Personal Facebook Profiles vs. Business Profiles?

When you first join Facebook you are given a choice of opening a personal or business profile. If you've joined Facebook for marketing reasons you may think a business profile is the way to go. Wrong. A personal profile is most likely your best bet. A business profile is for people who want to manage like pages or advertising campaigns. If this is all you are looking to do, then by all means, open a business profile. If you want to generate traffic, then a personal profile is what you want.

A business profile does not allow you to add friends. You simply cannot send or receive friend requests. Business profiles are very limited. If you ONLY intend to manage Like pages, then yes, a business profile is for you.

Otherwise, open a personal profile. You can manage everything, including like pages, and advertising with your personal profiles. Be aware that having more than one FB profile is against their TOS. Better safe than sorry - open only one account

I'm not sure why I didn't consider monetizing some parts of my sites with Superpages.com. To be honest, I was not aware they had an affiliate program called LocalServe.

Recently, I discovered this local directory affiliate program while working on a new project with a friend. This is how I realized that the Superpages affiliate program would be a great fit for one of my sites.

This affiliate program is a good fit for any sites that are either focused on a specific geographic region or somehow help visitors locate businesses.

My site for example, is a bad credit car loan website that helps consumers with bad credit find an auto loan. It was a great fit for me -- this program allowed me to offer my visitors the ability to search for local car dealers.

Developing websites may have once been a challenge for most people... even the tech savvy. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore. With free website builder companies like Weebly and others on the rise, practically anyone can build a decent looking website in a matter of minutes.

There's one new company I just learned of today that allows you to create nice looking, optimized websites in a matter of minutes. You can create your site with their easy to use drag and drop editor.

The best part is how easy it is to monetize the site. Affiliate programs and CPA, CPC and other ads are built into to the drag and drop editor, making this one fantastic way for folks to get started in affiliate marketing. They also allow you to add your own affiliate marketing codes.

I recently got an email from my sister-in-law who just last week started a new blog. I was so excited to see her join the blogging world --- I think she will be absolutely great at it. She added Adsense ads to the blog hoping to make some extra cash off her blogging efforts.

Unfortunately, she didn't read the Adsense TOS and made the number one Adsense mistake -- she asked people to click on her ads. As soon as I received the email, I wrote her back to let her know. Who doesn't make mistakes when they first start out right?

Making money with Google Adsense is a great way for newbies to get started with online marketing. I highly recommend it, even if just as a part-time effort. If you enjoy writing and hate the idea of having to sell something to someone you don't know, then monetizing a blog with Adsense is probably the best bet for you.

But what to write about? Well, you can write about whatever it is that you enjoy or know most about. However, be warned that some topics will not generate much money with Adsense. I suggest you do your research before you start off. You want to make sure you put your efforts into something that will be both profitable and fun for you.

Do some research on the top Adsense keywords to find out which topics are in high demand. You might also want to look back in time, to make sure you pick a topic that has longevity. You certainly don't want to put all your efforts into a temporary fad.

As a Twitter user, I can understand why people would be annoyed to receive ads from people. It kind of defeats the idea of the whole thing. That being said, I can also put myself in the shoes of the advertiser and see the huge opportunity to reach targeted prospects.

Mass Unfollow on Twitter

Yesterday, I wrote a post about how to unfollow people who don't follow you back on Twitter. I listed several sites that can help you identify those people who aren't following you, but to my knowledge none of those services offered mass unfollow capabilities... Well. That was yesterday.

Since posting yesterday, I found out about Twitter Karma. How I missed this, I don't know. I've seen it elsewhere, but didn't really understand that this was it's use.

Looking to unfollow people who don't follow you on Twitter? Here are some services that can help you do just that. I've been using FriendorFollow to find those few folks who are not following me, since I've reached the 2000 limit and can no longer follow anyone else.

I use tweetlater (i mean socialoomph) on a regular basis to automate the direct messages (the welcome messages sent to folks when they first follow you) and this will automatically unfollow people who dont follow you back.

Unfortunately, I have some people on there from before I started using TweetLater, so I've had to go back and manually start to remove them in order to add people who will follow me back. Gotta get past this 2000 limit!!

When you learn how to do affiliate marketing you can make money, and the better you get at it the more you will make it. Like everything in life of course it takes practice and effort.

I finally read Seth Godin's Purple Cow book. I was pretty pleased with the book. It was a fast read, and reinforces what I have always known to be true (being different can be a very good thing!).
