The best place to start this site is to talk about my current ride. It’s a 2006 Harley-Davidson Softail Standard. Of all the bikes I have owned, I think it’s safe to say that this one is my favorite.

This is my third motorcycle. I started riding in 1995 when I bought my first motorcycle, a 1994 Honda Shadow VTX. I soon discovered that this motorcycle was too small for me. I rode it as often as I could, but it wasn’t really that great. I can’t say anything bad about the bike itself, I was just too big for it.

The next bike I bought was when I was dating my future wife. This one was a 2001 Honda GoldWing. This was a very cool bike, and I liked it a lot. The problem with this one was the opposite of the Shadow, this one was too big for riding around tow, when you got out of town it was great. You could ride for hours with no fatigue whatsoever. I had all the bells and whistels. The real intention of buying a motorcycle this large was that my wife and I would go on trips on the weekends. That didn’t really go as planned as she couldn’t get over her fear of the way the bike leans around corners. It’s not really any fun to drive a motorcycle with someone who is uncomfortable with riding on the back. It was also not fun to ride the bike back and forth to work in stop and go traffic. As a result of all this I didn’t ride this bike as much as I would have liked to either.

So I traded in the GoldWing for the Harley-Davidson.

To say that I like this bike would be an understatement. It’s the perfect blend of size and comfort. You can ride all day and commute to work easily. I have changed a couple of things on the bike with regards to comfort; added highway pegs and replaced the stock seat. This is not to say that the stock seat was bad, it just wasn’t good for me. The Corbin seat that I have on there now works better for me and has an integrated backrest which really makes my bad back feel better on the long rides.

So that is a brief history of the bikes that I have owned. I hope to continue to add more to the list in the future.
