Cosmetic surgery can usually be done by using dissolvable sutures. This is a nice way to create a less noticeable scar and keep from having to remove any stitches. One downfall of dissolvable sutures, is the fact that there is a possibility of the stitches “spitting out”. This means the stitch makes its way to the surface of your skin (at your incision) before your body absorbs it. This is actually not a bad thing as the stitch simply needs to be removed. If you have a spitting stitch, it means your healthy because your body heals faster than the stitch can be absorbed. Every now and then, a spitting stitch can become infected. Once it is pulled out, in most cases, you can continue to heal normally.

The Denver Post

Fat transfer is the process of having liposuction and then using that fat in other areas of the body, like the breast, the buttocks, or the hands. The ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) recently eased concerns that have been raised regarding transferring fat from another part of the body into the breasts. It was thought in the past that this would interfere with mammograms and the detection of abnormalities in the breasts. However, this is no longer the case and fat transfer is becoming a procedure that more and more patients, both male and female are asking for.

My girlfriend called me the other day asking whether our Plastic Surgery office offers Botox injections. A young looking 43, she feels she’s not a candidate for any facial Plastic Surgery procedure. But months of job seeking and interviewing after her husband and she reached the decision their household needed a second income, she has not been able to find steady employment. With years of experience on her resume as an account executive, she’s worried that she may be facing age discrimination in the hiring process. She wonders if the fine lines around her eyes and forehead may be more noticeable to the HR department than to herself. I told her about our special pricing on “Botox Fridays” and suggested she schedule an appointment. For a nominal amount of time and money, about a half-dozen small injections may help level the playing field for her.

Muffin tops. Love handles. Let them be gone!

With the Smartlipo LaserBody Sculpting procedure, patients of Denver Plastic Surgeon, Dr. John A. Millard, are seeing a faster recovery with less bruising, swelling, and down time than that seen with traditional liposuction.

Dr. John A. Millard, a leader in the field of liposuction and a national trainer of other physicians in state-of-the art liposuction procedures, was the first Plastic Surgeon in the Denver Metropolitan area to offer this minimally invasive procedure.

Smartlipo adds significant benefits and options for patients because the procedure is done in the doctor’s office, thus avoiding the time, risks, and expense of the operating room. As well, an added benefit of this procedure is skin tightening!

Plastic Surgery can be affordable. You can have the body you always wanted.

Why spend money on bathing suit cover-ups? Instead, spend your money on sun screen to protect your beautiful new body!

Dr. Millard’s practice consists of many out-of-town patients having liposuction. In many cases, our patients have to leave Denver with drains in. It is important to keep the drains in place long enough to prevent the risk of developing seromas. If we pull them too soon, there is an increased risk of seromas due to excess build up of fluid underneath the skin. Seromas are considered minor complications, but can be easily be taken care of with no long term complications. However, they tend to be a nuisance. If patients have to return home with drains, we simply have them see a physician in their area to pull them when it is time. There are still risks of developing seromas after the drains are pulled but the risk is much lower than if we remove them too soon.

My breast lift and breast augmentation with Dr. John Millard. I am now 5 weeks out from my surgery- my results are FANTASTIC- and looking back, the surgery was a breeze- nothing like I expected!

I will continue to tell my story of my breast augmentation and breast lift with Dr. John Millard…

After my surgery I went home and took pain pills as prescribed for about 5 days solid. To be honest I never felt any pain like I thought I would- but that very well could be from the fact that I took the pain pills continuously. I went off the pain pills a little earlier than Dr. Millard had suggested, because I wanted to get back into my normal routine as much as possible. Because of my breast lift, I wasn’t allowed to lift my daughter (25lbs0 for at least 4 weeks. That was the worst part of my surgery- because I had to hold myself back from doing it, because to be honest- I didn’t have any muscle pain like I thought I would, and I felt good enough to pick her up. Dr. Millard explained to me that there were inside stitches that needed 4 weeks to heal- and that was why I couldn’t lift more than a gallon jug of milk. I trust Dr. Millard, so I was diligent about following the rules for my aftercare. On about day 7 post op, my breasts began itching like crazy! It lasted for about 4 days and I took as much benadryl as allowed each day! I guess pain medications, and healing can cause itching like that. My sutures came out on day 10- and that was totally painless as well.

I am now 5 weeks out from my surgery- my results are FANTASTIC- and looking back, the surgery was a breeze- nothing like I expected! Dr. Millard did an amazig job of knowing what size would compliment my body and frame- and my breast lift makes all the difference.

The Doctors will be discussing Vaser Hi-Def Liposculpture of the Arms. Which is an amazing body sculpting technique to give definition and shape to the arms. And, as most of us who are over 30 know, youthful arms are SO important! Especially as we are entering tank top, bathing suit and sundress season!

If you have any questions about this procedure, or think you might be a candidate, please contact us at info@millardplasticsurgery.com or give us a call at 303-792-5665.

My experience having a Breast Lift and a Breast Augmentation with Dr. John Millard

It has now been 3 ½ weeks since my breast lift and breast augmentation surgery and I look and feel amazing! The surgery itself I would rate a 3 on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst). I was so surprised at how painless and easy it was! I arrived at the surgery center for my surgery at 1:00 and my surgery was scheduled for 2:30pm. The staff at Renewal Surgery Center was wonderful! They have all the latest equipment and are SO friendly. They put me to ease immediately and talked me through every step of the process. For me, I was really scared to get the IV put in my arm- but Ally, was very skilled in what she does, and it was painless on my part. After that, Dr. Millard went over the procedure with me again, verified some of my breast measurements and made sure I was comfortable and all of my questions were answered. Anesthesia then came in, and after that… all I remember is waking up to 2 wonderful recovery nurses! They asked me if I wanted to see my new breasts before they put me in a sports bra type of garment. I was hesitant, because I was afraid that I would look like Frankenstein- but to my surprise, they looked FANTASTIC! My breast have NEVER looked that good! Dr. Millard went with a 250cc implant for me, which with my breast lift, it looks very natural and it fits my body frame beautifully. I couldn’t be happier with my results! I went home that evening and was in no pain at all. I had my mom and sister take turns staying with me and helping me with my 18 month old toddler. To be continued…
