Chakra Blocks to Wealth

While on the plane to visiting family for the Christmas holidays last week, I brought along the 7 Levels of Wealth Manifestation program by Margaret Lynch. So here I am with my smartphone, watching and listening to Margaret’s video with earphones on, learning about how my second chakra may be limiting my wealth.

From the first few sentences describing my Life Purpose profile, Knowledgeable Achiever, it “clicked” why I’ve had difficulty receiving in my life. As a child, my mother was often ill, so instead of being a carefree kid, I took on the role of emotional “caregiver” for my mother. I became as perfect as I could be and I learned that it was better not to have NEEDS and to avoid ASKING FOR THINGS because I might not get it.

I became a “little adult” at a tender age taking care of my mother’s emotional needs, and have become a professional caregiver in the process! As I listened to Margaret’s instructions on using the Emotional Freedom Technique and I tapped my acupuncture points, tears began streaming down my face. I sobbed as quietly as I could so that I wouldn’t disturb the other 100 people on the plane, but it was clear that I had a second chakra vow that was preventing me from receiving abundance!

Everything started making more sense to me, including how I unconsciously sabotage money coming to me by finding creative ways of getting rid of it!

You might think this strange, but if you’re a high achiever like me, have worked hard all your life, and are still not raking in the dough with ease and grace, you might have a chakra vow that is not serving you either! And if you happen to be very “spiritual” or “conscious”, you’ll need it even more! Why? Because your upper chakras are well developed but your grounded lower chakras, the ones that control finances, security etc. may be disabled. If you’re brilliant at managing your money and you’re already wealthy, you probably don’t have money issues with your first and second chakra (although you may have issues with your upper chakras).

To find out, I highly suggest you check out Margaret Lynch’s 7 Levels of Wealth Manifestation. Here’s the link:

Are your “Chakras” limiting your income?

OK, this is for you if you’re into “new age” lingo, so if you’re already asking, “What’s a Chakra?” this info might be too “far out” for you, but…

On the other hand, if you’ve worked your butt off like I have over the years, have helped a ton of people and are generous with your time and energy but don’t have a lot of green stuff in the bank to show for it, maybe you’ll want to know a little more.

All day long at my office, I’m helping my patients release negative energy and negative thoughts which might be preventing them from healing. One of the tools I use is EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique. It is quick and easy and is based on tapping acupuncture points to release stored or stuck negative energy.

I’ve been trained as an energy healer so I work with the energy centers of the body, called chakras. There are seven major energy centers in the body and they represent different aspects of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Having open, balanced and full chakras means that you’re happy, healthy and abundant.

It never dawned on me until I found out about Margaret Lynch’s work that I have chakra “vows” that are imprinted within my energy system, and that these vows can literally be sabotaging my prosperity, no matter how prosperity- conscious or abundantly-minded I try to be.

After I viewed Margaret’s first free EFT tapping video, I was hooked. It made so much sense to me WHY I’ve struggled financially all those years and what blocks I may still have to release to truly manifest wealth and abundance. I want to share this valuable information with you, so Margaret said I could share the free video series with you, my readers.

Just go HERE to register for the free tapping video training. If you’re into personal growth, this is perfect for you.

Margaret is such a fantastic teacher. I should know. I come from a family of fantastic teachers. Well, she’s now one of my new coaches! (I have several and you should too).

Happy Tapping and Happy Receiving (Abundance)!

“Whether you think that you can, or that you can’t, you are usually right.” ~Henry Ford

So true are the words of Henry Ford as he describes the power of the mind and the thoughts we think…

Whether you think you can – or you think you can’t – YOU’RE RIGHT!!!

But, let’s be honest. We’ve been brought up to believe that the world isn’t an easy place to navigate…

…and we’ve been taught that it’s down right HARD to manifest wealth, health, and happiness. We think we CAN’T the majority of the time because… the biggest blockade to manifesting our desires is, well… the BLOCKADE of limiting beliefs we’ve downloaded from parents, schools, the media, etc.

