Oh oh how I adore vintage cake tins. Actually I have thing for round boxes, so hatboxes and cake tins are my thing. It’s very hard to find these in good condition, which is I believe very important if you will use them in kitchen.

It was the colour combination that Luella Bartley couldn’t resist so among the lovely shopping bags few times sneaked in catwalk look in this colour combination. And was always pretty. It’s the colour combination perfect for the cardigans; a black trim gives the grown-up vibe to girls that want to dress like cupcakes. Milly satin-trimmed cardigan is just like that, so is Orla Kiely two-toned cardigan from autumn collection. Blush and black is colour combination that Karl Lagerfeld recognizes as the friend for Chanel’s black and white. Especially in couture when creates a dream with charming black contrast. Do you remember Chanel’s double strap Mary Janes with just a bit of black? I almost bought similar version at Asos, but every time I saw refined Chanel satin around Alexa Chung’s toes of I gave up. Pale pink would be perfect colour for the walls and black oval frames. And polka dots or hearts…you almost hear them sing when on the light shade of pink. Blouses can be also devoted to this friendship… with or without a detail, and with a good pair of black skinny jeans on legs. And this combination is easy for DIYs… just imagination and satin ribbons are what you need. These tender pastel tones are kissing the dark like in dream…

Oh those plans

I had planned to publish this post just after the New Year’s Eve but somehow it was lost between the holiday’s overtiredness and thrill for upcoming year. Also is possible that misslikey is just like a boy and had lost ability to do multiple things at the moment. Maybe that characteristic comes with years or it’s just a passing thunderstorm. However, I wanted to describe what I was doing for holidays. Before the clock ticked twelve on December 25th I spent hours and days sitting at my working table. Half of the time I was listening to the noise that my sewing machine was producing and the rest of the time I was splashed in acrylic paint and glue. Reason for that was the decision to start my little business with the things I make. I came with the name and start selling. I don’t know if it was because of the charming name; The Little Cloth Girl or because of the products, but people actually were buying my little crafts. So it made me happy and I was thankful that Little Cloth Girl’s Christmas balls with tulle, flowers and bows and linen bags were décor on many trees. My boyfriend also drew handsome illustrations that I used for cute labels and holiday cards. So after the midnight on December 25th half blinded, I decided to take a little break before the new plans with The Little Cloth Girl. I was watching French movies, playing hostess, ate strawberry jelly cheese hearts and muffins with cinnamon, apples and almonds. I realized that the cupcakes with chocolate, chili and pepper and warm wine are really able to erase every melancholic feeling. What also made me happy was a royal carriage clock from 1940s and vintage tobacco boxes that my boyfriend found in his basement. I didn’t make New Year’s resolutions cause I don’t believe anymore in years but the days. These days I am picking new fabrics and creating samples for my Etsy store that’s going to be open soon.

Also I planned to say that I am wishing you a Happy New Year...

Holiday dress

Oh my dears do you catch yourself counting the days till holidays, then you realize they are already there. As parties knock on the door and scents of the Christmas start to spread, we wonder what to wear. This year I am not completely giving up of red so I’ll have in backup little red dress with the bows I made, but I would love to mingle around on tiptoes in wonders made of tulle. Even if Chanel and Valentino are my first thoughts when I think of tulle in its best, it’s not impossible to be a princess with few pennies in a hand. Oh tulle tulle, girl can ramble around so long to find you in a vintage store hidden somewhere between floral and ikat. And when she is in online hunt it’s not easy to distinguish a perfect you between the tons of costumes and proms, but nothing is too hard when you imagine yourself in lavish tulle with graceful chignon on your head. Then you are princess even if your kingdom is based only in a Fantasy Land.

