Exciting news!!! Mimosa Lane has a new website at a new address!!! I hope you will come and check it out. I promise it is prettier, more informative, more fun and I think more practical. Let's just say that overall it is more functional as well. It is kind of a more grown-up version of this current blog. Come visit and let me know your thoughts!!!

I truly appreciate all the support you have given me in these last few years. I really enjoy keeping you all up-to-date on interior design trends, cool fashion ideas and unique and original finds that can make your life a little more interesting. I realize that as I have been getting busier and busier throughout the years I am blogging less than I did a few years back, but I'm hoping to find a more disciplined way back into it. And I really think this new blog will keep me motivated. I have so many new things I want to share with you! But for now let me share with you a few things about the blog. The most important thing- I NEED YOU TO SUBSCRIBE!!! because I was unable to transfer my subscribers (a complete tragedy I know! I'm still crying about it everyday.) Here is how. Take a look-

When you visit the new blog you will notice a subscribe option at the top right-hand corner. It has a drop down menu so you can subscribe via email or bloglovin, but I know most of you prefer email. So, choose this option. Enter your email when prompted and then confirm subscription as a final step. And that's it!!! This will ensure that you get an email with any posts on the blog so you never miss a beat.

This redesign was not an easy process! There are many things I'm still working out, aside from the subscriber tragedy, all the posts transferred in broken sentences and paragraphs, which means I have to go back, one by one and fix them. Please bear with me while I sort thru them. Booooooo!!!!! But I know it will all be worth it in the end. So please (I'm really begging) subscribe to the new and improved Mimosa Lane. I promise it is quick and easy.

With the start of the school year getting closer I find myself wanting to hold on to the magic of summer. I sometimes log-on to Zillow to stalk beautiful homes for sale in chic beachy places, like the Hamptons for example. It really is the perfect pastime. So, I was delighted to learn about the new and beautiful Out East coffee table book filled with some of the most beautiful houses and gardens of the Hamptons. This book is the perfect antidote to the end of summer blues. Everything and anything from House of Hackney, a British brand, is pure design bliss. They marry traditional designs with modern colors and themes making their products- like wallpaper, fabrics, tabletop items and even clothing- stand out with elegance. I just love the whimsical and sassy patterns that make their pieces so interesting and original.

House of Hackney, the perfect mix between fashion and interiors, was founded in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Javvy Royle and Frieda Gormley. For them, it is not only about a beautiful and daring product but also about utilizing the great tradition of British print houses. They source the best manufacturers in the UK supporting local employment and protecting these age-old industries that might otherwise seize to exist. Let me show you what I'm talking about-

Fabulous right? I have been really wanting to have a matchy matchy room somewhere in my house and some of these fabrics and wallpapers would be ideal for this kind of a project. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Happy Summer!! I'm just quickly popping in to share my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which runs thru August 6th (prices go up on Aug. 7th!). There are some great basic pieces at great prices. I have not yet downloaded photos from our trip but promise to share soon. in the meantime-

Accessories || I love Oscar de la Renta earrings and have rarely seen them on sale. In love with these and these.

Shoes || These slip-on sneakers are the most comfortable ever and just so practical, these booties are perfect for everyday fall wear, and these flats are so fun.

Blazers and Coats ||. This Veronica Beard blazer is super chic (and this navy velvet blazer is perfect for night's out and this black coat is a perfect investment piece.

Tops || this beautiful white blouse is simple and elegant and will probably stay in your closet for years to come. An instant classic. This white ruffle top is so cute (and only $39!), this blue pijama shirt with red piping is everything. If you like fun sleeves, this blue double sleeve shirt (and it's only $58) goes with everything and this one with bows (only $49) is feminine and fun.

Pants || I'm totally into cropped trousers. I love them with a chic heel. I think these black ones are perfection and these grey ones are perfect for fall. As for jeans....there are quite a few but these are my favorites, cropped and flared, high waist boot cut, high waist skinny, and a cropped skinny. Wow jeans have gotten complex!

Other || This skirt is another instant classic you will wear well into the future, this sweater is the coziest thing in the world, and this sweater dress is comfortable and chic.

Currently Coveting || Pink and Red

Happy Sunday friends. We are loving the sweet pinks of warm weather combined with some sassy reds for that perfect punchy combination.

