The State of Gujarat has a large number of students entering in engineering disciplines
after their 10+2 classes and has introduced a Course named Bridge Course for all students to ensure that they get accustomed to Engineering Study Environment and learn the art of Compeleting the syllabus in time as well as to perform better in GTU EXAMS .

Usually , Students in spite of their good academic record and having good marks in JEE
examination, students have virtually stopped studying after the month of April . Students have to wait longer for their Academic Results and Entrance results before they can approach to any of Engineering Colleges for their further Studies .

Why Bridge Course in Essential

Immediately
after the admissions the concern areas are homesickness, sudden transition from vernacular to
English language, teacher guided rote learning to applications based self learning and
intermingling of a large cross section of students from vastly varying backgrounds. Thus the
new academic environment and the teaching methodology build pressure in the minds of even
the most confidants of students, who then have to struggle on many fronts, to adjust to the
campus culture, the class rooms and for those away from their homes, fend for themselves
beyond college hours too.
As the students are unable to cope with the pace of teaching and the new campus life in
general attention to concepts and understanding of the subject are challenged in the very
beginning itself. . This affects their performance in first year end semester examination and
subsequent exams in the higher semesters too.

Objective of Bridge Course:

The Bridge Course is aimed to act as a buffer for the new entrants, with an objective to

provide adequate time for the transition to hardcore engineering courses. Students will be

groomed for the foundation subjects of Mathematics, Elements of Engineering,

Physics/Chemistry, English, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Life Skills, State

Cadet Corps (SCC), limited to 10+2 level. This gives them a breather, to prepare themselves

before courses for first year engineering commence. During this interaction of 6 weeks with

the faculty and their classmates, the students will be equipped with the knowledge and the

confidence needed to take on bigger challenges as future engineers of this country. .

Design of Bridge Course:

Breaking away from the tradition of teaching in the Lecture-Tutorial-Practical mode,

popularly used in engineering education, the Bridge Course is designed with a mixed set of

activities during the class. Hence the teacher-student contact is not classified into number of

hours for Lecture (Theory) class or Practical (Laboratory) classes but Interactive and Active

Learning by Doing activity during the course have been weaved into the Bridge Course. Each 2

subject therefore has been allotted only number of contact hours without any distinction of

theory and practical.

Concept of Active Learning:

Active learning with the help of other students has been found to create an

environment to make student learning very comfortable. Therefore the activity based learning

is recommended and the details of various activity have been prescribed in the contents of the

syllabus of each subject of the bridge course.

Evaluation:

The evaluation of the students for the bridge course subjects shall be through two

modes:

1. Progressive Assessment, and

2. End Semester Examination

End Semester Examination pattern shall be in accordance with the circular dated

02/09/2013 and paper style for first year subjects shall be as per scheme available on GTU

website.

Progressive Assessment shall be made as per the rubrics for evaluation mentioned in the

detailed content of each subject.

At the end of the 4 week bridge course, the colleges have to submit the marks obtained by

the student out of 50 marks for each subject of the bridge course. The marks shall be

entered by the institute through Online Marks Entry Portal of the University.

What is the Difference Between MSP and MSA ?

Microsoft Student Partners MSP are application builders/developers/programmers/coders

while the Microsoft Student Associates MSA are tech enthusiasts,student influencers using technology for social impact .

The MSA Program is open to students across all disciplines and not restricted to students enrolled in STEM(Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) courses .

Students from all courses arts, commerce, science, engineering, MBA, etc. are eligible for this program .

Anyone who is actively enrolled as a student at an accredited educational institution that grants high-school or college/university (or equivalent) degrees (including home schools) is eligible to become an MSA.
Students must be pursuing his college academic term . This program is not for College/University Passout Students .

The Student/College need not to pay any fee to join this MSA Program . Its free for all Students .
Any student with a bend towards technology and interested in evangelizing Microsoft technologies can be a part of this program .

Once you become a MSA, You will be able to conduct Seminar/Workshops in your college with Microsoft experts and spread awareness about new Microsoft Technologies . Hence,

Selected MSAs can apply for the MSP program in the next academic year. The MSAs cannot become MSP in the same academic year.

Download Recommendation letter sample,Edit it according to your needs . Print it ,Get authorized Faculty or MSP signature & date . Then Scan it ,take .jpg format of it & upload it on Onedrive as mentioned and share the link of it in the registration form .

