It takes some decoding, but his underlying strategic goals emerge in what he says, "The question next year is going to be — and then this is how a democracy is supposed to work — do they see a more compelling vision coming out from the other side? Do they think that cutting taxes further, including on the wealthy, cutting taxes on corporations, of gutting regulations — do we think that that is going to be somehow more successful? And if the American people think that that’s a recipe for success and a majority are persuaded by that, then I’m going to lose."

It appears he wants the election to be a referendum on the Republican candidates and their political philosophy. By posing the key question as whether the GOP remedy for the economy will be "somehow more successful," he makes it clear that he wants this contest to be about the Republican Party proposals. The proposals from Newt Gingrich, do however hold promise; I’ve seen them work twice in my lifetime.

President Obama hopes he can fool the American People and appear to be running as a non-incumbent, abandoning all but a pro forma defense of his record and instead running as he would were there an open seat, thus pretending it’s the 2008 election again. He wants it to be the 2008 election all over again, where he is free to float ideas without taking any responsibility for his performance in office or that of the economy on his watch. Only this time, unlike his brief, insignificant, and often, "missing-in-action" tenure in the Illinois Legislature and the U.S. Senate, there is a record of his performance this go around – a record and legacy of failure.

I get the impression that he is determined to make the presidential election a contest between two policy alternatives, deliberately omitting the issue of competence, or more so, his incompetence. He wants all the votes that his point of view will permit him to garner despite his obvious incompetence in implementing it. Obama seems to want to turn the election into a referendum on policy, almost as if it were an issue on the ballot rather than a president seeking reelection. While this preference is understandable, given his dismal record, the Republican Party (click for link) cannot let him get away with it. He’s like an incompetent employee hoping to save his job by advocating a broad-based shift in his corporation’s philosophy in the hopes that his bosses will ignore his own poor performance. Anyone with a pulse and a functioning brain could not have overlooked poor performance. I don’t believe that he can convince the majority of Americans the he deserves another term or that it would in any way benefit ‘everyday’, American People.

The key question Republican Candidates must pose to the president: "What are you planning to do in the next four years to get the economy moving that you have not tried and failed with during your first term, especially during that portion of the term when you had total control of Congress and still couldn’t fix the economy?"

Of course, the other part of Obama’s presidential election strategy will be a slash-and-burn approach to attacking his opponent. Using the cooperation of the "bought-and-paid-for" media, he will throw any accusation that comes to mind against his Republican Party opponent in the hope that enough sticks to help him win. But in this essentially negative approach to the campaign, he is laboring under the handicap that the aspiring Republican Candidates will have been thoroughly vetted during the primaries. Any negatives that exist will have been aired so extensively that they will pack little punch in the fall. In this respect, the primary contest is serving to inoculate the potential Republican Candidates by raising all the negatives and exhausting them before the fall presidential election even starts.

As for the rest of Mr. Obama’s strategy — it won’t work. Nobody is going to forget the current state of the economy or fail to remember how ineffective the stimulus program was at doing anything other than digging us deeper into self-destructive debt. The fact is that an incumbent president is up for reelection and there is more than a clash of philosophies at issue. There will be two men, and one of them, Barack Hussein Obama, is a demonstrated failure(click for video).

I would suggest, in opposition to Obama and his socialist agenda, that Americans not accept the media maneuvers to decieve the public and their attempts to, in effect, select Mitt "Rmoney" as the Republican Nominee and pick a strong, conservative to lead our country out of the current mess and into a properous future; that would be Newt Gingrich (click for link).

Like Rush Limbaugh said, and I agree, we don't need a flip-flopping, moderate. You might need a moderate if you were grasping for votes in a tight election. During his 1994 campaign for Senate in Massachusetts, Romney disowned any connection to or affinity for Ronald Reagan: "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. Romney proudly defended donations to Democratic congressional candidates that he made in 1992. He told reporters: ‘I don’t think they’re mortal sins for Republican Party members to make contributions to good people and to their friends, irrespective of their party.’