We’re our own worst enemies when it comes to deliberately using the Law of Attraction to create what we want! These unconscious blocks run almost like a software VIRUS in the background of our computer-like brains constantly.

And it’s funny… people know there’s SOMETHING blocking their desires, but they can’t seem to put their finger on it.

Maybe they’ve tried psychotherapy, hypnosis, EFT, self-help books, workshops – you name it – anything to help… to make a clean slate… to have a fresh start…

But unfortunately, they have little or no success.

But there’s good news! I’ve discovered something so unique – so cutting-edge – I can’t wait to introduce you to it!

Amazingly, it is GUARANTEED to remove the software virus running in your head…

It’s a revolutionary product – no, downright EXTRAORDINARY – and you’ll be amazed at what it can do, and how – just by following some simple steps – you CAN be successful attracting what you desire.

Take a moment to watch the short video at the following link:

Look at this:

https://www.plimus.com/jsp/redirect.jsp?contractId=2860620&referrer=861136

I was pleasantly surprised by the answer. I think you will be too!

Blessings,

When it’s Time to Fire Your Downline

OK, today I got mad.

Granted, I usually don’t get angry very often, but I know it is human to get angry once in a while and that’s OK, as long as one doesn’t stay angry or take it out on anyone. Hence, I’m writing a blog.

Keep in mind that I tend to get fired up when there is a big earthquake or storm coming, so maybe that’s why I got angry. We won’t know for sure until tomorrow. Nevertheless, I actually got angry at someone today and it was a member of my downline.

Sheila, (not her real name), signed up with me at pretty much the lowest level of our company. She gave the product a good try and got results although in her case, not as stellar as she had hoped. She never stuck to the training schedule we had so after two sessions, she just stopped showing up. I wasn’t expecting much from her because over the years I learned that anyone who signs up at the lowest level of a company and never upgrades isn’t really serious about doing the business.

Seeing that she was no longer purchasing product from our company, I asked her if I could take her off my email list so she isn’t inundated with email, and surprisingly she said “no”. Months pass and every once in a while I get an email from her asking me to check out another product or MLM opportunity.

Usually if the product was health related, I’d courteously check it out. Once I even did a three-way call and bought several months worth to try out for myself. I always responded to Sheila whenever she had a question and I felt I could be helpful.

Sheila often hints in her emails about how much money “we” could be making with her new opportunities and I usually end up gently counseling her to try focusing on one that she’s passionate about and not spread herself so thin. I’m still working on doing that myself so the adage, “We teach what we have to learn” would be appropriate here…

So this week, Sheila emails me questions about my marketing strategies and how much it costs, how I created it, etc. Intending to be helpful to her, I took the time to ask some more questions of her and answered her as best I could, giving her references, names and contact information for consultants I use.

Then, unexpectedly, I get an email from Shiela trying to sell ME on a marketing strategy that she feels will make us lots of money…. and immediately I feel used. I was being sold to and it didn’t feel good!

Had I known that she was going to trounce in to try to get me to join another MLM opportunity (this time selling a marketing strategy) instead of honestly wanting advice on her marketing strategy, I would not have wasted my time in answer her marketing questions. Very sneaky. Not cool.

Don’t get me wrong. Sheila is good person and her heart is in the right place. I just didn’t appreciate being offered yet another opportunity to give money to her for something I neither need nor want.

So since she is not an active member of my team, I’m taking her off my email list and I told her that I didn’t want her to sell me on anything else from now on. We’re done. I’m not wasting my time any longer. There are plenty of other people out there willing to take my advice and DO something with it.

So here’s a list of Downline-Member Red Flags that you may wish to check out so that you don’t fall into the same trap I did.

Has he/she committed to the trainings you/your upline have offered and followed through on them?

Is she/he a chronic opportunity seeker but not a do-er, going from opportunity after opportunity looking for the Holy Grail (or has the “grass is greener” mentally)?

How much energy is she/he putting forth in relation to what you are contributing to your relationship and is it balanced?

