Help Support Prostate Health and Prevent Reoccurrence of Prostate Cancer

Nutrition plays a very important role in cancer treatment. Scientific evidence shows that nutrition and physical activity are the two most important modifiable risk factors to alter the course of cancer, prevent its occurrence, and stop its progression. Remember, you are what you eat. Neglecting proper environmental conditions, consuming foods loaded with pesticides and poor nutrition provides a favorable environment for cancer to grow and develop. Proper nutrition supports the immune system, starves cancer cells, and provides micro- and macronutrients.

Avoid foods loaded with sugar (the preferred food of cancer), dairy products, refined foods, fried foods, junk foods, caffeine, alcohol, nitrates, and food coloring. Limit high-fat (e.g., saturated and trans fats) foods, particularly non organic grass raised red meat, which have been implicated in prostate cancer.

Stop eating foods that you are sensitive to. Use the elimination and challenge process to determine foods that may a sensitive reaction in our bodies.

We need to drink about 50% of body weight in ounces of water daily, for example a 160 lbs. person would drink 80 Oz of water daily. Drink spring or distilled water with no added supplements or excess minerals; avoid chlorine and fluoride.

Supplements and Prostate Cancer

Supplements are intended to provide nutritional support. Because a supplement or a recommended dose may not be appropriate for all persons, consult with your primary healthcare provider that is well experienced in the field of nutrition and naturopathic, holistic or alternative medicine. It is also highly recommended that prior to starting any regiment of vitamin or mineral supplement one should go through a full detoxification process with the direction of your naturopathic healthcare provider.

Curcumin – 400 mg 3 times daily. Curcumin is a yellow pigment in Turmeric (Curcuma longa) with strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Fractionated citrus pectin (also known as modified citrus pectin or MCP) – 6 grams 2 times daily. MCP powder is usually dissolved in a small amount of water and then diluted juice. It interferes with cancer cells’ ability to aggregate and attach to healthy cells and inhibits cancer cell growth.

Genistein – 200 mg daily. An isoflavone that inhibits the growth of cancer cells and acts as an antioxidant. Soy nuts are high in genistein.

Green tea – Drink at least 4 cups a day or take a standardized extract. Inhibits cancer cell growth and induces apoptosis (programmed cell death).

Lycopene – 10 mg daily. A carotenoid found primarily in tomatoes.

Melatonin – 20 mg daily. Inhibits cancer cell growth and potentiates the beneficial effects of chemotherapy and radiation while reducing their side effects.

Selenium – 400–800 mcg daily. A potent antioxidant.

Vitamin D – .25–.50 mcg daily. Inhibits cancer cell growth and may induce apoptosis.

Vitamin E succinate – 1200–1600 IUs daily. Inhibits cancer cell growth and promotes normal cell division.

Zinc – 1550 mg daily. As zinc competes with copper for absorption, it is important to supplement with copper. Zinc supplements containing copper are available. Supports immune function.

Pull Your Sweet Tooth Out Now Before It Kills You!!!

Can’t stop your excessive craving for sugar? Teach yourself how to fight that overwhelming sugar cravings and reap the sweetest rewards. Ever notice how most people who do not crave sweets, rarely have a weight problem?

Are you high on crack? Yes that is the comparison I am making. Today’s marketing is geared solidly on our over addiction to sweets. Before you say no, think about what you have most recently eaten. If it includes anything from white sugar coated or color filled cereal and the super Grande Frappuccino to cold cuts and ketchup, there’s a great chance you’re high with a sugar rush right now. You do not have to feel guilty a mass majority of the industrial world population currently suffers from market induced sugar addiction. Most recent research demonstrates that nearly a quarter of our daily caloric intake about 325 calories on average are derived from sweets like baked goods, desserts, soda, and sugar fortified fruit juices. In other words, from foods loaded with processed sugars.

Can you feel the rush?

Too many sweet treats are bad for us because they typically deliver an extreme amount of calories with little or no nutrition what so ever. A more troubling fact is that our consumption of the white sugar crack, so do the inches on our hips. A study published in the Annual Review of Nutrition analyzed diets in the United States and discovered that from 1970 through 2000, daily caloric intake amongst females around the ages of 20 to 39 escalated from 1,652 to 2,028. And Over the same time period, the percentage of calories that they were getting from fats and protein declined. Not surprisingly the amount of carbs particularly processed sugar skyrocketed up. On average, each of us scarfs 25 pounds more sugar annually than people did back when television started showing in color. There’s no getting away from the fact the over use and marketing of product using high amounts of Sugar is an extreme part of what’s making us gain excessive weight today.

