KULIM - Dua lelaki berputih mata selepas empat ekor lembu yang mereka curi terpaksa ditinggalkan di dalam kereta Proton Wira selepas kenderaan yang mereka naiki bersama haiwan itu mengalami kerosakan di Kampung Siam, Sungai Seluang, Lunas dekat sini hari ini. Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Kulim Deputi Superitenden Chin Soo Song berkata kesemua lembu itu ditemui semula pada 7 pagi ini iaitu kira-kira 15km dari lokasi kandang ternakan haiwan itu dicuri, di Sungai Lembu, Bukit Mertajam. "Keempat-empat ekor lembu itu disumbat di bahagian but dan tempat duduk penumpang belakang yang telah dibuang bagi membolehkan kesemua lembu itu diisi di dalam kereta itu," katanya ketika dihubungi hari ini. Pemilik ternakan melaporkan kejadian itu di Balai Polis Lunas pada 5 pagi ini, katanya. "Polis dengan kerjasama orang awam menjumpai semula ternakan itu yang ditinggalkan (dalam kereta) di tepi jalan di Kampung Siam, dekat sini," kata Soo Song. Orang ramai yang mempunyai maklumat mengenai kedua-dua suspek diminta menghubungi Ketua Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Kulim, Asisten Supritenden C. KUANTAN: The Malaysian Under-23 team edged Myanmar 2-0 to lift the Merdeka Tournament trophy at the Darul Makmur Stadium on Saturday.

Striker Mohd Rozaimi Abdul Rahman and midfielder Junior Eldstal found the back of the net in the 28th and 94th minutes respectively to win the tournament for the 10th time since its inception in 1957.

The champions took home RM164,500 and the runners-up picked up RM98,700.

Winger Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor, who was the star of the tournament, deservedly picked up the Most Valuable Player and Man-of-the-Match awards after another excellent performance for the team last night. Rozaimi, who bagged three goals in the tournament, won the top scorer’s award.

National Under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee started the match with Rozaimi and A. Thamil Arasu in attack while bringing in winger Syahrul Azwari in place of D. Saarvindran.

Rozaimi had a nervy start but grew in confidence as the match progressed to combine well with nippy winger Wan Zack who provided him with most of the crosses.

The Wan Zack–Rozaimi combination clicked in the 28th minute when the latter pounced after Myanmar goalkeeper Pyaye Phyo Aung’s fumbled with Wan Zack’s shot.

However, the goal was not enough to subdue Myanmar, who gallantly staged a fightback in their search for the equaliser.

And it kept Malaysia’s defenders K. Reuben, Nik Shahrul Azim Abdul Azim, Mohd Fadhli Shas, Mohd Zubir Azmi and goalkeeper Mohd Izham Tarmizi on their toes for the duration of the match.

Both sides lived dangerously, playing an open box-to-box game without throwing caution to the wind.

It was quite fortunate that Eldstal netted a second goal in added time to send the 25,000-strong fans in the stadium into a frenzy.

In the third placing playoff, Singapore edged Thailand 2-1 to return home with RM65,800 while the War Elephants received RM32,900.

I managed to buy this full complete set for a couple of hundred ringgit at the famous flea market at Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya recently. FYI, Amcorp Mall flea market is held from 10am till late evening, every saturday and sunday.

Hopefully KK will have this kind of flea market in the future..

My first power tool: A Chainsaw!

Recently an old manggo tree fell down due to the strong wind. Cutting it with a parang or even an axe will require a lot of energy and also very time consuming. So we decided to buy a Sweden made 16 inch Chainsaw Model Hugsvarna.

I still haven't had the opportunity to use it other than at the hardware shop but will write about it later with pics included.

Man, this thing is dangerous and need to be carefull!

Canon Printer Error Codes - Help me

Canon Printer

I have been having problems with one of my Canon printers at home and at the office for the past few days. Managed to repair one but the one at home is still displaying error code E05 which is according to mr google is about the cartridge not properly inserted or not detected: You may check the most common Canon printer error codes here:

P02 (Carriage error)

Make sure no foreign material stuck to the print head railway.
Clean and check the print head encoder strip cable (timing slit film or encoder strip is a white line on the back of the box set of ink lines may be missing or mess up the ink.