The 1992 presidential election had consequences: Democrats took simultaneous control of the White House, House of Representatives, and Senate for the first time since 1980, and Bill Clinton and the Democratic Congress would quickly raise taxes in 1993. Just days before the 1994 Congressional mid-term election, Massachusetts Senate candidate Mitt Romney vigorously opposed the Contract with America in his debate with incumbent Senator Ted Kennedy. Romney said the Contract with America, signed by over 350 Republican Candidates for the House of Representatives, was "not a good idea" and "a mistake".

In his failed 1994 Massachusetts Senate campaign, Mitt Romney vigorously opposed the Contract with America. Running on the Contract as a solemn promise to the American people to accomplish the items of the Contract, Republicans took back the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years, and proceeded to cut taxes.

Moreover, he repeatedly has spent much of his own fortune to outspend opponents. While I have no problem with any candidate spending his own money, in our Republic much can be said for the candidate who is able to raise money from the "folks" to run his campaign. It demonstrates support from the grassroots, as opposed to buying support in a presidential election process. I separate the two. Romney contributed over $6 million to his own campaign during the election against Kennedy, a state record at the time. He'll do much the same thing in the 2012 republican presidential election contest.

Even while Governor of Massachusetts he demonstrated his moderate, progressive tendencies much of the time. Romney supported raising various fees by more than $300 million, including those for driver's licenses, marriage licenses, and gun licenses. He increased a special gasoline retailer fee by two cents per gallon. Anytime fees and taxes are raised they impose a hardship on those who can least afford them. Something progressives have no problem with.

Republican candidates for POTUS have to do everything in their power to demonstrate leadership skills, strength of conviction, ability to raise money, support from grassroots voters, strength of message and its applicability in the world today, resourcefulness, capacity to respond instantaneously when challenged, and an distinctly American spirit. Mitt has failed on all those fronts in both the 2008 election and the 2012 presidential election. In this presidential election, there is one candidate who has demonstrated all of those traits and that's Newt Gingrich. When the mainstream media had Newt's candidacy DOA, Newt proved his resourcefulness and raised money, stayed on message, demonstrated leadership skills, spoke well of all the candidates, remained convicted that the country could do better, and responded instantaneously when challenged.

In any modern day presidential election foreign policy must necessarily be a very serious component of the debate. In a world filled with serious conflict, both regional and sectarian, the "abiding alternative to tyranny" (a Ronald Reagan reference to America) must recognize its responsibility to survive and to protect others who share our values. While most of the republican candidates in the 2012 presidential election understand this in principle, the practical application of what that means is another matter.

Sun Tzu, the author of The Art of War written sometime between 476–221 BC, said "If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself, you are certain to be in peril." Put another way, to avoid peril, know yourself and know your enemy.
Let's start with knowing ourselves. Reagan's reference to the United States as the "abiding

Ron Paul, a republican party candidate in the 2008 election and the 2012 presidential election who is actually a libertarian clothed as a republican, would both describe us as the "world's policeman." However, that is a negative and a intentionally poisoned reference. We are not and clearly cannot be the world's policeman. What we can be is a protector of those who share our values. Very different from being a policeman, a protector looks after those who otherwise would be unable to protect or defend themselves.

The other problem with the world's policeman analogy is that it is used to imply that the knee-jerk American response is to use force. While the threat of the use of force and the ability to deliver it is an important piece of a sound foreign policy, a practical protector knows that is the last resort. We Need An American President With American Values

subduction of those who would otherwise threaten America and those who share our values "without fighting," the leader of the free world had better have a good idea about how that is done. That person had better be real diplomat who sees the world for what it is: seriously conflicted. The 2012 presidential election and specifically the republican candidates are no exception in that regard. In fact, the case can be made that this is one of the most important elections in recorded history when it comes to foreign policy issues.

Now, how about knowing our enemy, knowing those who would be a treat to those we wish to protect? Newt Gingrich, a republican candidates for president in the republican presidential election, has argued effectively that we should be candid about our opponents. As a long-time member of the hawkish republican party born out of the Reagan administration's "peace through strength" policy of the 1980's, he understands better than any republican candidates in this presidential primary that such candidness is an indespensible part of defining America. Particularly to our enemy and specifically to our allies.