Step 3: Once you get registered ,you will receive mail from Microsoft

Step 4: You will get a task to complete as stated in these picture. You will receive next email from them .

The first step of the Selection Proces- " Tell your Story" ..

Write an article on how Microsoft has impacted in your life. Just Visit Wordpress.com or blogger.com and write a post . Or you can create Youtube video introducing yourself and your interest in Microsoft . Then do share the Blog posts link or youtube video link on your Facebook/twitter ID .

Step 6: After you submit your link, You will receive a mail about Second round of Selection Process for MSA-"Microsoft virtual Academy" . Sign in with your hotmail account on Microsoft Virtual Academy and complete any two training Courses listed below in Picture .

Step 7: Complete atleast any 2 Courses , Download Certificates and upload it on Onedrive. Create a Folder,and upload the certificates under it . Share the Folder link with Microsoft at given link

How Microsoft has impacted on my Life

Okay, now let me narrate my Story . Well, Its not any sort of king/tales/fables nor Moral/comic story . But its a story about my journey with one of the Major Tech giant -Microsoft . We all know how it has impacted on our lives and lifestyle by making things Easy and Simple.

With the beginning of 21st Century, In the year 2002 I was first time introduced to a Multimedia PC loaded with Microsoft Operating System in my School when I was studying in 2nd Standard( CBSE Board ).

And My school taught me basic use of these Operating system . It was fun & creative learning Microsoft Paint-Image Editor and drawing my imagination with the help of Mouse(Optic Ball) on the desktop Screen.

These helped me to develop love towards Technology and Microsoft Windows XP ( I still remember those square shaped old windows ICON,which i am really missing a lot) . Further I used to hear musics/videos inserting Audio/Video CD and had great pleasure .

In the year 2003, Many Cyber Cafe's had emerged in my City Valsad - India and it made life easy for people unable to afford own Desktop Personal Computer and Dial-Up internet connections those days . It was my Friend Rajan , 4 Years Older than me who used to drive me towards the Cyber Cafe in my local region . Just because of him,I learned surfing Internet world on Microsoft Internet Explorer . Since,then I started exploring the internet world and learning more about upcoming technology . I used to visit Cyber Cafe's 5/6 times month those days . Also I used to enjoy making new friends and chatting with them online with the help of Chat Messengers . I learned to use Microsoft hotmail and used it as a tool to communicate with my other friends . I used to learn more about creating email accounts,registering a new account for online services, learning more about Microsoft Windows XP and also learned keyboard typing for all these as well .

By the age of 12 (2007) ,I was familiar with Microsoft Windows XP/Vista Os and its Office application Packages like Microsoft Office Word,Presentation,Excel,Access,Publisher,Outlook,etc . I had learned using all these software applications in my school itself . I still rememer the old funny clippy animation in Microsoft Word .

Later, on my demand to learn more about tech stuffs online and explore Technology more efficiently,My father gifted me a cellular phone( Nokia 7210-fabolous design) and PC in the year 2008 . Now,it was easy to stay connected to internet 24/7 . I discovered many Online Technology forums and was also inquisitive to know more about web development and earning online . Since,I had phone & Pc,I also learned installing/flashing my phones with the help of PC software available on Windows Os . I also learned troubleshooting Windows Os Problems like blue screen,mouse freezing,Os corruption with the help of internet . Thus,It made me full-fledged with technical stufss & knowledge . Now ,I was in love with my phone and Windows PC more than anything else . I used to spend more hours on learning tech stuffs . I also used to spare my exam reading holidays to learn more about Technology .

By the Age 16 , I was comfortable with Website design & development,Sharing views on online tech Forums ,online Web services and Micro-Blogging . Now,I was familiar little-bit with Search Engine Optimization and optimizing my Blog Post according to Microsoft Bing and other search providers .

Thus,My life continued learning every Tech related stuffs .

After Finishing my School Life, Today I am Pursuing my Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology ( BE-IT ) . And Microsoft is still serving me Good Purpose by helping me in my Powerpoint presentations,Word documents,Excel Worksheets,etc .

Today,whatever knowledge I hold is just because of Microsoft and its new Technologies . I am a Microsoft Windows genuine user ,but still I thanks them for providing Windows 7/Windows 8 Trial versions for Indian people . Also ,Thanks to Bill Gates,Steve Ballmer and Satya Nadella for making this possible.