What I've found in shops

Dear little invisible Christmas friends,

I will be sitting at table in pajama and eat some sweets from my candy tin. When angels and dolls start the dance on my Christmas tree, on the sound of a bell I’ll take my coat. I must remember to turn on the lights for Santa that will soon start to sneak around a house. Please recognize me dear friends when I come outside because all that snow in my garden makes me pale like a snowflake. White cat will see us but she won’t tell a soul. And don’t forget… when Santa Stalker enters my house; we’ll make him a surprise. You my littles borrow Santa’s sleigh and so we can fly towards sky while we spread the magical stardust. We will be frisky and laugh when we come to the clouds. I will gather some snowflakes to take home, that isn’t stealing you know. Please don’t forget to bring me macaroons from Laduree. Also, you know I like to dance on the clouds in tulle that Karl makes in Chanel. I will tell the planets we need carrousel and you tell the stars that we will need rosy stardust. You my little friends might wonder so I will tell you why. When we come back I want to sprinkle the dust on every house in our little town. I almost forgot to tell that you pick flowers so we can make wreaths from violets and roses to make beautiful everyone’s doorstep.

P.S. Later we will sing Christmas songs and take a ride on a carrousel. Hope you are ready for magical Christmas time. I am.

Yours truly,

moi

Interview with Jaclyn from Audrey Grace

Jaclyn Bethany is owner of Audrey Grace, pop-up shop that’s going to open its doors on December 17th in Jackson, Mississippi. With clothes by our favorite labels and pieces of art by our favorite artists, Jaclyn created something like our favorite shop in a dreamland. I met this lovely lady few months ago when she contacted me about the collages for her shop, and she is very hardworking and dedicated in the pursuit of only the perfect things for Audrey Grace. Meet this charming girl and find out more about her and the shop in interview below.

Hello Jaclyn, first I want to know how did you get an idea for Audrey Grace pop-up shop?

Growing up, I always loved fashion. I always wanted to open my own business- my own shop. I decided to open a pop-up shop to test the market. The name Audrey Grace comes from my two favorite style icons, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, who I think are timeless and women today can relate to them.

Where shop is based?

My hometown- Jackson, Mississippi, U.S.A.

Is there any chance that Audrey Grace becomes a permanent shop?

I would love that. However, It depends on lots of factors and what I am doing in the future. I would love to open a permanent space for Audrey Grace that has a different feel. I think if I opened up a permanent space I would change it around. I've always imagined a tea room within my shop; I think that'd be perfect!

The list of great designers and labels that you going to stock in AG is too long; TBA, Orla Kiely, Elizabeth Lau, Vivetta, Lady Petrova, Rachel Antonoff, Alexandra Grecco, Erin Fetherston…Audrey Grace is really a dream shop. So Jaclyn are there any pieces that you don’t want to sell?

Thank you! Well, I love everything but some of the pieces aren't my size, etc. I have kept a few pieces for myself though. And each day the shop is open I will be wearing a different outfit from Audrey Grace to promote the store!

Tell me a little bit about art pieces and paper things in the shop?

I have worked with photographers, illustrators, and artists from all over the world. It has been such a blessing and a privilege. There are probably around 300 art pieces that will be sold in the shop. Most of the artwork is inspired by style icons and designers that are stocked within Audrey Grace. The Australian artist Caitlin Shearer created a beautiful lookbook of all the custom dresses that are being stocked in Audrey Grace. And your collages are stunning of course!

I read on Audrey Grace’s facebook page that walls of shop will be in Tiffany blue. Can you reveal us a little bit more about interior and décor?

Yes, there is a picture of the walls now, did you see it! So it's just a pop-up shop so I can't go too over the top with decorating although if I opened a permanent shop the focus would be more on interiors. Basically, we are using antique pieces from my home and then the artwork will decorate the walls.

How are you preparing for the shop opening? Is there going to be a party?

There will be a party! Just something special to celebrate the opening on December 17th with champagne and macaroons, of course!

About the process of choosing labels for store…Did you have a plan or it was based on what you like?

No, I didn't really have a plan. I remember starting on Etsy about six months ago and contacting sellers that way. Then I started reaching out to larger labels. It was based on what I liked and what I knew other girls liked but couldn't find.

What about vintage? What can we expect on that field?

Some of the vintage I have sourced myself, others I have asked various stylists/bloggers to source including Ashley Ording of Fancy Fine, Emily Theobold of It Girl, Rag Doll, Jessica Butler, and the stylists behind the London boutique, Koh Samui. The selections are amazing and really reflect the beauty of the store.

