TV worked great for about three months then a vertical line appeared on the right side of the screen A few weeks later a vertical line appeared on the left side of the screen We will now have to work with Mitsubishi s customer service to determine what the problem is and how they will fix it

Overall the picture is great after the line disappears usually 30 min after turning it on

The T V itself is great I found it in a retail store and was able to compare the picture and features to Sony Samsung etc And it was the BEST
The delivery was not what I expected They gave me a four day window then moved it back another week which caused me inconvenience since I was in town for the original dates but out of state for the second Had I known they were going to change the dates I would have found another vender
The price was ver good however I saved 700 00 by not going the retail route
It all worked out and I am happy with the purchase

After you use this TV for a while a verticle line appears toward the edge of the screen The first one was replaced The second one has now developed the same problem

If you leave the TV on long enough the line goes away

We got this TV for a steal in July and unfortunately just had to return it today The picture quality really is quite amazing and it is obvious that Mitsubishi has put a lot of thought into the design of the menus and features of their products However a couple of days ago we noticed a very thin vertical line running down the screen a few inches from the right side Since we were just barely under our 30 days to return the TV to the store we purchased it from we were able to bring it back without trouble I ve done some looking around online and have found that this same problem has occurred for lots of other owners both on this model and the earlier model the 46244 Rather than risk having the same issue again we have gone with the Samsung LN46B650 instead

I am disappointed things didn t work out because we really were very happy with the performance of this TV For our hard earned money however we feel better about owning a model without any recurring issues Best of luck

In February 2008 we purchased the Mitsubishi LT46244 which was the immediate predecessor of the LT46246 The first LT46244 lasted 15 minutes and then died It was replaced and four months later experienced panel separation That panel was replaced under warranty 12 days after the one year warranty expired the replacement panel separated Mitsubishi had extended the manufacturer s warranty by a year but was unable to get replacement panels As a result Mitsubishi replaced the defective LT46244 with its new model the LT46246

We noticed a significant improvement in the LT46246 s color and clarity over the previous model As we had done previously we set the color on bright since the TV is being used in a brightly light room Mitsubishi s normal setting was more washed out than we liked however were we using this set in a more dimly light room that setting would have been satisfactory In fact the color is so vivid that we have had two doves a hummingbird and a wren fly into the window that is directly opposite the television and 15 feet from it

I have rated this television as a four star product for several reasons The LT46244 had a matte screen which produced no glare in a brightly lighted room the LT46246 screen does have a slight glare problem However if the panel is of better quality I am more than willing to put up with the slight glare It does not seem that Mitsubishi improved on the sound quality That is not a major factor for my spouse and I as we are both tone deaf audiophiles will probably want to purchase a surround sound system for better sound quality

One final note we did purchase an extended warranty from the local authorized Mitsubishi dealer After the fiasco with the LT46244 we are taking no chances

I own a larger Mitsubishi LT 46231 that is the best tv I ever had so when I went shopping for a 40 inch for the bedroom at BestBuy I found they did not sell the LT 40134 I purchased a SonyV3000 what a nightmare motion blur that was the worst I have ever seen auto dim a feature to hide the clouding that plagues Sony sets color I could never get right after tweaking non stop for 3 weeks I gave up and returned it to BestBuy then I had an idea I called Paul s tv to see if they sold the LT 40134 they had one left I got a great deal when it was delivered I used the same settings that I used for my LT 46231 perfection here are some of the features

Lush beautiful natural color due to Perfect color and Perfect tint more color than the average set I adjusted the color once and I am done a sparkle in the HD that sets it apart no clouds no bands

Built in TVguide for the cable input without the box

easy setup it walks you through

A one inch bezel all the way around which fits into a smaller space with no screen space loss

Both my Mitsubishi s put any other brand to shame I have owned 4 HD sets an LG which was awful a Panasonic which ended up being too small I now have found the sets I can brag about I highly recommend this set it s wonderful

I bought this TV two months ago and I m very happy with it The picture is excellent with HD programming 1080i and 720p and even with 480p inputs As for analog signals well it s as good as I ve seen but you just have to accept that plain old TV will never look that good on a HDTV I ve also hooked the TV up to a Dell computer with a DVI to HDMI cable and get a brilliant 1080p picture The computer runs Vista Media Center using digital cable tuners with cable cards and the picture is superb from this setup much better than the component input picture from my Comcast cable box

