The Associated Press reports that both Rick Santorum and Ron Paul did not campaign in Florida today the weekend before the balloting .There were earlier reports that Santorum had gone home "broke and tired."

From where I sit it seems to me only logical that if the non-Romney support goes to Gingrich, the only one with a chance to win in Florida, then it will hold off the Romney coronation and Santorum and Paul will continue to have a chance.

As it stands if their supporters vote for them in Florida then the media will crow it is all over and it will be that much harder for them to stay in the race.

Surely common sense, or at least self interest must prevail?

As you can see, the first bullet point advised that it is the scary Sarah Palin's fault. or rather just the thought that she might hold an office in a Gingrich administration was enough to turn an huge Gingrich lead into a Romney victory.

How Palin managed to ensure Gingrich's massive victory in South Carolina, a landslide, whilst being so frightening, is not canvassed. one of life mysteries.

These journolists (sic) don't seem to realize that the jig is up. To write a paragraph which includes such rubbish as unidentified sources, too frightened to say who they are, and discussing ideas "other people" may have, shows a total lack of credibility and journalistic quality and is so transparently biased.

PPP Poll Shows Romney 10 Point Lead In Florida-Santorum The Spoiler.

PPP Polling, which was almost spot on in South Carolina reports that its initial look at Florida has Romney way out in front "a snooze fest' apparently.

This is in contradiction to a massive local poll which has Gingrich slightly in the lead but the PPP poll is slightly more recent, and may further reflect the Romney camps kitchen sink big media spend slash and burn attacks on Gingrich.

The point here is that Santorum is on about 15%. The bulk of his supporters would prefer Gingrich over Romney ( of course) yet by staying in what is a hopeless cause he is handing the nomination to Romney.

Does he expect the VP nod? Whatever his reasons for his quixotic quest, if he carries on he will most certainly ensure Romney gets the nod and, I believe, a Trump third party run.

I ask Santorum's voters to consider those factors on election day and vote for the good of the GOP, America and their values.

Andrew Sullivan continues his odd, I was going to say love/hate relationship with Sarah Palin but that doesn't quite seem to fit as a description. AT THISLINK "The Return of Queen Esther?"

Sullivan's relationship in his mind to Palin belongs in the sphere of Krafft-ebbing I believe, as his comment that he "came in his pants' when he heard that Palin had criticized him by name for his Newsweek article might indicate.

His history with her, especially the "Trig Truther' aspect, is to well know for me to raise again, but apart from that aspect he does raise some political analytical points from time to time.

Sullivan wrote column after column expressing his fear that Palin would run and his belief that she would. When she announced she would not be a candidate he advised that he was never so happy to be wrong and, it appeared, moved on.

But no, today he is back in full force with a long review of Palin's attack on the GOP establishments attack on Gingrich. Actually it is more a cut and past from her face book post and poor journalism .

The only thing of any notice is his projection forward from what he sees as Palin "fanning the flames" i.e. she is doing all this as part of her Machiavellian plot to emerge from the convention in August with the nomination-Queen Esther returns!

I will have never been so happy if his prediction, or rather in his case, fear and trembling is right.

"What we do know, I think, is that Newt will not bow out if he loses Florida and may go on a scorched earth Palinite crusade to stop Mitt on Super Tuesday. And what we also know is that Palin is fanning the flames. If Newt were to do better than expected in Florida, her clout as a king-maker soars. New Huge Florida Poll of 2500 Voters Has Gingrich Back In front

This is a local Florida poll and has a substantial base of over two and half thousand likely voters.

Further, Gallup has Gingrich not only in front nationwide but increasing the gap between him and Romney to its widest yet.

The polls have been all over the place and although the GOP establishment, as Palin points out and the liberal media have thrown the kitchen sink at Newt if these two polls are correct the game is not quote up and the coronation of Romney may still be on hold.