How Do I Plan to bring change a change to the Society being Microsoft Student Associate

I will organize events/workshops in my city and college campus to bring awareness about Microsoft Windows 8.1 OS, Windows Phone and Microsoft Bing search Engine.
I will form a team and spread & share Tech knowledge to more Students .
I will also introduce about the Future of Windows PC and Windows Phone Apps development to all Students .
Also,My team will help to spread knowledge about Microsoft Office Package applications in rural area .
By Organizing Webinars,Video Conference,Micro-Blogging and sharing knowledge among many students .
I will help students and people around me to discover their Tech interests and thereby helping them to build a Good career in Information Technology Industry .
I wish to Become Techpreneur and thus help my society to know more about Microsoft Technology.
Alongwith My Team , I will organize campaigns to bring awareness about Microsoft Online Certifiation Exams,Microsoft Student Partership,Microsoft Student Associates ,Microsoft Dreamspark,Microsoft Bizspark,MTA , MCP ,etc .

As per their schedule,CBSE 10th and 12th exams are going to commence on March 1, 2014. CBSE had just put up exam datesheet on January 1,2014 at their official CBSE website .

All the exams would begin at 10.30am. It is sigh of relief for CBSE students that class X exams would end on March 19 while class XII exams would continue on upto April 17.

Learn Surya Namaskar Easily with 12 Steps

"Surya Namaskar" is Sanskrit which means obeisance or prostrations (Namaskar) to the sun (Surya). It is a combination of 12 postures performed in a series. But today Surya Namaskar is widely practiced as an amazing exercise that works out all the muscles of the body. It can be practiced at different states of the mind from simple exercising to deep chakra meditation, which is mediation that concentrates on all our body’s energy centers.

Surya Namaskar offers stretch in every muscle at each position and gives a complete workout to the entire body. Regularly practiced, it can alone result in weight loss and muscle toning.

Surya Namaskar is an exercise in itself, but it is also used as a warm up for other, more strenuous workouts. You can perform Surya Namaskar at the end of other exercise routines as well, as a way to relax and wind down strained muscles.

It implies that one rise before sun rise in order to do this exercise or pay obeisance to the rising sun. This is around 5 to 5:30 AM. Of course, this exercise is good no matter what time you may use it, but it is best done while the stomach is empty, before eating.

It will also help one lose weight and trim the waist. Also, pregnant women should not practice it, but can continue it during their period because it can help digestion and the flow of energy and outflow of waste needed at this time.

Method

All 12 postures are done in a series, 1st using the left leg and then the right. Once both the sides are done, 1 round of Surya Namaskar is completed.

When being performed one requires to inhale and exhale at every alternate position, beginning with inhalation, except in the 6th position where the breath is held.

Surya Namaskar is ideally done, in an open space,environment and most preferably facing towards the sun. The most suitable time is in the morning before any heavy food intake.

Usually, People begin with 6 rounds and then move on to 12 rounds. A set of Surya Namaskar can consist of either 12 or 24 rounds. Each set should be followed with a break of 3-5 minutes in Shavasan. The maximum number of rounds that can be practiced, with the breaks, are 108. More than that would be more physical exertion than the body can take.

Start slow. Within a week get to 12 rounds every morning and stick to it. If you feel the need to do more number of sets to lose more weight, gradually increase the number of rounds

STEPS

POSTURE 1 [PRANAMASANA ]: First you stand erect, ready to face the early morning sun. Stand straight with chest out and spine erect, looking forward with hands folded in front of the chest where the heart is located. It is like a stance of prayer in respect for the sun. Once you start doing the routine, you spend about one second in this pose, and the others that follow. Of course, if one is weak or aged, or if you are new to the routine, you may take this a little slower.

POSTURE 2 [HASTAUTTANASANA]: Now, while inhaling, raise your arms up in the air while keeping the hands together, and arch your self backwards as far as you can go, forming a crescent-like curve from your feet to the hands. This posture helps retain the flexibility of the spine.

POSTURE 3 [PADHASTASANA ]: Now, while exhaling, bring your hands down to your feet so that you quickly bend forward at the waist, while keeping the legs as straight as possible. The best position is to bring the hands flat to the floor on either side of your feet, while keeping the head as close to the knees as you can. If you are not that flexible, then just do the best you can. The most important aspect of this pose is that it squeezes the stomach and assists in digestion to extract any vitamins and nutrients in one's food, which helps turn it into blood. It also loosens any fat that has accumulated there. Postures 2 and 3 are actually the easiest to do, so if you cannot do the others, at least do these.