Fun floaties are a must for the infinite amount of pool days all summer long. This pink and yellow one is simple and just adorable. The cherries in this clutch just top it with that 'WOW' factor. Pink sunglasses makes life prettier ( La Vie en Rose). Earrings are my thing for sure and I just fell in love with these three options- pink pearl earrings, tassel earrings and these pink and blue earrings. Also pearls and slides are meant to go together. Add some pink and you have the perfect combination- these and these are just precious. Framed Chinoiserie panels are an easy way to elevate a room. Use them as bedside decor (one on each side of the bed) or top of a sofa for instant elegance (see here for a more ideas). Colorful cocktail napkins are fun for that rose glass in the evening by the pool. I have some small glass vases that I use so often for flower arrangements. They are similar to these and just can't tell you how practical they are. And this striped lamp is just exciting.

Artist Spotlight || Paige Gemmel

You all know I love discovering new artists. Well I have been in love with Paige Gemmel's colorful and chic original and prints for a few years. She combines Chinoiserie and Palm Beach Chic in the most perfect way. This piece above that she made for Paige Minear's One Room Challenge is fabulous. She sells her work through her etsy store Pink Lion Dog where she has amazing prints, but the originals are my favorite (below)-

Letterboards

Letterboards are all the rage. Fill them with uplifting quotes, sassy remarks, dream reminders or even with just your to-do list and you will be on trend. Old school is now super cool. Go figure! Not only are they great for instagram photos or your bar cart but they could make your kitchen or office a little more fun as well. If you are in the market for one I recommend either of these two companies- Letterfolk, Three Potato Four. Also, this cute pink board is pretty sweet. I hope you enjoy these-

I do love On the Road by Kerouac. These also make great gifts for those tweens and teens who have everything. Letterboards are a fun, creative outlet. I'm really wanting one for our kitchen actually.

Summer is in full swing around here. The pool is filled with cute little mermaids all day, popsicles abound and we keep running out of watermelons and cherries. I would not change a thing!

Dying over this set of six white lacquer rattan chairs with Robert Allen malachite fabric. This pretty blue color block dress is only $88! I love the cut and color. This accent chair is the prettiest, most feminine piece! I'm in just in love with the style, materials and color. This pretty floral art piece by Dawn Wolfe is beautiful. Her montage of plants, flowers, leaves, and bugs is embellished with three-dimensional paper butterflies and flowers that add contrast and depth. Each piece is signed and dated by the artist as they are limited edition. It comes under glass a custom shadowbox frame. Yes please! and it is oh so perfect for a young lady's room. This cute set of tropical cocktail napkins is under $9 for a set of 4 and this wine guide aside from being coffee table worthy is a fun hostess gift (or keep it for yourself).

|| Ever since I went to The Ranch last August I have been quite obsessed with hiking and was intrigued about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro since it sounds like its very doable for a non-mountaineer ( a hike of 8 days and about 30 miles). Epic Private Journeys seem to be the group you want to do it with.

Happy Friday! I was so impatient for this weekend to arrive. It will be filled with celebrations and lots of champagne! I'm ready. To send you off for the weekend here are a few links starting with this interesting home. I just loved so many of the details.

|| Loved this ceiling canopy DIY by The Hunted Interior. I remember falling in love with this idea some year's ago when I first saw it on Domino and am happy to now have a tutorial for it. This is a great inexpensive way to get the four poster bed look.

|| Cute steals for under $100- This blue and white striped shirt is a no-brainer at $44. This ethnic white and red dress for $43. And this dress with that Mexican vibe for only $23!! So cute! It is perfect to throw on for a day at the beach.

|| An easy and light dessert that is perfect for summer. I'm also curious about these meatballs.

Currently Coveting || Colorful Things

My husband's big birthday is coming up so we are gearing up for a few days of special celebrations. I'm just thrilled it's Thursday and that the weekend is almost here. I have some colorful finds today now that the days are definitely warmer.

This is the cutest straw hat ever with the adorable hanging fruit. If you like to be original this hat is for you. I'm #obsessed with these adorable gem toothpicks. They are chic, different and would make a perfect present. This colorful rainbow bag is adorable (and expensive I know) but just so fun and festive. These coral napkin rings would elevate any outdoor tablesetting. And, most importantly, they are only $25 for a set of four. The cute cocktail napkins are ideal. I'm dreaming about these Oscar de la Renta earrings. The color combinations is one of my favorites. The striped dress is pretty and easy to wear and if you have any summer weddings this beautiful dress is on major sale. I'm currently looking for a one piece swimsuit and just love these colors and the cut.

