Eron was really excited about his first Atrium wedding in Shorewood! The space an awesome blend of an urban interior with exposed brick and wood floors and natural elements with their rooftop garden. Eron knew it would be what he hopes for in every wedding: a balance of beautiful, meaningful, and fun. He also knew this because The Atrium crew, as well as the bride and groom, are old friends of ours. When you get a group together that is made up of DJ’s and the Irish, you know it’s going to be a party with its heart on its sleeve.

The rooftop deck at The Atrium is a perfect place for a first look. The moment, emotional for both Devin and John, was soon celebrated by their awesome wedding party.

There’s something about Devin showing her dress to her grandma as she arrived at the church that felt like it had some history like this moment has been recurring in these two ladies’ lives since Devin was a child.

Devin was escorted down the aisle by both her father and her step-father while John and his father await them. There was a lot of love in this room.

John couldn’t resist a fist pump as he and Devin were introduced for the first time as a married couple. Who could blame him?

We love these creeping vines right outside North Shore Presbyterian Church!

The decor in The Atrium was a soft blend of pinks, purples, and whites. The uplighting can be customized to fit any color scheme to finish off the space.

A final word from Devin: “When the day came, we talked about how to stay present during our special day and we both felt like we were able to take in every moment to create lasting memories.”  That is great advice for any couple.

Lidia was particularly excited for Ann and Ron’s Renaissance Place 1451 wedding. This was a couple with perspective on life and a great joy for each other. Lidia knew this day would have all the elements we all love about weddings: classic style, genuine emotion, and trust in our process. What she could never have predicted are all the other factors that made Ann and Ron’s wedding their own: the amazing dancing, unparalleled energy, and the loving community that surrounds them.

It’s a fun challenge for us when we start our day at the salon and get to find creative ways to frame a bride’s details in that unique space. For Ann, all this occurred at ScottFree Salon in downtown Milwaukee. That is such an eclectic space that it is way more fun than a challenge for Lidia.

When a groom finds his bride a little later in life (as Ron self-identified), it can be that much more rewarding for him and all those that love him. The moment his parents walked him down the aisle to usher him into the next phase of life was especially sweet. They had been waiting for this day for a long time and could not have been happier for their son.

Ann and Ron were blessed by both sets of parents before their official first kiss as a married couple at their St. Hedwig’s Catholic church ceremony.

Ann and Ron could not resist dancing throughout the day. Some of this comes from their passion for movement and dance, but surely some of it comes from their entirely evident love for each other.

Dancing is a big part of Ann and Ron’s lives. Not only were they great dancers, but when Ron took the floor with his mom for the mother-son dance, it was clear where his skills originated and were honed. This dancing thing is multi-generational in his family!

Ashley and Patrick had a healthy approach to planning their Milwaukee Public Museum wedding. Ashley puts it this way: “Our motto was KISS (keep it simple stupid). I didn’t stress over small things that really didn’t have a huge impact (like table numbers). Focus on the things people will remember and make sure those are awesome!” Sound advice for anyone who wants to maintain the joy of a wedding while planning it and avoid the daunting nature of such a large task.

A Milwaukee Public Museum wedding offers so many unique opportunities that most venues couldn’t imagine. There’s an amazing array of attractions, from dinosaurs to the Arctic and they have an old-timey theater where home movies can be shown. Ashley and Patrick incorporated the sweet shop in Streets of Old Milwaukee into their wedding favors by giving their guests paper bags with vouchers to pick out their own array of penny candy from the days of yore.

“We loved our Polaroid guest book. We got such fun photos with all of our guests and have a cute memory book from our special day! The candy store was also a big hit and using the bags as name cards helped keep our theme.”

“We had the best vendors, but I have to give a shout out to Peggy Carollo at Simma’s. They decorated our cake beautifully and it tasted fantastic!”

We are always looking for couples for whose top priority is their photos and their experience. When those two concepts top the list throughout the planning process, we find we are a great fit for them. All the other aspects of our couples’ plans (venue, budget, size of the guest list, formality…) can span a pretty huge range. For Davita and Adam, they were being really conscientious about keeping their budget in line with their lifestyle. Even when it came to the photos (which were supremely important to them), they had their self-disciplined limits. We were thrilled that they saw enough value in our work and the way we take care of clients to invest their meaningful funds with us.