Now a little bit about Jaclyn…

Tell me a little about your education and what are you doing besides Audrey Grace?

I am a senior in university, studying acting, it is my main focus. I am currently in a production of Twelfth Night at school and considering applying to graduate schools…I'm so busy! (But a good busy!)

What are the favorite pieces in your closet?

I love my shoes (Miu Miu, Louboutins, Manolos, Charlotte Olympia, etc.) my Mulberry bags, and the things made by Chanel that I own.

Favorite designers?

Well high-end designers- Chanel, Miu Miu, Prada, Mulberry, Rodarte, and Valentino are some of my favorites. For affordable pieces I love Nadinoo, Erin Fetherston, TBA, Nishe, Jill Stuart, Orla Kiely Sretsis, Alex Grecco, etc. Basically all of the labels I am stocking in the store. For basics, I generally wear J. Crew.

Favorite places to shop?

Hmmm.. I love Orla Kiely- her NYC and London boutiques. I like Opening Ceremony although sometimes it's a bit edgy for me. Their NYC store is like a museum. The Jill Stuart and Anna Sui stores downtown are always fun and whimsical. I live in NYC, so when I go shopping it's usually in Soho. Topshop is wonderful too. I love ASOS online- All the best brands in one place. In London, I like the shops Fifi Wilson, Liberty, Harvey Nichols, Whistles, Lucy in Disguise and all the vintage shops on Portobello and Camden Passage.

Favorite movie, book and fairytale characters?

My favorite movies for fashion are Picnic at Hanging Rock and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I was in Australia over the summer and wanted to visit Hanging Rock but never made it! My favorite book is The Great Gatsby, can't wait for the new movie! My favorite fairy tale is Alice in Wonderland.

Do you have a style icon?

Alexa Chung is my style icon.

What does fashion mean to you?

I think fashion is important because it's constantly changing and has basically shaped our conceptions of clothing over time.

Your secret world…how would it look like…what would you wear, where would you live and what would you eat?

Gosh, I have no idea! I suppose I would live at the Ritz in Paris, wear only Chanel and eat Laduree macaroons every day. I really think Amanda Harlech lives that life, actually. So maybe I'd want to be her!

To find out more visit;

Audrey Grace blog

Audrey Grace facebook

Dear readers, this is a super easy DIY and you don’t need much of a sewing talent to do it yourself. Since I am madly in love with lace I use old pieces to embellish tops and tees. I did this with the half of my tops. (I even use a lace from underwear pieces that I don’t wear). This lace collar with the bow is made from second hand shirt that had lace collar. First I removed the collar gently with thread snips, which are my super tool. Then I sewed collar on the long sleeve top. I made a velvet bow from velvet ribbon. Easiest way to make a velvet bow is from three pieces of ribbon (one bit larger and two that are the same. Ends of larger piece of ribbon you sew along then under that you stitch other two pieces in triangle shape). Have fun.

