Big thanks to all the owners and attendees who braved the heat and made it such a success. Thanks to Vinnie and the gang for coordinating test-drives and providing some key motoring tips to use throughout the course.

Local LA music stations and SIRIUS radio provided the tunes for all areas of the festival including the games section, food and beverage area, and MINI market. Fireball Tim had a great set up among the tents which included a portable movie screen projecting videos featuring his customized MINI Cooper designs. Performance biker Jeff Lenosky was also back to give one more jaw-dropping demo for the crowd.

As the MINI Owners returned from the last rally, everyone gathered to celebrate the last day in LA with a great BBQ spread and collect some fun MTTS souvenirs.

Thanks again to MINI USA, event staff, all the wonderful sponsors, MINI clubs, MINI Owners & friends for making this event and entire tour a success. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the road and of course, at the next MINI Takes the States event in 2010. Meanwhile, current MINI Owners met at the UCLA campus in Westwood for a quick breakfast and meet-and-greet before rallying to the festival. The rally to the Rosebowl took Owners through scenic parts of Socal's Pacific Coast Highway, Topanga Canyon Park, and back through the hills over to Pasadena. At the peak of Topanga Canyon Park, Owners got a chance to reveal the "secret password" to redeem special prizes to take along the way...which was both awesome and fantastic.

Upon arrival at the Rosebowl, the energy amongst the crowd remained high despite the rising temperatures. The local bands rocked the Rolling Stone stage while everyone meandered through the festival grounds, participating in the abundance of games and activities, such as the Euro-bungee, the mechanical bull ride, the sumo-wrestler suits, and the National Geographic rock-climbing wall. For the shoppers in the crowd, there was plenty of cool MINI gear and accessories to pick up in the MINI market area. The animal balloon maker, cartoonist, and tattoo artist kept people of all ages entertained throughout the day. One of the most popular tattoos of the day was the MINI bulldog, which found its home on the biceps of several people. Special thanks to all our sponsors, especially the Smart Water tent making sure everyone stayed hydrated with giving away free ice-cold bottles of H2O.

Jeff Lenosky returned once again to dazzle the crowd with his amazing Mountain Bike stunts, and gave away a fabulous bike cruiser for one lucky winner.

But of course, the most popular activity remained the MINI-cross, where both MINI enthusiasts, MINI Owners, future MINI Owners, and curious-about-MINI seekers raced all of the MINI models through the tight turns and power stretches. Everyone lined up to be the first to take off in the new John Cooper Works model to truly put the pedal to the metal.

Towards the end of an action-packed, scorching hot day, the MINI awards were handed out (special shout-out to Chris & Jess who traveled to all 4 MINI Takes the States events and received the "Road Warrior" honor), and Vertical Horizon closed out the night with some great songs, stories, and a big thank you to all the participants and organizers of MTTS.

We'll be back tomorrow for the last day of MTTS 2008! It's gonna be hard to say goodbye...

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SJV0XALAf-I/AAAAAAAAAL8/i90tWR4uGrs/s400/IMG_1187.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230214480792682466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SJV0RBjtd2I/AAAAAAAAAL0/agb46LfW8cE/s400/IMG_1201.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230214378085513058" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SJV0LBO4Z0I/AAAAAAAAALs/SnRCe5uUdZM/s400/IMG_1200.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230214274918934338" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SJV0EmyL1BI/AAAAAAAAALk/OZBx1QUxHtU/s400/IMG_1160.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230214164740035602" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SJVz9X0eSjI/AAAAAAAAALc/A3vO02AlcCU/s400/IMG_1196.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230214040464017970" />

TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS LOS ANGELES PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE’D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 – Los Angeles Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at losangeles.photos@miniusa.com

Friday Night Highlights from LA

MINI Takes The States Los Angeles started off with a bang as MINI Owners and friends gathered for some food, drinks, and a lot of fun at Jillian's Bar & Bowling Alley at City Walk in Universal City, CA. Gina Koutros and Jim McDowell from MINI USA officially welcomed everyone and kicked-off the last stop of the 2008 MTTS tour with a brief introduction and agenda for the weekend.

Downstairs, MINI Owners traded stories and photos of their journeys to Los Angeles while noshing on chips and salsa, hot wings, and pizza. They also kept busy and entertained by the abundance of games to play, including billards, Dance Dance Revolution, Skee Ball, and of course, a car-racing game (no surprise, the favorite among the group.) Everyone also had a chance to admire and take a peek under the hood of the brand new John Cooper Works MINI that was parked right in the middle of the bar.