How much, if any, of the advice or counsel you or an upline has suggested has she/he followed through on?

Sometimes, I’m “too nice” and then I pay for it. My very successful upline, George H., says that he’s open to joining other MLM companies if he likes the product and would like to get it wholesale as long as the other person also joins HIS company. Hmmm, what a novel idea. Sounds good to me just about now!

Just a caveat, though, about doing this…check with your company’s policies about joining other MLM opportunities. Many companies do not allow this. So just double check before you “exchange” opportunities with someone else.

You know, I’m still amazed at how many people automatically think that I’m going to just jump on the bandwagon because they think their company is the greatest thing since apple pie. News Flash! I’m known world-wide for my contributions to my company (humble way of saying “famous”) and I love my company, so why would I jump ship and start all over again?

Sometimes people aren’t thinking straight. But I hope you are!

So be willing to get rid of your downline members who aren’t contributing, aren’t buying product, and who are zapping your time and energy. You’ll make room (we call it the Void in Law of Attraction terminology) for new people to come in!

Dr. Karen
P.S. It isn’t “mean” to fire your downline. It does them a heck of a lot of good too. I teaches them to respect other people’s time and energy. Being “too nice” means being co-dependent and that’s the LAST thing you want to be with your downline!

Here’s a great article by Teresa Romain that I just love. It’s it true that if we don’t think we can do something “perfectly” or “ideally” in our business, we often end up doing nothing? I’ve been victim to that kind of habit, and little did I recognize it as a form of SCARCITY thinking.

So read Teresa’s awesome article and tell me what you think in the comment section. Can you relate?

“All or Nothing” – In Its Many Disguises…

The “All or Nothing” pattern is a pattern that I’ve recognized in myself and most of the people I’ve worked with over the years. It’s also one that I see throughout our society. In many ways, our culture feeds “All or Nothing” thinking and behavior.

Quite simply, “All or Nothing” thinking is another version of “Not Enough” thinking. Anything less than ALL is “not enough” so what happens is that we do NOTHING. And then, if we ever get around to doing it ALL, we do NOTHING else and fall behind in all other areas of life. Or we exhaust ourselves in the process and have NOTHING left after doing it ALL. We create a chain reaction of excess and collapse, all or nothing — all of which leads to scarcity.

The key to breaking out of this pattern is to EMBRACE a little word that usually never occurs to us while we’re in the grips of it. That word is “something”. The way to break out of the scarcity spiral of “all or nothing” is to do SOMETHING.

When you’re caught on the “nothing” end of the spectrum, do ONE thing. Take a SMALL step.

When you’re caught in the “All” end of the spectrum, do a SMALLER number of things or spend a LIMITED (and smaller) amount of time and then STOP. Come back to it again later and do SOME more.

Like I said, I’ve taught this principle for years. Unfortunately, I don’t always remember to practice it myself. Thus, the present (and chaotic) state of our “garage/storage room” area.

During the rainy and wet Spring we had this year, water seeped in along two walls of this storage room. As soon as we noticed it, we quickly worked to get things off the floor. We just started putting boxes and other things any place we could where they would stay dry. And we planned to clean it up once the weather got warmer.

I also keep my workshop supplies in that room… so in April I had to sort through my boxes to find the things I needed for my April workshop. When it was over, I just piled them in amidst the other piles – telling myself “We’re going to have to organize things later – so I won’t bother organizing this stuff now.”

(BIG mistake!)

As time went by, the project of “cleaning out this storage room” loomed larger and larger. My workshop in July created more of a mess. Then I had one in September. And now we’ve had a frost – so now we’ve thrown apples and squash and tomatoes into the mess too. And we need more room for the things we haven’t harvested yet.

So – guess what?

This weekend – when the weather is going to be dry and sunny and warm – I’m going to be spending ALL (or most of) Saturday working with my husband getting this area organized and straightened out. I’m not looking forward to it. But I know it must be done and I know it will be done.