Lyell, Emma and Tocca

I was the one of those girls that had broken heart last year when I heard the news that New York City’s label Lyell is saying goodbye. Emma Fletcher, designer left very emotive note on her website for all her fans. I was the one that was also touched by her words and amazed with her passion. Although I’ve never stepped in Lyell’s boutique in New York’s Nolita nor I don’t know Emma Fletcher in personal, this news made me sad. At that time in my life I was thinking more about the ethics of a fashion, market and a consumer behavior so after the news that Lyell is shutting down with huge discount I was making presumptions of what happened to label. Is it because of the fast fashion and ability that you can buy very similar blouse for three times less money that’s created by a child? Or Emma wanted to close the chapter of success that label achieved? Or Emma couldn’t fit in the character of today’s designer that’s creating in sly manner. Why slyly? Because many of those that are making our clothes have to believe that we cannot have in the closet that we really need. Your pants are not exactly what you want but you going to buy them, and another year you would buy yourself another pair. Ordinary consumer could not believe how much of psychology is behind his pants. That’s how it goes in fashion, this is not the fairest world and fashion is part of that world. So what Emma Fletcher did differently? What kind of fashion is the fashion that Lyell used to offer? Unquestionably, that wasn’t fashion based on a trend. Forget about that. Patterns were very classical and feminine, details were smart, and collections were similar. Lyell girl was the girl that possessed sensuality of 1930s, frisky vibe of roaring twenties and was enough special to get a role in French 1960s movie. All that means that from Lyell you could get something that you will wear and could wear in a different ways. To go back on example of the pants that means you need just two pair of pants and you won’t buy eight other pairs if these are perfect. In the term of what fashion means today, could we even call that fashion? I don’t know and I am not very smart nor educated to declare that. But what I know is that Emma Fletcher did something beautiful and very personal. That was a kind of clothes that you would make if you were designing for yourself; not boring but what you need. So I believe that Emma Fletcher is designer in the true sense of the word. She knew exactly what girl needs and in the world of phonies that’s not a very usual case. One more thing that makes Emma not so ordinary designer is the fact that she doesn’t sketch or sew (interview in W mag). Seems that you don’t need the “old-school” for the “what’s good or not” feeling.

After all of this scribbles of mine, you are familiar with my connection with Lyell, so you understand how surprised I was when I heard recently that Emma teamed up with beauty brand Tocca to create their ready to wear line (Tocca had a popular RTW line back in the 90s). For the first collection this autumn Emma did a great job. Like in the case of the Lyell, there are plenty of lovely basics that can be romantic or sophisticated. Or both. Again Emma Fletcher paid attention to every detail so lace is imported from France, and wool for coats is from Italy and England. And every blouse is made in silk. So if social means that you have to pick the groups that determine you as a persona I can say I belong to the nostalgic Lyell group that is happy that Emma Fletcher is back.

Which girl doesn’t like Fridays? As the day that marks the end of the working week, to a Girl Friday is day when she experiences the feeling of freedom. On that day, Girl likes to dance. When dancing, Girl feels like she is flying among the stars. And often she closes her eyes to chase away the problems. But you should watch out. When Girl is dancing she is not polite. At all. You wouldn’t tell by the way she looks. And she loves to look nice. Furthermore, Girl also believes that dressing up is a lovely moment and “what to wear emergency” is sweet little problem.

This girl, now when she is dressing up can't stop thinking about Michael Kors suede gray boots that she saw a while ago. They would be perfect for all those black pinafore dresses with pussy bow blouses. This girl can hear poem in her heart and Beatles melody in her ears every time she looks at these. And just for a case that perfect parallel universe really exists, this girl sees herself in these perfect over-the-knee boots. And in See by Chloe velvet dress with ruffled neckline. Hm hm.

Since I am one of the kids that love the feel of paper, I really consider those online organizers as useless. Call me an old school, but I love to have something that I can touch. With the end of the year getting closer, I need my Frankie journal, which is just perfect. With the illustrations of talented Amy Borrell, it will make every day special and the detested budget calculations charming. And isn’t the reality that good organization is everything? I like to think that we people are bit programmed when it comes to enjoyment in our little lives. Since the same is all about the little things and little adventures, order and my own rituals make me happy. Except the diary for the next year, Frankie published calendar and it’s also full of lovely illustrations by various artists.

Hello my "boy friend", consider this as a perfect gift.

orla kiely coat

Dear Miss Autumn,

I wanted to say to you that I am so pleased that you are here. I enjoy sound of your showers and whispers of your leaves that fall. However I wanted to tell you that I think I need a coat. Not that I am desperate and ungrateful because I have lot of coats, but I need a proper one because I am grown up now. On the other hand, few days ago I was watching a TV show and I saw a lots of kids that don’t have autumn clothes. This made me sad. Okay, maybe I am also poor now, but I have lots of clothes. And do I need gray jacket that I wear for running? I don’t run, so I believe I don’t.

Because of this dear Miss autumn I will give all my clothes that I don’t wear anymore to those that need the same, and you can help me to find a job so I can buy this pretty Orla Kiely’s coat.

