After a dry spell of seven years, the 'Outernationale Remix' EP is the first in a series of new releases by Minny Pops over the next year.

The 3-track EP features exclusive new versions of 'Waiting For This to Happen', 'Vital' and 'A Feeling' remixed by musician and producer Derek Miller and is out via Blowpipe.

The EP will be available digitally via all the usual major outlets on Monday 23 September 2019.

Minny Pops feature on an 8LP silver vinyl box set reissue of the 'Factory: Communications 1978-1992' compilation album which surveys the entire 15-year history of the iconic label, with a grand total 63 tracks spread over 16 sides of newly remastered vinyl albums. As well as classic cuts from New Order, Joy Division, The Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Electronic, A Certain Ratio and Section 25, this definitive overview delves deep into Factory's rich and occasionally wayward recorded catalogue, with X-O-Dus, Marcel King, 52nd Street, Quando Quango, Northside, James, The Railway Children, Crawling Chaos and not forgetting Minny Pops all included.

Originally issued as a 4CD box set in 2009, Communications 1978-92 is curated by Jon Savage, with booklet notes by Paul Morley and James Nice.

Lift lid box with 8 x 180gram silver heavyweight vinyl and 40 page booklet, previously released on CD. Limited run of 500 units.

The debut album, originally released in 1979 on Plurex, was re-released as a double-disc CD on 20 October 2014 by Factory Benelux.

Disc one includes nine bonus tracks in addition to the digitally restored and remastered album. This material includes the band's three-track debut EP Kojak; a 2003 remix by Zip and DJ Smacker of Dolphin's Spurt; and 12 minutes of video footage comprising 5 live tracks, recorded at the Amsterdam Filmakademie in 1979.

Disc two features 2 features a complete live performance of the album recorded at Dansmakers in Amsterdam on 11 March 2012.

In March 2014, Factory Benelux reissued Sparks in a Dark Room as a deluxe two-disc 36-track package. Disc one features the original 12-track album and 11 bonus tracks. Disc two is a 13-track live recording of the band performing on 7 April 2012 at the Melkweg, Amsterdam. A month later, Blowpipe Records released Sparks in a Dark Room as a 2-disc vinyl set.

Produced by the band in late 1981, Sparks in a Dark Room was originally released by Factory Benelux the following year and saw the band at the zenith of their powers as creators of driving modern electronic dance music, redolent of DAF, Simple Minds and Moroder-era Sparks. Outstanding tracks include the motorik rhythms of Dream, Tracking, Trance and A Feeling, and eerie, twilit essays such as Black Eye and Vital. All feature Wally's literary, darkly humorous lyrics and ironic 'Gregorian' vocal style. In addition to the entire Sparks… album, this extended CD includes all tracks from the Time and Een Kus singles, the spin-off Smalts EP from 1982, exclusive compilation album tracks and previously unheard demos such as Kogel and Body Language.

"I never wanted to be in a band," recalls Wally van Middendorp, "and my plans were for Minny Pops to be a project with a strictly limited lifespan. I wanted to make a statement, I wanted to release records, and I wanted audiences to hear and face our music - and whether they danced and clapped or got confused and hostile almost didn't matter..."

Recorded live on 8-track with the same line-up that toured North America and recorded the band's Peel session, this 15-track audio CD (released January 2012) captures a group of performers who, despite van Middendorp's best intentions, sound like a powerful, provocative and compelling unit. Like a band.

A 17-track bonus DVD, Live in Amsterdam and New York, includes video footage from performances at New York's Hurrah and Peppermint Lounge, from Amsterdam's Filmacademie, and from the Melkweg gig featured on the audio CD.

Notes

Poste Restante, a play on the theme of travel featuring the actresses Marianne Boyer, Ditha van der Linden and Heleen Verschuren, was first presented by the theatre collective Exota in Haarlem in December 1982. Minny Pops composed and recorded the music for play, and this album was released in 1983.