Now get ready for some more bad news. First off eating too much processed food with sugar can excite your appetite rather than satisfy it, and second it can even become extremely addictive. Now you see why I compare it to crack cocaine? This no surprise to those of us who have a daily afternoon chocolate candy bar crave and will darn near put a whole in the vending machine when it won’t let us have it.

Alas don’t despair, you sugary coated snack lovers, there’s hope for you sugary snack loving addicts yet. With a little determination, and the development of that God given thing we call will power you can train yourself to overcome that oh so overwhelming craving for that sweet crack known as sugar. And when you do, you’ll experience something truly sweet tasting like weight-loss success.

Oh So Viciously Sweet!

The latest threat to our battle of the bulge actually started over forty five years ago. Around 1967 is the year when high-fructose corn syrup, which is scientifically engineered sugar, was first introduced. high-fructose corn syrup is a combination of fructose and glucose, we will shorten it to HFCS. This is a clear, sticky liquid with the consistency of maple syrup that can be cheaper to manufacture and tastes sweeter than naturally, cane-derived sugar (1.16 times sweeter, to be exact). That means food companies can use less to achieve the same taste of sweetness their victims are accustomed to, which translates to bigger profit margins. Most Beverage producers specifically started buying the HFCS in extremely large quantities. In the coming years HFCS also started replacing the natural cane derived sugar in cereals, granola bars, and even flavored yogurt. In seventies HFCS accounted for less than 1 percent of all sweeteners consumed in America. By 2000, after numerous fat-free products were excessively augmented with sugar to improve their taste, that amount has gone up to as much as 42 percent. Currently, HFCS accounts for just about half of all sweeteners, and United States is currently known as the largest producer and consumer of HFCS in the world.

Manufacturers currently use the taste-bud-pleasing stuff to flavor a huge variety of products, including foods that would not normally contain sugar and that you probably would not describe as sweet, like the sesame seed bun on a hamburger, or the Saltine crackers you crumble into soup or chili. Even if you vigilantly avoid sugar and never let a piece of candy enter your mouth, you could still be consuming a diet loaded with sugar from hidden sources. According to a 2008 USDA report, more than 57 percent of all the sugar on the market is purchased by the food and beverage industry to flavor consumer products, and sweeteners such as fructose, sucrose, glucose, and HFCS are the number one food additive. Eating without carefully checking food labels and restaurant websites for nutritional information, you may unknowingly allowing sugar into your body. And guess where it heads for first? Right to that abdomen bulge you used to call your waist.

Overview of the practice of Naturopathic Medicine

We are all at risk for developing many varieties of cancer. Even given the fact that there have been many technological advances in the treatment of some cancers, it is still the second leading cause of death in the United States. With the use of naturopathic therapies to compliment conventional cancer treatments, naturopathic treatment can enhance the effectiveness by improving overall health, reducing or eliminating debilitating factors that promote the growth of cancer, and improving the success of chemotherapy and radiation while reducing their side effects. Naturopathic treatment is patient specific, treatment specific, and tumor growth specific. By capitalizing on the strengths of naturopathic treatment combined with conventional medical treatment, the cancer patient can greatly improve their chances of surviving the cancer treatment, eliminate the growth and prevent future reoccurrence.

Naturopathic and holistic treatments are geared more to the individual needs of the patient, it is more beneficial, if at all possible, to have an experienced naturopathic physician or holistic doctor determine which naturopathic therapies are most appropriate. The situation, of course, is best when all naturopathic, holistic, Alternative and allopathic physicians collaborate to develop the proper treatment path for the patient.

Cancer Treatment & Nutrition

Nutrition plays an extremely important part not only in the prevention of cancer growths, but also in its treatment. Scientific study shows that nutrition and physical exercise are two very important parts that can be modified to change the direction of cancer cell growth, prevent it from forming, and halt its progression. Keep in mind, you are what you consume. Poor nutrition provides an optimum environment for cancer development and growth. By changing their lifestyle the human body can naturally strengthen its cancer defense mechanisms. Proper nutrition and physical activity supports the immune system, deprives cancer cells, and sends micro- and macronutrients to support healthy cell activity.