Upstairs, the party continued as some tested their bowling skills in one of the five disco-styled bowling lanes. Others lounged at adjacent bar, chatting with old friends and meeting new members of the MINI community. One MINI Owner described his bittersweet journey--being able to come out to LA to attend the last MINI Takes The States--but sadly having to leave his MINI behind...in Poland!

Thanks to Czarnowski and Fade In magazine who helped sponsor tonight's event. As "the last hurrah" for MTTS 2008 is underway, be prepared for some exciting MINI-cross action, fun festival games, activities and shows tomorrow and Sunday at the Rose Bowl. It was great to exchange even more motoring stories and memories, and to see how our MINI community has grown over the years. After a last stop at the MINI Market to pick up some MotoringGear and unique MTTS Chicago souvenirs, we hit the road for a rally back to Chicago. Our destination was the RIDEMAKERZ store at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. All participants were able to pick up a free ride to customize. We had a lot of fun putting our cars together and many owners chose to build a mini version of their MINI.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for a fantastic weekend. Hope you had as much fun as we had. A big “thank you” to our many sponsors; this weekend wouldn’t have been possible without you.

We’ll be back in Los Angeles next weekend for our last MTTS event of the summer. Hopefully we’ll see a few familiar faces out West, and safe travels back to everyone.

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SI0VNbMaV3I/AAAAAAAAAKM/Xw04weHcsRA/s400/IMG_0980.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227858062829311858" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SI0VNgaPx7I/AAAAAAAAAKU/0U7uS5_P53Y/s400/IMG_0973.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227858064229517234" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SI0VOB1kr9I/AAAAAAAAAKc/YR3yjS0dXWA/s400/IMG_0975.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227858073202503634" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SI0VORHqv3I/AAAAAAAAAKk/rTQDeCdm864/s400/IMG_0996.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227858077304930162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SI0VOyjB4YI/AAAAAAAAAKs/2wXrxkWeEw8/s400/IMG_0981.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227858086278062466" />

TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS CHICAGO PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 - Chicago Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at chicago.photos@miniusa.com

Saturday Highlights from Chicago

MINI Takes the States 2008 festivities continued today with a day full of sun, fun, action and entertainment, and obviously a lot of motoring – what a blast it was.

We started bright and early at Lincoln Park Zoo with a continental breakfast and all polished MINIs lined up to hit the road. We had the best attendance of all MTTS Rise and Shine rallies so far (we stopped counting MINIs after 350), with many more to join us during the rally and throughout the day. The lions were still sleeping when the police escorted us to scenic Lake Shore Drive. We enjoyed the view and drive… until we hit traffic. Rumors are they were going to repave the road for our rally but didn’t make it on time, hence all the construction sites… This part was less fun than we expected, but MINI owners wouldn’t be MINI owners if they’d lose their enthusiasm so easily. We soon reached Lambs Farm for much needed refreshments and ice-cream. Drivers and their copilots were able to pick up surprise and delight goodies such as awesometastic medallions. Back on the road, the traffic soon disappeared and we had enough road ahead of us to enjoy some serious motoring.

Everyone made it safely to Road America, where many more MINIs and their families were already awaiting us (we ended the day with more than 500 MINIs in the parking lot!). It was time to stretch our legs, eat some food and discover the many attractions for the afternoon. There was a lot to choose from: the rock climbing wall, carnival games, the MINI Market and boot sale, free massages, eurobungee, caricatures, tattoos, the remote-controlled RIDEMAKERZ MINIs… and your chance to send Jim McDowell and members of the MINI USA marketing team for a plunge at the dunking booth.

Jeff Lenosky showed his amazing Mountain Bike stunts on multiple occasions and the Talk to MINI! Video Log Stop provided everyone the opportunity to share some MINI stories and experiences. Many headed to the Go-Karting track and the MINI Cross Course to suck up some curves, especially aboard one of our ferocious street-legal race cars, the John Cooper Works and John Cooper Works Clubman.

One of today’s many highlights was the parade lap on the Road America race track. We did manage to get all MINIs who wanted to participate onto the same lap, and it was great to see that no car in the amazingly long line resembled another.

Back on the festival grounds, awards were handed out the tallest person in a MINI, the Road Warrior who travelled the furthest to our event, the most unique vanity license plate and others. A special award went to Harold Stanfield and his 2002 Silk Green MINI Cooper - 281,899 proud miles were spotted on his speedometer. Keep On Motoring Harold!

