I can speak from experience when I say that I was overwhelmed at the thought of having to choose what size I wanted to be after my Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation with Dr. John Millard. Dr. Millard and his staff were amazingly helpful in educating  me to make my choice on breast implant size. During my consultation they gave me rice bags to take home and try on and wear around the house. Rice bags form to the breast really well and give a realistic idea of what a particular implant size will look and feel like. We also took picturesof my breasts and using a computer program- we were able to simulate in 3D what different implant sizes would like like on my body. I was also given instructions to search the Internet for pictures of breasts that I might like to have. Dr. Millard can then look at my breasts, and then look at the pictures of breasts that I found on the Internet, and help me choose the right implant size for me.

I had my surgery in April, and I can’t begin to desccibe how pleased I am with my results! Dr. Millard is an incredible Plastic Surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a Plastic Surgeon who will get them an Outstanding result.

Dr. Millard showcased a 44 year old female patient who had Vaser Hi Def Liposuction to her abdomen and fat transfer to her breasts. Her results are amazing! The patient worked out daily and watch what she ate, but like most of us, had fat in areas that just wouldn’t go away with regular exercccise and a healthy diet. Genetics play a big role in where we have stubborn fat deposits. That’s where Vaser Hi Def Liposuction comes in. ]]> http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/10/vaser-hi-def-and-fat-transfer-to-the-breast/feed/ 0 Plastic Surgery and Scarring http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/10/plastic-surgery-and-scarring/ http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/10/plastic-surgery-and-scarring/#comments Thu, 01 Oct 2009 17:08:34 +0000 Dr. John Millard http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/?p=261 When thinking about cosmetic surgery, one must consider a scar in order to complete the procedure.  You can have the procedure, but will have a scar to show for it.  In most cases, scars are placed in less noticeable places such as the belly button, under the breasts, hidden beneath underwear and/or in the arm pits.  The scars will appear red and raised after surgery, but with time, they should lighten in color and flatten out.  Some skin types, particularly Asian, have more difficulty in post-operative healing of the scars.  They may keloid (be raised above the skin) and appear darker.  It is important not to expose your scars to the sun for a minimum of 6-12 months to keep the scars from hyper pigmenting.  Sunscreen is always a good scar protector.  The most important thing to remember when considering cosmetic surgery, is scars will typically fade but they will not disappear completely.

]]> http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/10/plastic-surgery-and-scarring/feed/ 0 Fat Transfer to the Breast! http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/09/fat-transfer-to-the-breast/ http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/09/fat-transfer-to-the-breast/#comments Thu, 24 Sep 2009 16:49:00 +0000 Dr. John Millard http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/?p=300 Finally, we have the technology to transfer fat from out “problem” areas to our breasts!  Something us women have been waiting for, years.  We used to joke about it, asking why can’t we take fat from our love handles and transfer it up here, to our breasts?  It’s a fairly new technique in which we are still perfecting.  Dr. Millard injects fat, more than necessary, into the breasts because not all of the fat will “take”.  Typically, your breasts would be taped after surgery for a couple of weeks and then into a support bra for a few months.  It is important to keep the newly planted fat as still as possible for about three months.  Hence the reason you’ll wear a sport bra for so long.

This technique allows women to have fuller breasts without having implants.  Although, the gel implants are FDA approved and are said to be safe, some women simply prefer not to have a foreign body for breast enlargement.

]]> http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/09/vaser-hi-def-training/feed/ 0 Tummy Tuck http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/09/tummy-tuck/ http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/2009/09/tummy-tuck/#comments Thu, 03 Sep 2009 18:04:07 +0000 Dr. John Millard http://www.millardplasticsurgeryblog.com/?p=295 Tummy tucks are one of the most profound surgeries.  It flattens the stomach in such a way that people feel dramatically different about their bodies, immediately!  Although it is a long recovery, each patient seems to be thrilled they did it.  The full recovery is approximately 6 weeks.  Patients tend walk slightly bent over for a couple of weeks, experience a little soreness in their backs and abdomen.  Dr. Millard pulls the abdominal muscle together in order to get rid of the diastasis (separation of the abdominal muscles likely due to pregnancies).  He also removes all excess skin from below the breast line down to the pubic area.  If a patient has stretch marks, it is not unusual for Dr. Millard to be able to move most of the stretch marks to the lower abdomen, if not completely remove them.  A post-operative tummy tuck patient is pleased when they can fit into smaller jeans, not have an overhang of excess, loose skin.  It’s quite impressive!