The key to the result is Santorum's vote which according to this poll is collapsing. If enough conservatives realize that a vote for Santorum, who is reported to be leaving Florida before election day "broke an tired," is a vote for Romney and switch to Newt then Gingrich will be in a very strong position.

If Palin endorses Newt as well then anything can happen-we shall see.

We have witnessed something very disturbing this week. The Republican establishment which fought Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and which continues to fight the grassroots Tea Party movement today has adopted the tactics of the left in using the media and the politics of personal destruction to attack an opponent.

We will look back on this week and realize that something changed. I have given numerous interviews wherein I espoused the benefits of thorough vetting during aggressive contested primary elections, but this week’s tactics aren’t what I meant. Those who claim allegiance to Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should stop and think about where we are today. Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, the fathers of the modern conservative movement, would be ashamed of us in this primary. Let me make clear that I have no problem with the routine rough and tumble of a heated campaign. As I said at the first Tea Party convention two years ago, I am in favor of contested primaries and healthy, pointed debate. They help focus candidates and the electorate. I have fought in tough and heated contested primaries myself. But what we have seen in Florida this week is beyond the pale. It was unprecedented in GOP primaries. I’ve seen it before – heck, I lived it before – but not in a GOP primary race.

I am sadly too familiar with these tactics because they were used against the GOP ticket in 2008. The left seeks to single someone out and destroy his or her record and reputation and family using the media as a channel to dump handpicked and half-baked campaign opposition research on the public. The difference in 2008 was that I was largely unknown to the American public, so they had no way of differentiating between the lies and the truth. All of it came at them at once as “facts” about me. But Newt Gingrich is known to us – both the good and the bad.

We know that Newt fought in the trenches during the Reagan Revolution. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, Newt was among a handful of Republican Congressman who would regularly take to the House floor to defend Reagan at a time when conservatives didn’t have Fox News or talk radio or conservative blogs to give any balance to the liberal mainstream media. Newt actually came at Reagan’s administration “from the right” to remind Americans that freer markets and tougher national defense would win our future. But this week a few handpicked and selectively edited comments which Newt made during his 40-year career were used to claim that Newt was somehow anti-Reagan, and isn’t conservative enough to go against the accepted moderate in the primary race. (I know, it makes no sense, and the GOP establishment hopes you won’t stop and think about this nonsense. Mark Levin and others have shown the ridiculousness of this.) To add insult to injury, this “anti-Reagan” claim was made by a candidate who admitted to not even supporting or voting for Reagan. He actually was against the Reagan movement, donated to liberal candidates, and said he didn’t want to go back to the Reagan days. You can’t change history. We know that Newt Gingrich brought the Reagan Revolution into the 1990s. We know it because none other than Nancy Reagan herself announced this when she presented Newt with an award, telling us, “The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.” As Rush and others pointed out, if Nancy Reagan had ever thought that Newt was in any way an opponent of her beloved husband, she would never have even appeared on a stage with him, let alone presented him with an award and said such kind things about him. Nor would Reagan’s son, Michael Reagan, have chosen to endorse Newt in this primary race. There are no two greater keepers of the Reagan legacy than Nancy and Michael Reagan. What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stanlin-esque re-writing of history. It was Alinsky tactics at their worst.

But this whole thing isn’t really about Newt Gingrich vs. Mitt Romney. It is about the GOP establishment vs. the Tea Party grassroots and independent Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction used now by both parties’ operatives with a complicit media egging it on. In fact, the establishment has been just as dismissive of Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. Newt is an imperfect vessel for Tea Party support, but in South Carolina the Tea Party chose to get behind him instead of the old guard’s choice. In response, the GOP establishment voices denounced South Carolinian voters with the same vitriol we usually see from the left when they spew hatred at everyday Americans “bitterly clinging” to their faith and their Second Amendment rights. The Tea Party was once again told to sit down and shut up and listen to the “wisdom” of their betters. We were reminded of the litany of Tea Party endorsed candidates in 2010 that didn’t win. Well, here’s a little newsflash to the establishment: without the Tea Party there would have been no historic 2010 victory at all.

