This time I came with something new that i never tried. Being engineer we are too busy in our work usually we ignore someone who really cares about us.This time lets impress them by piano.

Time to Impress Girl Friend With LabVIEW Piano

In this I used function generator that generated different frequecies when a key is pressed or cllicked through mouse.

I also used keyboard interfacing block, from this block i get data of key press than using if else condition I generated different frequecy when a key is

pressed.

RSS feeds in LabVIEW

Hi, today I am going to show how to take feeds from site into LabVIEW in this post I will focus only on Yahoo weather feeds.So we will try to learn how to take feeds and get useful data for decision making In this post a complete video tutorial is attached which surely help in understanding.

Instead of making long programs for rss feeds there is library EASYXML jkisoft.com/easyxml/ . You can download demo version of this library and can easily use in your programming. This library also contains example of rss feed but unfortunately it is not working and showing some generic errors.I rectified that error by using HTTP get method.

I further extended that example and tried to take individual data of different fields so that I can remove irrelevant data such as tags etc, tags are remove by using string blocks.

The Challenge

To extract maximum energy from the sun through solar panels and to control and monitor the system remotely in order to check real time progress of power generation and power consumption of the system.

The Solution

Increasing energy production by directing the solar panels to track the sun on its path from dawn until dust, Controlling and monitoring remotely through LabVIEW,Arduino and LabVIEW UI Builder .

Body

As we know that coal, oil, gas etc. are sources of energy today. But the problem is that now these resources are used in a large scale throughout the world .This excess usage will reduce the amount of these natural resources. In order to overcome this problem we need to move some other alternatives like Renewable-energy sources i.e solar panels and extract maximum energy from them.

We are not only extracting maximum energy from solar panels but also providing an effective and efficient system to real time control and monitor the progress of power generation and consumption within the system.Although the monitoring interface uses real time measurement results to prepare the current and voltage graphics,it is also possible to record and reach database file to analyze history of renewable energy source(RES) system. This will also help to increase performance of the current existing solar system also other natural resources of energy such as wind energy .

Smart Solar Web Based Security, Monitoring & Control basically focuses on control and monitoring of smart solar panels. This project divided into two phases. The first phase is based upon research of extracting maximum energy either putting solar panels c in different arrangement (zigzag, triangle etc.) or moving panels along the direction of sun using motors, LDR sensors and CT and PT transformer for current and voltage measurement.In order to meet our project requirement , we selected National Instrument products such as LabVIEW , LabVIEW UI Builder because these products are based on easy programming interface and provides better GUI interface.Also LabVIEW can easily be interface with the external hardware such as Ardunio .

Second phase is about Real Time GUI based remote monitoring and controlling the solar system using LabVIEW, LabVIEW UI builder,Arduino and standard HTTP or TCP/IP protocol. By using LabVIEW webservices monitoring and controlling can be done. Monitoring includes power production, power consumption and power management using GUI interface. Controlling includes remote turn on/shutdown of solar system, remote switching to other available system such as wind energy system etc. (in case failure of solar system).GUI interface using Labview UI builder contains power meters, power production and consumption graphs, indicator LEDs etc. “Solar system on web” can be accessed from any device that support HTTP protocol and controlled by authorized person. Using live online streaming camera solar security can be ensured by using Ustream(ustream.tv ) broadcasting services. Implementation of this project will benefit in terms of protection, operation, monitoring and maintenance of solar systems.

So mainly our objective is to provide a Renewable-energy source system i.e solar panels in which we can not only produce maximum energy than the normal solar power system but also we can control and monitor the ongoing progress of power production and consumption to make the system more reliable, more effective, highly efficient and long running . This is not only providing the alternative of the other sources of energy to overcome their limitation in the future but also it will benefit the whole society in which people are remotely controlling their solar energy system without any disturbance and with proper security.

Other applications are

· Power Production: solar panels for large power production i.e. grid station

· Remote Access: Higher authorities can directly check current performance of system without visiting plant

· Load shedding avoidance: effectively managing distribution of powers maintaining minimum probability of load shedding

· Ubiquitous access: Solar system monitoring and controlling can be accessed from any device that support standard HTTP protocol.