P03 (Line feed error): an error in transmission line entering the line feed (LF) is a signal telling the printer to move to another line or a whole new line that would not otherwise have reached the end of the line.

Check wire print head position (timing slit disk film) on the side of the machine.
Check PCB logic board.

P05 (ASF sensor error) sensor for paper feed error.

Try to replace the following:

ASF / PE sensor unit.
Drive unit.
PCB logic board.

P06 (Internal temperature error): caused by abnormal heat inside the printer.

P07 (Ink absorber full): the Ink Wastepad (sponge) inside the printer is full

Replace the wastepad inside the printer or install waste ink bin outside the printer
then Reset counter protection.

P08 (Print head temperature rise error): caused by thermal print head temperature exceeds a threshold.

Replace the new cartridge print head and / or change a new logic board.

P09 (EEPROM error): caused by corrupted or defective EEPROM chips of the printer.

Replace the logic board.

P15 (USB VBUS over current): caused by too much current, try removing the USB cable and then plugin again, if solve the error, try to replace with a new USB cable. If the error still exist replace the logic board.

P20 (Other hardware error): The failure of other hardware.

Try to replace the logic board.

P22 (Scanner error): a scanner malfunction.

try to change the scanner unit or change a the logic board.

Error codes which start with the letter E:

E2-2    = No paper (ASF)
E3-3    = Paper jam
E4      = No ink
E5-5    =The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed,or the ink cartridges are not installed properly
E8      = Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full
E9      =The connected digital camera / video camera does not support Camera direct Printing
E14     =The Ink cartridges whose destination are wrong
E15     =Ink cartridge is not installed
E16     =Ink remaining is unknown
E16-E19 = Failed to scan head alignment sheet
E22     =Carriage error
E23     =Paper feed error
E24     =Purge unit error
E25     =ASF(cam) sensor error
E26     =Internal temperature rise error
E27     =Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
E28     =Ink cartridge temperature rise error
E29     =EEPROM error
E33     =Paper feed position error
E35 15 =USB Host VBUD overcurrent error - USB
E37 17 =Abnormal motor driver error

I have search high and low to settle this E05 but to no avail yet.

Gunning for 3rd AE title in 4 years.

WORLD No. 1 Lee Chong Wei coolly marched into his fifth straight men’s singles final of the All-England – with a promise that he’s ready to nail his third title.

Yesterday, the 30-year-old Chong Wei held back his punches but his calm and cautious approach was still good enough to knock out feisty Tanongsak Saensamboonsuk of Thailand 22-20, 21-8 in 33 minutes in the semi-final.

It was his seventh win over Tanongsak in as many meetings. He will face second seed Chen Long of China in the final. Chen Long defeated Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark 21-19, 22-20 in the semis.

BIRMINGHAM: World No 1 Lee Chong Wei stayed solid to march into the men's singles semi-finals of the All-England but all other Malaysians crashed out at National Indoor Arena.
Top seed Chong Wei carved out a sensational 21-17, 21-19 win against Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam in a 34-minute match to show that he was hell bent to nail his third All-England title.
He will take on 23-year-old Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand and vowed to go forward.
The match against Tien Minh on Friday however, could have ended earlier if not for Chong Wei's string of simple mistakes after he had taken a commanding 20-15 lead in the second game. He was not too pleased with it.
"I wanted badly to win the match after all other Malaysians had lost. In my hastiness, though, I gave away several easy points towards the end. I hope to be more focused," said Chong Wei.
On his next opponent, Chong Wei said: "Tanongsak is a qualifier but he has come this far.
“He should not be under-estimated at all. He is an attacking player and I will have to be ready for a strong assault from him," he said.
Tanongsak was thrilled with the opportunity to play against Chong Wei in his first semi-final appearance in the All-England.
"I want to be the next Boonsak Ponsana in my country and I hope to give Chong Wei a good fight. I have never beaten him but I will try this time," said the third year business management student from the National University in Bangkok.
The other men's singles semi-final match-up will be between Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark and second seed Chen Long of China.