I spoke up before the South Carolina primary to urge voters there to keep this primary going because I have great concern about the GOP establishment trying to anoint a candidate without the blessing of the grassroots and all the needed energy and resources we as commonsense constitutional conservatives could bring to the general election in order to defeat President Obama. Now, I respect Governor Romney and his success. But there are serious concerns about his record and whether as a politician he consistently applied conservative principles and how this impacts the agenda moving forward. The questions need answers now. That is why this primary should not be rushed to an end. We need to vet this. Pundits in the Beltway are gleefully proclaiming that this primary race is over after Florida, despite 46 states still not having chimed in. Well, perhaps it’s possible that it will come to a speedy end in just four days; but with these questions left unanswered, it will not have come to a satisfactory conclusion. Without this necessary vetting process, the unanswered question of Governor Romney’s conservative bona fides and the unanswered and false attacks on Newt Gingrich will hang in the air to demoralize many in the electorate. The Tea Party grassroots will certainly feel disenfranchised and disenchanted with the perceived orchestrated outcome from self-proclaimed movers and shakers trying to sew this all up. And, trust me, during the general election, Governor Romney’s statements and record in the private sector will be relentlessly parsed over by the opposition in excruciating detail to frighten off swing voters. This is why we need a fair primary that is not prematurely cut short by the GOP establishment using Alinsky tactics to kneecap Governor Romney’s chief rival.

As I said in my speech in Iowa last September, the challenge of this election is not simply to replace President Obama. The real challenge is who and what we will replace him with. It’s not enough to just change up the uniform. If we don’t change the team and the game plan, we won’t save our country. We truly need sudden and relentless reform in Washington to defend our republic, though it’s becoming clearer that the old guard wants anything but that. That is why we should all be concerned by the tactics employed by the establishment this week. We will not save our country by becoming like the left. And I question whether the GOP establishment would ever employ the same harsh tactics they used on Newt against Obama. I didn’t see it in 2008. Many of these same characters sat on their thumbs in ‘08 and let Obama escape unvetted. Oddly, they’re now using every available microscope and endoscope – along with rewriting history – in attempts to character assassinate anyone challenging their chosen one in their own party’s primary. So, one must ask, who are they really running against?

Although multiple polls in Florida show Romney with a 9 point lead on Gingrich the national poll show a different story.

Gallup's tracking poll shops Newt with an 8 point lead-which, vitally, he is maintaining in spite of the kitchen sink the Romney forces have thrown at him since their shock defeat in South Carolina.

"Gingrich's 32% is his highest level of support since January and Romney's 24% is his lowest. the gap between them is at its widest"

What is at work here is the Tea Party coalescing support around Gingrich and Perry having left the scene. If Santorum departs the gap would widen even further. Palin's all but declared support for Gingrich is another key factor.

If Santorum stays in the race he may hand Romney a win in state after state-if he he really believes in the conservative cause he could best aid it by leaving the race.

The latest round of polls out of Florida are pretty much all about the same-Romney with a 9 point lead over Gingrich and Santorum between 9-12%. I don't mention Ron Paul's because his supporter is rock solid and won't go anywhere.

Simple maths show that if the bulk of Santorum's supporters went for Gingrich, and the most recent analysis shows that is where they are so included, he would be near or ahead of Romney.

What the is the point of conservatives voting for Santorum, who, according to media reports, is "tired and broke and heading home before the voting day" when every such vote is, in effect, a vote for Romney as it splits the conservative vote?

Santorum has zero chance of getting the nomination. Even if Gingrich left the race Santorum would be a forlorn Huckabee like figure from 2008 trailing Romney around the country until he had to give up.

Santorum can be an American hero if he now saw the light and endorsed Newt. the only reason I can imagine for Santorum to stay in the race is to keep bleeding support from Newt so a grateful Romney offers him the VP slot-but that too seems unimaginable.