· Just enough Middle layer: Web standards are used and simple URL are exchanged. No other software need to be installed except browser.

Real Time Arduino communication with Browser(LabVIEW UI Builder) using WebServices

Using labVIEW UI Builder now any one can remotely monitor their system. LabVIEW UI builder provides GUI interface through whichwe can give input and take output.
Basically in other demos that are available on net mostely are related to compact rio so at

student level we can afford such devices so one method is using arduino with labview.

With arduino different sensors can be attached and real time data collected by sensors can be tranmitted using HTTP protocol for remote monitering below video shows how an arduino communicates with web browsers.

How to interface Arduino and Matlab

Hi,Today i am going to tell you about interfacing of Arduino and Labview as my previous post was about how to interface Arduuino and LabVIEW .
Interfacing Arduino with Matlab is much more easy than LabVIEW you need just one file to upload in Arduino and one file for Matlab.

Step by Step Startup Guide

Since January 2010 there are 2 basic ways to interact with the Arduino board using MATLAB and Simulink:

MATLAB Interface for Arduino:

Download zip file from here and unzip.
Now open folder pde.
Inside pde folder there are three folders

ardiosrv
motorsrv
srv

open ardiosrv folder you will find adiosrv.pde upload this file into Arduino
At main folder you will find arduino.m file place this file in current working directory of Matlab or extract whole zip file into current working directory of Matlab

Here is sample program for led .

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to photographers from the following countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Applicants must currently reside in their home country. Exceptions will be made for applicants from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan living outside their home country.

Applicants from other countries may also be eligible if they can demonstrate a long-term commitment to one of the designated countries (for example, by having lived and worked in one of the countries for many years).

Professional and emerging photographers are eligible to apply. Photographers who have not specialized in documentary photography will be considered as long as the proposed work is documentary in nature.

Technical familiarity with photography is required. Journalists or activists who have not had experience with photography are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must speak English or Russian.

Participants must be able to attend both workshops (in December 2013 and June 2014) and commit themselves to working and communicating consistently over the six months of the grant term.

Collaborative projects will be considered and applicants from different countries may apply together (in which case each photographer will receive a $3,500 grant).

Purpose and Priorities

The Open Society Documentary Photography Project created the grant in 2009 to support photographers from the region who contribute to civil society by critically exploring current social problems. The focus of the grant and training program is to encourage long-form documentary storytelling that explores issues in-depth and over time, rather than spot news photography. The program promotes personal and professional growth through guided and personalized feedback, project assistance, and professional education. We also recognize the lack of affordable, advanced training programs for photographers in the region. This grant program aims to help locally-based photographers compete in international markets.

We are also committed to furthering public dialogue around issues relevant to the work of the Open Society Foundations. As such, proposals will be carefully judged by Open Society Foundations staff and outside advisors to ensure that the issues are urgent and timely.

The Fund will provide financial support to selected Final Year Projects (FYP) of undergraduate students enrolled in ICT related disciplines like Computer Science & Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Telecom, Computer, and Software Engineering.

National ICT Internship Program 2013

Pakistan Software Export Board in collaboration with National ICT R&D Fund has launched a new internship program titled “National ICT Internship program”. Through this program, PSEB will deploy 800 graduates with 16 years academic degrees who aim to develop a career in the ICT industry. While including ICT graduates the program shall also accommodate not more than 25% of students from the non-ICT discipline.

Objectives:

The goals of the project are multiple. These include;

Meet industry needs for fresh graduates with relevant and latest training in most demanded areas as determined by the industry.

To give an opportunity to the graduates of the country and make them contributing members of the ICT industry & IT department of the public sector organizations. This will be accomplished through a 4 month internship at ICT companies & IT department of the public sector organizations. At least 25% of the interns would be given advanced training in key areas most demanded by the industry before internship placements. ICT companies & IT department of the public sector organizations would be given an opportunity to nominate the interns out of the selected ones for the free training program duly offered by PSEB.

So Which is Better: LabVIEW, or C?

“Why is LabVIEW better than C?” As a LabVIEW Product Manager, I get asked this question a lot.
Honestly, it is the wrong question to ask. It becomes a valid question with a little nuance and application context (for example, “Which is better for this task, under these constraints?”). Without this detail, it’s like asking why bread is better than flour.

