When I run across really good articles, I always make a note of the location–I just haven’t been sharing them with my readers. However, I’m taking a few minutes now to share some. I expect to share more in a few weeks. Just like in Volume 1, these are presented in no particular order. I hope you enjoy them!

I just wrote an article for Praise-and-Worship.com entitled, Worship with Meditation. This article provides a brief history of meditation in the Bible, a summary of my own techniques for meditating on the scriptures, and an explanation of how meditating on the scriptures can be an act of worship.

Phil Pringle is the pastor of Christian City Church Oxford Falls. Phil prints verses on paper and then meditates on them. As he does so, he writes his thoughts and comments on the paper using different colors and styles, then he posts those thoughts and comments and a picture of his finished work of meditation on his blog. Try this yourself! I’ve been doing it some and it has been a wonderful experience for me.

Week 2 of the “What Works” series by Phil Fox Rose for Busted Halo is entitled, What Works: Meditation.

When I got my first Palm PDA about 9 years ago, the first Bible software I used on it was by Olive Tree Bible Software. They have a wonderful article on their web site entitled, Meditating on God’s Word. You don’t have to use one of their Bible programs to learn a great deal from this article though.

Although it’s a very short post, T.J. Francis has a post entitled Stop and Think… at his The 12th of Isaiah blog, that I think will make you stop and think.

I have a couple dozen more articles that I can highly recommend, but I’ll save those for another day. If you are aware of some articles, essays, or blog posts you would like me to consider for future volumes, feel free to contact me with a link to them.

This meditation is the fourth of a ten part series on The Fruit of the Spirit. In today’s turbulent world, so many people are seeking peace. Unfortunately, many are seeking peace through changes to their circumstances, instead of seeking the peace of Christ in the midst of, and in spite of, their circumstances. In this guided Christian meditation, you’ll contemplate some of the New Testament passages that explain what peace is, how Jesus has given us His peace, and how we can become the blessed peacemakers God has called us to be. Peace is not something we produce on our own, but rather, the fruit of the Spirit is Peace.

We began this series with a contemplative overview of The Fruit of the Spirit, and the next two episodes focused on the fruits of Love and Joy. If you would like to do this particular series of biblical meditations in order, you’ll want to begin with these three meditations. Speaking of peace, you may also enjoy Mindful Worship Meditation #13 – Jehovah-Shalom, The Lord Is Peace. I’ve had an incredible experience with God in my life as He has used the time I’ve spent meditating on these passages and asking the Holy Spirit to produce better quality fruit in my life. I’d love to hear about your own experiences in the comments. (Photo by Alberto Alerigi. Original on flickr. In Paul’s list of the fruits in Galatians, he lists love first. Love is the primary fruit and in fact, all the other fruits are not possible without love. In Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, he listed sixteen qualities of Christian love. In this meditation, you will contemplate these sixteen qualities from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: what they are, how God expresses them perfectly, and how you express them in your own life. The fruit of the Spirit is Love.

Many listeners have asked about a meditation on the expressions of love found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. This seemed like a perfect place to dig into those attributes. I didn’t set out to write a guided meditation that was nearly an hour long, but this passage is so rich, it seemed the only way to get everything in. I hope you grow in your own expression of love as you meditate with me on those passages–I know I certainly have.

In Mindful Worship Meditation #21 – Have Mercy on Me, O God, we examined the first 6 verses as David laments over his sin of committing adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah, and asks God to forgive him. In Mindful Worship Meditation #22 – Create in Me a Pure Heart, we contemplated verses 7 through 12 where David asks God to clean him, renew him, and restore him. In this mediation we see David’s response to God’s grace. He begins by saying, Then I Will Teach.

When I originally began to write the first meditation in this series, I was only going to do a few particular verses from this Psalm. As I meditated on it in my own life though, I realized that every line holds life-changing truth that needs to be seriously contemplated. A single meditation would probably be more than an hour long though, so I decided to present it in a three-part series. This is the last of those three parts. I am now planning to do more series type meditations that will build and elaborate on each other and allow us to go deeper into the study and personal application of God’s Word. Let me know what you think in the comments. (Photo by Anna Gay. Original on flickr. <itunes:summary>This meditation is the second of a three part series on Psalm 51. In Mindful Worship Meditation #21 - Have Mercy on Me, O God, we examined the first 6 verses as David laments over his sin of committing adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah, and asks God to forgive him. In this meditation, you will contemplate verses 7 through 12 where David asks God to clean him, renew him, and restore him. In Mindful Worship Meditation #15 you asked God to Guard Your Heart; in this meditation you ask God to Create in Me a Pure Heart.
This is the second of those three parts. I am now planning to do more series type meditations that will build and elaborate on each other and allow us to go deeper into the study and personal application of Godrsquo;s Word. Let me know what you think in the comments. (Photo by Jennifer Milward. Original on flickr. Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic License)

We all have sin in our lives because we have a sin nature. Although we don’t like to often think about our sin, it is the reason Jesus came and died for us. In this meditation you will identify a specific sin from your own life and then apply David’s words to that sin in your life to help you grow more into God’s image. Have Mercy on Me, O God.

There is a lot of really good information online about Christian meditation and meditating on the Bible. Much of this is in online articles and blog posts. I seek out and read as much information as I can on the topic. Some of what I read is not very good, some of it is really ood, and some of it is great. Here are links to some of the best articles and blog posts on Christian mediation and meditating on God’s word that I’ve read in recent weeks. These are presented in no particular order. I hope you enjoy them!

I’ve been wanting to redesign Mindful Worship for quite some time. When I first started the site, I wasn’t expecting it to grow like it has. Now that it is growing, I wanted to make all the content here more accssible. I also wanted to incorporate a new logo that I’ve been working on. I really like minimalistic and clean web sites and this is reflected in this design. I realize that everyone isn’t like me though and that I can’t please everyone with any site design.

One of the things I think everyone will like are the links to all the guided meditations on the left-hand side.

So, what do you think? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Do you have ideas for improvement? What would you like to see in the site design? What kind of content would you like to see here at Mindful Worship that I’m not already producing? Let me know by posting a comment. This is your chance to let your voice be heard!
