Can Brock Lesnar Be “Beat?”

UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar demolished interim titleholder Frank Mir in their rematch to retain his crown via TKO at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas Saturday night.

Lesnar (4-1), who avenged his only defeat with the win, overpowered and brutally bludgeoned Mir (12-4) before referee Herb Dean mercifully called a halt to the fight 1:48 into the second round.

Moments after the decided mismatch ended, Lesnar, 32, a former WWE Undisputed Champion, flipped off the hostile crowd that had booed him all evening since he first made his appearance.

After his classy salutes to the fans in "Sin City," the South Dakota farm boy of yesteryear proceeded to taunt the gruesomely battered Mir, 30, while he attempted to regain his equilibrium in the cage.

Continue reading "Can Brock Lesnar Be Beat Fans Should Be Suspicious of Albert Pujols"

July 11th couldn’t take any longer to arrive. But when it did, it came with thunder just like the Olympian’s flying forearm attack. As we watch from around the world the spectacle before us, we’re we watching our modern day warriors in combat or we’re we watching barbarians slugging it out?

The night did not disappoint with the main card opening with a controversial win for Yoshihiro Akiyama over Alan Belcher. Then came the fight that most of us have been waiting for since Jan 17 when we knew that Dan Henderson will be facing United Kingdom’s super star and middleweight prospect, Michael “The Count” Bisping.

The Brit showed plenty of brash and valor during the season but he did so at the expense of getting onto Henderson’s bad side. His antics were out of control at times, so it was no surprise that Henderson came with an over hand right to match Bisping’s over the top shenanigans.

Continue reading "UFC 100 Warriors or Barbarians"

Bobby Lashley Would Dominate The UFC

Former WWE and ECW champion Bobby “The Dominator” Lashley pulverized mixed martial arts veteran fighter Bob “The Beast” Sapp via TKO less than two minutes into their bout Saturday night at “Ultimate Chaos” in Biloxi, Miss. Moments after the opening bell rang, Lashley (4-0) easily grappled the enormous Sapp (10-5-1) to the canvas.

Once Lashley, 32, seized the advantage, he connected with a vicious barrage of punches on Sapp, 35, until the onetime PRIDE and K-1 star tapped the mat to signal to the referee that he wanted the fight called at 1:17 of the first round.

"I got a good shot in the eye and was unable to see," explained the onetime University of Washington offensive lineman who was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. "He got me in the eye. No excuses, He got me down today and controlled it. Give it up to Bobby Lashley."

Continue reading "Bobby Lashley Would Dominate The UFC Wang Hughes Mariano Rivera Are The Keys To A Yanks Championship"

Machida's recent victory to claim the UFC light heavyweight title was definately a long time coming. This blog is not about the fight. Rather it is ongoing debate which Machida is a symbol.

 15-0
 hasn't lost a single round
over 2 years in UFC before a title shot

While 2 years seems like nothing to the casual observer, many in mma circles have wondered why he hasnt gotten a title shot sooner. People who both like/dislike him agree; his style is boring. No one can doubt he is a great fighter but his style is not one which brings in casual fans. This is not a mma dillema but a sports dillema in general. MMA has the image though of brininng the "best" fighters in the world. It also has an image of modern, appealing to younger adults, and borderline anti-traditional martial arts. Machida's Shotokan karate strikes are obvious compared to the Thai kickboxing strikes you normally see. He's calculating and counter-striking which is bad for excitement (but good in actual combat).

Continue reading "Lyoto Machida finally a title holder"

Obama’s Speech Wasn’t Controversial. But, Charlie Weiss’ Coaching Is

Amidst great controversy regarding his support for abortion rights, United States President Barack Hussein Obama II presented the commencement speech at the University of Notre Dame last week.

Notre Dame’s President, The Rev. John Jenkins, was widely criticized by dozens of American Catholic bishops for inviting our nation’s 44th President to speak and also for granting Obama with an honorary degree despite his stance on abortion.

Following the commencement, Obama spoke last Sunday night at an Indianapolis fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee and he initiated his address by jesting that the hoopla surrounding his appearance at South Bend “paled in comparison to what to do about the football team.”

Continue reading "Obamas Speech Wasnt Controversial But Charlie Weis Coaching Is Bobby Lashley Would Thrive in the UFC The WWE Will Beat the Denver Nuggets in a Fight"

UWC 6 is this Saturday and the Warcorpse wants you all to watch it! It will be streaming live on Sherdog.com for FREE! The card is headlined by the UWC Bantamweight Title Fight between Mike Easton and Josh Ferguson. Other fights on the card Include Rashad Woods taking on War Machine in the 175 pound division. The two time National Muay Thai Champ Jose "The Pistol" Villarisco will try MMA again when he fights Mikey "The Burque Bulldog" Lovato for a good mid-card fight and the event opens with Kris "Savage" McCray in a fight against Ronnie Wuest. 8 fights in all.

Like i said the event will be streaming live on Sherdog.com and it's a great chance to see up and coming fighters. At their skill level they are some good prospects for the UFC down the road. Especially Kris McCray the only one of them I've seen This guy has a bright future in MMA at the moment. He's mauled through all the amatures he fought and the two pro fights. And Mike Easton will be in the WEC sooner rather then later.

Continue reading "UWC 6 Capital Punishment"

Now the first thing that I want to say is that I don't blame Anderson Silva for the debacle at UFC 97. It really wasn't his fault and I have to give credit to Chuck for coming to his defense. However on a whole UFC 97's card for the most part stunk.

For me personally the night was tainted by the fact that it's a real possibility that it was Chuck Liddell's last fight. As much as I hate to see the Iceman go I hope he doesnt stick around so long that he wrecks his legacy. That paled in comparison to the Main Event. Thales Leites vs Anderson Silva when this fight happened I wasn't expecting anything just a good fight. Those hopes died when in the first ninety seconds NO ONE THREW A SINGLE PUNCH. That was both of there's fault. Then it went on to get worse with each on going round of Leites constantly going to the ground. Every time that Silva would try and get close Leites would go to his back. It was honestly painful to watch. It was boring and just a bad fight.

Continue reading "Anderson Silvas Title Fight what a crock"

Man, am I disappointed. One of the worst cards I've seen in a while. And Anderson Silva? What the hell, man?

Anderson Silva v. Thales Leites

The worst fight I can remember seeing. I've probably seen worse. But I can't remember them. Picked the fighter, but way off on the method. Terrible fight.

Results: Silva. Unanimous Decision

My Prediction: Silva TKO, rd 2 (1-0)

Chuck Liddel v. Mauricio Rua

I went with my heart on this one and was very disappointed. Liddel still didn't check the leg kicks, and in the end shows his age in the form of much less speed. KO.

Result: Rua, TKO, rd 1

My Prediction: Liddel, TKO rd 2 (1-1)

Krzysztof Soszynski v. Brian Stann

One sided fight here. Soszynski shows his superior ground game in impressive fashion.