Various bands and great live performances were to be seen on the Rolling Stone stage throughout the day. Our headline band today was Blues Traveler. They rocked Road America and provided an astonishing conclusion to this wonderful day.

We’ll be back tomorrow with more action from Road America and a rally to the RIDEMAKERZ store at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL. Our friends will host the last event of this unforgettable weekend.

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIwY9DPzI8I/AAAAAAAAAJk/ECdmrpZrlFI/s400/IMG_0911.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227580704592962498" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIwY9ttDiXI/AAAAAAAAAJs/IeveKja16oM/s400/IMG_0942.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227580715989961074" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIwY94_ZIjI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/HpcoTntBh0c/s400/IMG_0950.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227580719019663922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIwY-JL3JFI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/MsfE_1D_YoI/s400/IMG_0956.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227580723366929490" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIwY-eaO4jI/AAAAAAAAAKE/kM5gkmw9GGk/s400/IMG_0971.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227580729064350258" />TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS CHICAGO PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 - Chicago Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at chicago.photos@miniusa.com

Friday Night Highlights from Chicago

Welcome to the Windy City! The third event of our MINI Takes the States 2008 series kicked off today. More than 300 MINI owners and friends (our youngest participants was just about 6 months old) gathered at the University of Illinois/Chicago Picnic Grounds for a Meet and Greet barbecue and movie night.

After some mingling around one of the first delivered John Cooper Works, everyone filled up on burgers and corn on the cob. Some played beach volleyball, bean bag toss, bocce ball and horseshoes. Once the sun had set, people laid out their blankets and chairs on the grass for the showing of “21”. We saw a few familiar faces from earlier events and it was great to see from how far our owners travelled to join us.

A big thumbs up for tonight’s sponsors, the New Yorker and Czarnowski. The festivities will continue tomorrow morning with our breakfast at Lincoln Park Zoo and the Rise & Shine Rally to Road America, so stay tuned for more coverage.

Hope everyone will have a restful night (some true Motorers were spotted sleeping right next to their MINI in the parking garage) and see you tomorrow…

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIq7Kr0WEvI/AAAAAAAAAI8/1LVpz2DpEX8/s400/IMG_0867.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196109752242930" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIq7Kw1JCvI/AAAAAAAAAJE/Md-RsJFFMcs/s400/IMG_0869.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196111097760498" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIq7LM23tNI/AAAAAAAAAJM/Rhir96Li_9g/s400/IMG_0873.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196118621205714" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIq7LUcFuEI/AAAAAAAAAJU/aNNUelBLLAY/s400/IMG_0886.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196120656361538" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SIq7LkjvNbI/AAAAAAAAAJc/ZEsEkMOEhNI/s400/IMG_0890.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227196124983408050" />TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS CHICAGO PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 - Chicago Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at chicago.photos@miniusa.com

Event Highlights, Photo Gallery & Flickr Group - Flying Finn

FLYING FINN RALLY TRAVEL LOG
Here are some highlights from each day of the the Flying Finn Rally from Miami to Boston:

Day 1: Miami to St Augustine June 15, 2008
Along the way, we stopped at the Queen Mary British Pub, owned by a great couple, Vanessa and Neil, who just happen to be MINI enthusiasts. The Pub was full of English pride and delicious food dishes, but unfortunately we arrived on its last day of business (the pub had been sold).

Day 2: St. Augustine to Charleston June 16, 2008
Today we stopped in the beautiful town of Savannah Georgia and ate at the restaurant named Blowing Smoke which is located on MINIS Street - how funny is that? While having lunch there, we met the mayor of Savannah (who had also stopped by for lunch) and later that night we had kicked back at the BBQ at Patriots Point Park in Mt. Pleasant, SC, hosted by MINI of Charleston.

Day 3: Charleston to Virginia Beach June17, 2008
Of course we couldn’t drive this stretch of I-95 without stopping at South of The Border – you know, that cheesy tourist attraction – looks like it came straight out of a Chevy Chase film. From there we met at the Virginia Beach Convention Center for dinner hosted by Checkered Flag MINI – good times and good friends!