Please Rick, if you value your conservative principles support the candidate that is nearer to them-not the one you attacked in the last debate over his health care policies.

I have been reading over some time now, the supposed oracle of all things psephology related, a Mr. Nate Silver (D) the resident poll analyist at the New York Times (D) and have reached the decision not to read any more of his columns. They are so hedged with qualifications that they would do justice to a used car salesman-which professions, I conclude more and more, are blood brothers.

Silver rose to prominence, like so many on the left, during the frothing at the mouth by "progressives" Bush second term, and was a hero of the "progressives" at the execrable "Daily Kos" site. Naturally a leftist periodical like the NYT, wanting to attract a younger audience in their bid to stay solvent, would choose an apparently glossologia/logorrhea afflicted acolyte of the Delphic Oracle as Mr. Silver, to attract the young and naive.

I think the one word which best describes the polling prediction firms is "surprise" which is regular trotted out when their predictions turn out to be wide of the mark. "Within the margin of error" is their explanatory stock in trade when they are surprised by a result they got wrong.

Mr. Silver doesn't have too many worries on that score as he doesn't actually do any polling, rather he analyses polls. Further, his analysis of what is obscure to begin with, adds a layer of "perhaps and possibly and if" so deep that he can never be wrong (although from time to time he does make an actual clear prediction and things don't go so well, as would be expected of course).

Mr. Silver appears to be a practitioner of an ancient Jewish mysticism and seems a Cabalist. Cabala, (as described by Nathan Ausubel) "which in Hebrew means "The Received" loftily refers to itself as "The Hidden Wisdom". It represented that kind of knowledge which could be acquired, not by ordinary reason, but by by the illumination of the spirit. Therefore only the spiritually elect who were "adepts in Grace" were deemed worthy enough to explore its secret meanings."

I also consider him to be a practiser of augury, but whether he inhales fumes like the Oracle, or consults tea leaves or goat entrails, I do not hazard a guess. It appears to me his work is also inspired by a hidden wisdom as it is so cleverly hidden by vague qualifications.

Lets take a look at excerpts from a recent 538 analysis January 24th which came after Gingrich's South Carolina win. Mr. Silver started off with a display of his insight, by stating the obvious, that Romney would have "banked" early votes which were cast when he was leading the polls in Florida;

There is enough in these few randomly chosen gleanings to show that he has left himself enough wriggle room to have any result, and continue on with his mystification and arcane jottings.

I think a good home for Mr Silver, once his patrons move on or expire, would be the wonderful The Market Oracle site which has endless articles, which use all sorts of graphs and charts, to show which way the stock market will go and work on a stopped watch basis. But rather than twice a day they are more like twice a year, or decade.

To make out that 538.com is some sort of be all and end all site, is shown to be ludicrous by this tweet on the night of the South Carolina landslide. Mr. Silver couldn't even see the obvious, that the very early vote tally included early voting which, because it was cast when Romney was leading in the polls, was strongly for him.

At this point the major networks had called Gingrich the winner even before the polls had closed based on the exit poll results but Silver, the supposed expert was still being cautious when all around him were seeing the obvious. So much for the whole family of prognosticators."Just my opinion" indeed.

What needs doing now is for Palin to announce that she is endorsing Newt Gingrich as the true conservative in the race with all the experience and combative skills to take on President Obama. If she does, and Newt wins the establishment, who have thrown the kitchen sink with all its drain crap still intact at him, will have suffered a perhaps irreversible blow.

The campaign may well rest on Newt's performance tonight-how many times has he been able to lift himself to a higher level by his remarkable debating skills- and Palin's endorsement.

Dan Riehl Has Record Breaking 25 Anti-Romney Posts In A Row

One of the most admirable bloggers is Dan Riehl of the fortunately named "Real World View" site, a true conservative and a fighter.

Dan has, as I have, (although I was the first Palinite blogger to do so at a time when Newt was written off) endorsed Newt Gingrich for the solid reasons he sets out AT THIS LINK.