Cancer needs nourishment to grow and it uses the food that a person eats. As a result, many cancer patients suffer from malnutrition. In fact, many die not from cancer directly, but from malnutrition. For this reason, it is generally recommended that the diet consist of 25–30% protein, 40–50% carbohydrate, and 20% fat. A guideline for an appropriate caloric intake is 16–18 calories per pound of body weight (e.g., a 150 lb person would eat 2400–2700 calories daily). Eat small, frequent meals and chew food thoroughly.

A healthy diet does not guarantee a life free from cancer but greatly reduces our likelihood. Other risk factors such as environmental exposer, genetics, lack of spirituality, and lifestyle are contributors in development of cancer. The following recommendations can help reduce the risk of developing most cancer growths.

•Eat fresh, unrefined, unprocessed, and hormone-free consumables. Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, soy, beans (legumes), cold-water fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut, and mackerel), olive oil, green tea, garlic, onions, yams, tomatoes, shitake mushrooms, almonds, ginger, curry, nonfat yogurt, seaweed, and fiber. Eating organically grown foods both plant and meat helps reduce exposure to pesticides, herbicides, and hormones, which will increase our risk of developing cancer.

•Stay Away from refined sugars (the preferred food of cancer cell growth), dairy products, refined processed foods, fried foods, food with unnatural or no nutritional value e.g. junk foods, caffeine, excessive use or consumption of alcohol, nitrates, and food coloring. Diminish high-fat (e.g., saturated and trans fats) foods, particularly meat, which has been associated with colon, rectal, prostate, and endometrial cancers.

•Eliminate food sensitivities. Use an elimination diet to determine food sensitivities. Specialty testing by a naturopathic or holistic doctor can be extremely helpful in learning what food sensitivity we may suffer most from.

•Consuming 50% of body weight in water daily in ounces (e.g., a 140 lbs. person would drink 70 Oz of water). Drink spring or distilled water; avoid chlorine and fluoride which are known carcinogens. Do not consume mineral enhanced water because our mineral absorption should come from eating a good serving of leafy green vegetables fruits and nuts.

Cancer and Taking Dietary Supplements

Unfortunately we are not able to consume enough varieties of food daily to digest the vast amount of nutrients and minerals that our body needs to maintain our optimal health, so it is recommended that we use dietary supplements to enhance our dietary requirements.

• Take 2 grams of cod liver oil daily – Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)

•Fractionated citrus pectin Take 6 grams, 2 times daily. MCP interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells. It can be used long term (also called modified citrus pectin or MCP).

• Take 2 tsp. of Glutamine in juice 3 times daily. Glutamine provides the most amino acid in the body and is a very important nutrient for gastrointestinal processes and immune system functions.

•Try to drink at least 1 quart daily of Green Tea. Where caffeine may not be tolerable, use a standardized caffeine free extract.

•Purchase a high-quality vitamin mineral dietary supplement product and take one serving size daily (this will differs from brand to brand).

Cancer & Homeopathy

A well planned homeopathic remedy process and usage can help transition the body and mind toward healing. A trained homeopathic practitioner is needed to identify and provide a potent, constitutional remedy.

Miscellaneous Natural Treatments & Cancer

•Acupuncture is used in treating nausea, pain, and for the relief of stress.

•Aromatherapy and Essential oils are used to treat anxiety, insomnia, nausea, and pain.

•Bach flower remedies with Flower essences are used to treat emotional areas of cancer such as grief, despair, and lack of confidence.

•Using Dry brushing to detoxify the body by improving circulation of the lymph glands and blood. Done one takes a bath, You stroke the skin with a dry brush toward the heart.

•Massage therapy—Used for treating pain, relieving stress, improving blood and lymph flow, and the stimulation of the nervous system.

• Meditation and Relaxation, Widely used to reduce high blood pressure and relieve chronic pain, stress, and anxiety.

•Physical and fun activity such as Yoga, tai chi, aerobics, walking, swimming

• imagery, visualization

•Mental and Spiritual Support groups

•Therapeutic touch

Support for Presurgical Preparation

Measures may be taken, starting at least 2 weeks if not sooner before surgery, to prevent surgical complications, reduce pain and swelling, speed healing, support the immune system, and reduce or prevent the spread of cancer cells.

•Avoid products that reduce clotting (increase bleeding)—Aspirin, gingko, and vitamin E. Also avoid hypericum (St. John’s wort), valerian, and kava.

•Flaxseed oil—Take 1 tbsp daily to decrease healing time.