But here’s the thing. It won’t be done in the way either Dan or I had originally wanted or intended. This spring, we planned on taking everything out so we could clean up the carpet better where it got wet. And we were going to go through the boxes and get rid of things we no longer needed. Ultimately, we were going to have less in that room – and have what was left be more organized and easily accessible.

And it was that picture of HOW we wanted to do it that made it seem an even more overwhelming project. So we did nothing (other than to make the mess even bigger).

This weekend, what’s probably going to happen is that we are going to move out the boxes… vacuum the carpet… and then put the same boxes back in – just in a more organized manner and OFF the floor (in case of future water). We may throw out some things… but it won’t be to the degree we had planned. That’s all the time we have to give to it this weekend.

But we set it up that way – because we’ve been doing “nothing” all summer. Had I gone through one box each week all summer, this weekend we’d only need to spend a couple of hours doing some final organizing. Had I even taken the time after each of my workshops to organize or re-organize my supplies, we’d be in better shape.

(But, of course, I thought I didn’t have enough time to do that. So now I have to spend a whole day instead of 30 minutes! <sad face>)

This is a classic example of “All or Nothing”. Which is one of the reasons I chose to share it in today’s letter. But as I was thinking about it, I also realized it was important that I expose some of the different “disguises” this pattern can take.

For example, in terms of cleaning our garage, the disguised “All or Nothing” pattern I sabotaged myself with sounded like “It-has-to-be-done-THIS-particular-way or Nothing”. So we did nothing. And now we’re not even going to do it “THIS particular way”.

Here are some of the other disguises I’ve learned to recognize are just variations of the same “All or Nothing” pattern. Do you recognize any of them?

“I-have-to-do-it-RIGHT or nothing”

“It-has-to-be-PERFECT or nothing”

“It-has-to-be-done-MY-WAY or nothing/not at all”

“It-has-to-be-BIG or nothing”

“It-has-to-happen-FAST/TODAY/NOW or nothing”

“I-have-to-see-some-RESULTS or nothing”

“It-has-to-look-like-THIS or nothing”

“I-have-to-know-it-all or I-know-nothing”

“It-has-to-be-done-once-and-for-all or nothing/I-won’t-even-start”

I’m sure there are many other variations and disguises to this pattern I’ve yet to discover. (If you think of any – I’d love to hear them!) But I’m hoping this gives you the awareness you need to be able to (1) recognize this pattern for the scarcity pattern it is and (2) break free of the pattern by doing SOMETHING (then stopping) and then doing SOMETHING (then stopping) and so on.

Looking at my garage, I am keenly aware of the consequences of acting in this manner all summer and how, in fact, doing NOTHING actually makes what we need to do BIGGER. I keep thinking of the quote by the great UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden…

“If you don’t have time to do it right,

when will you have time to do it over?”

I didn’t have enough time all summer to go through one or two boxes or to re-organize my workshop supplies as I used them. (Well – that’s the lie I told myself.) So now I’m going to spend a large amount of time this weekend on it – time that I would much rather be using doing something else.

And we won’t be doing it the way we wanted to last Spring. It won’t look like what I wanted. I’ve been FORCED to let go of that ideal by the approach of winter. If I had been WILLING to let go of that ideal four months ago, our garage would probably already be done and I’d be able to go on a picnic on Saturday instead.

Which, I hope, will serve as a reminder to me going forward. To practice something. To keep it simple. And to take the little chunks of time I need to do so along the way – so I won’t need as many BIG chunks in the future.

And my garage will give me a great opportunity for practice – and a catalyst for learning. We’ll see next Spring how I’m doing…

So, there you have it, Karen – my latest reminder of the importance of reclaiming my power from the “All or Nothing” pattern. And some of the disguises and variations it can take.

Could you relate to anything I shared? Did me sharing my own story give you any AHAs or insights? Do you have a “garage-like” project that you’ve been doing NOTHING around like me?

Are you in a “RIGHT or nothing” or “PERFECT or nothing” or “MY WAY or not-at-all” pattern in some area of your life? How can you use the “something” principle (and then STOPPING) to break out of that pattern?

