For the 4th straight year this father/daughter team once again qualified at the Nationals.  No owner should be so lucky.  I guess you can’t overlook the power of prayer.  Judah has now completed the past 5 Nationals without having to handle on any of the marks.  Ezra continues to bring a level of enthusiasm rarely exceeded by the other dogs when she shows up to compete.

Congratulations go out to “Tillie” for her 5th Master National qualification. She now joins her mother “Indy” on the all time list.  Handling “Indy” was like riding a Ferris wheel, smooth and steady.  “Tillie” is like riding a roller coaster, one wild turn after another.  My favorite quote regarding “Tillie’s” antics at a Master National came from Sam Ferguson several years ago.  After one of her professional creeps on a walk-up Sam came up to me and said “That was close.  No, you don’t understand, that was real _ _ _ _ ing close!”  Thank you to Mike and Dee for letting me ride “Tillie” all of these years.

Chigger joined her father, Quincy, as dogs having qualified at 4 Master Nationals.  Along with her brothers and sisters they have a combined 20 Master National qualifications between them.  Quincy & Indy would be proud of all of them.

Do you want to know what the definition of pressure is?  It is running your wife’s dog at the Master National.  Do you want more pressure?  Have her drive the 3000 miles with you to see her dog run.  “Misty” didn’t let me or Kim down this year by passing for the 4th time.  Hopefully her little brown daughter “Haley” will be equally successful in the future.  Congratulations “Misty”!  You made us proud.

“Loot” started off this past Master National about 10 yards deep in the end zone after handling on a mark in each of the first 2 series.  He finished strong though and was rewarded with his 2nd Master National plate.  Thank you Chris and Stacey for entrusting “Loot” to us for the road trip to Maryland.  I know one of you in particular had a hard time being without your big brown ball of fur.  Congratulations for a job well done.

Gracie is the female to Laney (think her first litter) and looks a lot like her. Jumps like her too. She is a great dog. A lover in my wife Kitty’s lap and a hunting machine in the field. Even at four years old she jumps out of the rig and runs in circles like a crazed pup when it’s time to hunt. She can go all day and won’t quit. Great in the field and on the water. We are getting ready to hunt geese on the Columbia as part of the WA State master hunter program. We get to pheasant hunt at the release sites at Ft. Lewis so she get a lot of work on pheasants. We hunt ducks in Moses Lake and she will retrieve all day for three hunters. She wants to retrieve more than eat a dog bone. Her longest retrieve was while goose hunting in SW Washington. Winged a goose and it locked wings and glided for more than 1/4 mile. She crossed a flooded field and I lost track of her when she went over a rise. I got worried and started to whistle her back but she was too far to hear. About 5 minutes later I started walking out to find her and I saw her come back over the rise dragging the goose which was fighting her. She would stop every 50 yards and get a new grip on the goose and keep heading toward me. She got the bird to me and sat down in the blind waiting for the next round of birds to fly by. Now that’s a hunting buddy.

Gracie was a lot of comfort to me when I was fighting cancer in 2008/2009. She encouraged me to recover so we could go back out into the field. Cancer in remission now and Gracie and I have been playing catch up for the time we lost.

She is the first hunting dog I have allowed to live in the house. And I am glad she does. She was so easy to house train, never has chewed anything but her toys or had an accident on the carpet. She loves to rid in my truck and watch for birds. Gets along great with other people, dogs and even our cat.

I have attached some pic and feel free to use anything you want on your blog. Kitty and I want to come see Laney someday so Gracie can have a visit with her mother. What a reunion that would be.