I said he was a fighter and nothing could illustrate that further than to go to his sight and see 25 anti-Romney (very vociferously so) posts in a row AT THIS LINK. Everything that the RINO/Romneyite/Beltway/country club/ camp has done since they received the massive shock that South Carolina delivered it skewered, dissected and exposed for the rampant hypocrisy it is.

Riehl is not only a harsh and righteous critic but delivers a substantial amount of positivity as regards the Gingrich message.

I raise all this for more reasons than to point non-RINO's in the direction of substantial rebuttal to the all but the kitchen sink attacks from the establishment against Gingrich. I do it also to pose a question to Dan.
What will you do if Romney is the nominee?

I have planted my standard. If it is Gingrich I will vote for him and blog for him with aplomb. If it is Romney I will write in Palin-actually I now find I can't as New York doesn't allow for that so I will leave the presidential part blank and vote down ticket. I expect that, if Romney is the nominee my new blog Palin 2016, will be up and running the day after the re-election of President Obama. I personally think a Romney campaign will be a waste of time as I am confident that Trump will run as a third party alternative "which I will do if the Republicans nominate a stiff" enough said.

But how will Riehl and his ilk react to a Romney candidacy? Will they have decided no more RINO's and also write in an alternative or not vote-he gives a hint AT THIS LINK. If that is the case what effect will that have on Romney's result? Will the great conservative revolt commence after Tampa?

Ann Coulter; Hail And Farewell To The Non-Palin/Now RINO Romneyite

Ann Coulter was a non-Dem's hero during the bleak years of G.W. Bush's second term. I say non-Dem as, as things have turned out, she is not now a hero for the Tea Party or conservatives.

During the said Bush years, when the MSM turned vicious, Maher was at his filthiest, and the late night talk show hosts, Letterman especially, turned acidly "satirical" and Bush's popularity was at its nadir, Coulter was a bright light which dispirited Republicans could look at.

Coulter was feisty, spirited, and kept up a staccato attack on all the leftist powers aimed at all things Republican. She churned out books with catchy, battling, titles and took it to the "progressives" at a time when they, and their hero Obama, were on the ascendancy.

It was noticeable that with the ascendancy of Sarah Palin, a new sort of populist hero with broad rank and file appeal, Coulter's media star started to wane. Now, sadly, and for reasons I find murky, Coulter has morphed into a centrist and is attacking the candidates the same rank and file that Palin and the Tea Party belong to support. Perhaps that is what lies at the root of her change.

Coulter came out as a big supporter of New Jersey governor Chris Christie as the GOP's nominee. Christie, seen as a representative of the eastern establishment, turned into a front man for Romney. Coulter is now attacking Gingrich, along with the entire Beltway/country club establishment.

It seems the connecting links are that Palin is endorsing Gingrich, has mass Tea Party appeal, multi-millions of followers as Facebook indicates and could draw a crowd the likes of which Coulter could never do.

But that in itself seems unlikely to explain her apparent move to RINO status. If Romney is the nominee and loses, Coulter will join Romney and the GOP establishment in the wilderness which would be a sad, but earned fate.

Without a word of criticism of her current stance, in gratitude for her spirit lifting performance in the times of gloom, but said in sadness and regret-Ann Coulter, hail and farewell.

"Failing to show early signs of momentum in the Sunshine State, presidential hopeful Rick Santorum on Wednesday signalled he may be cutting out of Florida before the state's Jan. 31 primary.

Speaking to reporters here, the former Pennsylvania senator said was unsure if he would be in Florida the night of the primary, committing only to campaigning in the state over the next two days."

They go on to quote Santorum's complaint that he "has'n't slept in my own bed since Christmas" and that he would rather be at home writing up his tax returns.

This begs the question-if his campaign has acknowledged Florida would be a big and expensive place to campaign in and he can't compete with the well funded machines of Romney and Gingrich what is he doing there in the first place.?