As always, Karen, I’d love to hear your responses and reactions. And know that I WILL personally reply to you if you do email me – although it probably won’t be on Saturday! As you know, I have other plans for that day!

Successful Network Marketing Presentations Start with This

Almost all MLM companies promote doing live presentations, whether it is one-on-one or to a group of people. Some people use flipcharts to give a canned presentation and others use powerpoint slides or even new technology such as webinars.

In my live presentations, I am fortunate enough to be marketing a product that gives results within a couple minutes so the “wow” factor really helps, which is why most people become really good at doing demonstrations in my company.

But no matter the format with which you present, there are some key things that almost no one gets training for, and that is the skill of intention-setting.

What is intention-setting? Well, it is literally planning the outcome of your presentation ahead of time…before you even make your first flyer or send out your first invitation.

So what do I mean by planning or intending the outcome?

I’m talking about writing down the result you want to get. That is called intention-setting. That is the first step to harnessing the Law of Attraction to help you in your business.

Most of us don’t use intention in our daily lives, but I argue that we should. Whenever I have used it consciously, the results have been spectacular. Take for example my intentions for my last figure skating competition. Not only did I make concrete intentions, I publicized them on one of my popular Law of Attraction blogs.

Scary.

Scary to make it public because gee, what if I fail? But that is the risk we all have to take to accomplish greatness don’t you think? I was making my intentions public so that I could teach others, from direct experience, how to harness the law of attraction. I had no guarantee that I was REALLY going to win that gold medal.

Well the good news is that all of my publicized intentions came to pass (including the gold medals – yes I won two).

Because I stuck myself “out there” and publicized my own growth process, I got a few “bonuses” from the Universe. Bonuses are unexpected wonderful experiences that aren’t planned… like meeting an Olympic medalist from my home country that I admired and having a photo with him. He happened to be at the national competition training another team and saw my partner and I skate and told us how good we were. Cool.

And also, I bumped into a long lost friend who was my first inspiration to try pairs figure skating. How wonderful to have the opportunity to finally tell him THANK YOU.

So when you’re planning your live presentations here are a few things you should think about intending:

That the people who show up are the right people for your product/opportunity

The percentage of people you’d like sales from (make it believable to you, but be bold and stretch out of your comfort zone)

How many people you’d like to show up (the minimum)

How you’d like to feel and how you’ like your audience to feel during and after the presentation

Anything else specific that you’ d like to attract

Sounds simple right? But how many people do you know that are THAT specific in their intentions?

Once you’ve set your intentions, your next task is to make it as real in your mind as possible..as if it is happening right now! Think of it as an active meditation where you imagine yourself giving the presentation and it being a huge success. If you can feel it, you’ll be able to experience it for real.

Whenever I have a challenge such as a talk, video shoot, webinar, competition etc., I always imagine how successful it is going to be and how people are going to feel when they experience it. In other words, I’m writing the script of my future reality before it happens. That’s called harnessing the Law of Attraction.

Write down your intentions: Try it and let me know how it goes. And if you’ve already had success in this arena, please comment and let us know what you intended and what your results were!

How to Handle Criticism

I love this quote by German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer on the shifting of human views on truth:

First, it is ridiculed.

Second, it is violently opposed.

Finally, it is accepted as self-evident

Guess what? My company was ridiculed when its technology was first released.

“It can’t work. It’s not possible.”

Granted, it was like being plopped into an episode of Star Trek where the doctor just gives you something that you don’t need to ingest or inject in order for you to self-heal, but nevertheless, my company’s technology worked.

But now it has been over five years and with mounting scientific data and hundreds of thousands of product fans around the world, we’ve now moved into the second stage of “violent opposition”.

Recently, I am being spammed by someone who comes across as a consumer advocate who is doing his best to discredit the company, myself and anyone famous connected to us.

