Having real breakfast/brunch with coffee, juice, eggs, and toast is one of the best things to do on a Sunday in New York. I've been meaning to post these photos from last Sunday all week, but I just haven't gotten to it.

I decided to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend by taking a run in the park. Felt so damn good! I'm going to spend the rest of this afternoon working on my business cards and some other designs at home, and later on I'm heading to Brooklyn to pre-party with my girls.

I was totally in the mood to go out tonight, but I decided to be smart and stay at home working instead. It's hard to stay in knowing that I have two extra days off due to Thanksgiving... But I have a bunch of design projects to work on as always, so I'm glad that I got some stuff done.

Here's two of my latest poster designs! Haven't posted any work in ages so I figured it's about time. The second poster is actually being printed out and used for real. Yay!

There's a great sushi place whit the best dinner special at 6th street between 1st & 2nd ave where me and Elsa often go to catch up and gossip. They also allow you to bring your own wine! Exactly what I needed after a long day at school.

Here's some random photos from the last few weekends, which have all been fun yet busy. And Thanksgiving is coming up, which means that next weekend will be a long one. Yay! Not sure what I'm doing for Thanksgiving yet, though my friend suggested that we'd get turkey sandwiches from Subway... haha.

JWT College Art Battle

So, here's finally some photos from the JWT (look up this company!!) college art battle. It was an amazing, yet nerve-wracking experience that I'll never forget. We were given a theme, and then we had exactly 90 minutes to draw/paint while the audience was partying and watching us.

I'll add photos from the event where the top three's pieces were sold for charity. I got on third place with my piece, and there were seven art schools from New York participating.

Celebration

The past week has been amazing. Remember the art battle I wrote about? It went well, and it was an amazing experience. I got to meet a lot of amazing people, and my piece got sold in an open auction at the Marquee. The money went to charity, so I feel like I've done something smart with my art.

Photos and aaaalll the details are coming up soon, I promise. I have to head to the train now, meeting up with one of my best party pals.

After a field trip to Brooklyn museum and a lecture at school I had a snack at Starbucks and took a yoga class. The weather has been ultra crappy today, so after I got home I made myself some dinner, worked on a vinyl cover design for my portfolio, and stayed in all night.

Now I'm going to watch some Love Bites episodes on Hulu and try to get a good night sleep. Later skaters!

I'm looking through my books that I got for my classes this quarter and thinking about the fact that I won't be picking up any more books next quarter. Because there will not be any more quarters left after this one! Eeek. As I've probably mentioned before, I'm excited to graduate... but at the same time it feels kind of scary.

I've spent most of the day at school working on this poster and some other designs. Now that graduation is getting closer I feel like I'd just like to spend all my spare time (well, almost) at school. I'm really going to miss it there!

Now I finally have a real phone that works properly and receives emails. I'm so happy! I even got a skype app downloaded on the phone so that I can call my family for free wherever I am. So awesome!

My hood

I've been meaning to post something every single night this week, but I just never got to it. I'm sorry!

Anyway, I'm excited because today I'm finally going to get myself a new phone! The old piece of crap that I have right now is just not working for me anymore. Other than that I'm just going to stroll around in Harlem a bit, finish an illustration that I need for one of my designs, cook dinner, and watch a movie. Just enjoy myself basically. I love Sundays!

Stop Motion

Last weeks Friday me and one of my professors shot a stop motion movie that we need for an up coming art competition that I'm representing my school in. It's basically just a short clip that introduces me, my school, and the ad agency where the competition is going to take place. Shooting a movie like this required us to take a bunch of photos, cut everything out, build our own set, then move stuff around, and take a bunch of pictures. It was a really interesting project!

The movie clip is going to be online on Friday. I'll put up a link here later!

Because I Deserve it

Ran to Duane Reede and got myself some chocolate and a glossy magazine as soon as I was done at work. My day was ok, but as soon as I got home I could feel how my fever started coming on, again. I'm going to drink a bunch of water, enjoy my chocolate, take a hot bath, and go to bed early. Hopefully that'll cure me for good!

Today i started my final quarter at school. I can't believe how close I am to graduating now! Eeek.

This has been a good day, except that I still have a fever and feel funky. In the morning I stopped by the Finnish consulate to apply for a new passport and then I had a really inspiring afternoon class. There's going to be a lot of work to do this quarter but I'm happy that everything is going to be design related. No more Science, English, or Math classes etc. Who has time for that anyway...

This has been a pretty nice Sunday, except from the fact that I'm getting sick... again. I took a long walk with my roommate and made tacos. That's pretty much it.

Now I'm about to watch a movie. I'd better relax now because next week is gonna be intense!

Yesterday I decided to stay at home all night and take it easy. Went to bed at 11.30pm and didn't wake up before 11am this morning, but I'm still exhausted. I don't get it! Oh well, I'm going to make sure to enjoy this Sunday since it's probably going to be my only day off in a while. Heading out for a walk in the sun now!

My weekend has been really busy, even though I'm on a one week long break from school. I've been running around the city with my friends, and also working on a fun project. I've been asked to represent my school in an up coming "art battle" kind of competition which is going to take place in November. However, I need to send in a clip that describes me as an artist by next week. Me and my teacher are putting together an interesting stop motion movie which requires a bunch of photos and some drawings. I'll show you the result as soon as it's done!

I've been really busy with finals and internship, that's why this blog has been extremely quiet for the past week. Today was my first day in a long time when I did not have to do any homework or go to work. Yay! I've had time to take a yoga class, drink iced coffee and gossip, clean the apartment, and do laundry. Now I'm about to read the newest Wallpaper magazine for some inspiration, and then start working on one of my own design projects.

My finals are coming up, which means that I have a lot of things to do this weekend, including two research papers, one presentation, and a website. I decided to get at least one of the papers done today, and now I'm FINALLY done with the first one. It took me at least two hours to get started though, since every time a sat down at the computer I somehow ended up chatting on facebook instead of writing. Hmm.

Tattoo Design

Me and my cousin Edith are working on some ideas for a new tattoo related to our fun childhood memories. We've spent most of our summers together at our summer house in Finland doing completely stupid stuff, for example taking care of two baby crows that were abandoned by their mom. That's why were thinking about creating a design with a crow.

This is the first draft that I threw together today, but we're both gonna work on more ideas.

I managed to attend the internship orientation and stay awake through a four hour long Cyber Theory class although I couldn't get much sleep last night. There were too many thoughts running through my head, I hate not being able to sleep!

Anyway, good news are that I am starting as a graphic design intern at MTV Networks tomorrow! EEEEK!
