<p><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 11pt;">The secret to social networking success is to keep messages brief, interesting and useful. Try to keep your design so you can read the title from at least a few feet away.&#0160;</span></div>
<div style="color: #222222; font-family: Helvetica; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: -webkit-auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; background-color: #ffffff; margin: 0px; font-size: 12px;"><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: 11pt;">• Consider how your book will be used. In my first MiniBük where</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> the title was simply a photo of me, my story was told and the message of me was spread to</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> venture capitalists, investors and attendees at TechStars Demo Day, the Consumer Electronics</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Show and networking events.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I’m a robot whose life began as a smartphone. Here we meet via MiniBük’s blog so I may</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> communicate to you my story.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I am one of the most affordable, flexible, and smart robots humans can buy. I have come to</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> you from three twenty somethings, Phu, Peter and Keller, who grew up watching Star Wars,</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Transformers, and WALL-E, and LOVE robots.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">These humans formed a tech start-up company named Romotive. They learned to leverage the</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> power of a smartphone’s processor, created apps, and even gave you the power to contribute</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> to my open protocol...to create accessories for my auxiliary ports and develop new apps.</span></p>

<br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">Once you’ve ordered me and removed my parts from the box, here is how we can play:</span>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can be controlled by any smart device anywhere in the world</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can learn new tricks with every app you develop or you download</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can interact with people in three-dimensional spaces</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can change my behavior and personality with the click of a button</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can show you that technology is awesome and even help you learn how to program</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can deliver messages, food and flowers</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can respond to color, voice and faces</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can dance</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can draw with a marker</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can spy</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can photograph what I see…and I see some very funny pets!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I can play with other robots with accessories like claws, scoops or an infrared laser</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I work alone or in companion with another smartphone, iPad, iPod, or with your computer. After you purchase me, you control all the fun I have to offer in the wisdom of your fingertips</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> and with the apps programmed by your amazing brain or purchased from the app store.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">The humans at Romotive were looking for a simple pictorial assembly instruction guide and</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> they found this through the small, compact and personalized MiniBük…that shipped with two</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> thousand orders to Kickstarter backers, investors and buyers who desired to assemble me</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> themselves.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">Some memorable experiences I have enjoyed with humans?</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">A father and son shared me with ten-year-old Ethan, who was confined to bed with illness.</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Ethan put me to use during a family gathering at his home, driving me around and virtually</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> participating with everyone at the dining table from the comfort of his bed.</span> <br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">A young man who </span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">worked in a cubicle filled office fancied from afar a co-worker. To get to</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> know her, he sent flowers to her via me.</span> <a class="asset-img-link" href="http://minibuk.typepad.com/.a/6a013484e11cd1970c016305b39a40970d-pi" style="float: right;"><img alt="RomoMiniBük2" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a013484e11cd1970c016305b39a40970d" height="374" src="http://minibuk.typepad.com/.a/6a013484e11cd1970c016305b39a40970d-800wi" style="margin: 0px 0px 5px 5px; border: 2px solid #ffffff;" title="RomoMiniBük2" width="263" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">I was introduced to a class of third graders.</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Instead of creating classroom chaos, these</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> youngsters intuitively took to my capabilities, asked questions about how I work, and learned</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> first hand about human-robot interaction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">Workers at my factory decided to have some fun and created a way to attach a marker to me.</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Then they programmed me to write “Romo”</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> on a piece of paper. The first one to finish won.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">The humans who invented me have a goal. It’s to build robots that are intuitive to use and</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> cheap enough to afford…and to create a simple robotic platform that does a few things well,</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> enabling them to spark a personal robotics revolution.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">Romotive is attracting interest from </span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;">national companies like Disney, Mattel and Apple and</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> is backed by Stanford University Foundation, Tony Hsieh, David Cohen, David Tisch, Lerer</span><span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva;"> Ventures, PivotNorth Capital, and other stellar investors. <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva;">The Gift Of A MiniBük</span></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">by guest contributor Mary L. Holden, writer and editor</span><br /><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">February 2, 2012&#0160;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;How often does one get to use a centennial celebration to play with literature in a unique way? <br />&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;Answer: every 100 years!