To be candid is to be free from reservation, disguise, or subterfuge. Frankly, it means to be straightforward. One of the particular difficulties with someone who is uncandid is that one must attempt to read their minds, so to speak. Beating around the bush results in never really knowing their thinking and as a result making it very difficult to understand what motivates them. On the other hand, when one is candid that is never the case. To be candid about our enemies and what motivates us with regard to them and they with regard to us is probably the most important missing ingredient today in the world of foreign policy which has been in recent years driven by political correctness. That is a dangerous element to allow into the debate when there is so much as stake in the world today. There will be no place for political correctness in the coming years and Newt Gingrich is the one republican candidates who fundamentally understands that.

Illegal immigration in the United States is a complex and difficult problem that is once again an issue in the 2012 presidential election. This issue has shown a contrast between the republican candidates in the way the issue needs to be resolved. The rule of law is of tantamount importance in America. As a result, most Americans feel strongly that those in this country illegally should be "sent home." Some estimates have that number at 10 or 11 million people. Let's put that number in perspective: If you stood every mother, father, and child who were in this country illegally in one place you would have a group one and a half times the size of the City of New York! That's a lot of people here illegally. In fact, it's a huge number. Nearly an unmanageable number when you think about the "sending them home" piece. However, most Americans would argue that a way needs to be found to do it nonetheless. Before a solution is implemented, that number cannot be allowed to increase; the leak has to be stopped. Something we have heard since the 2008 election.

Which leads us to the border with Mexico. At 1,969 miles, it is a vast and difficult terrain. It spans four U.S. states, six Mexican states, and has over twenty commercial railroad crossings. While the area can mostly be fenced effectively, there are parts that might not lend themselves well to fencing, particularly the railroad crossings. Those areas could be patrolled by unmanned drones with Homeland Security and ICE personnel at the ready to respond to breeches, as Newt Gingrich, one of the top-tier republican candidates has suggested. Again, something we have heard over and over again since the 2008 election, yet, little has been accomplished to get it done.

The security fence is not an inexpensive proposition, estimated to cost roughly $4 million a mile. If we were to build 1,900 miles of fence, the cost would be right around $8 billion. While that is a lot of money, it pales in comparison to the loss of life on the border due to the difficulty of the terrain, the heat and lack of life supporting resources along the border (estimates are as high as 2,000 a year), the potential for terrorists to cross, the jobs taken from citizens of the United States by the illegal border crossers, the gang and criminal influence which follows illegal immigration, etc. There is a seldom heard fact, that there are approximately 280,000 illegal crossings of our border by people who are not Mexicans. As a result, most Americans would agree that it is a small price to pay for the elimination of those problems. In fact, with few exceptions every one of the republican candidates for president since the 2008 election has claimed support for the fence. Yet, it remains incomplete. We need a President of the United States who will lead in the political process to get it done.

Once the border is sealed and the leak stopped, the existing illegal population can be dealt with. As was discussed above, the number of illegal immigrants is very large indeed. Some of the best ideas for dealing with this part of the problem come from none other than republican party candidate, Newt Gingrich. As a candidate for President of the United States he has approached these and other issues head on and with great intellect. These problems require serious attention and bold leadership. Now there is Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Team Obama talking about the "fake Texas miracle" and how they are "low paying jobs" or "government jobs" in the OIL AND GAS industry (?!) and they can't make up their minds on whether or not they want to take credit for Texas job creation or bash it or just take the credit away from Perry. Here's some facts for people like the Washington Post. It is considered a dishonor in our culture as Hispanics to seek government help unless there is a serious reason to do so. If we need help, we go first to our FAMILIES and the CHURCH.