If as the polls show he is 20 points behind the front runners and has absolutely no chance of winning, and most likely even finishing third, or even fourth-what is he doing there except taking support from Gingrich.

Analysts show that the majority of his supporters would choose Gingrich (as per quote from PPP Polling below) so effectively, by staying in the Florida race and beyond, as he hints he will, a vote for Santorum is a vote for Romney in the main.

"If Rick Santorum drops out between now and next Tuesday, Gingrich will be the beneficiary. His voters prefer Gingrich over Romney 50-23, and in a field where he’s no longer a candidate Newt’s lead expands to 43-36."

Is that what Santorum wants? Is he angling for a VP place with Romney? If, when he eventually does pull out of the race he endorses Romney, against the apparent wishes of his supporters, then what will have transpired will be totally transparent at that point and will be another death thrust in the Romney campaign if he is the nominee as conservatives will stay at home in droves in November in protest at such duplicity.

The possible fate of the nomination lies to some large degree in the hands of Santorum supporters-if their 9% or so is mostly added to Gingrich's totals he wins, and a true conservative would be well on the way to the nomination.

If Santorum leaves the field, but keeps his name on the ballot, he may guarantee the victory to the RINO, then to a Trump third party run, and to President Obama's re-election.

It is said of Gingrich as Lincoln said of Grant "I can't spare this man..he fights!" It can be said of Santorum "We can spare this man-he runs away."

"I thought we probably would've talked about the things that were important to him and important to me, helping one another. Our country is upside down. Arizona was upside down. But we have turned it around. I know again that he loves this country and I love this country." It was clear from the moment they greeted one another that this would not be a run-of-the-mill encounter between the president and a local official. At one point, she was pointing her finger at him and at another, they were talking at the same time, seemingly over each other. He appeared to walk away from her while they were still talking, and she confirmed that by saying she didn't finish her sentence. When Brewer spoke with your pooler, the AP and an NBC producer for several minutes afterwards, she appeared a bit flustered and taken aback by the conversation. Asked if she was, that's when Brewer said, "I'll regroup."

New CNN Poll Shows Tie In Florida; Palin's Endorsement Announcement To Be The Decider?

CNN has a new poll out showing Gingrich and Romney in a statistical dead heat for the winner takes all Florida primary in a few days. This is more or less in keeping with other recent polls which show Gingrich in the lead by up to 7 points or a few points behind in one.

As the CNN analysis states Gingrich has overcome a massive deficit in a short time and it would not be surprising if the initial impetus from his South Carolina victory has not cooled off a little.

Further, as in Iowa, once Gingrich hit the front in polling he became the subject of massive all but the kitchen sink attacks from the Romney forces-Romney,his Super Pac's, the MSM and of course the other remaining candidates as well.

What Gingrich has which none of these forces have is the potential king maker endorsement of Sarah Palin. If she endorses him just before the polls open,and she has now advised she will make an endorsement for Florida, then the same startling result that was seen in South Carolina may well happen in Florida.

If it does, and Gingrich wins he will be in a strong position going forwards and she will, once again, be the main force in the GOP outside of the candidates themselves.

Gingrich is at a disadvantage as the early voting, before his ascendancy in South Carolina went heavily for the then front runner Romney so he will need a large margin in the polls to over come it.

First OWS Congressional Candidate Looks Exactly Like You'd Expect;Will He Crap On Cars As A Campaign Tactic?

Politico has up the exciting news that the first OWS potential candidate a Nathan Kleinman intends to run for congress in Pennsylvania's lucky 13th district.

According to Facebook this is the hirsute potential congressman

In keeping with the upside down world of young leftie's Mr. Kleinman is, of course, challenging not a Republican but a Democrat. How the sitting congresswoman Allyson Schwartz is supposed to be a member of the ruling class 1% is a mystery. No doubt it will be a surprise to her to be challenged and interesting to say the least, to see how she reacts to being attacked from the far far left.