ORC Favorites || Spring 2017

Linda's fabulous #OneRoomChallenge Spring reveals occurred last week, and they were so fun!! I am highlighting my favorites from the 20 blogger projects and will share some of my favorites from the guest participants next week. I love looking through these because they are huge idea generators for me. I'm honestly so inspired by the different projects and just enjoy seeing the creativity that goes into each and every detail. First off, I really loved this living room by Sketch42. I'm a huge fan of folding screens and the use of this one is just perfection in my book. -

Of course another favorite is Christine Dovey's basement remodel. Her art, lighting, fabric and furniture choices are exciting and unexpected. This is what I love about her. She always surprises us. And of course the facts that she used my photograph was very humbling and exciting.

Then we have an amazing kitchen transformation by the talented Erin Williamson. The black, wood and white palette is modern and edgy.

The Suburban B's tranformation of a girl bedroom and bathroom is fresh and fun. I do love purple and green together. Lucky girl!

House of Brinson's guest bedroom blew me away. It is elegant, moody and romantic. I think you will be intrigued by this one.

I loved this bold wall color by Old Home Love. I loved the lighting and fabric choices and really the colors work so beautifully together. Chic and feminine!

The Pink Pagoda's magnificent living room and dining room reveal was one of my all time favorites. I adore this project so much. It is fresh and vibrant and just simply beautiful. I love green in interior design and Jennifer just knocked it out of the ballpark combining it so beautifully with the blues and whites. You need to see all of it here. And all this blue and white goodness......is heaven in my book!

Book Suggestions and Friday Links

I am devouring books lately. As my baby reads more and more I am doing the same. We cozy up in the sofa, husband included, and we each read our books. It is our latest evening ritual. I then pass the good ones to my mom to read, which makes it fun because we can then discuss them. My daughter has even asked me to read some of her favorites, which I have. And I'm just thrilled that kids' literature is so exciting nowadays. There is such a great variety of topics. I could do a book post on her favorites book as well (she is 9 so if you need recommendations for that age group I have plenty!) In any case, here are a few of my latest favorites (there have been quite a few duds too, which I immediately stop reading. Life is too short and there are too many great books out there). Here they are (bottom to top)-

Homegoing || This was fabulous! I would say my favorite from the bunch. My good friend and bibliophile recommended this one so I knew it had to be good. It follows the parallel stories of two sisters in Africa from different villages and their descendants through eight generations. One was married to an Englishman and lived in a palace while the other one was sold into slavery and was imprisoned in the same palace's dungeon below. The author, Yaa Gyasi, beautifully and dramatically explores the effects of slavery that we can still find in this nation today.

The Elegance of the Hedgehog || A real treasure!! It is beautifully written, with special erudite and endearing characters. The author which seemed part poet to me is also a philosophy professor so she weaves in thoughts on beauty and philosophy throughout. It is about what everyone thinks is a typical concierge in a high class Parisian building. But she is not typical at all, but an autodidact that loves to read and knows all about art, history, philosophy, music, but nobody suspects any of this.....In this building also lives a 12 year-old girl who wants to commit suicide. In then moves a Japanese man that touches both their lives. This one was a huge bestseller in Europe and I think it begins to make its rounds here. I highly recommend it.

The Mountain Story || An exciting novel about a young man who goes up a mountain to commit suicide but has to delay his end as finds himself helping some lost women in the trails. After some missteps they are all stranded together in the wilderness and they have to rely on each other for survival. They live through dramatic and scary situations which forces them to form amazing bonds. This was a page turner. The story line was well crafted and the characters are well developed.

Simply South of Simple || My sweet and very talented friend Kristy Woodson Harvey (also a blogger! check out her beautiful blog she co-writes with her mom) who is being dubbed a "major voice in Southern fiction" is the author of this beautiful novel of the journey of three sisters and their mother. Kristy explores family bonds and how they can be put to the test as a a secret from their past that has the potential to tear them apart surfaces. This is Kristy's third book and I am just so amazed at her imagination that conjures up such beautiful stories and heart-felt stories. I can envision this one becoming a movie and having maybe Julia Roberts play the mom?

A Wife's Tale || I enjoyed the Mountain Story so much that my friend recommended another novel by the same author. Lori Lansens. In this story a woman wakes up on her 25th anniversary to find that her husband never arrived. This once slim woman who now has gained plenty of weight begins in a journey of adventure as she tries to find her husband, but it seems she is finding herself. I'm not done reading this one yet, but Lori does a fabulous job with character development. I will tell you more when I finish it, which I hope will be this weekend!

