IF you are getting tons of random emails due to the Aromaleigh forum upgrade, HELP IS HERE...!

Dear Aficionadas,

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the overwhelming number of emails you're receiving. I had the same problem initially, and after much hunting in my user controls, I discovered that you can set notifications to receive exactly what emails you receive from LiveCloud or the Aromaleigh Aficionadas Channel. You can set it to receive NO emails.

I most importantly want you all to understand that the same company that you signed up for the original Aromaleigh Aficionadas forum is the SAME company that we are now using- the company is SOCIAL STRATA. The only thing that has changed is that we upgraded our forum software/platform, and, a MAJOR technical glitch occurred when they did that, resulting in ALL of your possible email notifications being set to "on". You can turn these all off easily.

Moving the forum has been a real learning curve, and I'm finding out little by little what the problems or technical issues are so that I can try to make this experience less frustrating for all. I certainly do not wish for any customer- and especially not a very valued customer of 8 years to have this type of bad experience. I did not know that Livecloud would be sending a lot of emails via this glitch/monstrous technical issue, but there IS a definite solution to this, so you won't receive any emails and you can still check in with the forum without any hassle.

LiveCloud is a network, and Aromaleigh Aficionadas is a channel on the network that you are a member of (and WERE a member of, as you signed up for Aromaleigh Aficionadas at some point in the past). As LiveCloud grows, the concept is that users can be part of any channels or groups that they choose, yet maintain their very own profile and personal page.

For example, here's my personal profile page:

I've only done a little bit of personalisation with it- added a profile picture, some links to my Aromaleigh networks, and imported my Twitter stream.

Here's how you can manage the email notifications that you receive:

1. From your profile page (logged in), click on the tab that says "PROFILE" in the menu items on the left-hand side.

2. This will open up your current profile information. In the upper right, it says "Edit your Profile" and has a little tablet icon next to it. Click on this icon.

3. This will open up to a page where you can change your personal information and control the way you experience the LiveCloud network.

4. To the left, you will see a longer menu, and the following:

Manage your Stuff

> Settings
> Edit Profile
> Manage Posts
> Permissions
> Notifications
> Moblog Info
> Social Accounts
> Premium Memberships

CLICK ON "NOTIFICATIONS"

5. A new window will open, with this heading at the top
"Manage Your Notifications
Let Me Know About..."

Here on this page, you can UNCLICK notifications you are currently set up to receive via "Instant Email", on the far right. Wherever it says "Instant Email", you will want to unclick the radio box to discontinue your receiving that data in your email.

I have mostly ALL of them unchecked, except for a few that are important for me as the administrator of the forum, to have.

6. At the bottom of the page, click "UPDATE NOTIFICATION SETTINGS".

This will update your changes and the emails should stop. I am not sure if it happens immediately or if there is a time-lag, but they do stop (I know, they stopped for me, thank goodness!)

I have alerted the technical director and CEO of Eve/Social Strata about this problem and the effect it is having for my company, and how upsetting it is for customers and forum members to be suddenly bombarded with emails like this.

Please understand that I take these issues very seriously, and I will be posting this support ticket response on the forum and my wall and blog, as well as posting it to the Social Strata Support forums.

I am sincerely sorry that you've been hassled with this and I hope that you will rethink your decision about Aromaleigh. I value you as a customer very much and I don't want to lose customers over things that are a result of things out of our control, that I did not know would happen.

I knew I'd have to face the leftovers from the painful "cuts" taking each LE collection from 20 shades to 14... so today I took 6 boxes ta few days ago and compiled their contents down into one large one... but the many bags of eyeshadow colors left from the collections' retiring made me think of what would be the best way to offer these? Garage Sale style!

Let's face it- I don't have time to program the site with each one of these, photo, description, details, price, etc. So this is a forum-style sale, similar to what you see on swap boards. I list what I have, and you list in a reply, what you want to buy, along with your paypal address, etc... I then invoice you and update the list inventory, update your status in the main post, and we work that way...

UPDATE: I went through a BUNCH of other boxes in our storage area and I hit a few more mother lodes... most interestingly, a collection called "Midsummer Night's Dream"??? I have small jars of all of the colors, at least enough to package 20 jars. I had NO idea I had these, the box was unmarked and you can imagine how shocked I was when I uncovered this treasure trove!!