Day 4: Virginia Beach to Philadelphia, PA June18, 2008
Rise and shine! Breakfast at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. From there, all the MINIs lined up and we crossed Chesapeake Bay Bridge with a helicopter taking aerial photos of the cars – We have arrived!
Next stop - lunch at Mallards at the Wharf - known for its famous musical chef, Johnny Mo. Johnny Mo is a famous musician/Chef who is known for his fantastic crab cakes and mussels in Jalapeño Broth – delicious. After a long day, we enjoyed a “Meet and Great” on the top floor of the Sheraton Philadelphia Center hosted by MINI of the Main Line, Otto’s MINI, and PhillyMINI.

Day 5: Philadelphia to Mahwah, NJ June 19, 2008
In the morning, we rallied for a photo opportunity in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum, the famous steps from the movie Rocky. From there we rallied to Prestige MINI in Mahwah and enjoyed a great night of dinner and a movie at the drive-in movie theater in Warwick, NY.

Day 6: Mahwah to Boston, MA June 20, 2008
The Greater Gotham MINI Cooper Dealers hosted us at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel for a great breakfast followed by a rally up to Boston. Driving up the Merritt Parkway is a beautiful ride and seeing 20+ MINIs following along makes it even better…

Official MTTS 2008 Gallery & Flickr Group

TO SEE A BUNCH OF GREAT MTTS FLYING FINN RALLY PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE’D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE RALLY TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 – Flying Finn Rally Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at flyingfinn.photos@miniusa.com (limit of 5 photos per person)

Sunday Highlights from Boston

Sunday's Festivities were a bit shortened by the weather, but not before there were plenty of circuits on the Autocross, festival fun enjoyed and, of course, the Owner prize announcement.

The Road Warrior award went to Jaxon Gluck, who motored from Texas to Miami, and then joined the Flying Finn on the rally up to Boston. Jaxon also joined MINI Takes the States in 2006, and had the distinction -- or rather misfortune -- to be one of a handful of MINIs that was pulled over for speeding. So far he's been ticket-free: let's hope his luck holds for his trip home. Jaxon's picture is below.

The other winners:

I'm Not Afraid to be Noticed: Sandy Bouchieer, who motored all the way from Wyoming in her ladybug spotted MINI

Tallest Person, Little MINI to David Quesenberry, who measures in at 6' 5"

Best Vanity Plate: Shannon Polce, MINIMZE - whose plate says it all.

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic visit to Boston. It was great to see how may local MINI owners came out -- and how many folks like Jaxon and Shannon made the road trip out to join in the fun.

Next stop, Chicago!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SF7D0zA8JnI/AAAAAAAAAIs/kcXt486dO7c/s400/MTTS-sun+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214820730356377202" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SF7D1Xb2qrI/AAAAAAAAAI0/5LJ9UPqCmjM/s400/MTTS-sun+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214820740132940466" />

TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS BOSTON PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 - Boston Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at boston.photos@miniusa.com (limit of 5 photos per person)

Saturday Highlights from Boston

Ah, what a great day to be a MINI owner. The day dawned with spectacular sunshine and a breeze of the ocean. And the sight of nearly 300 MINIs lined up to join the Rise and Shine Rally. A few rounds of "shave-and-a-haircut, two bits" on MINI horns and we were off. A police escort ensured that all of us would be able to head out in style - and together - to the cheers of onlookers and even a few of the policemen. We had a beautiful drive winding up the Massachusetts coast, making our way in and out of cities and towns along the way. And everywhere we went, we got smiles, thumbs ups and reciprocal beeps -- not to mention a few surprised (dumbfound?) looks. Everyone made it to the Glouchester Fisherman's Memorial and then headed back to the Festival.

At the Festival itself, things were buzzing. We had so many MINIs, they had to open up the auxiliary lot! On the Autocross, everyone had a chance to run through the cone course test-driving their "next" MINI -- checking out whatever car they wanted. And carnival games, boot sales and concession stands kept everyone moving.

Providing the coolest vehicle on two wheels was stunt master, Jeff Lenosky with his Mountain Bike stunt show -- unbelievable.

Live music on the Rolling Stone stage provided the driving soundtrack throughout the day, and capped by a lively performance by Fountains of Wayne -- who performed a great set that included their well known hit "Stacy's Mom" and even squeezed in a little tribute to a few legendary Boston performers.

More festivities are planned for Sunday, along with the Owner Awards. Look for the results in the next post!

     TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS BOSTON PHOTOS: Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO! MINI Takes the States Boston has officially kicked off. Tonight's Owner event at F1 was a roaring success. The Flying Finn himself helped kick-off the night's festivities with hundreds of MINI owners. There was food, fun and go-kart racing for all. MINI drivers were a blur on the track. Let's hope MINI owners got all of that aggressive driving out of their systems, or Saturday's owner rally might be a bit challenging!
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFzs9yBFBgI/AAAAAAAAAHs/MksWN8DjuTY/s400/MTTS+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214303014730663426" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFzs-N7mdGI/AAAAAAAAAH0/Fmd49WbHX9Q/s400/MTTS+015.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214303022223881314" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFzs-FmnqLI/AAAAAAAAAH8/J8_gkxKMNGc/s400/MTTS+016.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214303019988396210" />

TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS MIAMI PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 - Boston Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at boston.photos@miniusa.com (limit of 5 photos per person)

Sunday Highlights from Miami

We were back at it on Sunday and all was still rockin' at MINI Takes the States Miami!

The MINI auto-cross and go-karts were a blast all day long as well as the two bands that SPIN Magazine generously provided for the festival. After people had a chance to relax by the Best Life massage chairs, they headed on over to the Euro-bungee, Men's Health climbing wall and Outside Magazine bike stunt demo for some for more fun.

At 12:30, the MINI awards were handed out for five categories of enthusiast. The following outlines our proud winners:
Road Warrior (farthest traveled) - Andrew Sparks
Wild Card - Luis Sanchez
Vanity Award (license plate) - Trace McDaniel
Tall person, little MINI - Joe Jimenez
I'm Not Afraid to be Noticed - Jackie Hardy

MINI also announced the lucky winner of Outside Magazine's beach cruiser bike raffle which went to Olivia Marrero (see picture below of Olivia with Jeff Lenosky - world record holder mountain bike stuntman).

The big finale to the weekend's festivities was sending off all The Flying Finn Rally participants on their journey up the coast to Boston, led by Rauno "The Flying Finn" Aaltonen, who piloted a classic Mini to victory in the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally. MINI owners will be joining the rally all along the eastern seaboard to add to the fun and make their way to the next MINI Takes the States - BOSTON - next weekend.

Hope to see you there!

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFar5-7xxPI/AAAAAAAAAHc/Ec85s2upOO0/s400/MTTS+Miami+168.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212542631362544882" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFamWGjO-_I/AAAAAAAAAHE/KRhVtxX-xyE/s400/Miami+180.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212536517373656050" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFal-D61EgI/AAAAAAAAAG8/S_1-j9LGJuI/s400/MTTS+Miami+246.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212536104350454274" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFalrKLz2fI/AAAAAAAAAG0/PsmS44eT0PE/s400/MTTS+Miami+250.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212535779614775794" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jk7Zx8bqN8o/SFalYDEvXUI/AAAAAAAAAGs/uyTYIJ3dvpA/s400/MTTS+Miami+252.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212535451288558914" />

TO SEE A BUNCH MORE GREAT MTTS MIAMI PHOTOS:
Just check out our Official MINI Takes the States gallery on Flickr

AND WE’D LOVE TO SEE YOUR PHOTOS OF THE EVENT TOO!
If you have a Flickr account, you can join the MINI Takes the States 2008 – Miami Flickr group.

Or, you can email shots (or send via your cell phone) to us at miami.photos@miniusa.com (limit of 5 photos per person)

Saturday Highlights from Miami

The first Saturday MTTS festival was a smashing success! MINI owners and prospects from all over the country congregated at the Miami Homestead Speedway for an entire day of thrilling activities.

The MINI auto-cross was a great way to jump-start the morning with a burst of adrenaline, directly followed by the speedy go-karts next door.

After a tasty lunch, the climbing wall, massage chair and bike stunt demo was a great way to jump right back into the action. Not to mention the caricature artist, tattoo artist and remote-controlled cars which carried us through the afternoon.

All the bands playing throughout the day were amazing, with DJs in between. The highlight of the day for most was the parade lap on the track which was quite a unique experience! They told us 10 mph, but I'm not sure if everyone quite agreed with that philosophy. We took about 4 laps around, got some great pictures and enjoyed hanging out with all the fellow owners as we waited for the big group photo with everyone lined up in MINI fashion.

Just when you thought the day couldn't get any better, famous musical artist - Michelle Branch - took the stage and gave us a fantastic performance, playing all her big songs including "The Game of Love" (the song she created with Santana).

We're now gearing up to do it all over again at the Sunday event from 10-3 back at the Speedway which will be followed by The Flying Finn, sending us on our way up the coast to eventually hit Boston for next weekend!

(Click on the images to see an enlarged view)

<img style="float:left;
