I’m always on the hunt for new tunes. This new rock and blues celebration by my old faves, The Black Keys, certainly delivers. Check out all of the tracks, but pay close attention to Gold on the Ceiling. That one is a personal favorite, no doubt. By the way, the cover won me over…completely and wholeheartedly. Yes, my friends. That’s a minivan. Booyah!

Okay, there has been a bit of confusion here in regards to the new Muppet movie soundtrack. There are actually two new Muppet CDS. One is called The Green Album and features ridiculously awesome bands covering old Muppet classics. We’re talking Weezer, OK Go, The Fray and so many more tunes that rock.

Then there is The Muppets movie soundtrack. If you’ve seen the movie (if you haven’t, WHAT are you waiting for?), these songs will all be familiar to you. Jason Segal belts it out with Kermit the Frog, the “Moopets” do their thing, and Chris Cooper raps. As my kids would say, this is SO rad.

You want to get both albums. Yes, they are that good. And no, I never steer you wrong. Got it?

I must admit, I had ridiculously high expectations for the new Muppet movie. I grew up with The Muppets. I want my kids to get hooked on Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the posse because of what it represents to me: wacky, silly, good ol fashioned fun.

Nowadays, it sure seems like a great deal of children’s entertainment is trying too hard to be new and relevant. Everything is 3-D, loud, and flashy. Can The Muppets compete?

Thankfully, yes. And they do it in such a stellar way. The music is a tribute to The Muppets of yore, with new indie flavor and sensibility. The screenplay is fresh and perfectly takes off where The Muppets last left us.
Amy Adams, Jason Segal, and Chris Cooper mesh so well with our fabulously felt and furry friends. Seeing Miss Piggy in Zac Posen threads brought the energy level to another level entirely.

I have so many of the song numbers in my head days later. I have to give a specific shout out to: “Muppet of a Man.” Yes, it is that good.

This isn’t a trip down memory lane, this is a new beginning….for an entirely new generation of Muppet Mania. Hop along for a ride on the rainbow connection. Oh, no, I didn’t….

Yes, I did.

I love The Muppets. Always have, always will. Even through space, Christmas follies, and getting lost in New York, I have stood proudly by Miss Piggy, Kermit, and the gang. I still remember the entire Muppets take Manhattan script verbatim. “You hear that New York? The frog is staying.”

Yes. My love runs green. I can’t tell you how ridiculously excited I am to share this movie with the brood. They’ve seen the classics. But this is Muppets for the next gen. I may cry.