I don't know what will happen if there is no more Lee Chong Wei in our badminton scene. He is the lone survivor as usual to fight for titles once again.

Although I didn't play basketball that much during my school or university days, and not to mention my jumper sucks although I have a free throw better than Dwight Howard; I have always love to watch the NBA. My favorite team is none other than The LA Lakers, The Showtime or as we all know it - the team that Kobe Bryant plays in. Since the time of Magic and Kareem although I am not that old yet.

This 2012-2013 year is a bit disappointing because they are currently languishing on the 9th spot one spot behind the playoff spot.But just a few days ago Kobe guarantee that they WILL make the playoff when ask by a reporter.

Miroslav Janu, DOB: November 8, 1959 DOD: 24 January 2013. Age:53

Ex-State Footballer in 1990s - Janu Miroslav died in Indonesia yesterday. The cause of the death is due to heart attack. He was an import player for Sabah Rhinos back in the 1990-93 along with other players such as Michael Vana(striker) and Jaroslav Netolicka(goal keeper). He played in the heart of the defence. During that time Sabah is one of the top teams in Malaysian Football because of the quality import and local players such as Matlan Marjan, Henry Anjun and others.

I remembered he once scored for Sabah from the half way line at Penampang Stadium. How Sabah need someone of his calibre to help raise the game now.

May your soul rest in peace Janu! RIP.

Love your car part #2- Absorber Stopper

Ever since I changed my car's sport rim to a 17 inch wheel. The rear fender at the driver side will hit with the tyre whenever the car hit a bump or uneven road.

So the cheapest way of solving this is to put a 'stopper' at the absorber to make it stop at certain length so that it will not reach the fender.

It is cheap because for rm50 your can solve the problem. Cheaper than changing the spring or absorber.

Love your Car Part#1- Car service 40KM

This is one of the thing that I wanted to do since the beginning of the year. And when a opportunity arises I send my car for service at Kingwell Motor service workshop at Likas. I choose a Mobil 10/40 semi synthetic motor oil that can last 8KM before the next service.

Next stop is to replace the stopper at the rear that is making a lot of noise when hitting a bumper or on uneven road. That is the next story.

Grontel's 2013 New Year gift

I have a cat named Grontel who mysteriously show up late last year and is now unofficially the pet of the house.

Wonder what is her present?Here is a picture for clue:

Yes it is cat cage. We have been thinking to change it to a bigger one because she is such a playful kitten and the old just ain't big enough.

So at least now it is a 2 storey cat cage furnished with a new green coloured litter box.

Part #1 - ASB Loan vs ASB own savings - calculations

This is one of the many question being asked at this time at the year because people are busy updating their ASB book and many of the people I know never and are not interested in ASB loan because they said it is not profitable and only profit the banks. I would like to share this info because I think many of people out there did not have a clear view about the ASB calculations.

Most of the employee at the bank will give you calculation similar to this if you ask which one will generate more profit:

For this example lets assume the ASB saving starts from zero and from the month of January.

Self saving RM300 per month:

Savings per month: RM300
Savings per year: RM300 x 12 = RM3600
After saving for a year the RM300 x 12 will generate a dividend of: RM156
So total cash in hand will be RM3600+RM156 = RM3756

ASB Loan RM300 per month:
a RM300 a month will get you a RM50,000 loan for 25 years period from a bank e.g Maybank

Monthly payment of RM300
After payment for a year the RM300 x 12 will generate a dividend of: RM4000
And if you terminate the loan after only 12 months you will get another (roughly) RM1000 from the bank the amount that you already paid for the loan(called armotization).
So total you will get : RM4000+RM1000 = RM5000

ASB calculation using ms excel

So based on this simple calculation, I am sure if a person can commit to pay RM300 a month for ASB savings then the ASB Loan is a better option because it will generate an extra RM1244.

#note: the ASB calculation is based on a assumed 8% interest p.a based on the lowest balance for each month.