It’s All About Energy

Never-mind that it seems that he is only targeting MLM businesses (hmm, the pharmaceutical industry has had MAJOR fraud issues of late and yet none of that appears on his site), it is clear that the violent opposition means only one important thing - more ENERGY is coming my way!

What???

Am I implying that the criticism I am receiving is a good thing?

In a word, yes…and here’s why:

The Rules of Energy

The one with the most energy wins. It is that simple. Thus, whether it is “good” energy (positive feedback) or “negative” energy (negative feedback), the net result is still energy.

I experience this all the time. That is how I’ve managed to win a lot of gold medals in figure skating. I give a lot of “love” and energy in my performances and I don’t worry about the outcome.

Why do you think George W. won a second term in office as the American president? He got all the energy! There were just as many people passionate about disliking him as there were people liking him and many less people passionate about his opponent.

Are you getting my drift?

So if you’re in the midst of a barrage of criticism, don’t take it personally. Don’t defend your company (and, by golly, don’t respond to the attacks online because then your opponent gets more energy and a higher Google ranking).

What you CAN do is to eliminate any negative feelings surrounding the criticism and forgive. Yep, forgive.

Of course, you shouldn’t hang out with people that continue to criticize you. That would be self-inflicted foolishness and a sign of low self-esteem. And if they are your family members, I’m recommending that you shut up around them (about your network marketing business, I mean) until you’re a massive success and your results speak for themselves.

The more you can neutralize the criticism and see it as just a process of intense fear projected outwards from the other person and nothing for you to be anxious about, the faster you’ll move towards total success in your network marketing business.

Neutralizing Negativity

The way I neutralize criticism and negativity in my life is using some of the energy psychology tools I’ve learned. It is only human to feel hurt or angry when you are being criticized or ridiculed. However, it is of utmost importance that you learn to recognize the low vibrational energy in your body and neutralize it before it festers into something bigger (like a tumor!).

The two energy psychology tools I work with the most are

It is important to clear your own negative emotions because they are literally toxic to your biology (your body). So every night, I do TAT because there is a forgiveness portion in that technique I really find helpful.

So what do you do if your prospect is too suspicious that your business is a scam because of things they believe and read about? Here’s where you can use your intuition.

If you get the sense that they are genuinely just confused, but open, then you can attempt to inform them with the correct information. But if you feel icky, negative, fearful energy coming out of them, then I advise you to let them go real quick!

Don’t worry about “not having enough” prospects! By letting go of the “bad” ones, the Universe will learn that they weren’t “good enough” for you and will, once you’re good at letting go, send you better and better ones.

One day, you’ll not only neutralize the negativity, but you’ll begin being grateful for that critical person being part of your life because you got the chance to practice empowerment, rather than succumbing to victimization.

That’s been my experience.

So in summary, when you’re faced with criticism:

understand that people are naturally afraid and if you’re product is really cutting edge like mine, then know you’ll be going through all three stages of truth

appreciate that even negative energy is still energy and don’t worry about the “bad press” because you’re still getting energy!

limit your time and exposure with toxic, negative people

learn to release your own negative emotions on a daily basis (ideally) so you attract more of what you do want rather than what you don’t want (Law of Attraction)

Lastly, be self-compassionate. You won’t be perfect at it. I’m certainly not. But the good news is that your ability to gracefully side-step and neutralize the negative effects of criticism will be a HUGE skill that will help you succeed not only in business, but in the rest of your life.

To Your Happiness and Success,

P.S. This may seem weird, but I’d like to thank my most vehement critic. Because of what he does, he is helping my internet rankings tremendously.

Joe (not his real name) was upset for a number of reasons:

his sponsor doesn’t return phone calls or emails for weeks

his sponsor won’t do three-way calls and presentations with him

his sponsor took his cash and didn’t sign him up right away so he had to wait three weeks for his products to arrive

Here’s the thing: Life isn’t fair. There are going to be deadbeat sponsors out there who are charming enough to be good at recruiting but terrible at supporting their people.

Joe said he was so angry at his sponsor (and apparently he wasn’t the only one) that he didn’t want her to profit from his business center. And that’s where the “life isn’t fair” part comes in.