The TV automatically recognizes most things you plug in and sets up the input for you I haven t used the universal remote features as I have a Harmony remote so I can t comment on those but the remote seems reasonably easy to use The menus are pretty easy to navigate but if you linger too long in changing a setting the menu goes away this can be a bit frustrating

The only negative I ve seen so far is that I can see variations in the screen surface like bands but these only show up when there is sunlight reflecting off the screen They re invisible at night or when the sunlight isn t very bright I also wish the TV had picture in picture PIP but that s not a knock on what s in the TV as it is

The TV appealed to me as it needed to fit in an armoire that has a 37 inch platform It just barely fits but I got the maximum screen size I could fit in the armoire so I m happy I d have had to settle for a 37 inch screen otherwise I d definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a 40 inch LCD screen

Don t bother with this TV Mitsubishi s support for its product is nothing short of pathetic I purchased this TV last month only to have a small horizontal blacked out line show up in the display within the first week or so of use Following all of the warranty instructions I called Mitsubishi Their local service center picked it up called me a week later and told me it could only be fixed if a new LCD panel were provided I was told I had to call Mitsubishi myself Upon being called Mitsubishi s agent claimed that the LCD panel was not within the warranty even though the warranty itself has no such exclusion but covers all parts and labor So if you want a 1700 paperweight this is the TV for you Otherwise stick with another manufacturer

This TV was awesome when we first got it Beautiful picture But at first we were so enamored with the size and quality of the TV we didn t notice the loud fan hum With the normal hustle and bustle about our home it is no wonder But it seems to get louder the longer you leave it on By the time we re turning it off at night it is quite loud I hate to call a service person to fix it when we ve had it for such a short time I was hoping there would be a recall since now I m reading this is such a big problem with these sets The fan definately knocks this 5 star TV down to about a 2 star Very disappointed

I purchased this TV on line over 18 months ago and I still love it Unlike a couple other reviewers I ve NEVER had a mechanical issue nor does my TV make any buzzing noises I researched bigscreen TVs at some local retailers before starting my on line search It was the feedback of the employees in the electronics dept that made my decision to go with DLP over plasma or LCD TVs All of the employees in the dept owned DLP specifically Mitsubishi The addition of the 120 Hertz processor inside the TV makes a much bigger difference than you d think when comparing one without side by side Rather than having to deal with an issue of pixel burnout or image fading which is common to the plasma and LCD televisions as they age the DLP TVs simply have a bulb lamp that burns out A simple replacement of that bulb and the TV is back up and running with no diminishing quality to the picture AT ALL The bulb can be purchased on line I searched for it by removing my TVs old bulb and casing first and doing a search on the Product Code printed on it It is sold two ways bulb only and bulb in a new casing The old bulb in its casing slides out of the back of the tv by simply removing a few screws with a phillip s head screwdriver If you opt to buy the bulb only remove the old bulb from your existing casing and replace with the new bulb We just had to do this with our TV Mind you our TV is running 12 hours a day on average We use the heck out of it I paid under 140 00 for the bulb with UPS 2 Day Blue Label delivery included I feel that is not bad at all to maintain picture perfect quality Note If you purchase the bulb in a new casing the price was at least double Because of the DLP mirror technology you really do not have any warning that the bulb lamp is going out That would be the only downfall unless you always had a backup bulb ready to switch out but it is this same mirror technology that prevents diminishing picture quality The TV is not able to be mounted but needing a place to store a DVD player WI Game System satellite receiver box etc why not place the TV on top of an entertainment stand containing these items The TV is relatively light and only has a depth of like 14 so it still presents a sleek look I saved a lot of money buying my TV on line and have had a wonderful buying and viewing experience ever since Great picture all the time

I ve had this TV for just over a year and it will not turn on The manual says to hit the reset button which i did and still does not work The manual has no other solutions so what do i do now I have to call a service man out for 35 I cant believe just over a year and I m having problems I ve had Mitsubishi in the past but will not buy again and of course the manufacture warranty is only one year When you pay good money for the top of the line products you except them to last From this point I will buy LCD Samsung or some other top brand