“Our wedding was exactly what we wanted and we figured out how we could do it without spending more money than we could handle. I think the best tip I have for couples is to think about what they want, where that want comes from, and to see if it comes from them or from some outside force. If that want doesn’t come from within you, then it’s not worth it. The pressures and expectations that come with wedding planning can shape a wedding, try really hard to separate out those voices. Also, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a magical wedding,” explained Davita.

A lot of this day was either DIY or supported by friends and guests offering their talents. At the bottom of this post is a list of the professional vendors involved in the day. Davita had some special thoughts to share about the pros and everyone else’s contributions.

“Having an Urban Ecology Center wedding was amazing. The staff works so hard and they have a vast knowledge that they can share with you about caterers, photographers, and more! August Sweets baked all of our mini pies and tarts. Angela is an amazing baker and even created gluten-free options! Some kudos go to Ball-n-Biscuit for providing the amazing food. They created vegan and gluten-free options that tasted wonderful. The flowers to start. While they were beautiful, they were extra special because our officiant and one of our best friends, Joe Riggenbach did all the flowers, from buying to arranging. He was wonderful! Another detail that was a favorite of ours was breaking the party up into two. Having the ceremony on Friday with just our family and really close friends allowed us to really enjoy and take in everything. Then on Sunday, we could party with everyone and not worry about missing anything! Our rings are made of wood from Simply Wooden Rings in Chicago. We got to visit the studio and pick out the wood we wanted to be used. The craftsman was helpful and was able to create rings that matched our personalities. Lastly, I think our all-time favorite detail was that my godsister Amanda Greenhart made both my wedding dress and Adam’s vest. Having handmade garments that are so beautiful and just what we wanted, brought love and meaning to what we were wearing. I don’t know if I would have felt as comfortable, confident, or as in love with my dress had it not been hand sewn by Amanda.”

The story of Brianna and Shane’s War Memorial wedding is the story of the photographer and the fireman. It’s always a special honor when a fellow photographer gets in touch about her wedding. Knowing they are seeing our work through a trained eye adds a level of cache to their enthusiastic excitement to bring us on board to frame their memories. We have had a few fireman grooms over the years too and they are always very genuinely grounded people – that also know how to party. They are the epitome of live hard play hard and that is a great combination as one of our subjects.

These eyes stopped us in our tracks when we saw this image.

You have to love a couple that dances their way down the aisle. The joy they were feeling was contagious and truly affected everyone that came to help them celebrate.

Being a fireman has perks. It’s always a question as to whether a truck will be available on a wedding day (after all, someone may really need it!), but this one arrived just in time.

Can you feel the pride in this look Brianna and Shane are giving each other?

One very special component to their War Memorial wedding was that Shane’s sons were his Best Men. The speech one of them gave was the emotional highlight of the day and moved Shane to both laughter and tears. It’s these moments that are so personally significant that we live for.

Shane and his mom shared a very special dance. Playing in the background was a touching slideshow for his dad who passed away years ago. It was the perfect tribute to a very special man.

In addition to an amazing display of artistry, the people that came together to support Elizabeth and Brad were really special. This was truly a kind and gracious group that we were honored to spend a couple days with. To see what preceded this amazing day, check out the story of their rehearsal dinner the night before!

Elizabeth spent the morning with her inner circle at her parent’s beautiful downtown condo. Not only was it a perfect space to accommodate this fun group it was also an emotionally significant setting for everyone.

Cafe Benelux has a been a wedding morning brunch staple for groomsmen for years. Weddings are a long day so having a hearty meal to start the day is always a good idea as it may be hours before there is another opportunity to eat.

The guys all got ready at The Iron Horse Hotel which had the perfect vibe for Brad and his crew: old-school with a touch of style. We gathered in the bar to get all the guys together and popped outside for a few smaller groupings. One of the reasons we love The Iron Horse is the variety of settings they have to choose from for photos.

This series of photos is one of our favorites we’ve seen in a while. Brad is so happy to be married to Elizabeth and it was entirely obvious. As soon as his ring was on his finger, he couldn’t resist giving her the thumbs up. As a photographer, it’s these little moments that we always have our eyes open to.