•General nutrition recommendations—Avoid alcohol, recreational drugs, tobacco, caffeine, sugar, and fried foods. Increase fiber, protein, vegetables, bioflavonoids, essential fatty acids, and water.

•Fractionated citrus pectin (also called modified citrus pectin or MCP)—Take 6 grams (1 tsp powder) daily to help prevent the spread of cancer cells.

•Vitamin A—Take 25,000–50,000 (5000 during pregnancy) IUs daily to support healing and immunity.

•Vitamin B complex—Take 50–100 mg daily to support healing.

•Vitamin C—Take 2000–5000 mg daily to support immunity, reduce bruising and swelling, and provide antioxidant activity.

•Zinc—Take 60 mg daily to speed healing, promote tissue healing, and support immunity.

Postsurgical Procedure Support

These steps may be taken, continuing for 4 weeks after surgery, to prevent surgical complications, reduce pain and swelling, speed the healing process, support the auto immune system, and reduce or prevent the further spreading of cancer cells.

•Bromelain—Take 400 mg 3 times a day away from meals to reduce inflammation, reduce thrombophlebitis, and increase effectiveness of antibiotics.

•Curcumin—Take 400 mg several times daily for pain.

•Homeopathy—Take over-the-counter homeopathic remedies for physical trauma according to product directions.

•Presurgical support—Continue to follow recommendations.

•Protein shakes—Drink daily for an easily absorbed source of amino acids.

•Vitamin E—Take 800 mg daily to reduce thrombophlebitis, support immunity, and reduce adhesions. Because vitamin E is an antiplatelet aggregate, it should not be taken until surgical bleeding has stopped.

When you hear about the naturopathic or holistic HCG diet, does it makes you wonder what is it with the HCG diet that is so different from the other weight loss programs offered on the weight loss market? Is there a secret ingredient that sets it apart from the other diet trends so many people use today?

There really isn’t any secret at all to the HCG diet. The main component used for this weight loss system is the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG as it is abbreviated. This natural hormone can be found in the body of a healthy pregnant woman. A woman’s body produces the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin during the normal phases of pregnancy. Because it is natural there are no adverse effects that occur as a result of adhering strictly to the HCG diet. And men don’t be afraid, this works great for men too with no adverse effect.

When trying the HCG diet, the hormone will help you burn excess fat in your body. As a result, more of your muscles will be energized to do all the workouts easily that would complement the HCG weight loss program. You will start to look leaner and healthier as a result of the lost weight and toned muscle if the diet is accompanied by exercise.

This is definitely one the most efficient and safer answer to your weight problem if you are aiming for a slimmer healthier body. Our clients are losing weight in the range of 18 to 27 pounds in a four week period while on the HCG diet.

The HCG program that is offered by Natural Medical Solutions naturopathic medicine center is provided with a full evaluation of the client’s health prior to starting any weight loss program to assure that the individual is healthy enough to use any recommended product. Our client state of health is monitored throughout the HCG weight loss program to assure that they reach their optimal weight goal.

This is not a fad diet for rapid weight loss, this is a tool to jumpstart the beginning of a lifestyle transformation that will get you away from the ever perpetuating yoyo diet scheme that the rest of the world is addicted to. We are here to help our client develop healthy eating programs that will help them to continue to lose weight even after they have stopped their HCG weight loss program.

Natural Medical Solutions does not use a cookie cutter approach to weight loss for our clients. We adhere to the strict principals that naturopathic medicine is governed by and by our belief that each clients body and health situation in different and will be given a program tailored specifically for their health needs related to their mind body and soul.

Vitamin D levels are associated with vascular health, according to a recently published study. Healthy circulation may be impacted by the accumulation of excess fat and lipids. Excess lipids may eventually impact the endothelial (inner) lining of the blood vessels and lead to changes in cardiovascular health and function. This can prevent optimal blood flow through the arteries.

Two hundred and three adults between the ages of 50 and 93 years old were included in this study. The subjects were evaluated for serum levels of calcium, phosphorus, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, and parathyroid hormone, which regulates calcium and vitamin D metabolism. The subjects were also evaluated for carotid arterial wall thickness and lipid accumulation.

The results of the study showed that 57 percent of the subjects had unwanted lipid accumulation in the carotid arteries. Serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D were inversely associated with both arterial wall thickness and lipid accumulation. This means that as levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D decreased, the thickness of the artery wall tissue increased. Using a model that includes traditional cardiovascular health indices and mineral metabolism, the study authors stated that serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D accounted for 13 percent of the variance in carotid arterial wall thickness. There was no association between calcium, parathyroid hormone, and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D levels and measurements of the carotid arteries.

