Durante las vacaciones de Navidad es típico recorrer el centro de Madrid, así que el castor Brandon decidió dar un largo paseo. Aquí está en la entrada de la Plaza Mayor
During Christmas Holidays it is typical to walk around the hystorical centre of Madrid, so Brandon the beaver decided to give a long walk. Here he is standing at the entrance of Plaza Mayor

Justo antes de entrar a la Plaza Mayor hay una tienda preciosa con muuuuuchos dulces. Mirad qué osito hecho con muchos mini-ositos de gominola :)
Just before entering to Plaza Mayor there is a beautiful store with lots of sweets. Look at this bear made with lots of mini-gummy bears :)

Hoy Jolly Lovely va a preparar una estupenda cena vegetariana. Ingredientes: 200 g de zanahorias ralladas, 1 cebolla, 250 cc de leche, 100 g de harina, un huevo, pan rallado, sal y aceite de oliva
Today Jolly Lovely is going to cook a yummy and vegetarian dinner. Ingredientes: 200 g of grated carrots, 1 onion, 250 cc of milk, 100 g of flour, one egg, breadcrumbs, salt and olive oil

Rallar la cebolla (no lloréis mucho, jejeje)
Grate the onion (don't cry so much, hehehe)

Sofreírla lentamente en un poquito de aceite
Fry it slowly in a bit of oil

Añadir un poquito de sal
Add a bit of salt

Cuando esté transparente, añadir la zanahoria
When the onion gets transparent, add the carrots

Añadir la harina. Freír durante 10 minutos
Add the flour. Fry it for 10 minutes

Cuando veáis que la harina está tostada, añadir la leche
When the flour gets toasted, add the milk

Remover la mezcla continua y lentamente durante por lo menos 15 minutos
Remove the mixture continously and slowly for at least 15 minutes

Notaréis que está lista cuando la bechamel se pueda despegar fácilmente de la sartén
You will realize that the mixture is ready when the bechamel can be taken off easily from the frying pan

Dejarlo enfriar por lo menos 2-3 horas en la nevera
Let it get cold for at least 2-3 hours in the fridge

Amasar las croquetas y mojarlas primero en harina, luego en el huevo batido y luego en el pan
Knead the croquettes and dip them first in flour, then in beaten egg and finally in bread

Ya están listas para freir
They are ready to be fried

Freirlas en aceite de oliva despacito
Fry them slowly into olive oil

Durante las vacaciones, Girafa ha podido visitar muchos monumentos. Esta es la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Muela, en un pueblo medieval llamado Monteagudo de las Vicarías (Soria), de estilo gótico (siglos XV-XVI)
During the holidays, Giraffe has visited a lot of monuments. This is "Nuestra Señora de la Muela" church, sited in a medieval town called Monteagudo de las Vicarías (Soria), of gothic style (15th and 16th centuries)

Este es el castillo de Monteagudo de las Vicarías. Lo mandó edificar Juan Hurtado de Mendoza en la primera mitad del siglo XV. Es de estilo gótico-renacentista y fue muy importante en la Edad Media porque se situaba en la antigua frontera con el Reino de Aragón

Antiguamente en la entrada de los pueblos, se colocaban estos pináculos con la imagen de la Virgen o de un santo, para que protegiera al pueblo de los malos espíritus
Finally Giraffe arrived to the province of Aragón. This is a town called "Torrehermosa". Look where she has climbed up!!! She is on a pinnacle dedicated to Saint Pascual Bailón. Formerly at the entrance of the towns, these pinnacles were sited with a image of the Virgin Mary of some saint in order to protect the town against bad spirits

Hola de nuevo, amigos!!! Ya hemos vuelto de vacaciones (*snif*). Este verano hemos estado en Soria, donde tenemos una casita en un pequeño pueblo. Allí nos lo hemos pasado muy bien y hemos disfrutado de la paz del campo, lejos de la gran ciudad, y hemos hecho muchas excursiones en moto! Espero que os gusten las fotos :)

We've had a very nice time there and we have enjoyed the peaceful countryside, far away from the big city, and we've made a lot of excursions by bike! I hope you will like the pics :)

Hoy cocinamos pollo con dátiles - Today we cook chicken with dates

Ingredientes: !/2 kg de pollo, dátiles, azafrán, 1 cebolla, cuatro cucharadas de aceite de oliva, sal, pimienta, canela en polvo y 1 vaso de vino blanco
Ingredients: 1/2 kg of chicken, dates, saffron, 1 onion, four spoons of olive oil, salt, pepper, ground cinnamon and a glass of white wine

Primero, cortad la cebolla en trozos pequeños (si no queréis llorar con la cebolla, mojad primero el cuchillo con vinagre)
Cut the onion into small pieces (if you don't want to cry when cutting the onion, first wet the knife with vinegar)

Cortar el pollo en tiras y añadirle sal y pimienta
Cut the chicken into strips and add salt and pepper

Cortar los dátiles en trozos pequeños
Cut the dates into small pieces

Freir la cebolla lentamente en aceite de oliva durante 10 minutos
Fry the onion slowly in olive oil for 10 minutes

Añadir el pollo, los dátiles, un poquito de azafrán y la canela
Add the chicken, the dates, a bit of saffron and the cinnamon

Añadir el vino blanco
Add the white wine

Cocinarlo lentamente durante 20-25 minutos
Cook slowly for 20-25 minutes