This shady nook was the perfect spot for some beautiful photos of Brad and Elizabeth. Of course, it’s also the perfect breeding ground for mosquitos, which became very obvious very quickly. So we made some art and hightailed it out of there. Luckily, one of the bridesmaids had cover-up with her and was able to give Brad a quick touch up and no one was the wiser!

We just barely caught the sunset light on the bridge to the Milwaukee Art Museum before it went away for the day.

Whenever we are involved with a Dynamic Events wedding, we know a few things: it will be an unforgettable experience, every detail will be tended to, and the bride and groom will be thrilled with the results. Elizabeth and Brad’s wedding weekend was no exception. The 1.8 million crystals used to make the Milwaukee Art Museum even more magical than it usually is guaranteed that. Yes, 1.8 million crystals.

Yes, 1.8 million crystals.

Elizabeth can say it better than we ever could. “Working with David and his team was one of the best parts of the planning process. Not only did it make planning stress-free and fun, but he also is an idea machine! He suggested things we hadn’t even thought possible and truly created our fairytale wedding. We are forever grateful to him.” Indeed, the entire team at Dynamic Events by David Caruso are a dream to work with, from a bride’s perspective as well as a fellow vendor. Not only do they prioritize the couple, family, and guests experience, they assemble a team of vendors that do the same.

Elizabeth and Brad also got around in style with this vintage car!

The Milwaukee Art Museum has never seen such opulence! The team of vendors that Dyanmic Events by David Caruso put together strung 1.8 million crystals on a structure set into Windover Hall to transform it into the “Chandelier Ballroom”!

Here are Elizabeth’s words about her amazing flowers: “We have worked with Gregory for many years, and he never disappoints. The flowers were one of the most important aspects of the day for us, and we had a very specific vision. Gregory went above and beyond this vision and made the flowers a primary focal point of the day, just how we wanted it!”

Even the details about how the cake was going to be displayed was well thought out. The Cake Lady created a 6-tiered cake that is on a table suspended from the ceiling with a chandelier underneath! Surrounded by white blooms, this cake was one-of-a-kind!

It’s n0t often we get to come to the rehearsal and dinner the night before a wedding, but it is always a treat when we do. Not only do we get a preview of exactly how the ceremony will go down (and sometimes even offer our advice and guidance), but we also get a chance to meet all the people closest to the bride and groom. With Elizabeth and Brad, that meant meeting their amazing families and sizable wedding party. There is nothing like sharing an experience with people to establish a wonderfully comfortable relationship.

The wedding rehearsal is the beginning of a wedding weekend and result of months of anticipation. The excitement this close to the wedding is palpable and we love being around that energy and documenting it. There are often stories that come from the rehearsal experience that come up the next day at the wedding.

This stolen moment between Elizabeth and Brad as they anticipated getting married the next day was so sweet!

We had an amazing meal at Hinterland in the Third Ward. We found out shortly after this evening that this location had closed. We were grateful to have one more experience there while we still could. Now you will have to go to Green Bay to experience their wonderful food, but it would be worth it!

Because the guest list at the rehearsal dinner is made up of those closest to the bride and groom, the toasts tend to be a bit more personal and sometimes more emotional. Parents who have been waiting a lifetime to see their kids fall in love and take this step tend to express those feelings of pride and love and it is a really special experience.

Cheryle and Rick’s Shullys wedding was like a cocktail party where a wedding broke out in the middle of it. Those are our favorite kinds of weddings as they are all about maximizing the fun and not too worried about the formality of everything. Cheryle and Rick are the couple that chuckles at the beginning and end of every phrase. They were adamant that this was just a fancy excuse to buy their friends drinks for an evening.  It just so happened they’d be getting married at some point, too.

Of course when the date drew closer, some very clever ideas started to hatch about ways to make the day special. The best example was Cheryle entering the ceremony from a surprise location that was different from everyone else. That was a fun logistical challenge for us. But with some discussion and ideas, we came up with a plan to make it all work.

No matter how laid back and non-traditional a couple may be, there’s no disguising the look of love that overtakes a couple when they are pledging themselves to each other in front of everyone they love. It’s what we love about this so much. Everyone makes myriad choices that lead them to this moment in time when all the chips are on the table.

We love Shully’s for so many reasons. It is a family run company that takes care of their couples like they are part of their own family. It’s located in the quaintest part of Thiensville and it’s surrounded by beautiful park-like grounds.