The researchers concluded that low 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels were associated with increased arterial wall thickness and excess lipid accumulation, and 25-hydroxyvitamin D contributed in a robust manner to the variance in both.

Recent research shows that obesity may increase the risk of estrogen-dependent breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The most recent study indicates that obesity may also increase the risk of triple-negative breast cancer; an aggressive form of the disease not triggered by estrogen and usually has a poor outcome.

Researchers analyzed data from 155,723 postmenopausal Females who participated in a large-scale study called the Women’s Health Initiative. The women answered questions about their physical activity, height and weight. The women were categorized into four different groups, depending on their body mass index also known as your BMI score. Subjects in the highest quarter had BMIs of at least 30, which implies that they were obese.

Using an average follow-up time of 7.9 years, over 2,600 women were diagnosed with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, and just over 300 were diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.

Authors of the study found that women with the highest body mass index were 35 percent more likely to develop triple-negative breast cancer and 39 percent more likely to develop other types of breast cancer than those with the lowest body mass index.

In addition, women who exercised more had a lower chance of developing both estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer or triple-negative breast cancer compared to those who did not exercise at all.

More research will be needed to validate these findings and to confirm how obesity may affect the risk of breast cancer.

Most Naturopathic and holistic Practioner are aware of how Important it is to be balanced with zinc, iron and Vitamin C in our daily diet, which helps to maintain many function and hormonal production in our bodies.

Copper, in its natural mineral form, is the third most common mineral in the body. The copper mineral is very important for many enzyme systems, it is found throughout the musculo-skeletal system, although the largest amounts are detected in the brain and liver organs.

With coppers involvement in the formation of several key enzymes is not only involved in the release of energy inside the cell, but also helps in the function of a lot of antioxidants, assisting the removal of the free radicals that cause cell damage.

The formation and regulation of hormones such as melatonin is under the control of copper, via its role in the blood protein ceruloplasmin and copper enzymes are also responsible for the production of a wide range of neurotransmitters and other nervous system compounds, including the catecholamine’s and encephalon’s.

Collagen production, formation of red blood cells and the oxidation of fatty acids are all highly dependent on sufficient copper supplies in the human body.

Thankfully, copper deficiency per se is rare. However, due to the intricate interaction with zinc (copper and zinc compete for the same absorption sites in the gut), high zinc levels can prevent proper absorption.

Copper Relation to body Functions

Required for the production of collagen

Is required in the absorption of iron

With the regulation of cholesterol levels

Significantly effects on the immune system, including histamine regulation

Imperative for the production of red blood cell

Required for manufacturing of neurotransmitters compounds

Important part of cytochrome oxidase (transporter of Electrical Signals) and controls intracellular energy levels

Essential for melanin production

Aids in the control many hormone levels

Guards against free radical damage as an important part of superoxide dismutase

needed in order to produce hormones distributed by the adrenal glands

Known to help inflammatory diseases such as arthritis

Imperative for Vitamin C to be effective

Copper deficiency

The deficiency of copper is not known to be common some say, we are not sure that the studies have been done to clarify what the frequency may be related to many symptoms that may be misdiagnosed based on its relation to so many body functions. Symptoms largely reflect the bodily funtions which regularly utilize copper and include collagen deficiency such as poor bone and joint function as well as vascular disease. With the involvement of copper in so many hormonal systems means many body systems may be drastically affected. This may lead to brain dysfunction which depend on it for the production of cholesterol and altered red blood cells levels.

Symptoms of Copper deficiency

Immune system malfunctions
Vascular disease such as hemorrhages in severe cases
Brittle bones, mostly seen in children
swelling caused by fluid retention medically known as Oedema
Elevated cholesterol levels
Bad pigmentation of the Epidermis (skin)
Poor Production of red blood cells (Anemia)

Association with other minerals and vitamins

Copper is correlates to other vitamins and minerals in the human body. As we have mentioned, copper and zinc levels are related. If an imbalance of one is found in the diet, the other will likely be deficient or elevated. To our advantage, foods that are high in copper are also high in zinc, but any one that is taking supplements may experience problems if they do not make sure that they are balancing the intake of each of these minirals.

Copper is very important for the proper use of Vitamin
C and also for the absorption of iron, the lack of copper may lead to iron deficiencies. It is known that high doses of Vitamin C, and the amount of copper it requires to be effective, may lead to copper deficiency .