Michael Emory @Anthony John James Mathison - I am so proud of you for being able to see and understand what the "dimocrats" are trying to do to the Hispanic families. Within just a few years of life as a "dimocratic" welfare slaves the family and social structure of the Hispanic community will be destroyed just like they did with the blacks. What you end up with is a whole group of people with no responsibility for themselves, that are so busy standing in line for a hand-out that they don't have time at first and later just don't give a damm about getting out and being part of a productive society. 1. Lieberman Warns PA Ready for 'Bloodshed' in September

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has announced he is advocating that Israel sever all ties with the Palestinian Authority.

Lieberman told reporters Sunday that he would ask the "forum of eight" – a subgroup of ministers within the Cabinet – to end Israel's relations with Ramallah.

The foreign minister explained the reason for the move stemmed from the PA's attempt to prosecute IDF officers at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

"No Finance Ministry officials, not the Water Authority and no Foreign Ministry officials [will maintain ties]," he said. "You cannot have security coordination [with Israel] while you are also trying IDF soldiers at The Hague."

Lieberman said the PA is making preparations to carry out wholesale bloodshed in September. At that time, the PA plans to ask the United Nations to officially recognize it as an independent country, and to grant it membership status within the international body.

The foreign minister said PA officials, despite claims of "non-violent action," are instead preparing to flood checkpoints with tens of thousands of PA Arabs who might then force their way past IDF soldiers and into Israel's major cities.

"The Palestinian Authority is getting ready for bloodshed on a scale we haven't seen," he warned. "The more they speak about non-violent action, the more they are preparing for bloodshed."

Copter shot down, killing 30 US troops, 7 Afghans

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite Navy SEALs unit that killed Osama bin Laden, as well as seven Afghan commandos, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war.

The downing was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team 6, months after its crowning achievement. It was also a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.

None of the 22 SEAL personnel killed in the crash were part of the team that killed bin Laden in a May raid in Pakistan, but they belonged to the same unit. Their deployment in the raid in which the helicopter crashed would suggest that the target was a high-ranking insurgent figure.

Special operations forces, including the SEALs and others, have been at the forefront in the stepped up strategy of taking out key insurgent leaders in targeted raids, and they will be relied on even more as regular troops pull out.

The strike is also likely to boost the morale of the Taliban in a key province that controls a strategic approach to the capital Kabul. The Taliban claimed they downed the helicopter with a rocket while it was taking part in a raid on a house where insurgents were gathered in the province of Wardak overnight. Wreckage of the craft was strewn across the crash site, a Taliban spokesman said.

A senior U.S. administration official in Washington said it appeared the craft had been shot down. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the crash is still being investigated.

"Their deaths are a reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the men and women of our military and their families, including all who have served in Afghanistan," President Barack Obama said in a statement, adding that his thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who perished.

The U.S.-led coalition said in a statement that 30 American service members, a civilian interpreter and seven Afghan commandos were killed when their CH-47 Chinook crashed in the early hours Saturday. A current U.S. official and a former U.S. official said the Americans included 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers and a dog handler and his dog. The two spoke on condition of anonymity because military officials were still notifying the families of the dead.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced the number of people killed in the crash and the presence of special operations troops before any other public figure. He also offered his condolences to the American and Afghan troops killed in the crash.

The deaths bring to 365 the number of coalition troops killed this year in Afghanistan and 42 this month.

The overnight raid took place in the Tangi Joy Zarin area of Wardak's Sayd Abad district, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Kabul. Forested peaks in the region give the insurgency good cover and the Taliban have continued to use it as a base despite repeated NATO assaults.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement that the helicopter was involved in an assault on a house where insurgent fighters were gathering. During the battle, the fighters shot down the helicopter with a rocket, he said.

An American official in Brussels said the helicopter was a twin-rotor Chinook, a large troop and cargo transporter.

The casualties are believed to be largest loss of life in the history of SEAL Team Six, officially called the Navy Special Warfare Development Group, or DEVGRU. The team is considered the best of the best among the already elite SEALs, which numbers 3,000 personnel.

NPR and ABC News first reported that those aboard were believed to be Navy SEALs. The AP withheld the report at the request of their sources until they believed the majority of families of those lost had been notified.