Don’t we always want the “right” people to get rewarded and not the “wrong” people? I remember once when a patient of mine ordered $350 worth of retail product and somehow it ended up that another distributor received the commission.

When my company’s Customer Service tried to explain the mistake, the other marketer flat refused to refund the commission. My patient felt really bad (we think he must have typed in the wrong domain name).

So what do you think my reaction was?

At first, I was disappointed that the other marketer wasn’t ethical enough to correct the mistake, but my reaction didn’t last long. Why? Because I understood the Law of Attraction. The other marketer’s decision was emanating from a scarcity belief that “there isn’t enough”. According to the Law of Attraction, scarcity begets more scarcity.

In other words, if I had succumbed to swimming in negative emotions from the situation, I too would be emanating scarcity vibrations into The Universe (thus attracting more scarcity). So instead, I consciously decided to let go of any resentment and move on.

At the time, I was really a “nobody” in my company, but I was completely convinced that I would likely end up more “famous” or “successful” than this other guy anyhow. And I was right on.

Not that it really matters. It’s not about being competitive with anyone. It about learning to let go things I could not control and quickly learning my lessons (i.e. getting a better domain name that is easier to spell!).

So no matter what unfairness or injustice you may encounter, learn to let go of your attachments to being right and instead, learn your lessons quickly and move on. It doesn’t mean putting up with a bad sponsor, but it does mean finding a solution that works for you and not worrying about fairness.

In the end, deadbeat sponsors will never be truly successful. They may look successful on paper as they may recruit a bunch of people and earn some commissions, but their negative attraction factor will sabotage all their efforts and they’ll lose the trust of whoever they’ve recruited.

And besides, true success is less about how much money you’ve earned and more about how many people you’ve helped, and about feeling good about yourself for doing so. Let me know what you think of this post by commenting!

I am so sorry. I had no idea that the MLM Success Tracker English version on my website was an old draft version with only a couple of pages of content! Mind you the French version was perfect! One of my new downline members actually alerted me to the problem recently.

I bet you thought I was a little “nuts” to offer this not-so-exciting free download. It should be embarrassing, but I find it actually kind of funny. What a marketing blunder!

But here’s the cool thing about it: I got to practice being imperfect. As a recovering perfectionist, this gave me the perfect (pun intended) opportunity to practice humility and self-compassion….AND I get to turn this into a training opportunity!

You see, people make “mistakes”. Even seasoned networkers and leaders. But the difference is that good leaders don’t take it personally. They just know that making “mistakes” are just part of the growing process and that the quest for perfection is what prevents most people from making it in this industry.

Actually I don’t really believe in “mistakes” which is why I’m putting the word in quotes. Think of mistakes as:

opportunities to be guided to what best serves you

learning stepping stones to get what you really want

an opportunity to practice self-love and compassion (there’s that love word again!)

an opportunity for your ego to take a back seat and let go of any superiority complex you may have developed from being a success

One of my favorite quotes from Rich Dad, Poor Dad multimillionaire author, Robert Kiyosaki is him saying something to the effect of: The only people who fail are those who give up. And I believe that is true of network marketers.

How many network marketers do you know who “tried” to do the business but quit early-on because they believed it was too hard, it took too long to be successful, or because they didn’t really learn how to do the business successfully? Instead of examining what it was about themselves that needed to change in order to be successful, they blamed the company, their upline, their spouse, their kids, their home responsibilities or God.

Let that not be you.

Enjoy your imperfections. Laugh, then let them go and try again. That’s it! There is no secret formula (have you seen Kung Fu Panda? If you didn’t, this is the line from that movie) to enjoying your business.

I would love your comments on this post!

To Your Success,

This post is for folks who have found a great product or service to market but are looking for the “right” sponsor. It is also for people new to network marketing who aren’t sure which team to join.