If you want to build a measurement or control system, then NI LabVIEW system design software is a tool that can save you the risk, expense, and inconvenience of building your own from low-level languages like C. I’m not suggesting that LabVIEW is a “better” programming language than C—especially considering that large portions of LabVIEW are written not only in G but also in C and C++. Rather, they have different strengths that programmers should understand to succeed.

How is LabVIEW like bread? Read on.

The relationship between LabVIEW and C is similar to bread and flour. If you want to make a sandwich, start with bread. If you want to bake a cake, start with flour. Baking bread with flour from scratch can be expensive and time consuming (especially if you just want a quick snack), but when it comes to a cake, flour is essential. Similarly, you might find it challenging to decide which programming language is best for your task. It comes down to using the right tool for the right job.

C Gives You Low-Level Control

C is often better for applications with tight resources that must be closely managed. Since C is a relatively low-level language, it forces you to consider and specify even the smallest details, such as memory assignments and threads. A good programmer can use this low-level of control to eliminate the overhead in most higher level implementations. At this level, you can also take advantage of target architecture or host operating system properties to achieve greater performance.

NI programmers wrote most of the LabVIEW libraries in C or C++ for this reason. Operations like file I/O and analysis are as fast in LabVIEW as they are in C because they are written in low-level languages and optimized for each of the platforms and operating systems that LabVIEW supports.

Efficiency Versus Control
At some point, developer efficiency trumps the need for hand-optimized code. Relinquishing a little control to stand on the shoulders of those who have solved similar problems can benefit many projects in terms of quality productivity. Programming languages are constantly progressing toward higher levels of abstraction. This helps you focus on the problem at hand instead of the minutia of the computing.

LabVIEW: For Parallel Execution and Real-World I/O
No matter what the implementation language, high-level system design and low-level implementation must inevitably split.

In measurement and control applications, programming is just one task of a system designer. Engineers often don’t have time to keep up with or rewrite old software to support the advancements in computing and measurement hardware, operating systems, and so on. They add value by figuring out how to acquire, manipulate, and present real-world data—not by coming up with new ways to handle memory allocations and thread pools. By using LabVIEW, you can build on top of tested, supported, and maintained libraries of lower level code from NI. Choosing C means you’ll need to implement, support, and maintain your own lower level libraries or purchase them from a vendor (NI offers NI LabWindows ^™/CVI software and NI Measurement Studio for this use case).

Syntax-wise, C is optimized for sequential execution of instructions as fast as the CPU can handle them. This is perfect for pure computation, when only one task is being executed and instructions are more basic. The graphical syntax in LabVIEW, on the other hand, is optimized for the parallel execution of tasks that have real-world timing constraints.

LabVIEW allows you to skip building a foundation and go straight to customization.

LabVIEW is more than just a programming language and associated libraries. When you use the LabVIEW integrated development environment (IDE) with 3^rd party NI hardware, you get a development experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. The software is aware of available hardware resources and can present available I/O channels and execution targets as drop-down menus and project items. You can prevent or catch incorrect configurations during editing, to avoid costly, hard-to-debug runtime errors. Next-generation measurement hardware (such as the NI PXIe-5644R vector signal transceiver) even allows LabVIEW to redefine the firmware of the hardware to reach performance levels that traditional, distinct programming languages and instruments can’t.

Too many projects end up late or over budget because people underestimate the efforts required to stitch together parts from disparate sources. When you use LabVIEW, your hardware drivers return data in the same format as the analysis libraries consume, your UI widgets display technical data in the same format that the analysis libraries produce, eliminating the need to piece together components.

So Which is Better: LabVIEW, or C?

The answer might as well be “42.” To draw from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the answer isn't meaningful until you know which question you are asking or what problem you are trying to solve. LabVIEW and C are both useful tools that, in the hands of skilled users, can solve almost any problem: LabVIEW tends to be better for high-level test, measurement, and control applications, and C is more apt for lower level implementations of computationally intensive tasks.

The next time someone asks you whether LabVIEW trumps C, feel free to answer “42”. It may be the only response that will get the discussion heading in the right direction.