Factors which reduce Copper levels

Nutrient deficiency
Excessive Intake of Zinc
High levels of Vitamin C
Parenteral (intravenous) feeding
Chronic diarrhoea
Crohn’s disease
Coeliac disease
Exaggerated antacids consumption
Burns
Kidney problems

COPPER NEEDED DAILY?

Copper, 1 mg/day for adults, 1.3 mg/day for pregnant and lactating women.

IRON NEEDED DAILY?

Iron, 8 mg/day for men, 18 mg/day for women (27 mg/day when Pregnant).

ZINC NEEDED DAILY

Zinc, 15 mg/day for men, 12 mg/day for women
Copper supplements

People are wearing copper bands to in the case it may assist them with inflammatory problems, like those caused by arthritis. Some suggest that the copper is absorbed through the skin when in fact; most of our “dietary” copper actually comes from copper pipes, utensils and cookware.

Copper supplements, when required are readily available. When included in multivitamin formulas, they are usually balanced with zinc and iron to ensure maximum absorption, however, individual copper supplements can cause problems and should only be taken under close supervision by your healthcare provider.

Naturopathic practitioners please use specialty testing to detect deficiencies this may help them avoid various health complications and may even save their lives!

Saw client on the 19th of July and his history was of being disabled for over 20 years and suffered from various complications of joint pain. Has been seeing medical doctor for these issues and was taking various medication for the pain and also blood thinner. We ordered a complete blood work and all seemed normal except for a noticeable deficiency in copper and sensitivity to Fructose all other results on the report were in normal the normal range. We had also did testing for allergies and it showed various mild but we detected that the client was severely allergic to cow’s milk. None of these were ever checked by the client’s primary care physician.

We tried to contact the client to relay the report results but we were unable to contact them. About two week following that visit the client was to return for a follow-up visit. When we finally were able to speak to someone at their residence we discovered that our client had suffered a massive stroke and had been hospitalized about four days after they originally visited our office. This is what I discovered that is linked to the deficiency of copper in our bodies.

Copper and Cardiovascular Health

A large body of evidence suggests that copper has essential structural and functional roles throughout the cardiovascular system.

Copper is important for the structural integrity of the heart and blood vessels. Crosslinking of arterial collagen and elastine require the copper-dependent enzyme lysyl oxidase. Among the many documented anatomical changes produced by copper deficiency are cardiac enlargement, arteries with smooth muscle degeneration and ventricular and coronary artery aneurysms (abnormal swelling of a portion of the blood vessel caused by weakness of the vessel wall).

HCG Diet FAQ

What is the HCG Diet?

Dr. Simeons HCG Diet, a specialist on obesity and weight regulation, introduced a program that has helped many people overcome weight loss resistance. The program utilizes a natural hormone that is produced during pregnancy called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). Dr. Simeons’ theory is that HCG causes the hypothalamus area of the brain to trigger a release of abnormal fat stores. When administered in relatively small doses and coupled with a very low calorie diet, people routinely lose 20 pounds in 30 days.

HCG has helped thousands of people lose those stubborn pounds. In addition to weight loss, many patients who have completed the HCG program also experienced many other health benefits, including a drop in cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.

What is the Hypothalamus?

The hypothalamus is a part of the diencephalon area of our brain. This is the vital part of the brain which controls all of the autonomic functions of the body, including breathing, heart beat, digestion, sleep and the complex functions of the endocrine system. One of the many functions of the endocrine system is regulation and control of your metabolism and weight.

Does HCG work for everyone?

Although HCG is naturally produced only in pregnant women, as a diet aid it works the same for men and women. Most people on this program report losing between 0.5 to 1 pound per day, and claim it is the only program where they have been able to keep the weight off afterward. However, as with any drug or medication, or even with food (e.g., allergies), there is individual variation in its efficacy. Everyone is familiar with the fact that doctors often have to change people’s medications because they don’t respond as expected. So although HCG is effective for the great majority of people who try it, there is logically no promise that it will work for everyone, every time. But you don’t need to worry, because we have you covered with our refund guarantee — unlike doctors, clinics, pharmacies or websites who wouldn’t refund a dime if a treatment or prescription didn’t work. So you can give the HealthyHCG diet a try with confidence in how well it is working, and at the same time you are covered by our guarantee!

What is the difference between homeopathic HCG drops and HCG injections?

Homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world. It has been the primary medical system of choice for a great number of people in other countries for many years, with the allopathic methods being their secondary choice. (Allopathic healthcare is what we have here in the United States, which relies on pharmaceutical drugs and surgical procedures.) Homeopathics have been used for many years to very effectively bring about healing and better health without the negative consequences and side effects that allopathic methods often have. Its popularity in the United States has grown dramatically over the last decade because homeopathy is effective, all natural and safe. There are no dangerous side effects with homeopathic remedies, and they can be taken along with other medications without worrying about adverse reactions.

Homeopathic formulations function on the theory of “like heals like” and that a very small amount of the active ingredient brings about change, because of the unique way homeopathic products are produced. Homeopathic HCG is produced by taking pure full strength HCG and making it into a sublingual mixture through a process of dilution and succussion. True homeopathic products, when tested in a typical lab, will come back negative for the active ingredient because the ingredient actually exists as a unique energy signature or imprint in the carrier liquid that cannot be measured chemically. This is also the reason homeopathic HCG drops will not show positive on a pregnancy test. It is important to realize that physical elements interact and affect each other in more ways than just chemically. Homeopathic products have continually baffled the American Medical Association when they fail in their chemical lab tests, yet are very successful when put to work in the human body. This has certainly been the case with homeopathic HCG used in the HCG diet program.

Another difference is the method of administration. Sublingual HCG drops are used by placing them under the tongue, an area rich in capillaries, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream. Our homeopathic HCG is manufactured in an FDA registered laboratory in the United States, and is prepared per the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States. It does not require a prescription. HCG injections, on the other hand, must be prescribed by a doctor and are administered by a shot into your muscle tissue. The cost of injections obviously is much higher due to the involvement of the doctor and clinic.

How does HCG help me lose weight?

HCG appears to act on the hypothalamus, signaling the body to release stored fat into the bloodstream where it is then available to be used by the cells for nourishment. This alone will not cause weight loss, though, unless you reduce your food intake. This forces the body to use the mobilized fat from the bloodstream. HCG causes the release of abnormal fat without affecting structural fat and muscle tissue. Which means you lose in those stubborn areas–hips, thighs, buttocks and upper arms!

Do I have to follow a special diet while I take the HCG drops?

Yes. You must follow the entire HCG Diet Protocol as described in Dr. Simeons’ manuscript, “Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity”, where he outlines a special 500-calorie-per-day diet that was tested on thousands of patients. HCG is only effective for weight loss if it is taken while strictly following Dr. Simeons’ HCG Diet Protocol, including the 500 calorie diet. Taking HCG alone (without the diet) will not cause you to lose weight. HCG takes effect when you reduce your food intake so that the mobilized fat will be used for your body’s energy needs. If you fail to follow the diet you will fail to lose weight. If you only follow the diet without taking HCG, you are simply starving yourself because there is no fat in the bloodstream to burn. Simply put, both are required. Also see the next two questions.

What food am I allowed to eat?

The HCG diet is balanced, unlike many extreme “fad” diets out there. It consists of a healthy variety of protein, vegetables and fruit, with a small amount of starch. You eat them in specific portions and combinations as outlined by Dr. Simeons. Allowed proteins are veal (low grade), beef (95% lean whole cuts), chicken breast (boneless, skinless), crab, crayfish, lobster, shrimp, and any fresh, white-fleshed fish. Allowed vegetables are asparagus, beet greens, cabbage, celery, chard, chicory greens, cucumber, fennel, green salad, onion, red radishes, spinach, and tomato. Allowed fruits are apples, strawberries, oranges, and grapefruit. Limited starches include grissini (breadstick) or Melba toast. Vegetarian protein substitutions (may slow weight loss) are a protein shake, soy patty, egg (1 whole + 3 egg whites), cottage cheese or fat-free milk.

Why can’t I just go on a 500 calorie diet without the HCG?

In order to answer this question you need to understand how the body stores and uses fat. Dr. Simeons identified three separate fat stores:

1. Normal fat: This type of fat can be likened to a checking account from which the body can easily draw energy or deposit it as needed. Normal fat doesn’t take a lot of effort to lose.

2. Structural fat: Pads the various organs, protects the arteries and cushions the bony prominences. You don’t ever want to lose this fat. It is vital to your health and well being. Yet, on the typical “starvation” diet, this is the fat you lose when the normal fat is depleted.

3. Abnormal fat: This is much like a bank safe deposit box, where fat is stored and basically locked away. This fat is very difficult to lose via exercise and calorie restriction, but with the help of HCG the body readily pulls fat from these “last resort” fat stores.