The death toll surpasses the previous worst single day loss of life for the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001 — the June 28, 2005 downing of a military helicopter in eastern Kunar province.

In that incident, 16 Navy SEALs and Army special operations troops were killed when their craft was shot down while on a mission to rescue four SEALs under attack by the Taliban. Three of the SEALs being rescued were also killed and the fourth wounded.

Afghanistan has more U.S. special operations troops, about 10,000, than any other theater of war. The forces, often joined by Afghan troops, carry out as many as a dozen raids a night and have become one of the most effective weapons in the coalition's arsenal, also conducting surveillance and infiltration.

From April to July this year, special operations raids captured 2,941 insurgents and killed 834, twice as many as those killed or captured in the same three-month period of 2010, according to NATO.

The coalition plans to increase its reliance on special operations missions as it reduces the overall number of combat troops.

Night raids have drawn criticism from human rights activists and infuriated Karzai, who says they anger and alienate the Afghan population. But NATO commanders have said the raids are safer for civilians than relatively imprecise airstrikes.

The loss of so many SEALs at once will have a temporary impact on the tempo of missions they can carry out, but with an ongoing drawdown of special operations forces from Iraq, there will be more in reserve for Afghan missions.

The site of the crash, Tangi, is a particularly dangerous area, the site where many of the attacks that take place in the province are planned, said Wardak's Deputy Gov. Ali Ahmad Khashai. "Even with all of the operations conducted there, the opposition is still active."

The U.S. army had intended to hand over its Combat Outpost Tangi to Afghan National Security Forces in April, but the Afghans never established a permanent base there. "We deemed it not to be stategic and closed it," said coalition spokesman U.S. Army Maj. Jason Waggoner. "The Taliban went in and occupied it because it was vacant."

Western military commanders have been debating moving forces from other areas in Afghanistan to reinforce troops around the capital and in the east, where the Taliban is often aided by al-Qaida and other terrorist groups. Earlier this year, the U.S. military closed smaller outposts in at least two eastern provinces and consolidated its troops onto larger bases because of increased insurgent attacks and infiltration from the Pakistan border.There have been at least 17 coalition and Afghan aircraft crashes in Afghanistan this year.

Most of the crashes were attributed to pilot errors, weather conditions or mechanical failures. However, the coalition has confirmed that at least one CH-47F Chinook helicopter was hit by a rocket propelled grenade on July 25. Two coalition crew members were injured in that attack.

The affiliate entrepreneur will receive a pre-determined reward based on the amount of traffic, sales, or leads it helps bring to the company. In other words, this is also known as referral fee as it is basically what you will be doing for them, referring their product or service to visitors who are looking for information or to purchase something. You can find an almost unlimited number of companies that offer programs for an affiliate marketing business opportunity on the internet. So it's up to you to choose one that will be beneficial for you and your business.

A niche is something that sets your marketing business opportunity apart from your competitors. A Specialized Market is needed to compete with other businesses. You need a unique niche. Just make sure your competitors are not using the same one. Following are some ideas you can use to create that unique specialized niche.

Your niche could be that you offer free delivery. This may cost a little money, but you will gain the extra customers. You could offer a lower price to establish your Niche. Offer a discount sale if you can't afford to lower the price. It could be that your product achieves results faster. This niche is very effective because people are becoming more and more impatient and want results fast. Your credibility could be your niche. Some people think if you have been in business for a long period of time, you have more credibility.

Some of your five senses could open a niche market for you. Your product tastes, smells, sounds, looks, or feels better than the competition. When you target the senses, you're triggering basic human reactions. Your product could be light and compact. People may want to take the product on a trip. They may have little space, so they need a compact item. Your special niche could be that you've won a business reward. When you win a reward, tell your customers or visitors about it. This increases their trust in your marketing business opportunity.

The longevity of the product could be used as a niche for your product. People don't like taking the time and spending more money buying replacement products all the time. Your niche could be that your product is easy to use. People don't want to buy a product that they have to read a 20 page, hard to understand, instruction manual. Better safety features could be used as a niche. Your customers want to feel safe when they use your product. Made by hand, home grown and home baked could be important niches. Most people believe that products made by hand, or made at home, have better quality.

