Common Challenges faced by Mother to an Autism Child

Being a mother to a child with autism can come with unique challenges that can be difficult to navigate.

My son is a child with severe autism and I have been facing various of challenges that not all mothers have been though.

Difficulty in communication: My son is non-verbal and has difficulty in communication. It is hard him to express their feelings or understand others. Thus, it can be challenging to understand his needs.

Behavioral issues: Noah has been displaying challenging behaviors. Managing these behaviors is overwhelming and require a lot of patience and understanding.

Specialized care and therapy: Child lives with severe autism requires specialized care and therapy, Managing and providing ongoing support are time-consuming and stressful.

Social isolation: Caring for a Noah is sometimes very isolating. I often find it challenging to connect with other parents or find social activities that Noah can participate in.

Financial burden: The cost of specialized care, therapy, and education for Noah is high and really put a strain our finances.

Emotional strain: Noah often experience higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Coping with the daily challenges of parenting a child with autism can be emotionally exhausting.

Often we longing for the needs of understanding, patience, and support various parties.

My Autism Son's Fever and Difficulty Seeking Medical Care

My son who is on the autism spectrum been running a fever and cough since morning and I believe it was time for him to have a consultation with a doctor. However, individuals with autism can face unique challenges when it comes to medical care.

My son struggles with sensory sensitivities and difficulty with transitions, making it difficult for him to go to new places or to unfamiliar healthcare settings. Additionally, he may have difficulty communicating his symptoms or concerns due because he is non-verbal.

Before the appointment, I demo the scenario as what will be expected during the consultation at home. Pretend play with doctor set is helpful to help him understand what would happen and to prepare him for the experience.

On top of that, I will do pre- communication with the GP regarding on information about my son's autism and any specific concerns or needs that he may have.

Nando's offer a wide range of delicious and healthy chicken dishes, such as grilled chicken, chicken wings, and salads and my son just loves them. We pretty much happy with their offer on bottomless frozen yogurt.

The restaurant environment is comfortable and welcoming, making it a great place for us and our severe autism child to dine together. The staff are friendly.

Our needs were being respected and we received good service. Both my child and us had a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience

Working Mother with Autism Kid - to quit or not to quit

Working mother and raising a child with autism is very challenging. Deciding whether to be a stay-at-home mom or a working mom when you have a child with autism can be a difficult decision and it will depend on individual circumstances and priorities.

A stay-at-home mom will have more time and flexibility to focus on child's needs and care i which is particularly important as my severe autism son needs a lot of support and attention. With consideration of being a stay-at-home mom allow me to be more involved in Noah's therapies, treatments, and education.

However, being a stay-at-home mom can also be challenging, both emotionally and financially. The high possibility of facing with social isolation, financial strain, and a loss of identity and purpose outside of being a caregiver.

On the other hand, being a working mom can provide financial stability and career fulfillment, which can be important for many women. The feel a sense of personal fulfillment and identity outside of being a caregiver, which can be beneficial for overall well-being.

Nevertheless, working moms also face unique challenges, such as juggling work and caregiving responsibilities, finding affordable and reliable childcare, and managing work-related stress. It's important to have a support system in place, including reliable childcare, and to communicate openly with your employer about your needs as a caregiver when choosing to be a working mum.

The decision to be a stay-at-home mom or a working mom can be tough. It is highly depending on individual circumstances and priorities. Both choices have their benefits and challenges in considering own needs and the needs of the child.
