Mind Trivias

Most of us use less than only 10% of our brain potential although we have access to the rest. We use more than 10% when we have a moment of creativity and inspiration.
The concept of a light bulb next to a person who have suddenly thought of an idea (in comic books, cartoons, or movies) came from Scientist Manuel Schoch’s research and observation – that when the brain is in a state of tranquility & observation, the brain lights up and we can access more information.
Our mind is inherently complex and likes to complicate things. Whereas, much in life is simple or has a simple (obvious) solution. We often miss what’s on our nose!
Left and Right Brain Relationship:

- Left Brain – logical, male, west, scientific, grasping, conceptualizing, analytical

- Right Brain – emotional, female, east, intuitive, spatial, creative, artistic, receptive

We have approximately 50,000 – 60,000 thoughts per day. Unfortunately, 95% of those thoughts we had today are the same ones we had yesterday! That would make only 5% of thoughts we think are new each day.
Are you thinking about what you’re thinking about? Read that sentence again and read it carefully. It’s not a play on words.
People can typically remember about 7 (±2) items in a random list.
The mind is an iceberg; it floats with only 17 percent of its bulk above water – Sigmund Freud (1856 – 1939)

When faced with ill-natured people, we should think about the fact that in the past they failed to see the harmfulness of the disturbing emotions which now overwhelm them.

They became accustomed to giving them full reign and this familiarity has carried over into their present life. Nor can they have created much positive energy. All of this accounts for their unpleasant conduct.

A question from a reader: I’m trying to find out if marriage license is legal. Wife did not use current legal name on marriage certificate. Here comes the sad part, the first time we supposedly got married, we weren’t really married because she was still married to somebody else. So two years later she convinced him to “renew” their vows. Only thing is her name as it appears on the license is not the legal name she uses. We have child support court documents with a totally different name. Trying to find out if the “second” license is legal. Forget about the whole marriage under false pretenses. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the grounds for divorce in New York?

If you are a resident of the state of New York, four of the grounds in New York divorce law are based on “fault” of one of the parties. They are:

1) cruel and inhuman treatment;
2) abandonment for one or more years;
3) imprisonment for three or more consecutive years;
4) adultery (which can include “deviant sexual intercourse”).
The only ground that doesn’t call for one party to be at fault is one year living apart under either a separation agreement or a separation decree granted by a court. This is the closest thing New York divorce law has to a “no-fault” ground for divorce.

In most cases, fault has no bearing on the division of marital assets or on spousal support.

Annulment

In New York divorce law, the court declares the marriage contract broken; in an annulment, the court says that there never was a marriage. Annulment is much more difficult to prove — and is much rarer — than divorce. If you want to go this route, you will definitely need to speak to an attorney. Ofcourse, if you want an annulment for religious reasons, you’ll need to consult with your priest, minister, or rabbi as well.

Documentation

You’ll need to provide your divorce lawyer with the following documentation in order to proceed with your dissolution. Start gathering everything together as soon as possible so that you can find out what might be missing and submit any requests for duplicates.

Personal Data

• Full addresses, social-security numbers, and phone numbers of both parties.
• Full names, birth dates, addresses, and social-security numbers of all children of the marriage, their school and grade.
• Information about any prior marriage of either spouse, including a certified copy of the divorce decree.
• A copy of any domestic contracts (e.g. a prenuptial agreement).
• Information about any previous legal proceedings between the spouses or involving any of the children.
• Dates and particulars about any previous separations, attempts at reconciliation, or marriage counseling.

Financial Data

• Your previous year’s income tax return, and any related data from the IRS.
• Information about your current income (e.g. a current pay slip).
• A list of substantial assets and liabilities of both spouses.
• Loan applications, broker’s statements, stock certificates, insurance.

In the begining of this year , the most imoportant wish for everybody is healthy. And, if you do want to be health , then please never smok. There are many reasons for it.

A new study confirms that smoking raises a person’s risks of the major forms of esophageal and stomach cancers, while drinking has more narrow effects.

In a study that followed more than 120,000 Dutch adults for 16 years, researchers found that smoking increased the risk of the two main forms of stomach cancer, as well as the two forms of esophageal cancer — by anywhere from 60 percent to 263 percent versus non-smokers.

The findings, published in the journal Gut, underscore general health recommendations to drink only in moderation and to quit, or preferably never start, smoking.

In addition, they also suggest that smoking and drinking cannot account for the changing face of esophageal and stomach cancers in Western countries, according to Jessie Steevens of Maastricht University in the Netherlands and co-investigators.

Less smoking , more healthy, more happy !

a joke?Nice House

After John Elway dies and enters the Pearly Gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows John a little two-bedroom house with a faded Broncos banner hanging from the front porch. “This is your house, John. Most people don’t get their own houses up here,” God says.

John looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one sitting on top of the hill. It’s a huge two-story mansion with white marble columns and little patios under all the windows. Wisconsin flags line both sides of the sidewalk and a huge Green Bay Packers banner hangs between the marble columns.

“Thanks for the house, God, but let me ask you a question. I get this little two-bedroom house with a faded banners and Brett Favre gets a mansion with brand new Packers banners and flags flying all over the place. Why is that?”

God looks at him seriously for a moment, then with a smile, God says, “That’s not Favre’s house, it’s mine.”

This film is based on the inspiring true story of the first openly gay man elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Harvey Milk is a gay who is about to reach his forties, and he has achieved only few goals in his life. He always dreams to achieve something big in his life. On the Eve of his forty, he met a young dashing man — Scott Smith. Soon they both fall in love with each other. Soon they decide to move to San Francisco, where some districts are notably gayer friendly.

Being new to the place, Harvey opens a camera and photo shop in the Castro Street District and soon he make friends in the area and becomes aware of the issues occurring within the gay community. Soon he witnesses the cops to behave brutally with the gay people he loves. So he decides to stand against such brutality by taking an activist stance so that this injustice against his kind can be brought to light.

For the welfare of his gay community, Milk launched a series of political party campaigns to become the first openly gay man to be elected to public office. Even though he got disappointed in two successive elections, he was elected as the member of San Francisco Board of Supervisors at his third try in 1977. Unfortunately, Milk has a difficult relationship with his fellow Supervisor — Dan White, a former police officer and firefighter. Soon their chemistry ends in a cold fight, threatening the political career of Milk. Will Milk triumphs in his goal?
