The more practice you have and the more you watch others work with it, the easier it will be to use. Here is a basic pen tool tutorial for CS5 created by Western Washington's Student Technology Center. Our version of Illustrator is CS6, but this tutorial is still helpful.

Adobe Illustrator CS5 - Pen Tool from WWU ATUS video training on Vimeo.

Sculpture: Submarine Test January 1967

Here is an example of many mediums coming together. Beautiful book art is used in this creative music video. While it isn't as sculptural as your book projects will be, there are some great techniques used here.

JOHN MAYER - SUBMARINE TEST JANUARY 1967, VIDEOCLIP by VIRGILIO VILLORESI from Virgilio Villoresi on Vimeo.

This is the music video to the song "Submarine Test January 1967" by John Mayer. The artist used a pre-cinema technique called ombro cinema to animate the drawings made by Virginia Mori. Everything was filmed in live-action, no post production effects were employed.

If you are in the neighborhood you should visit the Greek Festival. Maya and I had lots of fun today (before the storm rolled in). There are games, rides, wonderful food, dancing, gifts and even cooking classes for those of you who are interested in the culinary arts. Plus, how often do you get to say "Opa!" while someone lights your food on fire?