The comments at the end of the article are droll. Many are wondering if Mr. Kleinman will,as part of his active campaigning, crap on police cars. I sincerely hope he wins, it will be instructive to the wider public to see the true face of radical leftism in the Dem party in congress and to hear their "progressive" views. Alan Grayson will be delighted I am sure.

The opening cast of characters in this attempt by OWS to storm the halls of power makes me quite nostalgic I haven't seen so many Jewish revolutionary names since my own young radical days when reading about the 1905 Russian revolution.

We have Kleinman/Schwartz/Shapiro as the first characters to take to the stage. One day they will be wearing business suits and worrying about the crabgrass and diapers, we just have to wait patiently till they grow up like Rubin et al.

As I set out below the reprehensible withdrawal of American troops from Iraq will quickly lead to chaos and death-it hasn't taken long.These 63 deaths and 180 injured are just the start of a genocide that is laid at the feet of the American left.

Using car bombs and improvised explosives, insurgents attacked markets, grocery stores, schools and government buildings in a dozen neighborhoods in the central and eastern parts of the capital.

The attacks were the most significant violence in Iraq since the last American troops pulled out of the country earlier this week.

Thanks to the leftist media, exemplified by Trudeau (who in the same strip area has an unending running attack on Newt Gingrich) and the Democratic party radicals, the Iraqi people have been left to their fate-as merciless as it may be.

Trudeau quotes the over 100,000 Iraqi deaths during the conflict. When the post American abandonment toll reaches that figure, and more, will we hear from Trudeau and the left? Not likely.

The fact that the US could stay in Korea for over fifty years, at who knows what financial cost, escapes Trudeau. Possibly because that war was initiated by a Democratic president, and was the right thing to do, as was staying in Iraq until there was stability-whether or not going in in the first place was justified.

I note that the day after the US left the "government' of Iraq has issued an arrest warrant for a Sunni vice-president. If anyone, except those on the doctrinaire left, believe a peaceful and stable Iraq has been left behind, and that this "stability" justifies nothing except an Obama sop to the "progressive " left in the 2008 election they are deluded. McCain/Palin would never have let this moral outrage happen and clearly said so.

The left has their result, I am confident their moral standards will let them live comfortably with each ensuing civilian casualty, each child that is blown to pieces, each women who has her human rights removed and the religious strife which will ensue.No doubt too they will happily accept Iran growing in influence in Iraq and the region further destabilizing the region.

The last American serviceman who left has, through the actions of his or her superiors acting on orders of a leftist administration, turned out the lights on the possibility of a civilized end to the conflict. Each subsequent death will be laid squarely at the feet of Trudeau and the left.

What Planet Are NRO's Editor's On? "Debates Rarely Matter" In Their Gingrich Attack.

In a pompous editorial "The Hour of Newt" ("Eye of Newt" geddit?) from "the editors" at
"The National Review Online" the current GOP field is surveyed and found wanting.

Using a quaint colloquialism, Romney got "a thumpin "to soften the pomposity of the editorial, which at the end of the day, like all elitist screeds, passes over the key point that it is the mass of the common folks who determine what candidate they want. They do this out of their own free will not at the direction or behest of their "betters."

The editors castigate their preferred candidate Romney by chiding him for running a campaign of " lifeless platitudes" and "having done little to persuade conservatives he will fight for our priorities."

They make it clear that Gingrich is not their choice, and go on to spend most of the editorial reviewing his faults and explaining why he would not be the best candidate to take on President Obama.

His one apparent attribute, his debating skills as seen in to such advantage South Carolina, are airily dismissed.

They might make for a spectacle for the rank and file, but when it comes to the general election they are, apparently, of little value "it is unlikely that the debates will be as numerous or will matter as much; they rarely do."

One wonders what qualifications one needs to be an editor at NRO, certainly having been a student of political history, or simply to have lived a while, would seem to be a basic requirement.

Lets just look at whether presidential debates "hardlyy matte" from the vantage of having lived through every election since, admittedly as a very young viewer then, 1956. I can still hear John Daly at ABC reviewing the results coming in and saying "Senator Kennedy in Massachusetts has won an overwhelming victory in his
re-election bid."