It's reveal day for The One Room Challenge!! Oh you know, just one of the funnest days in blogland if you like interior design. If you don't know about I'm talking about, here is the rundown- Linda from Calling it Home began this challenge some years ago where she invites 20 interior design bloggers to transform a room in 6 weeks and report about their progress every Wednesday and today is the 6th week in this season, aka reveal day. I have participated in the One Room Challenge a few times (as an invited participant for the family room and my closet, and as a linker for my daughter's room and the mudroom ). This time around I'm beyond excited because Christine Dovey, one of my all time favorite interior designers used one of my prints from my 'Everyday Faces' series for her project!! She used it in her playroom and I can't wait to show you what it looks like. Take a look-

It is beyond exciting to know this piece hangs in Christine's spectacular home and in such a beautifully designed and whimsical space. This specific piece is 30x40 and is the exact size I envisioned for my series. My vision was to create large format playful pieces that would add an edge to more classical interiors. These emoji lips is one of about 7 photographs in this series which I hope to share with you in the coming weeks. I am currently printing and then will frame and style some of them so you get a sense for what they could look like in a room. The whole process of coming up with the concept, using models and a make-up artist and renting a studio was so fun. The creativity involved in all of it is what I love the most. After weeks and weeks of preparation it is humbling to see it start taking shape.

This series explores the art of daily personal ornamentation in today's society as we get more and more used to seeing ourselves through filters (like snapchat) and other rose-colored lenses. We are seeing more and more people wear faux eye lashes, hair extensions, tattoos are more and more prominent...piercings.....so what is next? We are no longer just wearing make-up, what will we be wearing next to express ourselves?

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS

Mother's Day is around the corner! I love spending it together with my loves while I let them pamper me. I love baking something special with my baby and dressing up like triplets alongside my mom and baby. We have blue and white striped shirts this year. Nothing like three generations of blue and white stripes, am I right? Here are a few present ideas for your sweet and special mama who sacrifices so much for you-

I recently visited the Edie Parker store in NYC and fell in love with all their new home pieces, specifically these cocktail napkins and the key charms were SO adorable!! My favorite was the cherry one. I bet your mom will think it is adorable too! This flowers coffee table book has beautiful photographs. It chronicles the evolution of floral design and it features images by more than 40 contemporary artists. It will serve as the perfect inspiration. This pink spiked water bottle is fun and fashion forward. Spikes are STILL all the rage. With it she will be the chic mom on the go with this fab water bottle. I'm totally intrigued by this new liquid lipstick mechanism. Plus the color is divine! Ok, these orange fringed slippers are aaahhhhhmazing! I first saw them over at Paige Minear's instagram (which is #MustFollow for sure). The slippers have a lot of personality and they come in different colors if orange is a little too bold for her (like blue and white). Everyone needs a cute little box for their vanity or as decor atop a console. These pink and red mating bird earrings designed by a mother-duo (how perfect for Mother's Day!) are STUNNING and so playful and different! Yes, they are an investment but they are special comprised of a medley of coral, chalcedony, agate and bone flowers, a bird encircle by an 18-karat gold vermeil frame, and a suspended pearl. They are WOW material for sure. This Best Mom Ever sign will make her giggle and is the perfect reminder of how wonderful she is everyday. These statement making white round earrings are ideal for summer as she can dress them up or down. And they are handmade and super light weight (read they are very comfortable to wear). And finally for that mom that loves to indulge in all things bath with magnificent scents this set of soaps is the answer. Even if she doesn't open the soaps just the packaging of these is a present in itself.

Presents are nice, but kisses and hugs are all she really wants anyway! So make it special for her.

I know I have been MIA but life has been crazy. Between my personal projects (I hope to share a bit about some of them soon), commitments to my daughter's school (those have been big ones this year!) and life in general, I have not had much time for blogging. But I have been missing it and you so much! I hope you forgive me. But please, please don't forget about me!!! A few pretty things to peruse over the weekend-

This pretty black and white h and-carved bone inlay chair is stylish and captivating. I'm always using the fingers crossed emoji, it would be fun to have a brass fingers crossed accent in my family room. Nothing like a real brass emoji you can touch and feel! These woven leather white shoes are a fun twist on a classic. It's kind of like a chair for your feet! This outdoor striped umbrella is too much chicness for me! I would die if I had this is my yard. My friend Elizabeth just got one for her patio and she did a great post on different sources if you are looking into buying one this spring. I have a Star Mela clutch and just adore it. I fell in love with this new beaded clutch. I'm still obsessed with this round straw tote. I love one shoulder suits, but think they would be uncomfortable to wear in a beach day if you have active kids that require swimming and running around....but I would forgo being practical for this polka dot swimsuit because it is just so beautiful!!!! I know you are probably tired of me linking to gold etageres, but I just adore them and can't help myself each I see one I want one of you to get one since I don't have any space here! This one is so cool. Oh and this white top is now on sale for ($44!!!!!!) and they have it in red, black and white!! RUN and get it here. I think this is a great piece for any warm weather event....super chic, easy but highly dramatic. It's a steal! I think I need it in black to pair with black pants for dinners and cocktails in the fall.

