The oxidation of low density lipoprotein (LDL) may play an important role in atherosclerosis. We investigated the possible antioxidant effects of mangostin, isolated from Garcinia mangostana, on metal ion dependent (Cu2+) and independent (aqueous peroxyl radicals) oxidation of human LDL.

Mangostin prolonged the lagtime to both metal ion dependent and independent oxidation of LDL in a dose dependent manner over 5 to 50 microM as monitored by the formation of conjugated dienes at 234 nm (P < 0.001).

There was no significant effect of mangostin on the rate at which conjugated dienes were formed in the uninhibited phase of oxidation. Levels of thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS) generated in LDL were measured 4 and 24 hours after oxidation with 5 microM Cu2+ in the presence or absence of 50 microM or 100 microM mangostin. We observed an inhibition of TBARS formation with 100 microM mangostin at 4 hours (P = 0.027) but not at 24 hours (P = 0.163). Similar results were observed in the presence of 50 microM mangostin.

Mangostin, at 100 microM, retarded the relative electrophoretic mobility of LDL at both 4 and 24 hours after Cu2+ induced oxidation. Mangostin (100 microM) significantly inhibited the consumption of alpha-tocopherol in the LDL during Cu2+ initiated oxidation over a 75 minute period (P < 0.001).

From these results, we conclude that mangostin is acting as a powerful free radical scavenger to protect the LDL from oxidative damage in this in vitro system.

These studies illustrate how the xanthones found in the mangosteen fruit could greatly impact health. Hundreds of scientific research papers can be found, but these should be enough to capture your attention.

The following studies demonstrate how the mangosteen could play a significant role in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, cancer of all types, heart disease, allergy/asthma, tuberculosis, central nervous system conditions, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Additional studies show the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties of the mangosteen. At the center of attention are the biologically active compounds found in the mangosteen called xanthones. Within the last 5 years, the xanthones have been the focus of much of the scientific research. With over 200 xanthones identified in nature, so far 43 xanthones are identified in the mangosteen fruit. The mangosteen is simply the most abundant source of xanthones on earth.

Continued study is required as only 6 of the 43 xanthones found in the mangosteen fruit, have been researched. However, their potent activity and broad-ranging indications for use may soon reveal the mangosteen’s xanthones to be one of the all-time greatest medical discoveries.

The “21-Day Challenge”

A) Drink 1 whole bottle of juice (about 25 oz.) PER DAY X 21 days

B) PLUS about a gallon of water, such as DISTILLED water.

The “21-Day Challenge” proposes that individuals who have critical health issues—such as just about any form of cancer—issue a challenge to their health condition by committing themselves to drink an entire 25 oz. bottle of Mangosteen juice each day for a period of 21 days, **PLUS** drinking at least one gallon (eight 16 oz. glasses) of pure water—such as spring water—along with the juice. The 4 to 6 hour half-life of Mangosteen juice in the body would suggest that the consumption of both juice and water be spread out somewhat evenly throughout the 24 hours.

This is important in order to flush the toxins from the body. He did say the only uncomfortable thing about it all was the need to stay very near a bathroom at all times!

**NOTE: It is essential that the recommended amount of water be consumed along with the juice. As the Mangosteen juice is consumed, the cells begin to function normally to clear and release toxins into the blood stream—and these toxins must be eliminated from the body. The rule of thumb for water consumption is 1/2 ounce for every pound of body weight for those who are sedentary, or 2/3 ounce for every pound of body weight for those who are active. For example, if you weight 100 pounds and are not active you would drink 50 ounces of water.

To make sure you are drinking all the water you need, find a large pitcher and fill it in the morning, making sure to consume all of the water before evening (refilled as necessary). Otherwise, you will think you’ve had enough water, but in fact, that is seldom the case!

(If you are unable to drink the required water, it is better to use less Mangosteen juice)

To get the Mangosteen Juice cheaper, a person can pay $35 to become a Mangosteen Juice member and get the Mangosteen Juice at wholesale prices. It is not necessary for them to do the business [be an active distributor] if they don’t choose to. My son in law had shared with my wife and I a new product he was very excited about. Now mind you, when he gets excited about a product we listen because he knows what he is doing when it comes to supplements and nutrition.

I will start with my wife first. She has lymphoma and has been experiencing a lot of pain in her back. We know that the pain was coming from her lungs, due to the fact that they continue to fill with fluid. Two days before Thanksgiving we took her to the emergency room because she could not breath and the pain was excruciating.

They did a scan and told her it was not fluid however it could be that the cancer is getting worse, a pulled muscle or another tumor putting pressure on the lung. Needless to say, they did nothing for her and told her she would have to see what the results of the scan was on Monday.

My son in law gave her a bottle of Mangosteen juice and told her to drink 2 oz a day. She started Thanksgiving Day. By Saturday she had absolutely no more pain. Today she is out and about, went to breakfast with me and is feeling great.

Cancer Free – Malignant Melanoma

In summer of 2002, Scott had been diagnosed with stage 4-melanoma cancer.

It had spread to his Lymph nodes, which the doctors surgically removed, and seemed to be getting worse. The doctors told Scott they did not know if he would make it or not, and melanoma is the most aggressive cancer and can spread very rapidly. Last summer he underwent aggressive therapy. This therapy had made him very sick (it was actually killing him).

He decided to go another route and choose interferon (self injected). He did that for several months but had a test in November 2003 and still had the cancer.

In December Ann and I found out that Mangosteen Juice had been used by a Doctor in Phoenix on hundreds of patients to help relieve the effects of traditional medicine (chemo, interferon etc) with great success. Not only were the effects of the chemo and interferon relieved but also many patients were becoming cancer free. We told Scott about this and he began drinking [Mangosteen Juice] in December reluctantly.

Ann met with Dr. Templeman who lectured on the benefits of the Mangosteen fruit one day at a conference we attended in San Diego. After the lecture Ann met with him and he told Ann that Stage 4 melanoma was a particularly bad cancer and If he were Scott I would be taking Mangosteen Juice and other supplements to help the body rid it self of this cancer. Of course we came back & suggested to Scott to be more aggressive with the Mangosteen Juice, stop smoking, & begin an exercise program.
