The Yankees, who went 103-59 to establish the best mark in Major League Baseball in the 2009 season, simply outclassed the Phillies over the course of six games.

“I really believe in this club,” said Yankees Manager Joe Girardi, who was widely scrutinized for his decision to utilize a three-man rotation throughout the playoffs. “I’ve always believed in this organization, the job the Steinbrenner family has done, Cashman and his staff and it’s where we wanted to be and the guys did it.”

Despite New York’s exorbitant payroll that exceeded $208 million, Girardi stressed that the Yankees chemistry and perseverance is what ultimately brought another crown to the Bronx.

In an effort to maintain his strength and conditioning while he is banished until week five against the Miami Dolphins, Pace, 28, decided to travel to Las Vegas to train for two weeks with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) legend Randy Couture. 

“The Reason why I’m doing MMA is it’s probably the closest thing you can find to football as far as conditioning, cardiovascular and the physical aspect,” said Pace, who signed a six-year contract with the Jets worth $42 million in 2008. “I’m not going to be fighting and I’m not going to get hit. I’m just going to be training my behind off.”

At UFC 100, we bore witness to a man who may be unstoppable. The question on everyone’s mind that night was, who can stop this guy?

His size and power has been overwhelming for his opponents and few, if any, can match him mano a mano. But titans have entered the realm of MMA before and failed, ie Bob Sapp (6f’ 4”, 322lbs) and Hong Man Choi. (7’ 2”, 367lbs).

But Lesnar (4-1) is a different animal. He’s a distinguished amateur wrestler with remarkable ability and an appetite for fighting. Not just a freak of nature. Even Joe Roegan mentioned during the UFC 100 broadcast, Lesnar was born to wreak havoc. What a sight it must of have been, had he been born centuries ago, to see him rushing towards you, mounted on his steed (or his wife), hurling the largest battle ax known to man.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar demolished interim titleholder Frank Mir in their rematch to retain his crown via TKO at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas Saturday night.

Lesnar (4-1), who avenged his only defeat with the win, overpowered and brutally bludgeoned Mir (12-4) before referee Herb Dean mercifully called a halt to the fight 1:48 into the second round.

Moments after the decided mismatch ended, Lesnar, 32, a former WWE Undisputed Champion, flipped off the hostile crowd that had booed him all evening since he first made his appearance.

After his classy salutes to the fans in "Sin City," the South Dakota farm boy of yesteryear proceeded to taunt the gruesomely battered Mir, 30, while he attempted to regain his equilibrium in the cage.

The night did not disappoint with the main card opening with a controversial win for Yoshihiro Akiyama over Alan Belcher.  Then came the fight that most of us have been waiting for since Jan 17 when we knew that Dan Henderson will be facing United Kingdom’s super star and middleweight prospect, Michael “The Count” Bisping.

The Brit showed plenty of brash and valor during the season but he did so at the expense of getting onto Henderson’s bad side. His antics were out of control at times, so it was no surprise that Henderson came with an over hand right to match Bisping’s over the top shenanigans.