Happy Easter and Passover! I can't believe it just snuck up on me like this. I'm short on words with this crazy week coming to an end, but never on fresh ideas for you. Today's theme- Color!

This happy bucket bag will be a welcome change from your regular black or brown everyday bag. You would be surprised how well it goes with everything (oh and the price is nice too!). Fornasetti candles are the prettiest accent. What a treasure! Pink sunglasses because everything looks better thru rose colored glasses, yes? I have always been a lover of pearls for anything and everything (remember this DIY?) well, I'm crazy about these neutral and pearl sandals. I can see myself wearing these all summer (and through fall!). This hexagonal floral tray is so colorful and pretty. Imagine some cookies served here, or use it as decor on an accent table. Faux florals are a must and these are so full and exotic. This colorful x-bench is ideal for a guest bedroom or place two under a console. I'm bananas over this adorable necklace. The tiered rainbow dress is feminine and seems like the most comfortable thing in the world. I think these white earrings are really beautiful. The kind of thing you would wear all summer long. The round straw bag is super chic and the pearl sliders are so elegant for the pool, or to bring to yoga. You will be the most stylish gal there! Trust!

Just a Few Things || Getting ready for Summer

Just a few things that I thought would your life a little more fun.

1 // The Perfect Straw Tote. Lindroth Design offers this practical and chic tote in an array of colors. Choose your favorite combination, add your initials and you are ready to go to the beach, the flower market, or the farmer's stand. They have them with long handles, short handles, a clutch and they even have a mini version. If you are not a monogram kind of a girl they also have the cutest straw bucket bag called the Birkin Basket. J'Adore!

2 // Monogrammed Napkins. Aren't these adorable? The color palette is really perfect for Easter, but also perfect for warm weather entertaining. Brooke also has fun monogrammed banana leaf napkins that would look amazing out in the patio for a barbecue.

3 // A Bucket Full of Roses. Yes please!!! What a different way to send flowers! I'm just loving the simple and modern presentation of these Landeau roses. Pick your favorite color and send away! But currently they only deliver in NY, LA, Chicago and San Francisco. Don't worry I'm sure they will be coming to your neck of the woods soon.

4 // Doggie Prints. These doggie prints are an adorable addition to a desk, a lonely corner or a gallery wall. I'm quite smitten with this Staffordshire one, but she also has what I think are grey hounds and pugs.

Walls that WAO || Jayne Design Studio

This small but beautifully designed apartment by Jayne Design Studio in New York's Upper West side is a standout because of its daring walls. The exquisite walls in the living room are covered in painted canvas by Anne Harris (you can read more about her jaw-dropping murals here), based on 1707 designs for English dress silk by James Lehman, which goes to show that inspiration is everywhere. And the bedroom has a handpainted Chinese wallpaper commissioned from Gracie with views of villages in a soothing light blue palette. One thing is for certain, this apartment may be small but the design makes it grand.

Inexpensive Large Format Photography || Jenny's Print Shop

Jenny Komenda's Little Green Notebook was one of the first blogs I was instantly addicted to (you can see my old living room here on her blog). She is so talented in design, crafty in DYIs, creative in general, such a great entrepreneur, and just the loveliest person ever. I was really excited to learn that she recently launched, Jenny's Print Shop, where you can download some of her beautiful photos for just $15. These are high resolution images that you can then print in large format (my favorite! you can print these over 20"×30″ if you wanted to) and frame to your liking. So, for just $15 you can get beautiful art for your home to enliven your space. Her photos are fun, colorful and different. There is something for everyone. Let me show you my faves....this flower one is definitely my most favorite....but there are many that I would not mind hanging in my home.

Aren't they dynamic and vibrant? These would be great for playrooms, kids' rooms...powder bathrooms, family rooms. Really anywhere! And at that price there is no risk. You can't go wrong.