With love,

misslikey

Real star of this season. Bit oversized, pullover makes silhouette casual and is really perfect partner for autumn winter season; combined with skirts and jeans or over the dresses and blouses with interesting details on collar. Little plastic Alice band is underestimated lately as more we prank ourselves with feathers, flowers or bows. Stylist Bay Garnett showed in editorial Autumn Sonata for Vogue UK full beauty of it. And if rural stands for unsophisticated in this story becomes fully sophisticated. Simple as it is. As a quirky detail for embellishment in these windy times, I would choose compass. This one from the photo is part of The Seafarer collection from Australian jewelry label One Luv, which pays tribute to adventurous Treasure Island (Robert Louis Stevenson).
Designer Dina Ochwada has ensured that girls are looking for hidden treasures wearing a real treasure around their necks.

NOTE: Also kind Dina from One Luv, gives the readers of misslikey 15% off the entire collection until 30th November this year.
Maybe it’s in the smell of fresh made coffee in early morning while you are staring at the city’s gentle awakening. During those early times fog spreads the veil that gently hugs sleepy buildings, and old street lamps are whispering last lullaby before that cars start their own charade. As I open my window, fresh air rushes to get inside and with the scent of the room intertwines in invisible shadow that serenely spins all around. I stand like a statue in the room, with cigarette burning between my fingers and closed eyes. I allow those waves of air to weave the web around me and they make tick-tocks from the clock calm until they finally become without sound. When the little friend from the wall impatiently says it‘s the time, I will hear Mr. Baker from a stereo telling he falls in love terribly hard. After I take a bath, I come back sneakily to meet my closet that said farewell to summer’s wear and while Ruth will miss her darling when autumn leaves start to fall, in my head I create my ode to the beauty of the fall.

Is it just because that the gingham will be replaced with the tweed, reason why autumn is so hopelessly beautiful? Or it’s because the lace will reach full romance in combination with knits. Can you find the autumn in a sound that your Mary Jane’s make while they find their way through the autumn leaves. Is maybe antique market covered in gold, secret way to lost times. Or it’s the cheery wind that makes fun with you and blows your hat to the ground. Or ribbon from your hair trapped in the collar of your coat. Or it’s the beauty in the afternoon sun that tries hard to peep from behind of cloud and give shine to tress and the grass in the countryside. Maybe it’s the evening that time when you can fell that air filled with something I cannot describe, or it’s morning, I don’t know. But it gives me a thought what if it’s there just one life of this kind and maybe you and I might not smell again the beauties of everything that this kind of common surround creates. What else girl can do than to enjoy that gloomy but extremely sweet vibe?

System that is teaching us to individuality fails when it comes to every aspect of creating. So this new century is not so much about discovery or innovation but more about how to transform old into new in sophisticated manner. We learned lot of times that dress is not just a pretty cloth that you wrap around yourself to cover your body so other people wouldn’t point fingers and laugh at you. Dress is like a song, painting or book, the accurate mode to articulate our state of mind.

In sea of everything mixed-up, I believe that the state of mind can stay serene without losing interesting vibe. That’ s the reason why I pointed out designers from above. For well-rounded completeness, you need more skills than to make something loud that will on the first catch your eye. Some designers presented on London Fashion Week showed that can be possible. Take Peter Jensen as example; his graphic print looks hundred times more sensual than someone’s Liberty print that’s not used fine. Jensen made the collection that’s full of mix in very lovely way. Broderie Anglaise dresses and animal print trousers in the same closet? Yes that’s possible when you have good style. With careful use of basic colors with few shades of blue and orange he made his point of what a summer should look like.

Christopher Kane, that during past seasons was doing his own voyage to the stars and nebulas landed. Not on the harsh ground, but to beautiful garden where everything is luminous and shines. For a lady that loves to read in garden and walk around, has ensured Erdem Moralioğlu with delicate gloves and hats made of lace. Mulberry collection between the bright equipment for rainy London summer and bags showed some starry embellishments and the sensual transparency of chiffon. The sheer maxi skirt and matching sweater in green shades? The score. Jonathan Saunders started with very bright prints, then broke the color with few spots and moved to faded colors and prints. Fabric with silky glance and look of vintage California postcard? Seems very possible. As for dresses made of metallic fabrics, that didn’t have such a good reputation over the years, those will find at last their place under the moon on summer night. Especially good metallic dresses were at Giles, so equally appealing were feminine silhouettes with cutouts and fringe dresses in flapper style. So who said that disco queen needs to look like a clown?

