Boston Marathon RESULTS!

Mr. Eric Mangeh Mbacah (age 24) completed the Boston Marathon in 2:25:51 taking 32nd place overall, 30th place for his gender, and 25th place for his division. He averaged 5:34 per mile.

Mr. Justilin Foimi (age 23) completed the Boston Marathon in 2:27:58 taking 39th place overall, 36th place for his gender, and 29th place for his division. He averaged 5:39 per mile.

Miss. Immaculate Wirngo (age 23) completed the Boston Marathon in 2:58:47 taking 1059th place overall, 42nd place for her gender, and 37th place for her division. She averaged 6:49 per mile.

Mr. Januarius Bongkiyung (age 35) completed the Boston Marathon in 2:53:26 taking 598th place overall, 576th place for his gender, and 442th place for his division. He averaged 6:37 per mile.

There were 25283 runners in total who competed in the race: 14844 male and 10439 female.

Boston Marathon Preparation

The 2008 and 112th Boston Marathon will happen on April 21st, 2008 in the City of Boston, in the Common Wealth of Massachusetts, in the United States of America.

Boston is the mother of all marathons, the marathon of marathons. This is where the cream of the crops come to show case their talents. Competing in Boston is the dream of world class marathoners.

On April 21st, 2008 four athletes from MilanoKumbo Sports Academy Kumbo (Wirngo Immaculate Tari, Bongkiyung Januarius, Mbacha Eric Mangeh, Foimi Justilin ), Cameroon will compete in Boston alongside the world’s best marathoners. That in of itself is a great achievement. MilanoKumbo Sports Academy Kumbo will be the first in the history of Cameroon to participate in the Boston Marathon. On April 21st 2008, the eyes of the world will be fixed on Boston and the Flag of Cameroon will be flying high on the shoulders of MilanoKumbo Sports Academy Kumbo in Boston .

On April 21st 2008, the temperature could suddenly plunge to 20 degrees below zero, or unusually hot, or it could be snowing or raining. However, when it is all said and done a MilanoKumbo Sports Academy athlete will be standing on the podium receiving first overall prize and another athlete will be standing on same podium receiving first prize in the female category.

Boston may not have the lushes, space, spoils and support network as we have in Dallas Texas. In fact logistics in Boston without an event is quite challenging in itself let alone the days leading to, during and immediately after the marathon. Never-the-less the same team work we have experienced leading up to this point should equally equip us overcome Boston .

This February MilanoKumbo Sports Academy will once again be breaking and creating records at the Mount Cameroon Race in Buea coming up on the 18th of February 2008. Thus they will be participating with 45 athletes for 15 trophies and targeting to take all for Bui Division. Mount Cameroon Race of Hope is the greatest athletics event in Cameroon and the roughest and most challenging mountain race in the world.That occasion will serve as a well deserved sending off party for MilanoKumbo Sports Academy to the Boston Marathon.

Milano Athletes Return from Dallas

Dear All,
It is with profound joy that we wish to inform all of you that we arrived home safely last night despite the tedious nature of the trip. We missed our flight in Paris due to bad whether at the Chicago O'hare airport, thus spent a night on the cold tiles of the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

We were warmly received home by all MilanoKumbo Sports Academy athletes, staff, and the entire Kumbo population which drove them in a convoy to the Academy's head office.

May we use this opportunity to thank in a very special way American Embassy for the visas, the Honourable Ministerof Sport and Physical Education for the fascilitation documents, the Himalayan Institute for the financial assistance, Dr Gwen Shang and Mr Geoffery Mbaku for the care given these athletes in the USA, Ransom Hare Blair Lewis for Amadou Gallo for the wonderful treat in Dallas, Nso Sons and Daughters both at home and in the diaspora, the Wimbum community in Dallas and everyone who supported this trip financially, morally and materially.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and Prosperous New Year 2008

Dallas Results

It was cold. No, it was really cold!!!

For those who could make it, you will testify that it was a great race and Cameroon was represented well.

Despite the biting cold, it was a pleasure to watch the race and with pride see our fellow Cameroonians cheer with flags as our brothers came through the final line.

Both of them have succeeded to qualify for the 2008 Boston Marathon. Although the Kenyans led the race as expected, Eric and Justilin came through as follows:

1. Eric Mbacha 2:35 minutes 14th place overall. Qualifies for Boston 2008

2. Foimi Justilin 2:48 minutes 40th place overall qualifies for Boston .

Their proud sponsor representing MilanoKumbo Sports Academy was there at hand as the crowd cheered with some Americans taking Flags and supporting the country.

Thanks to all who could make it.

Thanks especially to the WIMBUM group which was not only well represented but hosted a small reception immediately after the event. The athletes and supporters were treated to some good food, drinks and company.

A cash donation and several other items including but not limited to soccer balls and pumps were also given to the athletes in appreciation of their efforts by the WIMBUM group.

Congrats to the athletes and MilanoKumbo Sports Academy for making us in Dallas proud to fly and see our flag on TV down town.

Milano Athletes arrive in Dallas

Dear All,

Greetings from down town Dallas.
Just to inform you that the Milano Kumbo athletes and officials arrived safely in Dallas at about 3:30PM
These athletes are Foi,i Justilin and Mbaca Eric Mangeh.

Unfortulately Wirngo Ntangrin Kasimo who was suppose to be part of the delegation got injured participating at the Obudu ranch International Marathon on the 24th of Nov 2007.Lailam Edward Kongnyuy who is the technical director /coach did not join the group because he is observing this athlete with the general medical team hoping the athlete recoveres enough so both of them can make it to Dallas .

Thus the delegation in Dallas are the two athletes and two officials Roland Mbenkum Kiven and Njodzeka Divine Mdzela .

We wish you all the best as we await for the d-day.