Many people would agree that having a sponsor who is already earning a ton of money in network marketing would be an asset. There is no doubt about that. But that isn’t all there is to choosing the right sponsor for YOU. And sometimes, your best sponsor might be someone who is isn’t the top income earner (I’ll tell you why in a minute).

I’ll dispel the belief right now that just because your sponsor is a “winner” it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be successful too. I was once on a three-way call with a business friend of mine who convinced me to talk to her new upline, an MLM guru. The guru was great to talk to and my friend was doing the right thing getting us on a three way call.

The guru, of course, ended up with thousands upon thousands of distributors in his downline (he’d been doing network marketing for many years so it didn’t take long for all his colleagues to join him). My friend, however, decided after a few months it wasn’t for her and quit. Me, on the other hand, decided after a year of buying the product, that it wasn’t good enough for me to continue getting it, so I let my account lapse.

It’s not that my friend was necessarily a “bad” sponsor, just an inexperienced one. She just had too many irons in the fire with her other businesses to really put attention into her network marketing business.

So here are a few questions you may wish to ask your potential sponsor:

Have you ever done network marketing before this opportunity, and if so, for how long? Chances are, the longer he or she has been in network marketing, the less likely they are going to quit on you or expect instant “results”.

Have you ever quit a network marketing opportunity before? and if so, why did you quit and how long did you stay? You may wish to assess whether this potential sponsor is one of those “the grass is always greener” people who jump from opportunity to opportunity looking for the best one, rather than realize that they are the ones that need the upgrade. In other words, do they have tenacity and the ability to continue grow as a person and as a marketer? Ideally, you’re looking for someone that has stayed in a particular business for at least a year, preferably more.

What different kinds of marketing training do you or the company offer? What you’re looking for here is whether you will be trained on multiple marketing methods and will be able to try ones that are best suited to your natural skills and aptitude rather than boxed into (and forced into) doing it just one way. The old days where your upline tells you you have to cold call 30 people a day to do the business properly are over (thank goodness!). A good upline will help guide or train you in several different methods of marketing and it is your job to choose what resonates with you.

What marketing methods do you use to grow your business? Here’s where you get an idea of what your sponsor has been doing. If all they know is doing big live presentations and you can’t stand speaking in front of a crowd, then you’ll have to ask how he/she will support you if you don’t choose to do presentations.

Who else is on the team and who can I call when you’re unavailable? A good sponsor realizes that being successful in network marketing means having a great team. Your potential sponsor should be able to give you the names of some upline success leaders who you can have access to if, and when, your sponsor is unavailable.

Even though it may be tempting to ask, “how much do you make?”, just realize that their monetary success may have nothing to do with yours. It would be more useful to get a handle on what they actually do each day/week to expand their business.

Despite everything I’ve written above, there is one sure-fire way to know whether the person you’re interviewing should or shouldn’t be your sponsor. Here it is: ENERGY.

What do I mean by energy? Well, I’m not talking about someone hyped up on how much money you’re going to make and how great the company is. No, that’s not what I mean.

What I mean by energy is this:

When you are in the presence of potential sponsors, either in person or by phone:

Do you feel energized by their enthusiasm or drowned by their sense of urgency?

Do you feel privileged rather than pressured into joining the team?

Do you feel peaceful and positive around them?

Does your body feel open or are you feeling tight and contracted?

Do you get the feeling that it doesn’t matter one way or another whether you say yes or no, they will still like and respect you?

Do you get the feeling that they really want the right “fit” for their team and they aren’t just going to accept anyone with a pulse?

Do they seem calm, self-confident and generally happy?

Do you feel genuinely interested or are you getting bored or impatient with them?

The reason you’re evaluating ENERGY is that you want someone who you can resonate with. The easiest way to evaluate that is by how your body feels when you’re around this person.

The most successful members of my team are all like me: bubbly, enthusiastic, tenacious, kind, patient, helper-healer types, self-confident and most of all, loving (yes, I said loving. I know this is a business blog, but I believe in the power of love). This is no accident. Whenever I interview a new team member, I’m primarily feeling for their energy! Now you know my secret.