Bottom line: If you go on a 500-calorie diet without HCG, the body uses the normal fat and then starts to use the structural fat and muscle. Losing your structural fat and muscle tissue can adversely affect your health and well-being. In addition, “starvation” diets without HCG can cause you to be excessively hungry, which is typically not true for those using HCG drops on Dr. Simeons’ special 500-calorie schedule. This is not just a VLCD (very-low-calorie-diet). See next question.

Will I be hungry on the HCG diet?

On HCG, the vast majority of our customers indicate they were either not hungry (unlike other diets where they were starving), or they felt in control and surprisingly little hunger and had plenty of energy. That aligns perfectly with Dr. Simeons’ theories about the fat-releasing properties of HCG; in essence, HCG is helping you get the majority of energy and calories from stored fat instead of only food in your stomach. Everyone is different — and some report mild hunger in the first week as their body adjusts — but it has become very clear that the Healthy HCG diet plan is something very special, something out of the ordinary. It is most definitely NOT just a “500-calorie diet”. In addition, the HCG diet starts with a “gorging” phase, which helps load the body with calories to use during transition into the low-calorie phase. People who faithfully follow the protocol as outlined by Dr. Simeons in our materials, and stick to it will see fantastic results. We encourage you to TRY it (we have a money-back guarantee) and see for yourself.

Do I have to exercise while on the HCG diet?

No. Exercise is not a mandatory part of the program. While vigorous exercise may increase the amount of weight you lose while on this plan, it is not a significant increase and is not recommended, because on a 500 calorie diet you can easily become too exhausted. That leads to discouragement and frustration. However, we do recommend moderate activity for all of the other benefits you receive, including stress relief and cardiovascular health.

If you are already accustomed to exercising at a certain level and would like to continue, do so, but do not over do it. Pay attention to your body’s response. Scale down the intensity of the workouts if: (1) you don’t have the energy to get through it; (2) you start feeling ill or light headed; (3) you gain weight the next day; or (4) you don’t have the energy to get through the day after you work out.

Our suggestion for those who want to exercise is that you walk for 20 to 30 minutes daily. Walking is great exercise and contributes to your health in a variety of ways. It helps relieve stress, keeps the bowels moving, conditions your cardiovascular system, and encourages better blood/oxygen circulation. When you are are finished with the HCG diet regimen and are back on a regular diet you can then pick up the intensity of your exercise routines.

Is Your HCG made in the U.S.A.?

Yes. It is manufactured in an FDA registered lab in the United States. It is prepared according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States. The laboratory has been creating only the highest-quality homeopathic and natural products for over 20 years.

Conventional medical treatment for depression primarily consists of antidepressant medication such as Zoloft, Prozac and Effexor. Some side effects of these medications include headache, agitation, insomnia and sexual dysfunction. Extensive use of these medications in time become less and less effective and require the dosage to be increased in order to maintain the need affect. The FDA has issued warning that these medications may increase the risk of suicidal behavior in patients.

Things That Contribute to Depression

Many times depression may be caused by psychological issues such as a negative life practices or feelings of being overwhelmed or having a bad self-esteem. It can also be caused by physiological issues which include neurotransmitter imbalances, hormone imbalance or nutritional deficiencies.

Naturopathic Medicine Clinical Depression Symptoms Discovery

When someone with depression comes to see us, we want to find out when their depression first started, what their stress factors are, what their daily diet consists of, and to have them fully explain their depression to us. Normally we will order a blood test to check for blood sugar, iron levels and B-12 levels and to check for thyroid function, because an under active or an over active thyroid can look like the usual symptoms of depression. There should also be a blood or salivary test for hormones and cortisol levels. Sometimes we will include tests for urinary neurotransmitters and heavy metal toxicities.

Naturopath Doctor Treatment for Depression

Treating a patient with depression requires a versatile approach. Normally we first have them eliminate processed foods and try their best to convert to a whole foods organic based diet so they can get the proper supporting nutrition they need and prescribe and exercise program to increases the body’s levels of endorphins which are the natural chemicals released in the brain that elevate mood. We then prescribe appropriate nutritional supplements such as calcium, magnesium and B vitamins in order to increase the neurotransmitter levels in their body. If the patient is currently using prescribed medication we normally wean them off of the substance gradually with constant monitoring until their body can support them on the natural lifestyle changes now put in place.