Your niche could be that you stand behind all your products. People want to know that you back-up any claims you make about your product. This could be in the form of a guaranty, warranty or free replacements.
Another way is to think like your target audience. Put yourself in their shoes think like them. Give them polls and surveys to find out what they are thinking. Then capitalize on your finding and develop a niche that none of your competitors have found. Use your brainpower, ask yourself questions like; how can I set myself apart from my competition? What could I offer that my competition can't?

Now that you have your niche, that's just half the battle, you must test it. Does your niche appeal to your target audience? Will it attract people away from your competition? If it does, you're done, until your competition comes up with a better niche. If your niche doesn't, then repeat the process above and test until it works. If you want to eliminate your competition and be successful you will use this process several times.

These are but a few ways that can set you apart from your competitors in finding and maintaining your niche. Always keep an eye open for new niches that will set your marketing business opportunity apart.

The Road to Jobs
To be clear, these worrying trends may simply be signs of a faltering recovery rather than a coming economic contraction. However, with another weak jobs report expected for June, there will inevitably be calls for action from Congress.
We have had three straight stimulus bill failures. The $150 billion Bush-Pelosi stimulus bill failed. The Bush-Pelosi housing stimulus bill failed. And now, the evidence is clear that the Obama stimulus bill has failed.
So the question before us is simple. Will we enact a fourth big government, Keynesian stimulus? Or will we learn the lessons of history and pass an economic growth bill modeled after the Kennedy-Reagan tax rate cuts that created unprecedented economic booms?
Fortunately, there is a bill before Congress based directly on that Kennedy-Reagan tradition. It is the Economic Freedom Act (HR5029), sponsored by Congressmen Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah). The centerpiece of this bill is five bold tax cuts modeled after the tax cuts in the American Solutions Jobs First Plan.
These bold changes to our tax system would provide small businesses with immediate liquidity and change the underlying tax structure of America to set the stage for long term economic growth. They include: Reducing the payroll tax by half for 2010 to provide immediate liquidity for companies and employees; Eliminating the capital gains tax to encourage investment in new companies; Reducing the corporate tax rate to 12.5% to make us competitive globally; Permanently eliminating the death tax so small businesses and family farms can continue creating jobs for future generations; Providing immediate business expensing so American workers have the best equipment and are the most productive. The choice before us is clear.
Will we enact more of the same failed, Keynesian stimulus bills that rely on government bureaucrats to distribute our money as they see fit?

America: Going Out of Business?

In September 2008, as our President announced that he was abandoning the free market in order to save it and Congress was scrambling to pass the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, Peter Schiff - President of Euro-Pacific Capital - had this to say about the notion of a government bailout of the U.S. banking industry:

"In response to the most irresponsible monetary policy in U.S. history, American citizens borrowed and spent trillions of dollars, and now the institutions that loaned them the money are going broke because we can't pay it back. And this bailout isn't going to change the fact that we're broke. As a society we need to go back: away from borrowing and spending and towards producing and saving again. And the government's trying to interfere with the free market, and if they succeed with this bailout, what they're going to do is bring on a crisis far greater than the one they are trying to avoid."

Nearly two years later, the truth of Mr. Schiff's prediction could not be any clearer. We long ago lost sight of the fundamentals of responsible economics and have become a "borrow and spend" society. Multiple bailouts combined with out-of-control spending have led to a quadrupling of the U.S. budget deficit and a national debt of $13 trillion and rising. According to the Heritage Foundation's 2010 Federal Spending By the Numbers report, "spending and deficits continu[e] to grow at a pace not seen since World War II. Washington will spend $30,543 per household in 2010 - $5,000 per household more than just two years ago."