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;My birthplace, Arizona, is also the birthplace of MiniBük. Arizona turns 100 years old on February 14, 2012. The literary moment of February 14, 1912 is lost, but in 2012, Arizona is getting a birthday present in the form of a MiniBük containing the art and poetry of two of its native daughters.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;Yavapai: 12 Poems in Honor of Arizona’s Centennial was published in October 2011 by State Farm Insurance as a gift to the National Hispanic Women’s Conference. It features the art of painter Kathryn Henneman (“Yavapai” and “The Weaver”) and a Spanish version of my poetry. A second printing of the book was done for distribution on February 14, 2012 at the state capitol’s birthday party venue. This is a gift to Arizona as well as writers and readers everywhere.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;trebuchet ms&#39;, geneva; font-size: 10pt;">&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;The MiniBük idea is as brilliant as the sunshine that floods Arizona’s landscape. It’s size makes it perfect for single-topic subjects as well as for carrying in a pocket or purse. MiniBük with Business Card is an option for businesses to tell their story in print and offer a business card at the same time. While eBooks are great, MiniBük does not need to be turned on or charged, nor does it take up as many natural resources as the standard paperback or hardcover. <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">In this, my first blog post ever, I deliver to you my paean of passion regarding the role of the MiniBük in our world today.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">------------------------</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Words are what language is constructed from. Without words it would be difficult, no impossible, to be &quot;social&quot;. There would be too many misunderstandings. Too much conflict.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Language evolved to facilitate &quot;sociability&quot;. Education, skill and training in language is required for people to associate concepts with words (without grasping the meaning behind words, words are merely sounds). Once you have the ability to communicate concepts, you can be social. This is what separates man from animal. Language understood is &quot;content&quot;, communication. Spoken language is the original medium of social discourse, or &quot;social media&quot;.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">The limitation of language was that there was no efficient way for people to record and redistribute (share) compilations of good and useful concepts until writing was born in the &quot;Cradle of Civilization&quot; over 4,000 years ago. And since then, all manner of interesting media have evolved in a profusion of sharing techniques for words today:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Sound: Telephone, radio, recordings, etc.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Film/Video (sound+images): Cinema, television, YouTube, etc.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Text: Newspapers, books, email, twitter, facebook, etc.</span></li>
</ul>

<ul>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;"> <span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">Separated from&#0160;&quot;content&quot; (language/words/concepts, understood), each type of&#0160;&quot;Social Media&quot; is defined by its particular functionality (</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">carrier, medium or channel). Its&#0160;function: timing, limitations, restrictions. Each model of communication, or media, has its own unique approach to communication that suits its participants and their particular need for communication. Some function as one-to-one in real time (telephone), some as one-to-many in on-demand delivery (movies), some as one-to-many in near real time (twitter), some as one-to-one or many in a push model (email, USPS), some as a many-to-one in a demand model (web site)...the list goes on.</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;"><br /></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">Social Media today is about self-expression. It is about, generally, the unvarnished (unedited, unvetted, uncurated) perspective of an individual. Citizens of industrialized (technology based) cultures today are, increasingly, using digital social media to communicate. It has conveyed enormous power to individuals to share their unique perspectives with others in many ways. Digital media though, while incredibly&#0160;</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">enamoring,&#0160;</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">alluring and</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">&#0160;</span><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;;">powerful, has limitations:</span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Electricity is required</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Connection is required</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">&quot;Savvy&quot; is required (for each particular type)</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;"> There is a form of delivery, however, that has been around for hundreds of years. The printed word in the form of books. Books benefit from the fact that humans are wired for interaction with their physical environment. Books have physical presence. This single fact is frequently overlooked in the brouhaha surrounding eBooks and other non-physical methods of distribution (social media). The problem with books though has been their physicality! They weigh a lot, they take up increasingly valuable space, they cost a lot and you can&#39;t always have the one you want when you need it. They are a burden! People today aren&#39;t willing to accept burdens to the extent they can eliminate them. Hence the explosion of eBooks.&#0160;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">Enter the MiniBük! The ultimate, burden minimized, smallest, lowest cost, physical, social media you can have or use that does not require a technology device or electricity. It can be shared, accessed, distributed and saved (nearly forever) with the most minimal cost possible. This is high value.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;">And, there is one more thing. The MiniBük has one more important advantage. It is faster to read. A properly written one is single topic and bloviation free. It is written in a clear and concise style, not designed to aggrandize the writer, but to convey most succinctly their perspective or message. It respects the reader and their time. This is what makes the MiniBük special.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: &#39;Trebuchet MS&#39;; font-size: 10pt;"><br /></span></p>