We're going to be making the move to the new LiveCloud channel today at 7:00 PM eastern. The site will be closed for approximately 2-3 hours to complete the task. After the migration the old site will, for a time, redirect to the new site automatically in order to give people time to change their bookmarks.

When you go to the new site you'll see two options at the top of the page. Login or Sign Up. Please don't sign up again, as, you are already registered. Please click Login. Use the same login that you use on the current site. Remember that information was emailed to you recently to make things easier for you. If you deleted that email or have forgotten your password click Sign In, and use the lost password link, a password will be email to you.

If you are logging into LiveCloud for the first time you'll be asked to complete your profile and to accept the Terms of Use.

It is important to know that the system asks your age for two reasons. We need to make sure you're not a minor, and we want to send out birthday greetings. We never, ever display your birth year to anyone, and you have the option in your personal privacy settings of hiding your birth day as well.

Once you are in LiveCloud, if you're lost click the LiveCloud logo at the top. To find your profile click Your Site or Manage Your Stuff. To find us click Explore, then Channels, then our name. Don't forget to bookmark us!

ALSO... if you try to log in while we're actually doing the import they might not be able to, their profile might not have yet been imported

True story. I'm listening to it right now!

* Right now, they are working on their second album, which will be released later this year... I'll be sure to post tour dates and information when they become available!

Lip product status report, the state of discontinuation...

On 3/3, I announced the discontinuation of Aromaleigh lip products, including balms, lipsticks, lip tints and color cremes. While I typically provide advance notice followed by an extreme level of detail justifying the decision (believe me, it's tough knowing that I am disappointing you!) , this decision was made swiftly, although we had long been battling difficulties with the lip products, discontinuing our third generation of lipglosses just a few months prior...

Sales volume has been high in light of the announcement. Ironically, the increased sales volume is what target sales would have had to be for us to maintain this product in our inventory. However, when a product comprises 2% of your total sales and requires the most labor, cost and time to produce... companies have to make tough decisions. Historically, I've made multiple attempts to make lip products "work" for Aromaleigh. But the many introductions and discontinuations over the last decade+ have proven the difficulty in keeping the product viable, continuously fighting against low sales and natural ingredients with an unforgiving shelf life.

I wanted to let you all know that we have spent the last 4 days (weekend too!) pouring every last ounce of ingredient to boost inventory as much as possible and give you a chance to get your favorite lippies. Especially the balms, which seemed to have the most sadness associated with their departure.

Inventory is VERY low on the Gothic Lolita color cremes, Bete Noire Color Cremes, most lip balms and lipsticks. Lip tint inventory is somewhat higher, as the Rocks lip tints are our slowest sellers of all (which is why I put them in this bi-weekly sale!)

The Gothic Lolita color cremes will soon be gone. Melancholia, Shortcake, Cakewalk, Lollypop are totally sold out, and there are but a few Wallflower and Pinafore, and about a dozen Creampuff and Sweet Tart.

We DID make new batches of all of the lip balms that had been out of inventory for a while- such as Sugar Plum Fairy, Key Lime Pie, Minty Cocoa Chip and several others.

While this all may seem that it was a brusque decision, it's been in our thoughts for a while. It was only when I recently had a creative fire-starter session with Danielle LaPorte, of White Hot Truth, that I was awakened as to what it would take to have a succcessful business AND my sanity. In Danielle's words, "RADICAL change". I found her blog about 6 months ago, and I blogged about it. Her blog postings have been impacting me profoundly, and so did our 1.25 hour session, which I luckily have as an mp3 file to refer back to.

Early in 2010, I vowed that 2010 would be a year of great change, but radical was not a word I would have chosen. Well, Radical and awesome is what it will be. Because the changes taking place may be uncomfortable for both you AND me... but the results will be overwhelmingly positive and future-forward.

I intend to be here for a loooong time. Are you along for a journey, or do you just want to pay your cab fare and walk? It's up to you, AND me...

Now... freedom of choice is something that you all <3 when it comes to your 3 free samples with order! But... we found that the process of adding the 3 free samples to each order after we filled it has added about 2 hours on to our daily order processing time (multiply that by 3 employees and just imagine how much we could do with that 6 hours of girl-power!)

So, I set to work trying to find a way to get your free sample choices ON to your shopping cart, so that they would come through as items we had to pull from inventory at the beginning of the day and have on our work table, ready to quickly and easily add to your orders.

Solution? One single page with a drop-down menu that includes every eye color, and also, the swatch charts for each collection, HERE.