The first Nixon/Kennedy debate in 1960 was historic on every level. It was the first televised debate that made a dramatic impact on a campaign.

Kennedy was at that time still an unknown quantity to vast swathes of the American public and his suave relaxed appearance, contrasted to Nixon's unkempt appearance, and debating skills "the missile gap" gave his campaign an enormous impetus, and there can be no doubt whatsoever that it was a major reason Kennedy went on to win.

The Carter/Ford debate of 1976 again pitted a relatively unknown candidate, Jimmy carter against, this time, a sitting president. When President Ford said that he didn't think that Eastern Europe was under Communist control that statement, and Carter's withering glance at Ford whilst he was making it, made a huge contribution Carter's narrow win.

Four years later Carter was on the receiving end of Reagan's "ask yourself are you and America better off'" which statement and the debate it came from made Reagan the next president.

When G.W. Bush didn't dribble down his tie in the first Gore/Bush debate, and Gore treated him with clear condescencion, that gave Bush a platform to go on and win the narrowest of victories.

Debates underpin whether or not a candidate has the, sometimes indefinable, qualities that give the voter confidence in their ability to handle the job, or do it better than their opponent. JFK/Carter/Reagan/Bush all received that vote of confidence without which they mayn ot have gone on to win, sometimes by a tiny margin.

the NRO editors do themselves no favors and their readers an injustice, in fact they insult them, by writing such obvious nonsense, which directly contradicts history, in order to tear down someone who may well be, inspite of their best efforts, their candidate and president.

Adelson and Palin: Jew & Christian, Gingrich's Saviour's And American Patriots

At the darkest moment for Newt Gingrich's campaign, when the Romney surrogates in Iowa were throwing the kitchen sink at him, when all the other candidates turned their fire at him, two American heroes, two patriots, came to his rescue.

Gingrich was running out of funds and couldn't answer back to all the nefarious and over the top charges levelled against him. The former front runner was knocked well back in the pack in Iowa and New Hampshire, and it looked like South Carolina would be the end of his campaign. The RINO forces, the opposing candidates, the Beltway establishment, looked like they had succeeded in either pushing their own barrow, or moving their hands downwards with the crown towards Romney's head, at the upcoming coronation.

But something happened to forestall all their plans and confound their aspirations. An American patriot Sheldon Adelson contributed five million dollars to Gingrich's campaign. This stupendously generous gift enabled Newt to mount a media fight back campaign in South Carolina. That, allied to his clearly lifted spirits, soaring rhetoric and debating skills, enlivened his campaign.

Next came the boost from the other American patriot hero Sarah Palin. Just before the election Palin went on national television and announced, that if she were able to vote in South Carolina, she would vote for Gingrich.

The, astonishingly immediate result of that statement was a huge jump in support for Newt (the graph evidence
AT THIS LINK is indisputable) which was born out as fact by his landslide victory.

Now in Florida, where the media spend is much higher than South Carolina, it would be expected that Romney, with his vast personal wealth, would have Gingrich at a disadvantage once again and all the gains of South Carolina might be negated.

However, once again an Adelson, this time Mrs. Miriam Adelson, has given Newt another five million dollars
AT THIS LINK. There can be few instances of such timely and magnificent generosity, in the interest of true conservative democracy, being seen in American history.

The next act in this true pageant of American patriotism, being acted out before our eyes, will be the likely endorsement of Newt for Florida by Sarah Palin. If the end result is the same as in South Carolina, and the latest polls show this as a possibility, these two, a Christian and a Jew but faith brothers and sisters in their belief in a return to traditional American conservative values, will have been largely responsible for it.

When the war of 1812 moved from the sea and from the North to the Southern field, he was in the thick of General Jackson’s fighting. In the battle of New Orleans he was almost mortally wounded. His philanthropies were country-wide.