The Neverending Story?

from misslikey's diary; in Chanel Makeup studio

Dear diary,

Today misslikey was playing with some cosmetics. You may wonder how can someone play with lipsticks and mascaras, but I'll tell you dear one secret; that's how we girls are. So, to tell you the truth, I awfully love to play with Chanel little things my dear diary. And when I was invited few days ago to have a beauty experience at Chanel make-up studio in Zagreb, for misslikey that is like going to a party. Earlier this day I woke up around 10 am. Was meditating a bit, you know, to stay fresh. After I did all those important things I realized I would be late cause my hair was still wet. So I called my subconscious 911 and she helped me to make a braid around my head. Then I put on my black lace mini dress and my crochet collar with secessionist brooch that costed me just few pennies (kiss to my dearest antique dealer). All ready, I went to Mesnicka Street where Chanel Makeup studio is based. And my dearest I have to say I had a great time. So you wanted to know who was there? There was lovely and elegant Virgine from Chanel, fellow bloggers miss styletone, miss 123 Style and miss fashion rocks. And we all had our own makeover that looked pretty natural. So dear diary you wouldn’t believe how misslikey looked with all that make-up. My lashes were huge and my lips were pale and I have to say I felt very lovely. After a chat inside of Chanel, together with misses’ bloggers, misslikey went for a pleasant cup of coffee.

p.i.s.s.

Dear diary, after I saw the photos that I took that day, I realized I’d never be photographer. Why is that? Because I love to play with camera and click on it, instead of taking photos. And I didn't wear my glasses so most of the photos were similar to the picture of the world as misslikey sees it..Big blur. This is what happens with analogue cameras and “blind” people.

Yours truly,

misslikey

Before the discovering of Nadinoo label, I was reading the blog, written by designer Nadia. The patience of that girl, to take all of the lovely photos of making of clothes, fabrics, or studio where she works amazed me. You have to be a really determined person to do all those things and sew at the same time. It’s not a easiest thing in the world, with all the business duties, to maintain your dream and love. Dream and love are so obvious in the work of Nadia. Through girls Pixie, Fleur and Lula she enlivens the secret world of 60s by making the modern expression of the era using improved cuts and vibrant but subtle prints. What is better than the improved vintage that looks like from vintage store but is worn only by you? Specialties of Nadinoo house are definitely blouses and dresses that from season to season are keeping their basic- feminine and romantic vibe. For this summertime season Fleur, Lula and Pixie besides lovely printed blouses and dresses will also wear petite crop tops tied with large ribbons. Oh oh we completely understand the ribbons and the summertime breeze. And if you think about Nadinoo that’s so Orla Kiely meets TBA, that’s not offend but a great compliment.
Sometimes I just wear a floral wreath. And graceful fine lace.

To a seaside when I go I talk to the nature and great mother whispers me back. There’s me. My vintage swimsuit. My body. My space. My hands in the sand. When I feel lonely I imagine the crappy motels and I recognize that I am desperate for some old school glamour. And then I will put gently a tiny pearl of red rouge. While I am lying in the grass ladybug comes to me and asks me something with soft words that I can’t understand. All I have is a smile to show her that I care. Then the rain comes out like unexpected friend and I free my body and I proudly raise my head to feel the drops on my brain. In the nights when I wash out a salt to wear a nice dress, I light a candle and lay on my bed. I close my eyes and I become a butterfly that flies among the stars on the night sky. I will need just one phone call and one drink to help me to open my eyes so I can become aware that my earthly body is there. After I spray few drops of magic on my neck, my legs show me the way to dance.