I have the value of the item code set at $0, so you can choose your 3 and not be charged for them or have them affect the shipping rate for your order. The system has never allowed me to set the value of something as $0 before, so I took this as a positive sign!

The only con is that I am unable due to the limited page layout/programming customization of Yahoo store to get the drop-down menu and "buy now" button at the top of the page. So, you have to SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BOTTOM... and there you'll see the drop-down menu.

If I made the samples worth a penny, I could have the drop-down menu at the top, but I fear that would cause mass chaos and we're trying to make things more efficient here at Aromaleigh, while still being able to offer you the choice to choose.

There is no longer a comments box on the order form, as the only reason it was there was so that you could type in your free samples.

As always, please make sure that you proofread your order well, as there are no changes or substitutions once your order is placed.

#3: A new batch of 2-week sales was published yesterday, and lots of good stuff in there! These are running through 3/19. Since shop will be closed within a few days of those sales ending, a new set of 2 week sales will not be posted until we re-open on April 5th. These will run through 4/16. With the current set, all of the powder product discontinues are included under the RADICAL25 discount. I'll be posting the entire sale details soon, but in the meantime, check out the goods, HERE.

#4. Discontinues. Yes, a heated topic. Every beauty company discontinues products and brings in new ones. Product discontinues are made as business decisions, based on numbers, sales, percentages and good sense. They are something that every company does because a product does not sell, is not profitable, ingredients are no longer available, or they simply want to reformulate and improve the product. The current discontinues are located HERE.

These are occurring because they cost too much to keep in inventory in comparison to their profit/sales figures (such as certain third party products), or they are original line-up (10+ yrs old!) Aromaleigh products and their sales have flat-lined or gone backwards. The lip products are causing the most upset, I read. But reality and good business sense dictates that you can't keep products in your inventory that comprise 2% of your total sales and a negative cash flow because you have to give away a free sample with each order, and over 1000 free lipsticks with coupon in 2 years, and 25-50% of every batch has to be thrown away because the small batches (50 per color) sell so poorly that they start to go "off" and must be thrown out. Add on to that ingredient, packaging, label, formulation, labor and the effect that the in-house production of lip products has on Aromaleigh's functioning, and there's not a single good business reason to keep a single lip product in stock. Not one.
Businesses must remain viable and constantly evolving to grow and stay in line with the demands of the market, especially if they want to stay in the game.

#5 NEW CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT TICKET SYSTEM! This is a huge improvement here at Aromaleigh. All of your customer support queries will now be turned into support tickets via our new Zendesk online help ticket system. It's easy and you rest assured every step of the way knowing that your communications were received and responded to, and you can easily view it all online with your support ticket link.

Fill in the fields- an accurate email address is essential for this to work. If your email address is wrong, we will not receive your request.

Click "Submit Query" and you'll see a confirmation that your messsage was sent:

From this point, you will receive an email indicating that we have received your suopport ticket, and instructions on how to view it online. We will receive a notification as well! Every step of the way, you'll receive notifications that your replies were received, and when information is waiting for you within the online ticket from us. No more back and forth, piecing together emails, lost emails, etc, etc... each customer query or customer service issue will have it's own specific support ticket and will be followed through upon and closed upon resolution.
We've tested the system and everything seems fine now, but as with all new things, there are sure to be some kinks that need to get worked out of the system. We'll work hard with you to get this wonderful new system working and greatly appreciate your patience as we learn to use the system and it's large array of features.

We know you won't necessarily be happy with all changes, but we want to assure you that the changes that we are making are for the long-term health and viability of Aromaleigh the company and most importantly, the people behind Aromaleigh. Here's a quickie webcam shot (I know you love my Hello Kitty Robe) of my top 6, not including the obligatory kabuki or flocked sponge...

From L-R, you've got a round eye-buki type of brush, a medium sized flat shader, a small flat shader, a small pointed round, a fiber optic flat top and a larger, flat and tapered fiber optic face brush. My kabuki of choice is our Faux brown super softie.

But on to the brush lust...

Years ago, I carried these adorable brush kits from Japonesque that came in several colors, and all fit inside a round, matching tube... (they sold horribly, oddly!)

But yes, I lately have brush-envy. I have to admit that it came out in the open when I ordered Tarina Tarantino's hot pink brush set from Sephora (which I did purchase, I have to admit...)

And it started months back in Italy, when I spied these vividly-hued brushes at the Sephora in Arezzo.