As ludicrous as it seems, our government's response to an economic crisis fueled largely by reckless borrowing and spending has been to… borrow and spend more. The decision-makers at the top have embraced the fallacious notion that a nation can spend its way to prosperity using borrowed money. This is a fallacy that many American families lived by for a better part of the last decade, riding high on the inflated lifestyle supported by easy credit. But, the bubble burst and it all came crashing down. Now with credit hard to come by, home foreclosures a common occurrence, and unemployment at record highs, many families that used to swear by "borrow and spend" have become reluctant disciples of "save and produce." The question remains, however, whether our government and representatives will ever get the message.

In order to dig ourselves out of the economic hole we've created, one of two things must occur: We must reduce spending or increase revenue. According to The Heritage Foundation, the government would merely need to reduce annual spending to the level that prevailed through the 1980s and 1990s (about $21,000 per household) in order to balance the budget by 2012. The President's existing budget, however, is evidence enough that restoring fiscal discipline is not high on his list of priorities. After all, the American people do love their entitlements, and squawk as we may about "cutting spending," what we really mean by that is "cut the other guy's program, but keep your hands of my [insert entitlement/social welfare/education program here]."

The alternative, then, is to raise taxes. However, the problem with raising taxes, as any Economics 101 student can tell you, is that increasing taxes has a chilling effect on productivity. Businesses can't thrive under onerous tax burdens, and the effects of this - dare I say it - "trickle down" to everyone else. When businesses can't produce, employees and their families can't get ahead. Saving and investing decline, and reliance on credit (or government) increases. Tax cuts, on the other hand, free up money to circulate at all levels of the economy, which actually boosts productivity and, eventually, leads to increased revenues for Uncle Sam. It's unfortunate that the issue of taxes have become such a tool for class warfare and partisanship when the truth is that adequate government revenues and low taxes need not be mutually exclusive.

As the economic viability of the European Union teeters on the brink of collapse, Americans are getting a close up look at what happens when "borrow and spend" becomes the national M.O.; yet instead of learning from the mistakes of others and changing our course, we seem more determined than ever to plunge headlong into deeper debt, spending our way into oblivion in order to "stimulate" the economy and "spread the wealth around."

America is approaching a financial breaking point. Government continues to balloon in size, taxes are poised to increase in any one of a dozen ways, and the companies responsible for a lion's share of the economic collapse are doing business as usual, having been rescued from collapse by the benevolence of Uncle Sam, at enormous cost to the taxpayers.

The American people and their government must change their way of doing business. If we don't, we will soon be out of business.

Top Ten Ways to Get Back on Track and Achieve the Success You Desire

We all get off track. Whether we get distracted, procrastinate or simply lose direction, it happens. There’s simply no way to be flawlessly on track all the time.

An airliner flying from one city to another is reportedly off-course over 99 percent of the time. But the pilots and the onboard computers are continuously correcting because they’re clear on their destination and constantly observing where they are.

So the ability to get back on track when we stray from our intended course is an important skill to master.

Here are ten of the best ways I know to achieve the success you want by getting back on track.

1. Notice Quickly. The sooner you notice that you’re off course, the easier and faster it is to make a correction.

This can be done by being super clear about what you want and constantly monitoring where you are in relation to it. Good metrics and feedback mechanisms can make a substantial difference and result in small corrections rather than lengthy and expensive ones.

2. Correction Without Invalidation. Most people expend far too much energy making themselves wrong for being off-course. Winners spend little to no time being upset for not being further along or having made mistakes. They notice, they learn and they move on.

3. Get Back to Your Goals. Many times we simply lose sight of our goals. That’s why it’s so important to be clear on them and to keep them in front of you. Write them down and post them where you will see them—often.
I recommend having your top three goals specifically defined, measurable, action-oriented (you have to do something to get there), realistic (at least to you) and timely (a deadline).

4. Revisit Your Why. The reason you want to achieve a goal is critical. Reasons come first, answers come second. If you have a big enough why, the way to achieve your goal will become clear. And your desire will go a long way toward keeping you on track.

When you HAVE to have something, it’s a lot harder to get off track—at least for very long.

