Mum brought Christmas cake

My personal holiday favorite - English style Christmas Cake - basically fruit cake (raisins, currants, sultanas in a thick batter) topped with marzipan and royal icing. Yum! Memories of Christmas' past. (Our Wedding cake was this style as well.)

Outpost Night

Got a chance to play the new edition of Outpost with 5 people this evening. Used the old board for some nostalgia feel. We now all remember that the math is a headache in Era III. My wife won with a total of 95 (she ended the prior turn at 73 and the refill rolls were all small stuff, like Ecoplants, so she grabbed Robots, restocked a bunch of factories and clobbered us).

Noodle disappeared for most of the morning. I finally found him hiding from the mayhem under the Christmas tree as if he too were a present. But, silly Noodle, you were last year's present. :)

Now with a new base (white felt on foamcore), we have our Lego bakery and toy store sets. Next year perhaps we'll be able to get the post office.

The final leaves of fall have begun their descent to our yard. Fire has touched the bush by the garage door, the last to succumb to the transition to winter. Halloween on Monday, Thanksgiving in the near distance.

Despite the usual morning running in circles, Noodle manages a moment to rest on one of his favorite perches, the love seat (hence the blanket on top - we spot the house w blankies in his favorite perches - guess we love him *that* much).

I saw in Meijers a cat perch that attaches to a window by suction cups. Looks fun but feels like a recipe for disaster or at least falling cats ...