In the sunrise I will wear just lingerie and walk around my house. Like a real movie star. I will sit on a wooden bench and feed my soul with some pretty words that my mind tells. When that peace fills my heart, I see that everything shines. So am I. This picture is only one of its kind and somehow becomes tucked eternally between the times. And who am I to know how?

And I realize life is just like a film. One difference is that I am the maker of that movie scene.

(Bizarre is the thing that I have boyfriend who is professional photographer but that is probably an explanation for laziness and for disorder where I always have to show photos to him first which additionally complicates the situation.) Next time I’ll try to post the making of but this time I decided to show to my dear readers all the things I made lately

Here they are;
Decoupage jewelry box… painted old jewelry box with acrylic paint and glued little bird and flowers (from paper napkins)
Wall art…made of old plywood, white paint, cutouts from Vogue Paris (I just adore their font)
Mood board and to-do-board in mint...Since I am still seriously obsessed with mint, I painted frames and embellished with few flowers made of tissue paper. Dress repair… I bought a dress in thrift store and made mini from maxi.
Wall art with heart…again made of old plywood, acrylic paint, dried petals of almond flowers and violets.
Newspaper table…I painted old newspaper table in mint. (oh what a surprise) Embellished old jars… I adore old jars everywhere; as lanterns in garden, in kitchen, in room, as storage of little things or candleholders. Usually I am using decoupage technique or lace. The one at photo was a gift for friend. Pearl collar…I sewed pearls onto collar of old blue shirt (but I actually don’t wear it) Bags….I sewed a lot of shoe bags/lingerie bags from old fabrics that I use for organizing of my closet.

NOTE:You don’t have to be an artist to make the pretty little things. All you need is creativity and enthusiasm, just like in life.

misslikey loves Dahlia spring summer 2011

When you walk the streets of London, every now and then you stop to visit some cute little shop that you haven’t heard of before. When you enter to see the clothes, you realize they look familiar because probably you were drooling on your keyboard while browsing Asos or cursing the destiny at Topshop because you just cannot buy another floral dress. But you didn’t take your notebook and a pen nor remembered the brand. If you later find out about the label that makes situation much worse because except discovering you’ve realized you discovered something else; that you want it all. Same case is with Dahlia. Dahlia history begins at Portobello where sisters and designers Tracy and Leigh were selling their products of love. Now, except the own boutique, Topshop, Asos, Preta-a-Portobello and few independent boutiques in London carry their line. Every season sisters bring to all the fashion girls romantic and girly designs. Dresses are Dahlia’s best product. All carefree, cute and very pretty. New dresses from Spring summer collection are all very simple but enriched with elegant details as Peter Pan, petal collar, crochet, ribbon neck tie or neat buttons. Printed and floral ones bring the bit of a countryside vibe in city that’s hot while Honey, Imogen, Francesca and Agyness carry romance everywhere you are.
In salon you were sipping tea from finest porcelain cups and assembly was playing flutes. Flamboyant tapestries were hanged on wall behind mahogany tea table. On the tapestries were hand woven images of the family so you were updated with their lives whether male members of the family went to war, or the duchess was reading in the garden. When you returned to your modest home, you unpacked your cheap traveling carpetbag, similar to the walls in duchess palace, and you felt tremendously modern.

That morning when you woke up, you went out on the street and you are terribly surprised when you see that stores instead of beans, are also selling bags and shoes. You buy yourself a dress. You come home and you push the button on something that looks like a box. People moving in it awfully scared you. You see a girl that flies with umbrella and carries in her hand that same carpetbag like you used to have.

Glorious duchess’s tapestries come as a memory to your mind. You decide to investigate around. You meet a man and he kindly offers his help. He brings something shiny and puts it on a table and starts typing the word tapestry while you are wondering how that little apple find herself on that. All of the sudden, on that thing appear thousand images of handsome attire and bags. Since the man told you could buy things there if you want, you choose tapestry bag on something called Etsy. And you choose one handsome suitcase for your voyage. Who wants to look like a carpet, kind man states. Mademoiselle thinks that gentleman doesn’t know the fashion, you say coolly while you sit on your chair to rest.