5. Set Your Priorities. Knowing your core values helps you make better decisions. It enables you to become better at establishing your priorities (see our popular Core Values Course).

And when your priorities are clear, you’ll spend far less time agonizing about what you should do next.

6. Get an Accountability Partner. Most of us are used to being directed by a boss or we work with a team of people who help us stay on track and be more accountable.

If this isn’t the case, team up with someone else and work on your goals together. It’s more fun, you’ll be better at keeping your promises and you’ll make greater progress. When you get off track, you’ll refocus more quickly.

7. Join a Mastermind Team. Even better than an accountability partner is having a team of people who support each other in getting clear, staying focused and taking consistent, productive action.

We call our Diamond Club members an organized benevolent group of butt-kickers. Benjamin Franklin had his junto, companies have boards of directors; you should have your own mastermind team. They just work.

8. Minimize Distractions. Many entrepreneurs suffer from BSO syndrome (Bright and Shiny Objects). And we all get distracted by things that interest us and things we’re obligated to take care of.

But the more we can minimize them, notice quickly when they occur and then refocus, the faster and easier we will achieve our objectives.
A great acrostic for Focus is Focus on One Course Until Successful.

9. Make it Fun and Interesting. The more fun we can make things, the easier they are to do. And the less chance we will be distracted by other interesting things.

Take a lesson from Tom Sawyer and make the whitewashing of your fence seem fun. A lot of times, it’s how we look at things that determines whether it’s work or play. Make a game of it. Enroll some other people. CHOOSE to have fun with it.

10. Become Confident in Your Plans of Actions. Let’s face it, if we knew for sure that following a course of action would lead to achieving our goal, we would do it, right? It would be a lot harder to fall off the path.

One of the reasons why we don’t stick to something is that it’s not guaranteed that we will win. Most people have jobs because they know they’ll get paid at the end of the week—although even that isn’t so certain any more.

But if you knew for certain that if you took these particular steps in a certain order and in a certain fashion you would prevail, you would stay on track a lot better.

By researching, testing and studying successful practices, we can increase our confidence in our plans and activities. And the more confident we are that we will succeed, the more likely it is that we will stay on course.

Remember the Basics

I'm sure you, like many others, have been making resolutions, setting goals and creating strategic plans.

Let's face it, we all like new things. It's hard to beat NEW. We like the new idea, the latest and greatest strategy and the hot tactic of the day.

But in this quest, it's easy to lose sight of the fundamentals of success and happiness. When we're focused on the new stuff, it can be easy to neglect the basics.

As my wife and I mapped our plans, we talked about new objectives, targets and adventures. But we also talked about the importance of the simpler things; time together, planned IN-activity, sufficient hydration, good exercise and adequate sleep.

We discussed our need for reflection, affirmation, visualization, our social and physical environment and reading good books.

Because if we don’t pay attention to these things, our production will be limited by our production capacity. We need to take excellent care of ourselves, or we'll be unable to take care of others—and other things.

In addition, as we take on new things, we must also not forget to do the simpler, more basic things that have proven over and over to work.

When going through older material I often see things I've done but no longer do on a consistent basis. Why is that? Why would I stop doing something that worked well enough for me recommend to others? I can only assume that I got caught up in the excitement of new—and often UNPROVEN—things.

Let me be clear. I'm all for trying new things. I like doing fun and interesting stuff. And there's nothing wrong with looking for a better way to accomplish our objectives. But not while abandoning the fundamentals that have gotten us where we are.

So as you decide on your goals and on your path to achieve them, be sure you don’t let go of the essential building blocks of success.

One of things we do here is to teach, but also remind you, of success principles--the basic building blocks of a successful life and business.

Make sure your goals and projects are aligned with your core values, your mission and your vision. Take the time to gain the clarity, develop the focus and maintain the consistency you need to achieve your best.

Professional sports teams practice new plays and strategies. But they spend MOST of their time working on the basics. Even though they're professionals and have been doing the basics for many years, they know the importance of practicing the fundamentals—and they do it.

It works for them. And it will work for you. Never forget to practice the basics.