POSTURE 4 [ASHWA SANCHALANASANA ]: From position three, while inhaling, put your hands on the floor and lower your hips and stretch your left leg back as far as you can, letting the foot rest on the toes and the knee touch the ground, while you bend your right leg in a crouching stance, letting the right knee come up to your chest. Keeping your hands flat on the ground, your arms straight, arch your head upward and back so you are looking at the ceiling or sky. This forms a crescent shape from the left heel up to the top of your head. This position helps ensure flexibility of the spine and immunity from diseases in the left leg muscles and ligaments.

POSTURE 5 [PARVATASANA]: While exhaling, now keep your hands flat on the ground and carry the right leg back to parallel the left leg, sided by side, both feet pressing firmly flat against the floor, while bringing your hips up into the air as high as they will go. Keep your arms and back in a straight line as your head faces the ground, and bring the chin to the chest, making you look at your knees. This makes your body form an upside down "V" or a triangle between you and the floor.

POSTURE 6 [ASHTANGA NAMASKARA ]: Now, while keeping the hands and feet in the same places, having fully exhaled hold the breath and bring your hips down while moving the head and shoulders forward, straightening the whole body near the floor. Keep the face downward with the forehead, the chest and knees lightly touching the ground, and the hips slightly raised. With the forehead, chest, and two palms, knees, and feet touching the floor, it is called Sashtang Namaskar, or prostrations with eight points touching the floor. Do not touch abdomen or nose.

POSTURE 7 [BHUJANGASANA]: The next posture, while inhaling, flows from position 6, which is done merely by straightening your arms and lifting your chest upward and arching your head back so that you are looking at the ceiling. Your feet and knees rest on the floor while your arms hold the rest of your body a little above it. Again you form a body-length crescent, from your feet up to your head. This yogic position is known as "the cobra".

POSTURE 8 [PARVATASANA]: Now exhale and let your body flow into position 5 again by lowering your head and chest, keep your arms and legs straight, and raise your hips as high as they will go. As your head faces the ground, keep your arms and back in a straight line and bring the chin to the chest, making you look at your knees, which forms an upside down "V" again.

POSTURE 9 [ASHWA SANCHALASANA ]: Now, while inhaling, we flow into the same position as number four, but stretch the other leg. So we first bend the left leg and bring the left foot forward on the floor. Keeping your hands flat on the ground, bring your hips down while moving the chest and head forward, allowing the left knee to reach up to the chest, and then arch your head up and back. The right foot stays in its place, letting the foot rest on the toes, which makes the right leg get stretched backward when your chest moves forward. This gives the body a crescent shape from the right heel up to the top of your head. This position helps ensure flexibility of the spine and immunity from diseases in the right leg muscles and ligaments.

POSTURE 10 [PADHASTASANA ]: Now we go back into posture three. Keep your hands in place as you bring your right leg forward to be parallel with the left leg. With both feet flat on the floor (if you can keep them that way), and the legs kept straight, the body is bent at the waist, while exhaling, with the forehead touching the knees (if you can bend this much). If you are not this flexible and cannot bend like this, then simply do it as best you can and keep the head as close to the knees as possible.

POSTURE 11[HASTAUTTANASANA ]- 12 [PRANAMASANA]: Now, while inhaling, stand up and raise your arms up in the air while keeping the hands together, and arch your self backwards as in posture number two.

Hold this for a second and then go back into posture number one and join the palms in front of your chest as in prayer. Now the whole cycle of postures is completet and can start again for the next Surya Namaskar.

You may want to do each posture separately the first time you do this to familiarize yourself with each one. Then begin to do it as a flowing movement from one to the other, through all ten postures. Do it as a cycle of 100 Surya Namaskars, or even more, if you want. You will certainly notice the difference in your health, weight, flexibility, energy level, and even overall attitude.

The idea is that you do about 100 Surya Namaskars every morning, and the time to do them should not be a consideration. With practice, these poses will flow more smoothly and quickly. If each pose lasts about a second, then the full Surya Namaskar can be done in about 10 seconds or so.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the all India entrance examination conducted for the admissions into the Engineering courses . Since 2013, JEE is being conducted in two parts, JEE-MAIN and JEE-ADVANCED .
